Have just been just checking the different sites!!---Feels like I have been away for a year!!!---Daughter just called from FL!---Temp was in 30s this am!!
some one had posted a link of story at AJC, but when I clicked on it, it said story was not available.... been checking Atlanta TV and newspapers can't find anything yet
'Inside' scoop is panda cam at Atlanta will be on next week...hopefully they have enough volunteers at the ready to run it! This info has not been made available to the general public yet.
Still only 2 eggs? I guess we will be ON ALERT AGAIN TONIGHT! I didn't get a panda nap, so I might have to enlist the help of LOLLY again to take my place "on egg sitting duty":)
Lolly, when Gene is away for any length of time, I just kinda laze around and eat weird things and watch outrageous things on TV...like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, etc. They are not Gene's forte' and I don't whine about it. We just watch someting that we both like. So, when I am by myself...I do what I like!
Had GeeGee to the doctor this week and she is 2 and one half pounds heavier! Florida food was good for her;) She says she is just about ready to go again. Doesn't like this cold weather. She doesn't want to go to Las Vegas because it is too far, although she loves it there and her best friend still lives there. Don't think we can leave her at home alone like we did last year.
I am so looking forward to a third egg...I might drink a pot of coffee after supper so that I can stay awake:):) Nothing much on TV to keep me interested..don't think I like Peterson's replacement on CSI...How about you, Helen?
DEB---I love your OWLS!!---I have a signed numbered Saw-Whet Owl print--(Don Whitlatch)---He is a West Virginian! (of course)---Think I must get it framed---
Margy, had to visit GeeGee, she is still having some issues. Wish I could get her to move in with us. She will have no part of that and doesn't want anyone to move into her house! It is what it is...for now.
I was thinking maybe you were with GeeGee, Wanda but we worry when anyone disappears on here for long... just a bunch of mother and father hens I guess ☺ ♥
If Belle doesn't put another egg in the nest tonight...it will be so far behind the other two, that they will make fun of it's ineptness:) They might even call him DOPEY!
It was so cold in FL that the manatee were grouped around the FL Power & Light nuclear plant outlet flow on Hutchinson Island near Ft. Pierce. Great pic of them on the news this am. My late aunt was a real manatee lover...I'll always remember her on the yacht screaming "MANATEE" at the top of her lungs when speedboats sped by!
Hi, Miss Norma! I am sooo excited this year to have those little fuzz balls to wake up to every morning! Makes my day, just like your cheery GOOD MORNING To us all:) Had to check in on my Mom today.
con't....boat propellers are the manatees worst enemy...boats are only supposed to go like 5 knots in the Indian River and on the Intracoastal Waterway in that area.
Lynn, if you looked at my Florida photos and saw the pair of eagles flying over the little Island, that would be the Indian River. Have never thought of looking for Manatees there.
Hi all! Back in from outside. Stupid lawnmower gave me problems so I had to give that up. Did some weed pulling and watered the greenhouse. Bah! I wanted to mow! Now I gotta wait till Jubby gets home!
I am ready for tonight Wanda! Tonights the night!
Checked on OK and one was having dinner in the nest. Checked NBG and it was frozen on an eagle in the nest, refreshed and it was on a limb.
Norma: you might be right, I often do not get enough sleep, but this week I have been catching up....4:30 is sure going to come early in the morning, so maybe a 3-egg surprise to get things "rolling" - get it ? Ha, corny....xo
Okay - no alerts for me, I am telling you now that I will not be on here until much later tonight, have to take care of some things.
