Rainy Day thread.
We've been working on the cam on several fronts. We plan on some fast maintenance up in the nest hopefully next week.
We have also set up a new, flash-driven live feed that will be run out of NCTC. We hope that will make things more reliable over the past couple of years.
More on this soon.

I'll go call others over
THANK YOU STEVE....THAT IS REALLY GOOD NEWS..WORKING ON THE LIVE FEED CAM!!!!!
GOOD MORNING DANA....
Oh, my...won't that be wonderful to have the LIVE FEED back up and running? :) :)
Of course, you know what that means...housework will have to wait!!!
I have two vices in my life...Crab Legs and Eagle Cam. lol :) ;)
Well, Steve, that would certainly be wonderful.
Good luck!
Morning, Dana, Jim and Wanda. I think Margy hit the hay...not sure!
Good Morning, Paula. I think Margy is probably asleep at her computer. She didn't say she was leaving. LOL :)
Are you going to see your Mom today? Be careful, the roads are full of leaves and wet.
That sounds great, Steve! And if someone is going up into the nest can they get that darn spiderweb...
So nice to catch up from Thursday on all the great comments.
So glad Sharon is doing Good...amen on those prayers.
Prayers working hard in Bluefield still I see for Sissy...ty God.
Also glad to hear Paula about your Mom....
Seen Lolly dear made it on...ouch. Take it easy there Lolly.
Thanks for the Florida Site Margy.
Had checked earlier end of Oct. Hadn't seen anything. I enjoy that site. The fountain is beautiful when they have it working. That gal Osprey cracked me up last yr. I did get to see
their chick and watch it grow.
Seen Dave was back on with photos.
Mits, Ceil and M. Margaret (maybe it was just Mits and Ceil) visited with our two Eaglets M & M gals. Bet that was a fun lov'n time!!! With hugs laughter and meat balls!
Megan send Steve an EMAIL about wipping Spidey out...
Well thanks, Wanda, for telling me about the new thread. I was busy commenting to myself back there.
Hahahaha.
"Chattanooga Chu Chu" on the radio again this morning.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Megan, you have 60's and rain, I have 30's and snow. Luckily, it is supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow!
Wanda heading for Crabs Legs end of month. Couldn't get everyone together until then. Yummy I am so hungry for Crab Legs.
Lowest gas in the area is at Costco this morning ... $2.22/Gal.
The majors are closer to $2.50 though.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Gas is getting down in CA finally, I haven't looked lately here, not sure where we are.
Both osprey at CC.
Got gas yesterday at Winchester, VA
Sheetz $1.799
My new bird feeders are a success. Even the cardinals are sitting in them, now!
DEB...maybe you could make a bunch of your feeders and sell them :)
We had a feeder like that many years ago, that Gene made. I was pretty big, maybe 3 X 5 ft. I can't remember why we replaced it with store-bought feeders???
LOL...I wasn't 3 x 5 ft...the feeder was!!! :) :)
I could, Wanda, they only took a little while to make, probably an hour for both of them and were pretty inexpensive to make. I have one hanging up with bird food, the other on the ground with squirrel food, I just have to convince the squirrels that it is better than stealing from the bird feeders.
Osprey just left Cape Coral.
Gas here in Martinsburg is $2.09...$2.19 in Shepherdstown and, as Dana said, undet $2.00 in Winchester, Va. That is a 30¢ difference. Probably worth a trip 20 miles up the interstate.
GOOD SATURDAY A.M. EVERYONE:)
Deb, the squirrels may be the reason we took the big feeder down. Probably stuffed their pouches full of the bird seed and not much left for the birds. We probably have 20-25 squirrels here.
Good Morning, Helen...I had to smile when I read that both the M&M girls are walking. Would love to see a photo of that :)
Wanda, I have had 6, but usually just 2 squirrels.
Deb I am in action with new bird feeder project. It has to work from me filling from my ramp. Then swinging it out into yard. Not in the fenced yard, that for doggie.
Now I'm working on bottom to catch feed with wire overtop. For smaller birds to fly in and out top and sides. So top feeder will be for Cardinals, Blue Jays you know bigger birds. Bottom for smaller birds.
Seed won't be all over the ground.
SHARON, hope you slept well last night. Safe travels for you and SISSY today. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME ;)
I bet Maggie is trying to do everything that Mollie does.
Got a great buy at BonTon for Braydens birthday gift for this evening. Lots of nice cloths marked down.
1 year mark lol this is gonna be FUN @!!!!!!!!@
DANA, are your bluebirds still around? My mother's leave right after their last babies fledge...don't come back til Feb. or March.
