We've been working hard to complete the new power system for the cam. Here is a shot of the new solar panel, note the eagle in the tree behind the panel.

Happy Birthday Megan ((((Paula)))) Magpie Glad you enjoyed Glo's Gliompses today. The adults soaring like that together was awesome to watch!!!
Good morning everyone including our Belle who seems to be having breakfast at the nest today. I am signing in from work real quickly. It was a relatively quiet night for which Dex and I are both grateful.
Enjoy your day. Keep an eye on the nest there may be a special present in store for Megan placed there before this day is over :).
Thanks, Glo:) hope Dex is feeling better. Taking my dog to the vet later today..shhh... if he hears, he'll hide under the bed. Hey Helen, you and Jo sent me the same card, you both know me well, I'll see you on the island:)
So here is a little Turkey Tale from my friend in New York which you might find interesting...
"There is also one very large tom that has no beard at all. Maybe it got pulled out from all of the snow. If snow conditions are right a snow ball the size of a soft ball can form on the beard. As the turkey scratches for food it keeps hitting the snow ball with it's feet and it pulls the beard out, usually a few hairs at a time. I often find the hairs(which I think, are modified feathers) around the feeder. "

Hi Deb now, too... I think I already said Hi to everyone else. Hedgie must have gone back to bed!
My two visiting friends from NC, one has what sounds like food poisoning...she had spinach for lunch AND dinner...so our plans are on hold for a little while. That's just plain poopy ! Popeye would not be pleased! So I will close out the live video and make it one less person competing for bandwidth.. TTFN xo
Awww Magpie That turkey needs a toupee for its chinny chin chin. Maybe the goofball ex gov from IL will sell him one for a fee ya know.
He is gonna need the money when all is said and done. Yep I know still gets his pension...argh....what is worng with that picture. But I don't think he will have a pension once the criminal court case is done with him.
OK time for shift change here. Some sleep time later this am and then hopefully out to find some eagles this pm while the sun is shining.
Legend of the Panda...I have heard different stories fro visitors at the zoo...this is a newbie for me...taken from Atlanta's update on Thursday...rather have a video if XL.......
Thursday, January 29 You love them for their distinctive coloration, and you know they’re China’s national treasure. But did you know there was an old legend from their native land that tells the story of how giant pandas ended up black-and-white?
The Legend of the Panda
According to legend, giant pandas were once pure white. Perhaps this is why the story’s heroine – a young Chinese shepherd girl – occasionally encountered friendly pandas among her white sheep. Disaster struck one day: a marauding leopard attacked one of the girl’s panda friends. The girl rushed into the fray to try to save the panda, who escaped with his life. The girl was not so lucky.
When the panda told the others of the girl’s death, they were devastated. As a symbol of their mourning, the pandas coated their front legs with ashes. As they dried their tears, the ashes stained their eyes black. As they held each other close, the ashes colored their shoulders. As their keening wails of grief grew too loud to bear, the pandas raised their paws to their ears, turning them black, too. Ever since, giant pandas have borne the black stains.
Good Morning all you regulars! Good to see and hear from all of you. I was just in time to watch our eagle for a short time. Sorry I missed Belle's breakfast. Great pic from early 3:39 am from Sharon of one of our eagles in our nest!
Wish I could have made you a Mounds Bar Cake....full of dark chocolate batter, dark chocolate icing, and lots of coconut! One of the most awesome cakes I have ever eaten...right up there with Maraschino Cherry Nut Cake ! Go For It !
Oh, Red, that was too cruel..I'll eat a piece of chocolate for ya! I have a Lindt intense orange dark chocolate bar with almond slivers-some of the best chocolate I've ever had.

Well, Sissy, I guess it is a good thing I didn't put a "c" in front of opulation, might have been pulled from the Blog for misbehavin'.
TTFN - working on heading out, friends are coming to a Walk in Clinic, I think I will try to find sick lady friend an Ammonia Coke...anyone heard of that? Supposed to be great for nausea, and doesn't taste so bad... They have them at our Patterson's Drug Store...
my grandmom used to mix coke and ammonia together, also we had coke syrup....its a wonder with all these home remedies we did not die when we were young
Oh, sorry Sissy, I only had a couple of pieces of chocolate... shall we discuss salads now??
Hey Jim:) thanks for the bday wishes! I do love those eagles, but I don't share chocolate too well, did put one of my Roche chocs in kid's lunch this am, tho.
Thinking of Paula and her family a lot today, sure the ceremony of remembrance for her Mom will be beautiful.
Agreed, MITS, - just made us Sweet and Strong I guess. My mother used to give us kids "Vydalin" drops, they were nasty! But I guess they worked...☺ Oh another one, Kaopectate, pretty awful, but worked well ! odd that the sound is good when it is dark, but starts cutting out in a.m., must be directly related to people working nearby..

Before I forget, there are some nice links regarding the Starr Ranch Barn Owl cam in CA, posted on the Puleston site. Five eggs now.
I did say TTFN, so I guess I better. xo
MITS That is a wonderful legend...sure sounds like it could be true if you ask me!
That's sweet, Mits:)
And thanks, I'll take that Bonaire forecast- as long as there's water, I can survive that heat-surf's up!

And sometimes it is worth pretending you are in Finland...seven hours head start ☺
CC Osprey cam went down again. I finally noticed the Osprey had moved in forever.
Red: Mrs. Red did not let you take a Core Sample to test drive it ???
You always need to make sure it is safe for everyone else to eat it!
☺
Oh, Red, that was too cruel..I'll eat a piece of chocolate for ya! I have a Lindt intense orange dark chocolate bar with almond slivers-some of the best chocolate I've ever had.

