More seed pods at BWE - eagle in the nest!
There was just a lovely hawk out here and 3 crows stayed on him until he flew away and then they chased him to the other mountain across the railroad tracks.
Hmmm they may have just moved the existing one around. I forgot what they are called...so I emailed Lisa.
Wonder if the pods are from a tree. The catalpa has seed pods, but I think they're thinner than those at BWE. They almost look like corn shucks. Somebody left a fish at BWO. Maybe it's for dinner! ☺
Lisa said it might be part of a cornstalk...
I thought that is what it was called last season.

Loretta a comman flicker was at my suet pack which is near my kitchen window today.
Dana, that is cool. I never see them at suet, mainly feeding on the ground here at Park. They are in the grass on side of road & fly up when you drive by. You can see their white rumps!
Our drizzle turned into cold rain---yuck. Everybody drive home slowly.

Well, it looked like my NCTC live cam had frozen up so I hit refresh and now I cannot get anything.
Taking a break! Silly me putting up so many decorations. However, I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
So, while I work, NN steps out and sees an eagle. Now how COOL for her and so unfair for me! LOL

It looks like the 30 second cam is still updating...I just get a white page when I try the live feed.
Paula, all I can get is the white page and Norfolk is black. Woe is me!

My still cam suddenly went black, but I hit refresh and the whole page refreshed and it's ok now.
That darn bug has arrived here as well...heading home...
Well, crap, I had the live feed up, but it was frozen, and now I can't get anything but white page...still cam seems to still be working, but it's so still, spoiled by live action....

Megan he usually reads all day but he has fallen asleep on the couch. Hasn't picked up a book today. He is feeling very poorly.
I had that stomach bug a couple of days before Christmas and it felt like I was dying. I was afraid I was having complications from the surgery. Was really grateful to know it wasn't deadly! :)
He hasn't eaten all day can only drink 8oz about every 6 hrs of gatoraide.
Oh, poor Paula...hope she isn't getting it. I see rainbow lines on our still cam, but it is still refreshing.

I just told him that Paula went home early. That she might have the bug. He said he wishes her luck and he's hoping she doesn't.

Dana, I much prefer using the outdoor grill, but a bit too sloppy to mess with it tonight! I have been known to stand out with an umbrella, grilling in inclement weather.
Dana, you need to fix Ed chicken noodle soup!!
Crust with filling...takes a while to make, but worth the effort.
I just talked to my niece, everyone is in a panic. The restaurant were the rehearsal dinner was to be held, just closed. At least it isn't the wedding reception place. I am not sure if they had paid in advance or not, though, that would be really bad.
well that is awful, Deb....when is the wedding? I'm sure they will find another place, thank heavens it is not the reception place.
She is getting married this month, right? We had a beautiful place reserved for Laurel's recepting and it burned. However, we had time to find another place and all worked out well.
The rehearsal is a week from Thursday, wedding is a week from Saturday.
Left over stew tonight, but I will make fresh dumplings to go in the stew. Nice to have an easy meal tonight.

Deb, that's too bad...hearing lots of tales of sudden closures affecting folks' plans...and many have prepaid and don't get refunds.
Megan...that's MY kind of pot pie...worth every minute of effort. Can remember my grandma making individuals for 75 for annual Mother-Daughter banquet at church!
Helen, what's the word today from the travelers?? Are they due in tomorrow?
They are working on a replacement place right now. I think that all the last minute stuff was adding up and now this sent them all over the top. I e-mailed my sister about if they had paid for it ahead of time and no answer yet.
talked to Ceil a little while ago, they are in Chicago, train supposed to leave 7 their time....she had a wonderful time, but is ready for home.

39 people, Lynn. They should be able to find a place according to my niece, but at this late date, the price is higher. Maybe they will luck out and find a compassionate restauranteur who won't hold them over the barrel.

Golly - you guys had some great Eagle Viewing today, especially at OUR NEST !!
I did see a Red-Shouldered or Red-Tailed Hawk one of the two, perched in a tree about 150 yards from my office today...that was a nice surprise.
Can't check the sky for my star tonight...on a clear night viewing is acceptable at the apartment, but at work, blotto, too many city lights, can only see the Moon and the brighest stars and planets.
Noise out back has quit after getting a Lot Louder first...
Caltrans wouldn't open up - quick time picture just said something like trying to establish communication...it never did.
Well, time to get warm and clean...

MITS : I think the Train # for the Capitol Limited is 29, 30 or 31 - I will call the 800-number in the morning regarding the schedule...would really like to be on the platform when the choo choo comes through! Sure won't know which car to wave the hardest at, though! Then again, I could possibly get called in to work :( so I am going to restrain myself from getting too excited about it! ☺

Hip, hip, Hooray! Just got an e-mail from my cousin:
Just got off the phone with Dorothy and Bob can now move the 2nd toe on his RIGHT foot as well as his left. The neurosurgeon came in and told him to move his toes and he moved his left and then told him to move his right and the second toe moved. HOORAY.
He will be moved to Barrows Institute for rehab tomorrow. Last we heard it will be for 5 to 6 months time. Keep the prayers coming as they are being answered.
On the wedding front, new restaurant has been secured at a cheaper price than the first. Sometimes things just fall into place so nicely.

So many of us on here getting a bug. This must be an extra bad strain and very contagious. I did have a Flu shot...I did not have the Flu...had an intestinal virus. It really knocked me down on my butt! Any of you that have it now or get it in the future, try very hard to eat and drink something as soon as possible. That will help you to keep your strength and fight off that bug...Rest, Rest, Rest!

I was just thinking today that I don't believe I've had a really 'killer' case of the flu since I began getting the shots. I still get milder forms of the curse, but not the kind that keep you in bed for a week. (Knock on any wooden construction). The Hong Kong Flu, which I came down with Dec 31, 1969, kept me in bed or bathroom for most of a week; then I got up and did some light work around home; got a relapse and was in bed for nearly another week.
I was so pale you could see through me when I went back to work.
So, thank God for the flu shots!

Cold and icy here this morning- had to carry dog down icy outside steps... still no cam:(