We should have a good night in the PA woods as I see fresh feed all over the ground. Don't see any cat food though! That was a very large cat that Margy caught on the cam late last evening.
I don't see a crock pot either! LOL Oops, forgot, my beef-veg. soup is simmering on the stove!Want to add a bunch more mixed veggies, but think it will overflow!
Up in the nest- fooling with eggs, but blocking cam view- saw eggs, but light was making for difficult viewing.. I have seen no switch since 1:30 , no one mentioned one-did I miss one? if not, I thionk it's Belle on nest.
Winter Update #1 - February 5, 2009 There's been a lot of action at the NCTC nest this week. The first egg of the season was laid on Saturday, February 1, and the second egg was laid Tuesday morning, February 3. We are hoping for a third egg in the next 12-18 hours or so. Only time will tell, but this pair has a good track record for three eggs.
Here's Bent's description of the eagle eggs:
" Eggs.--Two eggs almost invariably make up a full set for the bald eagle, sometimes only one, and rarely three; in two or three cases four eggs have been found in a nest, but these may have been the product of two females. The eggs vary in shape from rounded-ovate to ovate, the former predominating. The shell is rough or coarsely granulated. The color is dull white or pale bluish white and unmarked, though often nest stained. Very rarely an egg shows a few slight traces of pale brown or buff markings.
The measurements of 50 eggs from Florida average 70.5 by 54.2 millimeters; the eggs showing the four extremes measure 78.8 by 56.2, 71.1 by 57.6, and 58.1 by 47 millimeters. The eggs are ridiculously small for large a bird. (Compare the relative sizes of the eggs of the ruddy duck, the sandpipers, or the hummingbirds.) Consequently the little eaglet requires a long time to develop."--[Published in 1937: Smithsonian Institution United States National Museum Bulletin 167 (Part 1): 321-333]
Incubation is about 34-35 days, where both eagles will take turns keeping the eggs warm. The nest and the parents will protect the eggs from the dangers of cold and dampness, but we are always wary of bad weather, as it can have a devastating effect on the eggs, as happened in 2007.
The eagle cam has had approximately 32,000 hits since we cranked it back up 22 days ago.
Live feed had frozen - there could have been a switch. Head tucked under wing. I am keeping both still & live cams open just to compare them every now & then.
I am home and unfortunately, no swans. We did see a lot of birds, pictures are loading now. I didn't get a lot of variety though. Red-headed duck, Hairy Woodpecker, Cedar Waxwing, Common Goldeneye and one hawk, I am pretty sure it will be a red-tail, but I couldn't get it to turn towards me at all.
Oooh, I forgot, a brown creeper, too. A new bird for me!
It was a good day, Megan, the best part was that it was almost 50!! It was so nice, but we did have to hike through some mud to get closer to the Common Goldeneye to ID it. Mud is much nicer than snow--as long as there is a snow bank nearby to clean off the hiking boots!
Jo, I am still waiting on pictures. My sister in SF has tons of them, but that will be like pulling teeth to get them anytime soon. The photographer is still working on his as far as I know.
Megan, I have to tell you about my avatar lilly. 2 years ago, my Mom had little corms all over the stem of her lilly plant and I picked one off and planted it in my yard...as you can see, it bloomed this year. I have never seen the corms before or since then. Have you seen this happen? If I had known they would grow, I would have gathered them all off!
No seeds, Megan. They were just like the corm or bulb of the mother plant that goes into the ground, only very small. About the size of a dime. Grew up the stem like brussel sprouts.
This is the news which you all have probably seen....... USA Swimming Suspends Phelps For 3 Months Michael Phelps has been suspended from competition for three months by USA Swimming.... I hope this young man learns a lot from this. Don't need to see him get wasted!