Info on Libby Dam cam from the Maine Forum:
Chris, I am sorry it's taken so long to get back with you but I was hoping I would have some answers for you, but at this point I don't. The department of the Army has contracted it's Information Technology (computer service) out and by doing so has replaced many of it's computers, the Eagle Cam and hosting server among many of the ones replaced. As you know it's a team effort to keep the cam up and running but some of the players have retired or been reassigned. I have requested assistance but on the priority list the cam may not be as high as I would like it to be. Being a branch of the Army, mission always comes first. As the nesting season approaches I'm hoping we will get closer to the top of the priority list. Lets keep our fingers crossed and we hear from the contractor soon. Thanks to you and the group for being so faithful, I hope I haven't let you down. Mark
Me, too, Paula!
That's too bad, Deb:(
DEb Thanks for the post. It makes sense, is understandable...but after all, the Eagle is the National Symbol, maybe that will help. ☺
BWE Eagle checking and probably rollling the eggs...
eagle at BWO
See that MITS, and all the turkeys got into the Get Small machine and turned into little birds..
they sure did, Margy
That is the same thing they said on the Maine Forum, Margy!
Have you been to the Hilton Head Osprey cam. It is empty right now, but I guess there was Osprey HP going on this morning!
yeah you would think out national symbol would get some priority, but guess not.
Well, I guess my brain is working okay then...and the return of a ealthy Eagle opulation, sure seems to am encouraging and optimistic thought for the future of the country.
I take them down at end of year, Deb, try to keep my favs to a limit, when nothing is going on
All this talk of chocolate and cake is killing me!!! Ya'll behave!
(where is that Get Small machine?)
I want the "Get Small" machine, too.
"ealthy opulation" what in the world is that?
I'm working on it Sissy, - that will be how I make my millions !
I think Belle and Liberty are headed over to Sharpsburg for some Chocolate....
Could it be "HP" Margy? :)
Oh Oh Oh, Roflambo - thought you said Get Smell Machine !!
I think my parents invented the Get Small Machine...
I saw a nice picture of the two birds at Hilton Head on the Puleston site...they were Awewome, Deb !
my grandmom used to mix coke and ammonia together, also we had coke syrup....its a wonder with all these home remedies we did not die when we were young
Ammonia coke???? no thank you-
think BRS is making a pit stop.
it worked:)
Agreed, MITS, - just made us Sweet and Strong I guess.
My mother used to give us kids "Vydalin" drops, they were nasty! But I guess they worked...☺
Oh another one, Kaopectate, pretty awful, but worked well ! Chocolate, then salad, Megan, you might need some of that ! ☺
I think I remember saying TTFN, I think I better try that again.
Boy, do I enjoy a day off !
Back from getting blood work done. Have I missed anything important. Going back to read over comments.
ok, just read about it, just make sure you use Spirits of Ammonia- not the cleaner.
I am not eating salad.. no worries.
yes it was spirits of ammonia, and sometimes she gave it to us straight...if it was the other kind we would be dead
my grandma, came from Poland, but she could read and speak English...what a concept, a foreigner coming to this country and learning the language.
sounds like the eagles may be close by
Hi gang.
Margy, certainly do remember Barracini's! And ammonia cokes...but gotta tell you, it's better in Pepsi than in Coke. Fuuny story....when I was pregnant w/ Carolyn, my MIL and I were in Tavenners and I almost passed out--it was very hot!--and the clerk ran to Patterson's and got me water w/ ammonia in it...this nurse had never heard of ingesting ammonia...but it did the trick! Ever since, I find it to be not only a great nausea settler, but also a great pick-me-up if you are running low on get-up-and-go!!!
How 'bout Fletcher's Castoria??? Remember it?
It's been snow-flurrying here...anyone else? 35°!!
How about rum and Coke??
well my get up and go, got up and went a long time ago, better go to store and get some:)
OOOHHHH, Fletcher's Castoria. Gave me a bad taste in my mouth just reading the name! Paregoric was one of my mom's favs. She gave it to us for a lot of different things.
now your talking, Megan...that is my d-i-l's moms' fav drink, she is a skinny mini, so she uses it with diet coke, and gold Bacardis'
tee-hee...I like Fletcher's":)
Yeah, but now I know she gave it to us to knock us out!!!!
yes, that was what whiskey, tea and honey was for when we had bronchitis
no wonder I can't remember my childhood
Rum and coke is good! But I loke gin and tonic better!
Paragoric was good for alot of things...teething (rub it on gums), upset tummy, to get a fussy baby to sleep!! And I loved the taste! I don't think it's even available anymore...remember we used to have to sign for it.
I would like to forget a large part of my chilhood...lol...
anyway-WE HAVE A NEW THREAD!!!
And Terpin Hydrate and Codeine cough medicine?
I hear ya, Lynn, gin and tonic for me too;)
Osprey in Hilton Head!
hmm, guess it is too early to have one,,,do have my key limes in the frig, like to use them insted of the big ones in g&t's and bloody marys.
break over for BRS
I think "Old Forester" is good for most ailments. Thats my favorite Burbon.
My mother gave Paregoric for everything too. I believe paregoric was made from opium. Know I know why I liked it. lol
Speaking of old time remedies...When my oldest daughter was about two, I discovered she had pin worms. I read a very old home remedy medical book and it said to give a quarter cup of turpentine in a cup of milk, which I did. She later became silly and was falling all over the place. I guess she got drunk! It's a wonder I didn't kill her! BAD MOMMA!!
SORRY, I DIDN'T FINISH THAT STORY:
I later found out that the concoction was suppose to be administered in an ENEMA!
