I don't know what to expect today...with Halloween being last night, I don't know if there are going to be any parties tonight. Probably so...people like to PARTY. There are always those who decide at the last minute to go to a party and they are the ones who are easiest to please (in a hurry and will take anything that fits) :)
Nice morning here in western PA. Haven't seen any turkeys on the Pix cam today. Maybe they know that today is the first day of gobbler season. Beautiful in ME, but no action. Our nest is empty too. Got my eagle fix at BWO a while ago.
Hi Paula....will you wash my truck for me? Went birding on Thursday and dirt roads tend to leave grime. LOL We saw some deer, a few ducks and maybe 1000 of those RARE Canada geese. No sight of an eagle though.
Good Beautiful sunny morning everyone.. I read the last blog to catch up and glad everyone enjoyed the trick or treaters that came knockin on the doors.. My trip to Florida was wonderful and Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party was terrific.. Im taking Jazzy and Rosa to Hagerstown to BIG Halloween Mummers Parade tonight with sister and kids some of you met at NCTC... Ohhhh DANA i want to tell you how very much i enjoyed your company and your moms for lunch the other day.. She is one person who just warms your heart with her delightful stories and smiles!!! Thanks for sharing those times with me..
Thanks for sending me the pic, Mits. I am running through the cams at DC zoo & now getting a look at Luney!
Hi there Nilla - Should be a great evening for the parade. I think I grew up watching those parades and even marched in one or two for school. Always went to my Aunts on S.Potomac right where the parade would turn the corner. Bundle those little ones up! You too.
I am out of here for awhile. Mits I didn't even buy a pumpkin for last night - had the scarecrows out!
Thanks For saying Hello Jo.. Yup i sure did too never missed aparade but then again lived on Salem Avenue so we could walk.. We would start to tear up old newspapers into confetti in Sept. remember could throw it back then.. Have big bags full and cold Brrrr . this years parade starts at 6 pm because its so big.. Sister is setting up our chairs down by Bester School.. where there are concession stands for hot chocolate!! Step moms making a big pan of Ginger Bread and snacks for after too.. yum yum..
Nilla, have fun at the parade!! I'm sure you and Jo have a lot of fond memories of those old parades! Wind is working against me in the leaf department.....argh!!!
Saturday, November 1 I have noticed that the cub's favorite place to sleep is next to the board that makes up one wall of the nest box. Whenever Lun Lun puts him down and leaves him in the middle of the nest box, he seems to always wiggle and scoot until he is right up against the nest box wall. Sometimes he even ends up lying next to the wall closest to Lun Lun when she is sleeping on the floor outside of the nest box. Is this his goal? We shall never know, but this seems unlikely, because he does it even when Lun Lun is off in another den. Perhaps he just likes to touch a solid surface when he sleeps; or possibly he just scoots around until he bumps into something and has to rest. Unfortunately, it is impossible to understand the thought processes of a giant panda cub, but I do find it interesting that even at 63 days old, the cub seems to be showing a preference for a sleeping space.
The cub's most recent weight is 2,829 grams, which is over 6 pounds!

Wow, clocks to turn back and calendar pages to move forward, that's a big job here, have lots of both..Feature Picture on the WV DNR Calendar, is an OSPREY !
I just heard an Eagle At Maine Cam...or is it Pelican Harbor?
You Folks Enjoy that Extra Hour of Sleep Tonight and if anyone else is working, "Enjoy" that extra hour of work...
NATURE NUT: - One thing about this daylight thing...days are getting shorter by leaps and bounds anyway, so we will all be missing morning and evening views pretty soon...Sigh....
Hi, everyone, I am home after a great day here. It started out cold, 2 jackets and gloves, ended up with a jacket. In between I wish I had brought shorts and a t-shirt along! I had to settle for jeans and a long sleeve shirt with sleeves pushed up.
Our Mass was a full house - had one baptism and then we have a brick floored patio - Our deceased members have their names & dates engraved. NOV 1 is when we have a special (Brief) prayer service for those departed. I intend to have a brick so all of you can come on out to Holy Family and see me - Now since Megan is taking out the trash...I'll do her thingy.... Brick in the Wall..
Today we were driving around Lake Andes and talking about the great blues. We were wondering where they moved their heronry to. We saw a nest and wondered if it were a heron nest, then in flew a bird! Not a heron, a bald eagle!! I put two pictures on my page. We saw 4 other eagles, all too far away for pictures.
Hot bath, pj's and a throw seem to be doing the trick. I battle allergies this time of year and it runs you down. Especially after a day outside like today, climbing through the weeds.
That's my problem, Wanda, I WASN'T trick or drinking, I should have been out having a drink!
Helen, I leave for the Black Hills on Wednesday, so on the 12th I can relax. Mostly the Hills will be relaxing, though. We are staying in a cabin, no tv, no phone. I'll probably go stir crazy.
Checking in to say goodnight. Tomorrow will be a chicken-little day...piece of space junk the size of a refrigerator expected to hit...they don't know where or when yet...so, eyes to the sky!! Maybe we'll see an eagle while looking for junk! Peace.
Good Morning Margy... We have owls hooting outside right now. They should be sleeping. Heard a loud noise towards Shepherdstown Rd. and then the power went off momentarily. Hope it wasn't a wreck.
Hi Dana! I just realized that I could make the Maine Cam full screen, it was nice, saw just what you did....did you hear all those crows - must have been a dozen or so -
I know Margy I thought it was going to be a "nest takeover". Never a one showed just all the calling back and forth. On going thought they would never stop lol
Margy you like looking for new spots to see things. Have you ever been to Cacapons new overlook they built? You can see 3 states...it is beautiful from up there.
DANA I know there is something called the Eiderlon Preserve in Morgan County, lots of trails, and I think that is what you might be referring to...haven't been there but it is a Must Do for "one of these days."
Good Morning again... I was wandering through the wonderous internet. There is a new hearing device called, Lyric, that sounds like a possibility for GeeGee. She doesn't do well with the ones that she has.
Aren't we so fortunate to have friends on here that share their adventures and photos with us? We see things through them that we might never see on our own.
That extra hour killed me. I was up and down all night just thinking about it. If I had the gumption, I was going to get on the blog to see if anyone else couldn't sleep or woke up early.
It looks like a sunny day here today. Just right for going to mass this morning. I am sitting here waiting for my hubby to finish getting it together. :) I still hae to change my pocketbook over, so I had better get the lead out.
You all have a wonderful day and keep talking so I can check in later to see what I've missed. Later Gators!
Hi Again You all know I seldom really leave the first time!
Grannyblt good to "see" you and hope to meet you sometime, love your moniker! Yah, all that turkey time in Pa, and did you see the nice buck chowing down with them too?
and Carolinabeachmom: Been Waiting to be on here same time as you! Yep - ten pounds is a big baby, and Baby Look at You Now ! - I saw where you said your husband worked as a Telecommunicator in Dare County for 20 years...that's a long time, I just passed that milestone this past April...it sure can be some kind of interesting job at times!
Well, six calendars and eight clocks later, and I am caught up, except for my wrist watches... the most fun clock to move forward was the Bird Clock, a cacophony of chirps and warbles ! You can't go too fast or the birds get all mixed up ! And now I realize it is only 8:21 instead of 9:21...Whoo Boy, but my body tells me it is time to find the pillows and blankies...so I leave all the Eagles and Turkeys and Dreams to you guys for a few hours...
Margy for you that is hard to believe such a large baby. To look at you one would think you was a preemie. That just goes to show "not always does good things come in small packages" lol Sleep well.....back to emails