Hi Norma,
Sorry, I just now got back to my desk. Actually, I was Sandy's therapist.
My hubby is now making me ice cream sundaes instead. :) However, I would go for a cake any day! :)
cam freezing.
I asked the girl who posted the info about the panda cam for Atlanta...I'll see what she says!
Yup, that looks like Belle in our nest....facing 11ish now.
LOL, someone's sitting at the BWE nest...lines across the cam.
some one had posted a link of story at AJC, but when I clicked on it, it said story was not available.... been checking Atlanta TV and newspapers can't find anything yet
Looks breezy in our nest.
Danelle, it is a bit breezy out right now. the wind chimes are having a good time out there.
Not a steady breeze, but strong at times.
well, looks like it's time for me to go home. Time to brave the cold, but at least my house will be warmer than the hospital! See ya'll tomorrow! :)
Yep, wind is anywhere from 2 to 15 mph here.
'Inside' scoop is panda cam at Atlanta will be on next week...hopefully they have enough volunteers at the ready to run it! This info has not been made available to the general public yet.

should not be any problems getting volunteers, I suppose.

Wanda, we almost sent out the Silver Alert for you.. ☺
I saw a few posts back that we had a Kaylee post. Hello Kaylee and welcome to the most wonderful blog in the world!
Wanda, I went back to Grey's after he left....just does not feel the same without him....I saw Kaylee too, Sharon, but she disappeared.
DEB---I love your OWLS!!---I have a signed numbered Saw-Whet Owl print--(Don Whitlatch)---He is a West Virginian! (of course)---Think I must get it framed---
Egg roll our nest
Sharon, who is Kaylee??
Margy, had to visit GeeGee, she is still having some issues. Wish I could get her to move in with us. She will have no part of that and doesn't want anyone to move into her house! It is what it is...for now.
Hedgie thanks for sharing the news, unfortunate sad news about Chrissy's cat Scampy...will send her a note...
Had my hour of laziness! Feel much better
Wanda - tonight is probably going to be the night if we're to get that 3rd one.
And I don't want to hear about how I slip away from here because you just flew the coop today around 8ish and are just getting back! loLove
I was thinking maybe you were with GeeGee, Wanda but we worry when anyone disappears on here for long...
just a bunch of mother and father hens I guess ☺ ♥

most manatees that you see, have those propeller cuts on their backs.

Yep, Wanda, they are there!!!!
I didn't see Kaylee...if she totally disappeared, then Steve had to have removed her!
MAGPIE!!----Worry about you too KID!---You don't get enough sleep!---We may have to move in with you to make sure!---ho!
Okay, I am going to go do my walking! Get it over with.

That was a very large cat that Margy caught on the cam late last evening.
BRS going thru a toll plaza
Night light time - it looks like the size of Lib.. ??
well he can't lay an egg:)
I was thinking it's Belle. There hasn't been a switch since 1:30.
BRS just entered the Ohio Turnpike.
I hadn't been watching to know if there were a switch... I was just looking at head to tip of tail size..
GH Owl Valmont Xcel Energy
Hope this brings up the Live Feed

Why won't any birds wear their name tags? Hard to ID at night!
Up in the nest- fooling with eggs, but blocking cam view- saw eggs, but light was making for difficult viewing.. I have seen no switch since 1:30 , no one mentioned one-did I miss one? if not, I thionk it's Belle on nest.
I just noticed this update on our cam page
Winter Update #1 - February 5, 2009

