Morning everyone. Lots of noise in ME, but no feathers in sight. Beautiful day here in western PA. I am off to Pittsburgh to see my cousin in Mamma Mia! this afternoon. Will look out for the resident peregrines near the Tower of Learning.
Happy Eagle watching day to you all, will check in tomorrow.
Not all software clears memory when it gets closed and the only way to clear memory is to turn off power. Rebooting will clear some of it but power should be turned off at least every couple of days. I was a computer technician for most of my adult life so I know how they work.
Has DEB departed on her weekend journey??----I so envy her!!---she goes to all these interesting "cool" places!!----Wish I was about a 100 years younger!!---ho!!
Red, maybe you can tell me why I can't read my bank statement online? It says I need Adobe to read it, and I do have adobe, but it won't open statement??? I guess I need to read my Computer for Dummies book. :)
Good Morning, Norma, Granny and Dana. Norma, my puter was soooo slooow this morning, so, I shut down the whole works then started all over again...works like a charm now. I have had to do that every day this week. Ours is not to wonder why.
RED!---I didn't know that!---Now I will be less confident to ask you a question!!---(ho)--I used a computer several years before I retired!---Any thing wrong--- a tech person would be there from the state!!---so never did learn how the machine works!!---I am a DUMB!!! DUMB!!!
NORMA, we need MORE INTELLIGENT people like you, working at the polls. I have seen some real confused people working there. I think they get overwhelmed with so many people standing in line.
Thanks Red, I think your right about problems on the Banks end. I tried to pay some bills online the other day and the site was "Unavailable at this time". They do seem to have problems.
Good Morning to Each & Everyone of You Eagle Buddies
We were all thinking of you yesterday, Norma. We knew you were enjoying every minute of your well spent time. Over in your emails, Margy has sent out a whooper of of pic of our PA turkeys.
Good Cloudy Morning! At least that is what it is here! Didn't see any eagles here or at ME. I like that they have the popup separate cam---I can leave it on but just minimize. Wanda, I viewed the Conservation info on Steve's message & it told me there was a NEW version of Adobe which I dwnlded. I think if your Adobe wouldn't open, it would have told you to upgrade. New one is A 9, but my A 8 opened ok & could be used. BTW, altho I won't attend, the Cons. list of events shows several times and places but NOT the dates. DUH
Hi, everyone, we made it to Chamberlain and it is just misting a little. Hard to believe the interstate is closed about 70 miles from here. I am off to explore before the snow hits.
Thursday, November 6 Lun Lun and the cub are doing just great. The cub weighed 3,118 grams yesterday.
3,118 grams of super cute Since all is well with these two, I thought I would use this update to brag a little about Zoo Atlanta’s first baby panda, Mei Lan. This year we set some big goals for her to learn many new behaviors through training. She learned to shift from area to area last year as well as the come command. This year we wanted to work with her to learn: 1) target (placing her nose on a given target); 2) eye and ear (present her eyes and ears to the mesh for examination); 3) paws up and down (present the pads of her paws at the mesh and then placing her paws back on the ground);4) open mouth; 5) down (laying on her belly); 6) up (presenting her chest to we can see her chest and abdomen);and 7) blood draw (voluntarily placing her forelimb into a PVC sleeve so that we can collect a blood sample). She quickly learned target and the paws up and paws down behaviors. The down and up commands both seemed to follow shortly after, though they need a little more fine tuning as she sometimes lies down sideways against the bars or only stands up halfway. The eye and ear behaviors are slowly coming along. She is making small steps in the right directions. Open mouth seemed a little more challenging for her, but I am happy to report that last night she had a breakthrough and is now opening her mouth for short periods of time when asked. The blood draw behavior is also making great progress. She already places her forelimb into the sleeve correctly. This behavior has a few more steps for her to learn, but I would say she is about halfway there.
Her progress with all these behaviors just reminds us all just how smart our first cub is!
All training with the giant pandas is conducted through a barrier, because we do not go into the same enclosure with the adults or Mei Lan. Positive reinforcement is used to train behaviors. Basically, when the animal performs the correct response to a command, he or she receives a reward which is usually food. If the animal doesn’t perform the correct response, it does not receive a reward. Participation in training is voluntary for the animal. The animal can refuse to participate at any time and simply walk away from the trainer. Usually, the pandas are eager to train and rarely choose to leave a training session. Good morning! Glad to see all of you fowl friends. Norma, are you all rested from your long day? BEt you were bored yesterday w/o being able to chat w/ us. Well, no leaves today...rained really hard this am, and I know better than to be dragging extension cords around on wet ground! Plus leaves don't blow well when wet! So guess I'll clean house today instead.

