Loved the article - thanks Steve. Margy - Steve Wunderley was our man on Chn 25 about 2 years ago. He is an eaglehollic and is/was at FWS/NCTC. Having a great visit with Jenny & Aaron.
Belle's is pulling a very large stick Hope she doesn't stick those eggs!!!
Was supposed to go to Charlottesville tomorrow to get my drain out but had to postpone it until Monday - considering the weather and my fall last night, not a good time to go.
Well, I was walking with my hands in my coat pocket when I fell, so I bounced my chin off the ground, busted the inside of my bottom lip, and banged up my knee pretty bad.
Aaron said he would stop by Friday pm to see Sandra and give a hug from all of us! Tom will be in DC and I think they are celebrating her b-day on Saturday with such good weather in the forecast!
I showed Jenny the daffodils of Lolly's & her garden ------ She said her stone walkway just needs about 4 more stones. Jenny might want to move to TX with you Megan and all the other bloggers who are anxiously awaiting SPRING !!
I'm afraid to comment on Sharons offer to show me how to use the wax. I hope it wasn't her that wrote that article. Mauley, you may have all of my wax.
I see BRS is still hauling down the road and is in Iowa now. I would think he will be stopping soon. They are only allowed to drive so many hours without a long break.
No Red, I didn't write that article but boy have I had hours of laughs from it!
That was a pretty nasty fall. My neighbor opened his window after I fell (and he saw me fall) and started fussing about my dogs again. I ended up telling him to shut up and let me get my dog. Would like to have flogged him but was hurting too bad.
Deb, the night of my mother's wake, he came out and was jumping me about the dogs and would not shut up. He knew mom had just died too. He is a real jerk.
Hey, there, Thelma..and Buddy, too! Any snow in Bedford? Sharon, be glad you had your hands in your pockets...probably prevented you found breaking a wrist!!! The natural tendency to throw out hands to break a fall, and all that stuff!!! But poor nose, lip and knee! Stupid neighbor should have come out and helped you..what a jerk. REALLY getting the drain out next visit?? COOL!!! Belated hello to Aaron and Jennifer from me, too, Jo!
OK While we are all awaiting for a possible 3rd egg with the next 2 days I am waiting for about 2 weeks to pass and then my Hedgesville family may just have another addition for me to announce. There are 2 boys and 1 gal right now - Bedroom space wise they are thinking that another little gal would be nice. We won't know until he/she gets here. I'll keep you posted because Melissa Jo is full term and head is down & ready to go!
I guess I need to read back on earlier blog to see if anyone saw those corn stalks being brought into the nest area. Looks like the baby gates that KENT nest used to put up.
Well, stupid Congress delayed the digital conversion until June. They have more concern for consumers who can't/won't listen and heed the warnings to switch than they do for the public safety aspect regarding fire/police/Homeland Security transmissions. Go figure.
If anyone in the local area has any travel plans....Hagerstown now has 4 flights each way to BWI--oops--Thurgood Marshall--7 days a week! Rates not too bad....always liked to fly out of there...no parking hassles, etc. So much easier...just made need to go somewhere!! LOL!
FYI Aaron said without sound you will have better performance on the live feed due to sound taking up so much more bandwidth. I haven't noticed much it any freezing while I have been watching.
See all that white fluff RED? I think it was new food...but I didn't see them bring it in, just saw them trying to pull what looked like wing, in opposite directions, then they beaked each other !
Hi all! Ran my errands then worked in the yard for a good while. :)
JO....I will tell Jack to add 4 more rocks!! LOL How exciting about the new expected baby. I am jealous! I am a BIG baby person and I am going to have to wait a long time before we add anymore. Anyway, hope all goes well, keep us informed and then we will have to see pictures.
SHARON....you really have a jerk for a neighbor!!! So, sorry about the fall. Join the club! I came close to breaking both wrists with my fall. Took my wrists a long time to feel okay and I still feel a twinge if I put pressure on them.
Good flyover...zippy little thing, went from due West, in a East, Southeastly direction, cruised a little South of Orion - then disappeared into the clouds. Moon is nice, makes Pleiades a little faint. Isn't it amazing to see how the clusters and consetellations move around during the winter?
Margy, when we go to Colorado and we are camping in the mountains, one of our favorite things to do is lay outside and look at the sky. We watch for satellites. One night we saw the space station as well as the capsule go across the sky together. They had just detached.
We did not know what we had seen. Next day he called a good friend and before he had finished his question, Russ yell "You saw it!" He was very jealous!
That is so neat, Lolly ! those are rare events to see~
You remember, of course, Sputnik, and Echo? and then Sky Lab?
the satellites are so cool, too, I guess they are for cell phones and things. Once I saw something fly over in a perfect triangle, three little dots, in the middle of the night. I had gone out to watch meteors. I think it was something top secret, mentioned it to an astronomy teacher once, she was very surprised I had seen it
The sky in Colorado up in the mountains is spectacular! We taught Joseph when he was very young to looks for meteors and satellites. We told him to look for a moving star. :) It is amazing how young eyes can spot them so much faster than us!
Have noticed some single beam lights. W/o sound...who knows...maybe there's hunting going on again...heard DNR on scanner this am talking about special permit hunting going on...but nothing said as to where.
Lolly, when there is a nighttime shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral (or Kennedy, whichever name they are using now!!), if the sky is clear, we can see it here--about 9 mins. after liftoff! Love to see it.