No Switch since Megan stated earlier...S/B our Belle in the nest.
And they were switching about every 2 hours all day, that's right, I have no life..so this has been a long time without a switch-5 hours-
Paula - what say you about the dates our 2009 eggs were laid. Am I off base here?
That second egg was laid Monday afternoon or early evening, we know that.
I emailed Steve to explain the dates in the article to me. Let you know tomorrow if I hear from him.
I think it said Tuesday morning in that WVnpr story too. Walking away for a few-keep your eyes peeled, someone...
Lovely deer on Pix PA.
2nd egg was Mon. PM, cause we saved pics of it after 7 PM.
BRS has stopped in Toledo. Probably for the night.
Live feed had frozen - there could have
been a switch. Head tucked under wing.
I am keeping both still & live cams open just to compare them every now & then.
Mrs Red must be working late. She has not called me yet. We're going out for dinner tonight. I'm starving. lol
Red - BRS could be at his destination in Toledo.
Whoa! You think that was just him getting out of his rig?
Looks like the same bird to me, head tucked under wing, same spot.
Red, I think that she would not eat without you. As much help as you retired hubbies are to us ladies - That just won't happen!
Going to watch 7:00 news. BBILW
Here is something amazing to watch. It's one of the top 50 animated features ever.
Pipe Dream
We have the eggs dates correct! 1/31 and 2/2
BRS is not quiet to his destination. Probably waiting till morning.
Also I'm not worried about Mrs. Red eating without me. She'll be here soon enough.
Still sounds like a nice day, Deb. Love the little brown creeper, haven't seen one in a while.
Cam page info is not correct!
1st egg was 2-3am 'ish Sat. 1/31.
2nd was Mon. 2/2 evening---7-8 pm 'ish.
Jo or Paula, can you let NCTC know, please?
It was a good day, Megan, the best part was that it was almost 50!! It was so nice, but we did have to hike through some mud to get closer to the Common Goldeneye to ID it. Mud is much nicer than snow--as long as there is a snow bank nearby to clean off the hiking boots!
No one spending the night in the OK nest.
Something woke eagle up...
Miss the sound-she's talking...
Hedgie - I did send an email.
I will relay any answer I get...
Thanks for agreeing with me on the dates.
Our eagle is being distracted. No sound so I don't know if it were a yawn or a squawk........
Eagle is still nesting - did not stand - so don't think if it were Belle that any egg plopped out......
Security vehicle making the rounds
Moving around, I see two eggs-
Egg roll ???
Who's with me here..
Saw a wiggle wiggle
Yep, egg roll and changed direction...
Jo did.
Eagle is awake...facing 11ish
See ya'll saw it already.
Where do you see the security vehicle lights?
Deb I guess your warm air is headed our way.. Should be around 40° tomorrow.
There isn't any wind tonight.
Didn't your sister send some more wedding pictures of the family - don't you hold out on us, gal!
Still getting some wind here...
Live feed off to the far left - vehicle - I just assume it's the security check.
Could be off campus car.
She just tucked her head into her feathers...
Nope, that's not security...that's cars on the road.
Head is tucked under wing (on both cams)
I'm sorry, I read too fast, I thought you said on the far right....those are road vehicles.
BBIALW
Lisa has pic on BWO from Wed morning of 2 more juvies - Interesting that these 2 are of the age that last season's could be.
Jo, I am still waiting on pictures. My sister in SF has tons of them, but that will be like pulling teeth to get them anytime soon. The photographer is still working on his as far as I know.
Looks like something is about to happen...
Deb. I hope you or Paula are taping.
Well, now, she is just gonna lay there and go to sleep!! Belle, do it now...please!
Going to watch TV Bones.
BBILW & will check in at commercials.
DUH! Paula they were on the far right!
I had a brain freeze.... NOT security vehicles.........
Something is disturbing her??
Two owls in CO box and our owl is up on my live feed. Just the head is up.
with all the programs and visitors they have, it is not unsual to see so many cars, coming and going..
It is 18° now, but no wind. She's really fluffed around those eggs.
Whoa, make that eagle is up on my live feed!
Sleeping with head tucked back now, right? So hard to tell sometimes if live feed has frozen...
Yes, her head is back down.