Hey, Mits...big news from NZ about changes/renovations, etc. Guess you have inside information???!!!! Trams, parking garage, underground parking, new infrastructures....it's only going to take 15 years!!!!
defintely need more parking, but don't want them to do too many changes, most of the buildings are historical.....it is a beautiful zoo, but needs to be more user friendly for disabled people...JMHO ☺
How neat, Red. Thanks!! Forwarded it on to a friend is from Peru....don't know whether she types her family/friends in Spanish or English, but all the things needed for Sp. are there!!
Hi again, everyone. It is snowing like crazy here now, but it just started about a half hour ago. The wind is about 40 mph. There are reports of 38" of snow in Deadwood, 6-8' drifts, but it is slowing down out west.
We will, it isn't bad here yet, but sometime in the night it will get worse. I heard there were some 20' drifts on the Pine Ridge Reservation, but not sure if it is true. It was on the news, but I will wait for pcitures.
good for Barney (Bush Dog) he bit a reporter.....the idiot reached down to pet him with a bunch of papers in his hand....dog probably thought he was going to get smacked....or he just knows the press is scum....JMHO:).as a young child I was taught how to approach a dog...you let them sniff, then you go under its chin, not approach from above
I also think Barney is getting up there and is probably not wanting to be around a lot of people. He was over to the side when both reporters approached him...he was minding his own business.
They just closed the interstate, I90, from Mitchell to the Wyoming border. It isn't that bad yet, but they don't want to spend the night rescuing stranded motorist like they had to yesterday. They are being proactive tonight. Mitchell is 80 miles from the Minnesota border.
I don't remember where Deb is, but I just read this report:
RAPID CITY, S.D. – A wintry blast of punishing wind and more than 3 feet of snow in places pummeled the Northern Plains on Thursday, knocking out power to thousands and forcing highways to close. As much as 40 inches of snow fell in higher elevations of western South Dakota's Black Hills as the early season blizzard caused havoc. Drifts as deep as 6 feet covered roads in Spearfish.
"It's a raging blizzard out there," said Jeff Schild, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Rapid City.
Weather problems halted or disrupted traffic on Interstates 80, 90 and 94 in the Dakotas, Nebraska and Wyoming.
In Rapid City, a wind gust of 78 mph was measured late Wednesday, and gusts of 60 mph were still being reported Thursday morning.
The snow came down — sideways might be a better description — at a rate of 3 inches an hour overnight. It slacked off to 1 to 2 inches per hour late Thursday morning, Schild said.
At least until tomorrow around noon. That is why we left early, I wanted to be stranded closer to Rapid City. It is supposed to be upper 30's tomorrow and then in the 40's for the weekend. Rapid City only got about 10" of snow, so it will melt fast.
Deb should have gotten that snow mobile like you said earlier Wanda. That is some deep snow out there! Stay safe & use your common sense, Deb! We're counting on you to come home safe!
Wanda, where I am is only supposed to get 6" of snow. It is the wind that is so bad, that is why they are closing the intestate. When you can't see, you usually end up in the ditch!
No, I am a wimp, but I knew it was supposed to clear up fast, so I thought we should get half way before the snow hit. If it weren't supposed to warm up, I would have stayed home.
I have posted a photo of the gifts that were given to me and Gene at the Open House dinner, for those of you that didn't get a chance to see them. Everything is sooo beautiful! Take a look on my "Just for Fun" blog.
Wanda - SSG Ryan knows his upcoming assignment. One year at Ft Stewart for schooling and training and then he is assigned to Ft Benning GA as Drill SSG.... I think that lasts for 3 yrs. STATESIDE !!!!

MANATEE CAM
Hello all you beautiful people. Been trying to stay on task today, watching this bear is a full time job, I tell ya!!
Thanks for the manatee cam Helen. I needed another cam in my life!!!!
I hear eagles in Maine but don't see em.
Hi, Sissy! Checking in between vacuuming and scrubbing! Gloomy here and raining again, but not cold. How's weather down your way?