Margy, it's still that situation where it shows different things every time they speak...sometimes it shows as Berkeley Co., sometimes MOT--which is Jefferson Co. But I can tell from the things they are saying and talking about that they are DNR or park rangers.
It's strange, because Washington & Frederick Co., MD and Franklin Co., PA both bleed through onto Berkeley's frequency, and sometimes Morgan does, too.
Regarding the person watching Sharon fall and not offering to help: I don't think there is any call for anyone being so unkind...period!
the Town of Hedgesville has a barking dog ordinance....and one of the Council Members had THE YAPPIEST DOGS EVER - and they lived right next door to me... it was all very ironic...
And I don't have a scanner, just hear it at work, and even then not all the channels, Lynn... Can't afford the new ones and have no reason to listen anymore...Sigh.. I guess I just get my fill of it when I am in there... whoa, wind is gusting, wish the second parent would just come into the nest and Tent over the one that is roosting - BWE is moving around a lot too
I'm all caught up on comments. Need to look at many emails. Wasn't there a story that some news person Nilla spoke to. Put an article in editoral section Martinsburg Journal a yr or 2 ago.
Oh new baby girl boy girl boy girl girl girl..ok girl. ( :
Sharon where in Baltimore did that neighbor come from? Sorry for you fall. Hope it didn't bother the drain and hope you heal just fine. Mean Neighbor!! :(
For a good reason (though I don't know what it is) my critterzoom comes up much faster then others that have been suggested. I mean it goes right to the eagles nest & DEB helped me out the other day in order to get full screen you just need to go to the Lower RIGHT click on the block right before the volume guage! Try and see if this link is quicker for you.
DEB - the Valmont GH Owl was interesting to watch last season when they had 2 babies. I just don't watch the Barn Owls anymore after the horrors of the nest at WildWatch Cams last year........
off to fix some dinner:) I was ready for the cold weather, even had a few snow showers, but no one was at the zoo...only talked to 13 people....I did have the red panda on the cam for awhile today.... cloudeds were out along with the giant pandas, but that was it
OK sent out email of Ceil's train ride from Margy...
Updated 18 pics into a new Open House 08 Album from Anne Marie. Sent out wrong link then corrected it for the Photo page in Momsters.
WANDA - my eyes are also very heavy Where is Lolly and Loretta and Deb and Jim and Anne Marie??? Your turn buddies in the midwest and west coast! I vote for you to be the Eagle Egg Laying Watchers.. This could be the night but I will place wagers on 2/5..
Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has introduced a bill similar to the Amber Alert, but it is designed for senior citizens. The Silver Alert would inform the public when a senior citizen goes missing.
The Maryland Broadcasters Association says broadcasters should be immune from liability if they unintentionally make an error while airing the alerts. Delegate Luiz Simmons voted against immunity for the Amber Alert, but he says he may feel differently about the silver alert.
Delegate Luiz Simmons says, "I see the bills entirely different if there was a desire for immunity with the silver alert I would examine that a bit differently and apply a different criteria to it."
The silver alert bill will be heard in committee on February 24. If it is approved in the House, it will head to the Senate.
Mits, don't quite understand what Maryland Broadcasters Assn. means when they talk about "errors"....and who's going to sue them? Missing persons? LOL! I'll be saying g'night to you all now. Rest well. Sweet Eagle dreams for all.
I just watched an egg rolling, still two beautiful eggs in the nest. Hardly any freezing right now, probably not many watching tonight. I think Jo is right, Belle seems so content tonight, sleeping already.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE... I've been watching Belle for about 30 minutes now and she has only moved once. It is very cold (13°) and just a slight breeze. I would go along with Jo's guess that TODAY IS THE DAY (or night), for our third egg...if Belle decides to grace with with another;)
Morning, Wanda:) brrr...... It will be blustery and cold through the morning across the Baltimore Washington metropolitan region...the northern and central foothills of Virginia...the northern and central Shenandoah Valley...and the Hagerstown Martinsburg area. Temperatures in the teens and northwest winds at 10 to 15 mph... with gusts to 25 mph...will result in wind chills near zero through 9am.
So I think that is probably Liberty on the eggs now, he is pretty economical about a switch, checks those eggs, rolls them a little, wiggles a little. sits down, then starts re-arranging the fluff in beak's reach
Good morning Eagle friends!! It is a blustery morning here in Bluefield, 6.2 degrees right now with wind chill well below zero. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Supposed to be in the 50s after day for 5-6 days in a row. Boy, do we need that!!
Good morning everyone. Definitely not a nest watching day for me today but I do have it on as I get ready to start my day. So we think today is day for number 3. mTBR I guess. Enjoy your nestviewing.
He sure knows how to scootch down and get warm doesn't he? Hi Glo and Sissy and anyone that's invisible here...☺ Hope you all have a good day, I won't be on here too much longer myself...
Terrific photos on the BWO page of the juveniles... Deb, I would say those must by YOUR pictures. Really great ! I checked GB Owl nest overnight did not see the owl in the nest at all, as you said, maybe out hunting.
Checking back in...still only 2 eggs and still cooold! 11° now. Our weather forecast is about the same as Sissy's...going to be in the 50's for about 5 days in a row! Anything above 40°, in the Winter, makes me happy:)