OK, I see now, just saw car on road, that is a very busy road, lots of houses on it and it connects Sheptown to a lot of other areas.
which owl and eagle cam, Deb???
Sorry, couldn't hear ya'll above the vacuum...all tucked in...my feed is still a going...
aha, head movement again
She's up
Eagle's up-
getting up and stretching
WHoo HOo Up & About
Commercial time here.........
Looks like she grabbed a stick....and moved it...still 2 eggs, rolling them now
Yep, still see two eggs...
And she's wiggled back down...facing 9ish now
8:00pm is a good egg laying time - Right Mits?
Head tucked in...zzzzzz...
I saw 2 also:(
Can't take a pic because still cam's night light interferes.
Back to my Bones - Grave Digger might be caught tonight!!!
Head tucked in under wing
Back to sleep.
lol....Jo:)
Commercial - no nest action...
BBL
Like little black seeds, Wanda?
Head up for a a sec, she looked like she hiccuped...or twitched.. head back up,
I am trying to do too many things at once, Helen, getting confused.
Another commercial
Awake & restless?
Looking around...then tucked back in
Someone please be recording...Please
It may almost be time.......
Was awake, and beak was open for a while, head back down now.
Shoot! Head is tucked.
No seeds, Megan. They were just like the corm or bulb of the mother plant that goes into the ground, only very small. About the size of a dime. Grew up the stem like brussel sprouts.
Up again-
Awake again
Digging just a tad...then a quick roll and back down facing 2ish
Just saw the end of that---egg roll?
commercial - position change
Restlessness means maybe she is getting ready.
Hey anyhow - is that Belle?
Ho Ho Bones
I had it figured out as to whom the
Grave Digger was - it is that FBI woman!
Almost ice cream time!!
Interesting, Wanda..
Yes, Jo, that's Belle.
Finally the phone has stopped ringing, I have eaten, pictures are ready to load, e-mails are done. I am off to watch Grey's, don't lay that egg yet!
You better check back at the commercials, Deb!
This is the news which you all have probably seen.......
USA Swimming Suspends Phelps For 3 Months
Michael Phelps has been suspended from competition for three months by USA Swimming....
I hope this young man learns a lot from this. Don't need to see him get wasted!
Commercial, she is awake! I can always hit record, if I need to>
Hmmm, hadn't heard that on Phelps yet. I did hear Kellogs is not going to renew his endorsement contract. Hope he really learns his lesson. I understand he is young, but someone needs to seriously sit down and talk with him.
Belle, hold that egg until Grey's and PP is over...Pleeease.
Alright people, she cannot schedule this egg around all these programs...
LIVE FEED GET READY
STILL CAM SHE IS UP
Quickie egg roll,
Needs a little more rolling...
Egg roll...
Can't see eggs yet
Head in the fluff and wiggle wiggle
Small adjustment wiggle wiggle
Belle back down
Bones was good...grave digger dug her own hole....
Seen Carol came in on earlier thread.
Eagle on our still is up
Sad about Scampy that is what happended to my cat. Just all of a sudden her kidneys failed. Vet cost high but they couldn't help her. She is there at Rainbow Bridge an welcomed Scampy home until Chrissy gets there.
Facing 11ish now
Head tucked back again...
Commercial and she is back down, with head tucked in.
sleeping soundly....
Jo, that's C's email address.
Head up, looking around
Sorry about that - Loretta wanted me to confirm Chrissy's address to send her note about Scampy.
There is a new cute clip on the Atlanta
Panda Cub updates. It is from this Tuesday - I hadn't watched it until now.
JO, you have mail.
Helllloooo! Dinner is over, have talked with Jack, have read through the blog. I am watching Grey's and monitoring the cam. Looks like all is quiet.

Mason's update
She is awake... Head up.
Dear Scampy will have much company at the Rainbow Bridge. My sweet Printsie Cat and many others will be so excited for the new arrival. They will make Scampy right at home. donna
No new email yet, Helen.
Thanks, hadn't checked my email, another great Mason update:)
She is awake with head up and I thought it was frozen and rebooted. Then I saw what looked like a flashlight.???????
trying again Jo
You would swear it was a still pic, but I just saw her eye blink.
You all are great.
I can go to dinner, come home and get the blow by blow on how many times her head moved, and rolled her eggs. : )
It's vehicle headlights, she is blinking.
lol...Donnie, we have all the news up-to-date>>>
LOL, we're not obsessed, are we Donnie? ;)
We are great up to the minute reporters!