Are you getting a WowWee Panda?????
Sissy, was your trip to Ripley for a family gathering or was there a fall fest going on? Glad you had some more fun time!! Are you going to Charlottesville w/ Sharon?
We went to Ripley to a spiritual retreat We go twice a year, it is absolutely fabulous.
I am gonna ask Santa for a Wow Wee Panda!!
It is 67 degrees and beautiful here. I think it is gonna change soon though, supposed to get cold!! BOOHOO. This great weather has spoiled us. Reckon this is Indian Summer, huh?
We are leaving for Charlottesville Tuesday. Yeah, I have to go, couldn't stand it when I didn't go when she was sick with her liver abscess.
2 eagles in Maine!
Retreat sounds like something we all could use!!
Hope Santa is good to you!!
Yeah, I'm afraid that these temps will be short-lived.
Glad you are going w/ Sharon. Have they given any indication of how long they will keep her??
Sissy, I wonder if you and Lolly went to the same kid of Retreat? What do you do there?
I think you should ask Santa to give you a trip to Altanta for Christmas ;)
Sorry...Kind of Retreat.
There's nothing worse than having someone you love in the hospital and you cannot be with them!
Sissy...you know Sharon will have the love and prayers of all the Eagle Momsters with her...not to worry about a thing. We will pray for peace and patience for you!
EMPTY NEST ALERT!!!
Sorry, just wanted to see if anyone was awake. I am all alone on here, talking to myself.
Wanda you are not alone!! I am here, watching the Maine eagles.
I'm glad you are there Sissy. Sometimes I feel as if I am on the wrong page. :)
Tai is on his way inside:)
I'm still checking in, Wanda!! BTW...you've got mail.
Both eagles in nest!!!
EAGLE ALERT OUR NEST!!
Both of em!!
HEY EVERYBODY!!!!
LOOK EVERYONE!! BELLE AND LIB ARE HERE!
Hi Megan! Thought I was alone.
Now one on the edge.
Hello- now just one eagle..
Lib is still there.
see Lib:)
Luney is awake
Oh boy, I'm up just in time to see some feet !
Beautiful Primo at Feeding Bin...
And some Heaven in Pix Pa ...
Sorry, invisible Primo now...
Lady at Moose Watch filling the feed bin.....
MEverything I say disappears on the next refresh...I'm gonna stop doing this.
Remember to find some RED for Friday....Your Eagle Beads Count!
TTFN xo
But now the Moose is eating so maybe he will be there for a few minutes...
And I'm already taken. lol
RED Good One! And it sounds like MRS. RED is ONE LUCKY GAL !!
She might disagree. lol
Hey, Red, won't the
issus share??? LOL!
Missed our eagles and can only see a little part of Primo!!
Duh...hit refresh and there's Primo in all his lazy glory!!!
I'll bet Primo could be dangerous if he wanted to be.
I'm sure he could, Red!! They are so huge!! Saw one on the side of the road in upstate New York once...he looked every bit of 7 ft. tall!
Cams tend to distort size perspective, so hard to judge how big things really are.
Height at the shoulders generally ranges between 6 ½-7 ½ feet (over 2 metres).
They can weigh 1200 to 1500 lbs.
Big Boys. lol
Bunch of leaves at the Snowman Cam - the turkeys would love to make a mess out of that !
I'd hate to hit a moose with my car :)
Margy, I mowed my yard yesterday, mulching up most of the leaves. Today, just 24 hours later you cannot tell I touched them. Leaves are really falling today.
Speaking of turkeys...Gene just brought my Thanksgiving turkey home. A 25 pounder for 37cents a pound.
How do you make th "cents" symbol?
Cannot make it on PC keyboard.
Red, we cannot see our driveway for the leaves. It is a loosing battle until the last leaf falls.
Dustin is coming tomorrow for the weekend. Hope it doesn't rain so he can mow the grass and leaves. We only have an acre, but a lot of obstacles.
There's lots of special characters you can make using the ALT key and number pad ie; ◙♀♂☼♀z♪
But not the cent character.
Red, I blew leaves on Monday for the third time....yesterday everything was completely covered again...can't even see the driveway! Rain this morning. So tomorrow I start all over again!
Oh, by the way, Red, I finally got Adobe installed properly and was able to read my bank statement. I don't know what happened. I was always able to see statement before, but suddenly did not have ADOBE?? It's all good now!