Great story!
Thanks for the new thread alert, Harbingerdc, and STEVE for the new thread and the NPR site link!

Good story!! There was a news story on TV at one time too Margy. I remember but not sure what station.
Got ya Deb, I just bailed, like the dark bird at BWO ☺ Thanks
Yay! New thread!
I saw all your comments and wanted to give you another heads up!
Ok eagle is sure staying in the nest, very little movement other than the head.
Well I just took a quick tour of the Asia Trail did not see MITS yet but that clouded leopard looks like a big boa constrictor all coiled up, and the Pandas are frisky...
☺
Nice looks like adult eagle at BWO, I can't touch OKLA today for some reason, time for a nap anyway.
Back later...
Second eagle just came into OK with a stick, no egg.
Both- our nest
2 our nest
looking right at the camera!
Two eagles our nest.
Look how deep that egg well is...
Feed really choppy and slow now...
I am wondering if there might be 2 eagles at our nest!
Both eagles gone in OK.
My feed is so far behind, I see one eagle on the still cam and two on the live feed.
That didn't last long, one eagle back in OK.
One eagle in the nest on eggs, other flew out- we had a switch-
Yes we had a switch...Looks like Belle on the eggs now...
The still cam is ahead of the live feed by 30-45 seconds or so.
Well, time to leave work. See ya'll tomorrow! :)
Loved the article - thanks Steve.

That didn't come out the way I thought it, but I figure you know what I meant.
Looks like a really really long corn stalk that Belle is fooling with.
I best take time to read your comments -You all have probably commented on this
Did you get bruised up, Sharon?
Both our nest
Two eagles on still cam.
Both up and looking around-
Both in our nest
Well, I was walking with my hands in my coat pocket when I fell, so I bounced my chin off the ground, busted the inside of my bottom lip, and banged up my knee pretty bad.
Both eagles just flew out.
2 again our nest
Ha, now both gone!
And one back
One just fllew back in. Getting on eggs.
Jo - Tell Jenny and Aaron hello from me too!
Think that's Lib back...not positive
I was wondering about that...thought it was an awful white stick..cornstalk makes sense
Jo, give my love to Jennifer and Aaron. I swear, those two look like brother and sister Gene is quite fond of both of them too.
Aaron said he would stop by Friday pm to see Sandra and give a hug from all of us!
Tom will be in DC and I think they are celebrating her b-day on Saturday with such good weather in the forecast!

