I think I have discovered there is no way to put into words the wonder of today....the friendship, kindnesses, beauty of the wildlife... and No Way to put into words the appreciation to Gene and Wanda, Mema, all our Lunch Bunchers who made it so magical, AND of all you Momsters and Dadsters for your encouragement...
Deb, We told him that the pop up wasn't working. He really didn't say anything about the feed - Mainly talking about how busy he has been with budget. He looked thru the mag article and so did Randy Robinson. They were impressed especially with your photos.
Margy gave me one of your pictures and I have it already placed in the front room! It is so beautiful!
I hope Lady Black Water is talking to her little one inside the egg and telling the eaglet to 'Come on out - the weather is great - and you can see the sliver of the moon and Venus' ! lol
Man our little Nest Momma is sure getting the rollin' goin' this evening...☺
Yes, that C-5 was Magnificent! They have been in our area for a few years and that is the FIRST time I have seen one...
DEB we only laughed, because YOU DID NOT SIGN YOUR MAGAZINE and we Know you are going to be rich and famous one day....and then we would be too if we had a signed article ! ☺
Wanda......great pictures. Double clicked the pics and felt like I was there. You guys did well cleaning your plates. LOL Checked out just who was wearing their beads and could see the Capt. reflected in the mirror in the Eagle Express, so I do know he was there. So glad you guys had such a wonderful day. You talked about laughing so much, and that made me sooooo jealous!!! Oh, well!
Thanks for that Fox report, Megan.....guess I've been lucky to have only gotten one call! FTC wouldn't take my case because the number didn't show up...if I'd been on the cordless when it came in (I was on the other line) it would have, but I was on a regular phone. Fairly happy w/ my new camera results. Not like having a telephoto lens, but not too shabby!!!
Hi Loretta - Wanda was the main photographer for today's event! Jim, Ceil's hubby, was also taking pics.
Just looked at the new pics you posted on your blog - It's great that the nest is at your work place... I would think they have egg(s) up in their nest!!!
That was weird....went to Deb's Photo page off this blog, and could not "escape."
Mema - I know of two pretty reliable places for Cedar Waxwings: Swinging Bridge in this county, and the Fish Hatchery in Jefferson County...especially when warmer weather gets here. Megan has them too!
A happy message off the Puleston site regarding Osprey, from Melanie:
A MD birder has logged the first osprey sighting of the year - at the mouth of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Same place as last years' first sighting only this year is 3 weeks later.
The waxwings' coat reminds me of velvet! I love to watch them when there are bunches of them together, flying in the air for insects I guess, twittering, and looking like yellow leaves blowing. Last year at Swinging Bridge, late in the season, I could hardly count the nearly 50 or so that were there because they were so active ! ☺ Definitely on my list of favorite birds...
Jo, we're pretty sure the Park eagle has been eggsitting. One of our naturalists thinks they may have had eggs very early. Hard to say. I guess when someone sees food fly-ins & adult standing to feed young, we'll know they (it) hatched. There has been talk (FINALLY) of putting up cam in another tree after hatching.Wish them luck--we have terrible reception for anything down there. Gonna watch ER.....
If it is a spider it isn't close to the cam like it was before. It is round, came down from the top in the middle of the screen, then went back up. Pretty much like Margy described it.
I think it is what happens when a little fuzz ball gets kinda caught in the web strings, and blows around in suspension for a few seconds....and the infra red light jazzes it up a little, Mema
Not sure about a switch, Deb - she looked up, opened her beak wide and seemed to be hollering about something...then she settled down and tucked that head in again..
I checked with the Forum that Never Sleeps and they have a picture from 6:31 that shows no cracks. If the eagle rolls the eggs, do the roll so the cracks are up?
I don't have a clue on that one, Deb. I would guess that the crack would be UP and ready to go! As you pointed out earlier, it is very hard to tell if it is a crack or a piece of fluff/grass in the nest. Thanks for the info on the earlier pic they captured.
I am still learning how to post photos from my new camera to their best advantage. I was able to bring up our eagle at a closer range. Now, I am looking for those beautiful bluebirds we saw. Gene got some beautiful shots of them, but I'm too sleepy to fool with them tonight. There are many others, but they can wait til tomorrow.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE SWEET DREAMS PRAYERS FOR ALL...THANKS GIVEN FOR A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
Maybe the floaty white stuff was some of Wanda's milkweed fibers!!!
If the hole-digging squirrels were hiding corn, the raccoons found it...theyt've been very busy in those holes this evening...who knows, maybe they are who started the digging and the squirrels just went deeper!
BTW, Mits...our local Air Guard Unit (the 167th) flew C-150's for about 30 yrs. before switching over to the C-5's a couple of years ago. (my ex retired from there last year; he was active-duty w/ a permanent duty station; that's how/why I used to do commissary shopping).
It's been a long and wonderful day. I'm heading for the tub and then off to dreamland. Up early again tomorrow to get to the #%*&@ dentist! Thanks for all of the friendship and laughter today. Sure wish we could do it more often. Sweet dreams for all. Prayers and peace.
I am off to bed also. Sure wish BWE would have let us see something! I think I will leave it up for the night, so I can check in if I wake up around 4 my time.