Wonder why...wasn't there a cent key on a standard typewriter? Been so long since I used one, not sure anymore!!!
Well, that doesn't make any "cents" at all!
Hooray for Wanda!! Did it update to the newest version?
Yesm there was, Lynn.
I believe the typewriter keyboard was the same as PC keyboard. I don't remember the cent symbol there either.
Yes it did, Lynn...I'm a happy camper now :)
I think the Cents key is obsolete 'cause nothing costs that little anymore.
Wanda I loved your EMPTY NEST ALERT from earlier... Enjoy your time with the grandson, don't let him Hog the Mouse !
RED - maybe you ought to just throw in the towel and go out and play in the leaves you could make trails and play "Fox and Geese" with Mrs. Red.
Got to get ready for work now, you all have a GREAT EVENING
xo
¢ Hey I found it. Hold down the Alt key and punch 155 on the keypad. Numbers at top don't work.
Seems like I remember typing a c, hitting backspace and putting in a slash mark / to make the cent symbol.
¢.....CAN'T REALLY SEE IT
hold down alt and on the number keypad (not the top row number) type in 0162 (alt+0162) ¢¢¢
The degree mark is alt - 2 4 8.
°
Good evening everyone. I just busted up right in the middle of this conversation.
BTW - before I forget, got some early morning ISS views coming up, including one VERY BRIGHT on the morning of Nov 8 around 6:06 in the morning...
NCTC is not playnig well with friends right now....Wah !
Hey, Mits...big news from NZ about changes/renovations, etc. Guess you have inside information???!!!! Trams, parking garage, underground parking, new infrastructures....it's only going to take 15 years!!!!
roflmbo....Sharon
That's a good one, Margy...yo are right, not much available under a dollar!!
Have a good shift...12 hrs??
only if the people who live in the neighborhood allow it....know they don't want overhead trams like at amusement parks
Hey you gals and guy are so smart to figure that keyboard stuff out!! Now I won't have to type "degrees"!

Hi again, everyone. It is snowing like crazy here now, but it just started about a half hour ago. The wind is about 40 mph. There are reports of 38" of snow in Deadwood, 6-8' drifts, but it is slowing down out west.
all the ALT characters don't work. At least on mine they don't. Seems like any with a 4 in them fail. Not sure of the cause.
wow...Deb....been looking on weather sites and reading about it....stay safe!
Ch. 9, Mits.
thanks...I'll check it out
Deb, one place they said 10' drifts!! Wow...winter is truly there! Please keep it!
I'm sure they'll repeat the report on the 6 o'clock show, Mits!
We will, it isn't bad here yet, but sometime in the night it will get worse. I heard there were some 20' drifts on the Pine Ridge Reservation, but not sure if it is true. It was on the news, but I will wait for pcitures.
Time for dinner....Marie's potpie on the menu!
I'm having Kielbasa and sourkraut tonight. One of Paula's favorites.
good for Barney (Bush Dog) he bit a reporter.....the idiot reached down to pet him with a bunch of papers in his hand....dog probably thought he was going to get smacked....or he just knows the press is scum....JMHO:).as a young child I was taught how to approach a dog...you let them sniff, then you go under its chin, not approach from above
That's the right way, Helen...good for Barney!!! Sic 'em, boy!
The reporter will probably try to sue the prez now!!!!
roflmbo....that is exactly what a friend said when I sent her the video:)
Time for a short panda nap before Jeopardy. BBL.
Deb, are you in danger of getting stranded where you are?
STAY SAFE DEB!
I won't do anything dumb, Jo. It is only 200 miles to Rapid from here, so slow and easy is on store for the drive.
ONLY 10 INCHES OF SNOW! LOL Martisburg would be at a stand still for 3 days with that much snow!
Deb, you sound excited..I think you are a gutsy lady ;)
10" beats Deadwood and Lead with over 40". Rapid is like Denver, it might snow a lot, but it doesn't stay around long.
No, I am a wimp, but I knew it was supposed to clear up fast, so I thought we should get half way before the snow hit. If it weren't supposed to warm up, I would have stayed home.
We are going to dinner, bbl.
DEB!---Just saw the snow in SD on news!----2 ft. with 60 mile winds!!
Pray WIND slows down & roads are plowed----HAVE FUN!!----