I need to get busy. BBL
We had blue birds a few weeks ago, don't know about now.
I didn't need anything fancy for bird feeders, just needed something that would accommodate more birds. This morning I had one cardinal and about 12 finches in the one feeder at one time.
Oh no Wanda mine stayed around all year long when we lived in Inwood. They stay around all year long on this north end too.
Belive me Deb mine won't be nothing fancy.
I just can't go out onto lawn to
refill the feeders like I did before. Although before I wasn't on the lawn on deck and steps. Feeders hung right up both areas of steps off deck. Never had to put feet into lawn.
Saw that this morning... Looks like the coons knocked out the battery from the feeder last night. All is fixed and working now.

Hello everyone
All of us (Buddy, Sharon and Me) say hello and we are doing okay.
That is good to hear, Thelma;)
Thanks T-Bird for the update.
Sounds good!
WowWee! I like what I am reading Steve - you got our Live Feed just where you wanted it to be! Thanks a
thousand times over!
Wanda I am so glad you clarified the size of that bird feeder!
So! The coons did it! Glad they didn't try to eat that little black box.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE
Yeah, Sharon is actually "looking human" again. Although she is dealing with lots of pain.
I was trying to check out the Hummer's nest.....Still looks like eggs in there.
I just love looking at the MT nest and then PLOPP the momma is in the nest. Always makes me jump back.
thanks for the update, Thelma. Are you still taking Sharon home today since she has so much pain?
Yes Deb Sharon will be going home today. The medicine has been pretty much taking care of the pain so that is another miracle.
Helen - I forget to check out the Forum on the PA Woods site...
Mystery has been solved! Thanks.
But Thelma Don't you hit any potholes! ((hugs))
T-Bird Be sure you read to Sharon Steve's remark on this home page.
Both of you should be really happy
about the LIVE FEED staying on Home Ground.
I'll sure try my hardest to miss the potholes Jo. :) I will read Steve's remarks, thanks for the heads up.
The leaf or bark is gone from our camera. :)
I am glad the medication is helping the pain, Sharon. Good advice, Jo, avoid those potholes!!
I wonder what is in the nest at Cape Coral. Looks like a trash bag.
I see I was slow on the pothole comment, Thelma already answered. :)
DEB - Please give me the link to
FL Cape Coral
I was deleting some favorites the
other day trying to free up some
disc space.......
Cape Coral Osprey
Thank you, Deb
Luney is very visible
Growing so fast
Have you added more memory space to your computer, Jo? It is very easy to do.
Hubby said he would do it
But don't you do it to the Hard Drive
Really looks like black plastic at the nest... not only in the center
but also on the right side
Deb - how easy is it to add space to my C drive.
Osprey flew in to the nest at CC
Yes, you add it to the hard drive. First you need to know what memory board you need. If you still have your manuals, that should tell you. Otherwise you can open your computer and look. It is just a matter of snapping in the new board, Jo. I have done it to three computers, the first took me about 15 minutes, I was worried I would do something wrong, the next two took abut 5 minutes beginning to end.
I think hubby has larger memory board & he just needs to take time to put it in - I'll watch this time.
Are you watching the Osprey at CC
Not only can DEB make BIRD FEEDERS, but she can fix 'puters, as well. Glad she is on our side :)
Yes, I am watching the osprey.
Never heard of a MEMORY BOARD..do they make them for humans, too?
The first time I asked questions at Best Buy, the guy there was very helpful. After that used the manual. Hearing it made me more comfortable doing it.
Good Idea, Wanda. I have a hard time paying for something I can do myself. The first computer I did wasn't mine, but I heard how much Office Max was going to charge to do it and decided it was time to learn.
Wanda - I'm going to check that out!
I sure could use a new memory board!
lol ((hugs))
Here is a good how to article:
PC world
I have a squirrel in the squirrel feeder! I put some apple in it, to lure them to it. It must have worked.
Thanks Deb
Guess what - that is about the only
mag that comes into my house anymore!
We are having a torrential
downpour!!!!!
Looks dry at the nest.....
I think we have a baby hummer!!
Now, I know we have a baby hummer!
my weather bug just alerted me to a Tornado watch til 7 today...it is 76° here now, Jo I was watching weather underground radar about an hour ago, and looked like rain was heading staight to your area, but missing the nest
I put two baby hummer pictures on my page.
I am off to run errands, bbl!
You hit it right on the head, Helen
That was quite a downpour and it started just as Ed walked into the house.
