Rainy Day thread.
We've been working on the cam on several fronts. We plan on some fast maintenance up in the nest hopefully next week.
We have also set up a new, flash-driven live feed that will be run out of NCTC. We hope that will make things more reliable over the past couple of years.
More on this soon.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 249 of 249Paula, where do you get a disk if you want to do that with pics?
oh, we just split....
I have a new hard drive and I am also starting to put my family pic albums onto a disc.
I was just getting tired of sorting through all my favorites - I new I wasn't saving any space by doing that. Just was cleaning it up a little...
Mits You go to Staples of Office Depot and buy a box of disc.
Then you just copy them.
Will put that on my list of things to do next week
Wanda - you may want to get an external hard drive that just plugs into your USB port.
Also, Circuit City, Staples, Best Buy have extra hard drives.
If you want to put pictures on CD, you need a CD R/W drive...one that can read and write...plus a program to do it. WMP can do it too, I believe (I use Nero)
Sorry, I meant Mits.
Pretty pics, Bob
Did ya'll say Betty's restaurant serves breakfast??
yes.....Betty's breakfast is great, especially the bacon yum
Rest well tonight, Sharon.
And Thelma, even tho' you've signed off...thanks for taking good care of our gal!!!
ROFLMAO....You're too funny Wanda! Loved it!
MMMmmmm.... bacon...
I am heading over to NCTC in the morning...I had to remake some videos for Sandy Burk for the education thingy...they are putting together a video disk for teachers to use...so I redid some of my videos...going to drop off at NCTC for Sandy and take a look-see for Lib and Belle. Figure I'll then get some breakfast at Betty's and head down to see Mom.
I have a Traveling Eagle Postcard from the IWS/CHIL Forum I wanted to take to see the nest, also. It's Traveling Eagle Steffani, Dr Sharpe's assistant. This is where I took Steff already.

SATURDAY UPDATE FOR LUNEY
Saturday,
November 15
Tonight I saw the cub trying to crawl. This is the first time I have seen this behavior. Scooting is the first method panda cubs use to move around. As we have mentioned before, scooting involves the cub using his limbs to more or less drag himself along on the floor; his body stays flat on the floor and his legs remain fairly splayed out from his body. As the cub develops more muscle strength, this behavior evolves into crawling, which involves the cub getting his legs underneath his body, pushing up off the ground and moving forward. Tonight I saw the cub get all four legs underneath his body and hover there for about 2-3 seconds, then he relaxed and laid on the floor. He did this three times and had moved forward about an inch. Then he was exhausted and he rested until Lun Lun picked him up a couple of hours later. I did not see him try to crawl again, but I am sure he will try again soon.
The cub's latest weight is 3.639 kg., which is just over 8 pounds.

Paula, what a cute idea. Loved the tour of Frederick...haven't been in that part of Frederick for umpteen years. I recognized Glo's account without seeing her name. Her walking the eagle for treats was a dead give-away.
It took Phil 3 1/2 hours to get home, normally a 20 minute drive. Lot's of stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic in 90 degree temps with no air conditioner, he wasn't happy.. He had to go a long way out of his way because of closed freeways. (My niece has his air-conditioned car in Palm Springs.)
night, all!
Watched a Hallmark movie this evening after having dinner & attending Mass
Happy that Sharon is at Sissy's home & I pray she sleeps deeply tonight.
Prayers for everyone's needs
Good Night
(((hugs)))
Great tour, Paula!!! LIke Wanda, it's been years and years since I've been in the downtown part of Frederick.
Deb, poor Phil...bet he headed straight for a cool shower. Bet HE gets the AC car next trip!!
Go li'l Luney!!!
Heading for the pillows, as Margy would say. Hope everyone has a good sleep. Prayers for all. Don't blow away!!
It has been very windy off and on here today, but I see Spidey's web is still intact. I guess it will take a hurricane strength wind to dislodge it. Some of those webs are extremely strong...I had a broom, trying to sweep away some webs on our porch, and they just didn't want to budge. It took a while, but I got em.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