GOOD MORNING STEVE AND THANK YOU...ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND.
Oh, yes it is November, Steve; I forgot. October really flew by!
Last day to have the shop open! It has been fun, but these 10-11 hour days are rough. Thank Goodness I have Capt. Gene to help me.

Excellent update from Lisa of BWO
Nest Update
11/01/08:
We've been seeing a large mix of immature or sub-adult bald eagles on the platform, and we even saw one get chased away by an adult.
If you'd like to learn how to judge the age of these birds, check out this excellent guide to identifying sub-adult bald eagles.
go to the page to check it out;)
Good Morning
I bookmarked Lisa's Guide for trying to identify those sub-adult bald eagles we see on the BWO platform.
Hope you have a good wined-up day at the shop, Wanda.
Sorry I missed you GrannyBLT - glad you stopped by to say hello. Don't think Paula heard you about the dirty truck - at least no offers! lol

Hi, everyone, I am home after a great day here. It started out cold, 2 jackets and gloves, ended up with a jacket. In between I wish I had brought shorts and a t-shirt along! I had to settle for jeans and a long sleeve shirt with sleeves pushed up.
Pictures are loading now from today.
glad you had a good time, Deb...still 66 here, went to 79 today:)
Glad you had a good day, DEB. We will be waiting for your photos.
Don't know what the temp was here, Helen, but it was BEAUTIFUL.

Our Mass was a full house - had one baptism and then we have a brick floored patio - Our deceased members have their names & dates engraved.

good eagle shot, Deb:)
WOW- Pink Floyd, Jo- I'm impressed. you go girl...
raccoon and deer at snowmancam
I don't know why I am cold, turned heat up and made a big mug of hot chocolate, maybe because I am tired.
get under those covers, Deb....might be coming down with something:(
Hot bath, pj's and a throw seem to be doing the trick. I battle allergies this time of year and it runs you down. Especially after a day outside like today, climbing through the weeds.
time for you to relax, you have had a few really busy weeks.
Deb, were you TRICK OR DRINKING LAST NIGHT? That could be your problem;)
My avatar doesn't show up very well. It is really pretty (has an eagle flying by). I'll have to find another one. PHOOEY!
Some little creature flitting around on the snowman cam.
hmmm, that is roughing it a bit....
I have seen that critter, thought it was a raccoon at first
Well, even though it is only 9:18, I am tired and heading to bed!
Didn't finish before I posted, Night everyone! TTUT
I guess if I want to get an extra hour's sleep I better get to bed now.

I just pictured the size of Luney in my mind, and 6 pounds is the size of my Karla when she was born. A nice little armful!
I haven't seen OUR EAGLES yet this morning but might have missed them before I got home..
Hunter's Paradise in Pennsylvania, Buck and Toms at the site...now just the Toms...
BWO active still ..

I think I am all cammed out for now, time to rest the eyeballs...

GOOD HOPE YOU TURNED THE CLOCKS BACK MORNING TO ALL!
Didn't get on at all yeasterday as I was finally taking a Saturday to clean my whole house, but did get into the emails.
See our nest is MT, but BWO has two eagles and turkeys, turkeys, turkeys all over Pa cam
That extra hour killed me. I was up and down all night just thinking about it. If I had the gumption, I was going to get on the blog to see if anyone else couldn't sleep or woke up early.
WANDA I like your granddaughters gas price better than ours. I think ours is stuck at $2.39. :(
Margy, it's no wonder your Mom never had any more babies! LOL
Hey MARGIE, I have you beat. I think my mom said I was 10 pounds something and breach.
If those gas prices stay where they are, or go even lower, we may go out West again. Oh, I would LOVE that.
It looks like a sunny day here today. Just right for going to mass this morning. I am sitting here waiting for my hubby to finish getting it together. :) I still hae to change my pocketbook over, so I had better get the lead out.