Deb there was an egg earlier this morning in the hummer nest - That was fast hatching!
ewwiee at BWO
My PC just shut down all by itself!
So I went and made my PNutButter/Jelly sandwich.
EWWIEE is still at BWO
Their Eagle cam will turn on in Dec
BBL
I was just think about that Jo.....how things will be heating up in the next few weeks, and we have a baby panda cub to watch grow too.:)
osprey just came back to CC, I have loved watching that cam...shouldn't there eagles be up and running soon...sorry there will be no feed from Tesoro this year, think I read that somewhere.
Hey! New photos from last week at BW are up:
Last Weekend
Bob
Don't think it missed the nest, we had a very windy downpour here. Wish we had something growing in the garden that could benefit from the rain...oh, well our well needs it.
Wow, Bob, those sunset pictures are beautiful! Love the bluebirds, too, have a lot of them in my yard.
I love bluebirds. The ones around here are very shy. It's difficult to get them to pose. ☺
The colors in that first bluebird pic are gorgeous.
beautiful....Bob:)
WEATHER UNDERGROUND RADAR FOR SHEPERDSTOWN
Here's my next vehicle-flying car
BOB - you have captures a lot of activity from the refuge. I love the sunsets!
MEGAN - Looks like they still get $ for license plates! Rip Off!
That would be so cool for you..
You could decal
MEGAN'S MARKET
on the side of it!
I can just see her flying around the nest now;)
Hey JO- here you go-
I'm back in Paoli with Sacco, our dog, holding down the fort. Yes I did bring Sacco inyesterday and today to visit Mason. Nurse Cathy thought I would bring him in today when the officials were not around. Whoops, I broke a rule again, I hate it when that happens.
Sacco and I breeze past the front door gate keeper, get to the second floor through the doors, in the hallway someone with a badge says, " aw is he a therapy dog?" I say "why yes he is!", " she says, "where is his tag?", I say, " well I don't know, he had it on this morning."
Mason was in bed so Sacco jumped on the bed and licked his face, made sure it was Mason and laid down with him for a while. That's therapy, is it not?. When we were leaving, another badged person with a patient in a wheel chair stops to let her pet Sacco, "is that a new addition to our therapy dogs?" " Why yes he is, but only for a little while." "What kind of a dog is he?" " Well he is anything you want him to be." We get on the elevator and Sacco hits the deck, badge lady says, " I guess he's not used to elevators yet." I say " I 've never seen him do that before!". I took him in today, under a lot less scrutiny since it is the weekend, and Sacco had a nice long visit. Mason was up in his chair so Sacco got in the other chair and they visited quite nicely.
Mason did some good work with the speech therapist yesterday, he was following a couple of commands and tracking some things quite well. Today I brought in some strips of bacon I cooked and as soon as one was out of the bag, Mason locked right in on it, he got a nice whiff and followed the bacon around like nobody's business.
Mason still has a little something so he has to stay in his room, but the therapists come in for their work. He has had a sensitive stomach, so they will change his feeding tube, which means a trip to Paoli Hospital, but only for a couple hours. As long he stays even, they will start the drugs sometime next week.
Love to all and thanks to everybody for supporting and holding us up. We can't do this without you!
Sacco, Sylvia, Brian and Mason
Mason's Update WHoo HOoo
Hi all. Catching up...slowly but surely. Busy here...washing curtains and windows. Waiting for dryer to finish so I can iron curtains now.
What wonderful news from Steve and NCTC folks...can't wait!!!! Cam looks good at the moment--bark gone again!
Powerful storm here awhile ago...knocked out my satellite internet.
Dana, yes Mary Margaret was with the M&M's, too!
Great Timing Megan!!! All sounds good
Yep, off to pick up kid- wish I had that flying car!!!
Loved Mason's update. I thought it was you, Megan, who did the shenanigans with the dog...probably something you might do if you so pleased :)
Instead of cleaning out the left-over stuff from Halloween in my office...I amused myself with some photos from our Open House Dinner...When you have time, BOB, check out JUST FOR FUN on my blog site.
OH WANDA! You should have been a comic writer! lol I sure hope Bob sees what you've done
roflmbo, Wanda
Well, Jo, it is so close to being true.:) :) Didn't have to give it much thought.
Ladies & Gents... I'll be back after I get myself presentable! ☺
costume lady; Thanks for the nice

eagle BWO
Very funny Wanda. When Michael brought the checks it was like Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First" (Now I'm showing my age).
DAVE, thanks for being a contributor to our entertainment. We love photos...I guess we don't have to tell you that!! And, thanks for being our friend.
Marvelous pics, Bob...as always!!