Mits I too am watching that restless eagle at BE I sort of hope it doesn't hatch til maybe later tomorrow, gives the littlest one a better chance at well you know pecking order stuff.
I just salted the driveway, brrr, it is cold outside.
I found this update on the Hancock Forum about the Hornby nest: Re: Hornby
Something happened last night that has meant we (Ken and I) can't "see" the encoders from here - even though they are sending video, we can't log on and do anything remotely - and whatever it was seems also to have done something to the sound.
It will take a trip to Hornby to sort out. Scheduling and money are the only things in the way.

OUR EAGLE is up!
Loretta:
Loved your new pictures, and also like your new avatar ☺
Lady BW is very restless, Jo. I have been watching and hoping for a sign the chick has started pecking away, but she is too good at hiding those eggs.
Deer at the Snowman cam, the snow has stopped for now.
I am becoming the Missed the Egg Roll Queen....
:(
Lady W does seem antsy, body all double-jointed, and cam does not always seem as though it is refreshing very well.
Deb I sure like your two new birds...I am still waiting on a Robin here! But today we heard red-winged blackbirds. ☺
BRS blog....that is great:)

Yeah, it will be awhile before I see any migrator's here, sure can't wait for BWO's to come back.
Great news about our osprey returning here in MD..... We best watch the BWO for the osprey.

Jo, we're pretty sure the Park eagle has been eggsitting. One of our naturalists thinks they may have had eggs very early. Hard to say. HEY MARGY_ egg roll!!
Egg roll, our nest.
Yeah, Megan... I saw it this time! I went rushing over to see the little white thing, and saw three little white things instead. Thanks Deb !
I think you must mean the flying gauzy snowbally thing...? Whatever it was must have jostled Belle too ☺
Booyah!!!! the osprey are back in town.
Do you mean the upper right corner is where there is a 'white' thingy. Isn't it Spidey?
If it is a spider it isn't close to the cam like it was before. It is round, came down from the top in the middle of the screen, then went back up. Pretty much like Margy described it.

Did anyone see any BWE eggs???
I haven't JO, and the camera was not refreshing for awhile there.
She has 34 minutes to let us see something, anything....
Belle is yawning or calling...seems quite restless herself tonight
I was in the kitchen, so I missed the switch. I made some hot chocolate, it is cold outside!
Not sure about a switch, Deb -
she looked up, opened her beak wide and seemed to be hollering about something...then she settled down and tucked that head in again..
Randy was pretty interested in our talk of the PIX PA cam, Jo so I think I will send him the website for that one....
She is telling those bluebirds to stop chirping!
I just might have to set my alarm for 5 am when BWE will back on to see if there is anything fuzzy on there.
JO - sure can't wait to hear when the new little fuzzy arrives in your family too ☺
I bet that Lisa is on Hatching Alert
tonight!
I checked with the Forum that Never Sleeps and they have a picture from 6:31 that shows no cracks. If the eagle rolls the eggs, do the roll so the cracks are up?
Oops, they roll.
I don't have a clue on that one, Deb. I would guess that the crack would be UP
and ready to go! As you pointed out earlier, it is very hard to tell if it is a crack or a piece of fluff/grass in the nest. Thanks for the info on the earlier pic they captured.
BWE hasn't tucked her head under her wing that I have seen! She has been hanging it out on the edge of the nest.
Set your alarm Margy!
If our birds aren't doing much vocalizing, it is possible they could be imprinted with that Blue Bird Chirp, Jo ☺
I'm finishing out the evening with a giant-sized Oatmeal Creme Pie that Wanda threw into my satchel....
maybe that will bring nest action at BWE.
Well, it's been a long fun day, but it has come to a sleepy close for this bird

UPDATE FROM LISA....
Nest Update
02/27/09:
As of Friday morning, we appeared to still have two whole eggs.
The most likely time for the first egg to begin hatching is sometime over the next few days.
Norma LOL once Dex is awake enough to hear the word treats its easy then although convincing him he needs a sweater again today when he didn't need one yesterday is the trickier part.
HORNBY ISLAND MESSAGE....
Live broadcast
Currently, there is no live broadcast existent.
Mits I too am watching that restless eagle at BE I sort of hope it doesn't hatch til maybe later tomorrow, gives the littlest one a better chance at well you know pecking order stuff.
WANDA!---Just viewed your pics!!---AWESOME!!---Thanks---I almost felt like I was there----ho!
Morning, all.
Love all the pics....love the rosyfinch site too...they've been watching them for quite awhile..
YES, GLO, a little more time in the oven would be nice.
I just salted the driveway, brrr, it is cold outside.
I found this update on the Hancock Forum about the Hornby nest:
Re: Hornby
Something happened last night that has meant we (Ken and I) can't "see" the encoders from here - even though they are sending video, we can't log on and do anything remotely - and whatever it was seems also to have done something to the sound.
It will take a trip to Hornby to sort out. Scheduling and money are the only things in the way.
Richard
since they are no visible signs on the eggs, that is good for a hatching closer together
oh no, Deb!!!!!! we were talking yesterday how much we love that site:(
West End cam is down, too, but you can click on the slower connections link and see an empty nest. There must not be an egg yet.
Rain cometh to the nest...
looks like the tents are coming out.
(((Hugs to ALL of you.)))
Leaving now, out into the rain
xo ☺ ♥
GLO & HELEN!----I hope LISA has the correct date---(in a few days)!!---LOVE THAT SITE!!
WHOA JO!----Still waiting for the ARDVARK site??
New Thread is up....
See Ya There!!