great to hear the NPR piece-thanks steve

well hello eagle-eye, we are doing good, how bout you??????

i'm going to have to pay him some attention-i'll be back

Thanks Megan

Congress postpones digital TV transition to June
Well, stupid Congress delayed the digital conversion until June. They have more concern for consumers who can't/won't listen and heed the warnings to switch than they do for the public safety aspect regarding fire/police/Homeland Security transmissions. Go figure.
Both, eagle just flew in.
Switch- eagle on eggs flew out- one that flew in settled down on eggs.

I think our nesting eagles are playing a game with Blackwater eagles by saying:
WOW we have bigger corn stalks
then you do
Getting silly - must go eat........

I've never seen that Hedgie... so please remind me next time it comes about !
what scanner channel did you hear the DNR talking on this morning ?
I think I need to visit SHARON and take along my EAGLE CANE. Some people are sooo miserable, they try to make everyone else that way!

OK sent out email of Ceil's train ride from Margy...
Updated 18 pics into a new Open House 08 Album from Anne Marie. Sent out wrong link then corrected it for the Photo page in Momsters.
WANDA - my eyes are also very heavy
Where is Lolly and Loretta and Deb and Jim and Anne Marie??? Your turn buddies in the midwest and west coast!
I vote for you to be the Eagle Egg Laying Watchers.. This could be the
night but I will place wagers on 2/5..
I hope you are right, Jo. I'm going to take a panda nap tomorrow, so that I can stay awake longer:)
I named Loretta because she's a night owl

Lots of phone calls this evening. Jack and then my sister, Sharon. We talked for quite a while.
I'll be watching Jo! I'll take my shift! Will you hear me holler?
LOL
WE ARE WAAAY AHEAD OF GOV. O'MALLEY;)
Yep, Lolly, we'll hear you;);)
Don't forget to take pictures! Point, click and shoot!
I'm typing through my eye lashes...gotta go to bed.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

Good Night All

Mits, don't quite understand what Maryland Broadcasters Assn. means when they talk about "errors"....and who's going to sue them? Missing persons? LOL!
I'll be saying g'night to you all now. Rest well. Sweet Eagle dreams for all.
GOOD NIGHT:)
I have no idea, Lynn, just copied and pasted the story:)
I just watched an egg rolling, still two beautiful eggs in the nest. Hardly any freezing right now, probably not many watching tonight. I think Jo is right, Belle seems so content tonight, sleeping already.
I just watched another egg rolling. Saw two eggs and she is wiggling back down on them.
Belle is still sleeping very peacefully, her head tucked under her wing....
***GOOD NIGHT***
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
I am shutting down. Belle is sound asleep. All is at peace. Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Morning early birds!
Okay - I'll watch for a just a little while...Just missed you Lolly
See we are at two on a cold cold nest...nice better than half moon out...
She's Quick - up and changed directions, rolled the eggs, wiggled and back down in less than 30 seconds. Saw just the two...
Feathers are really getting fluffed by the wind
large cat at Pix - not the palomino
Belle just changed directions, rolled her two eggs and back on eggs - her head WAS at 2 o'clock and now her tail is
All's quiet in the nest,
I'm headed back to bed
Hi Wanda, Megan, others..?
Love the new avatar Wanda
Our Bird is awakening...morning is breaking..
Quick little switcheroo, you can hardly tell it happens..
two eggs, two eggs only so far ☺☺
Hi Glo and Sissy and anyone that's invisible here...☺
Hope you all have a good day, I won't be on here too much longer myself...
But I see that white patch on the right wing, so maybe I missed another switch...maybe Him is Her...
I was watching a Raven at Icy Finney's nest but could not get a screen grab :(
Large cat at Pix overnight...
at times had a faceful of snow!
Anything above 20 in the winter makes me happy especially with a sw wind blowing :). MTBR after the staff meeting that is.
Hello again, ☺ Wanda...
I'm going to disappear before the Split
Remember, look ridiculous if you have to when you go out, but Stay Warm ! ☺ ♥ xo
Well, okay, one more comment. The GB Owl is back in the nest box now.