Wanda, your captions are just too funny!!!!
Ironing time. BBL!
BOB, Those bluebirds take my breath away. If my MOM could see sights like that, she woulD live forever. Besides her family, BLUEBIRDS AND FLOWERS ARE HER LOVES!
Bob, you take such beautiful sunsents...I was wondering if you Know CORKY, who also loves sunset photos. He was a friend of ours many years ago, and we lost track of him. He once framed a photo of a sunset and gave it to us just because he knew we loved sunsets.
SORRY....THE NAME IS: CORKY QUINN.
Very excellent pictures this week, Bob. [:~D]
How did you know we were all ready for a dose of the famous American eagle??
Question: Is there anything you can do to fix the format of the slideshow??
The speed settings, etc., block out the descriptive line, which sometimes all I have to I.D. the subject of the shot.
I think we all love your photos, and I know I do, Bob.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Wanda if Bob tells you he has an uncle Corky or that his dad was
called Corky - Well that's when I will really believe it's a small
world.....
slide show of Bob's pics work perfectly for me:)
Wanda- Never heard of Corky.
Jim - Unfortunately, I don't control the slide show features, the hosting site does.
YUCK! ND just beat Navy:(
eagles close by to nest in MAINE

I just heard Eagles at Maine...but didn't see any.
Good to "see" so many on here today...a lot was happening while I was snoozin...
I'm wondering about the mysterious "Bark" - seems to pick up shadows in the early morning and then clear....wonder just where the Object really is....
Sharon just called and is now on her way home with Thelma & Buddy. She said she is doing fairly well - She will touch base with us once she gets home.
I am on my way to Mass
yes, that it strange, Margy, beginning to wonder if the cam is doing a loop of previous days????
sun is setting, it is raining and we have a beautiful rainbow in the eastern skies
Wow - Rainbow! How Magical and Blessed, MITS ....It's leading Thelma and Sharon back to their roosts...
just looked, but we got some clouds moving in again...
Evening Eagle at BWO
MITS - I could not open the link to the Black Box Mystery - can you help me out....? I am in suspense !
Wow - Bob's photos, Deb's little hummingbird bobble heads, and Wanda's Comedy Pictorial! What a treat, all...
Can someone please call my office and tell them I am too busy at home watching and reading stuff to go to work tonight ???
So, is that Dad on Hummingbird nest with the bright scarlet on his neck? er, I mean, WAS on the nest...
Nuthatch at Pix Pa
MARGY...called your office and they said, if you don't come in, they won't let you off next NCTC OPEN HOUSE!
Well, thanks for trying Wanda - but I couldn't miss Next Year at NCTC - It's a life-changing event ! xoxo ♥ ♥ LOL !
I see ducks in the Intercoastal Waterway at Cape Coral....
It certainly is Margy. It is something hard to explain to anyone. You have to experience it yourself...in person.
But more than anything I am feverishly watching OUR NEST for some action !
Waiting for it, that is......
Hummingbird sure is posing for us...
Soooo beautiful and delicate....beak is as long as its body !
I guess it is just a Canal and not the whole intercoastal waterway in Cape Coral...spent some time in Florida right along a canal for a bit once....It was glorious! Down in Palm Beach County...now that's where to be in January and February !
♥ DANA ♥ Enjoy your birthday party with the Little Tyke...guaranteed enjoyment !
OKAY - WE GOT BIRDS !!
There they are!!
Singular, bird
No sooner said than done!
Oh, Man - - gone already !
And now we got rain and wind moving in in Berkeley County...knew it was coming...!
That was just a nanosecond.
No rain and wind here, yet.
Okay - Back !
Head and Tails!
Playing games with us, Margy. LOL
I'm repeating myself Okay Gone !
But it is NOT OKAY !
xo
So great to see them with you, Wanda, hope a few others got a peek too !
Looks like snow in Michigan !
I've got to pull on the bibs and find the Cinderella Fairy now...
Peace and Prayers, to all.
xo ♥
Probably gone for the night. Too dark to be playing games...time to roost.
Have a good evening Margy...hope it is a quiet one.
Okay - just read the Mystery Solution over on Yahoo Re: The Black Box ! Thanks Ladies.
Putting an Evening PIC up nest..then time to get ready !
Oh dear, many lost their homes in California to Wildfires, over 500 mobile homes destroyed. Those folks need our prayers.
Sayonara All
xo ♥
' Night Wanda.. Hope it is more quiet than last night! Had lots of domestics, one burglary in progress....things are just not the same anymore in this little community...Sigh....
xo
Every year, when those fires come to California and people are unprepared for fires, I think to myself: what would I want to save if a fire should destroy my home...it can happen anywhere to anyone. The first year that the reality of IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU, I gathered all my photos and placed them in a large metal suitcase, wrapped them in heavy foil and placed them in the basement, with concrete floors and walls. That is a part of your live that you cannot replace.
Hey, Margy...good night, I hope. It's been a bit busy today.
Another seasonal chore done....5 windows=12 curtain panels, 6 swags, 2 valances...what a job!! Now I need to get something to eat to refuel!!!
Had trouble finding the fairy but she finally showed up!
You all take care, Safe and Warm Wishes to all...
Hedgie, it sounds like the Whirling Dervish was present today !
♥ ♥ ♥
Hello everyone
I dropped Sharon off with Bev and Mattie a little over an hour ago. Hopefully they are home safe by now.
Hi Thelma, are you back home?
OK, that answers my question!
Yes, I'm home MITS.
Thelma, how was Sharon feeling when Sissy picked her up? I worry about her traveling with all that pain. :(
She was feeling some pain and soreness. I know, I worry about that too Wanda. She still is not able to eat enough to keep a bird alive.
I wish she could have stayed here until Thursday but she couldn't be by herself during the day.
did she eat that egg I told her to have you fix this a.m.????, when we were talking.
No MITS, she ate a small sausage biscuit. One of those mini Jimmy Deans.
I just got word that they are in Bluefield.
Is Sharon going to be able to sleep in her own bed tonight? Since they live next to each other, guess Bev (or Mattie) could stay with her, right Thelma?
that's too bad...just a plain egg and toast would be better for her stomach right now...yes, she really needs to have someone look after her.....my sisters were a true blessing to my healing process. I know you would if you could, but you are working full time, and that is very important to have a job.
Lynn, Sharon will be staying with Beverly, not at her house.
I hope those dogs of hers behave.....heard Buddy was a really good dog with her last night.
Yea MITS, Buddy watched over her last night. :)
I know she'll miss not being home with her dogs!
well, she can say hi to them thru a door, don't want any jumping up on her right now.
We're going to have to stay after her to eat right and let people know what she needs.
Yea MITS, I'm very thankful for my job.
Just glad to know that Sharon is back in the hometown. That's a great boost for her spirit. She will bounce back fast, I'm sure. She's a determined lady!!
Ditto that Lynn
Jim...things sound so awful in CA. It is so sad....and such a miracle that more people don't lose their lives in these infernos.
My SIL is a professional firefighter and I am so relieved that he's never had to deal with anything like that. Regular fires are bad enough.
Hi, I just got home. I talked to my sister in Huntington Beach and she said the smoke is horrible. She said she can't even see the sun. Only one station had fire coverage on it. My future nephew-in-law was having trouble finding a way home from work. His work wouldn't let him turn on the radio--how dumb is that? He had to call Dianne to find out how to get home.
dumb is correct, Deb
Deb, it sure makes one wonder what people are thinking!?
Deb, I think it goes a step beyond dumb--more like idiotic! Obviously a very caring employer, duh!!!
Sure glad my daughter and SIL got through LA yesterday...wonder if airport has delays because of all that smoke, etc....like does the particulate matter damage an airplane's engine??
Good evening to all my friends of fine feather and fur. I am at Sissy's now. Going to stay here for a few days. I am doing much better than I anticipated but it sure does hurt. I am so grateful that I am on the other side of this. I am triply grateful to all my friends on here that prayed me to this point. It is good to be back in Bluefield but it is going to be wonderful when I can go to my home.
Hi,Sharon, I have been wondering if you slept any better last night at Thelma's without nurses coming in every hour on the hour?
Sharon, glad you are home safe. At least, almost home.
Here is a link to the Orange County Register for fire news:
Orange County Register
.
Well, I'm signing off for now. I hope everyone has a good evening.
night, Thelma
little hummers are in view right now
really hard to see them,
deer on snowman cam
Evening, all!
Haven't been able to get on here since early this morning! Finally rebooted computer and now I'm on...
Have to go catch up on today's blog.
just was a drop off of food in Australia for the falcons
and there will be no sharing, one just grabbed it and took it to the back of the nest box
Memory cards increase your memory so your computer may run faster. Only another hard drive can add disk space. Jo, you must be desparate for disk space if you are deleting favorites...they really don't take up much space! Transfer your pics to CD's to get them off your computer or get another hard drive.
Whoa, Dave....that 320GB disk should hold a ton of pics.
I haven't checked out any pics yet, either!~
