Looks like I'm the New Tread Queen today! Hi All!

I can't figure out why I cant get on to the still cam...

I may have to disappear because I just heard thunder ( I think). Anyway, I'm behind you all in any quiet and forceful action you will take in order to get the live cam up. It does seem interesting that an eagle cam could cause any kind of security problem...I mean like what could terrorists see in an eagles nest, besides eagles and chicks! I'm baffled!

Geula said...

I just saw an egg turning in our nest...

Buta Buta has become quite a climber but I'd be much happier if she'd figure out a way to get DOWN!
It's true that she does have a concerned Mama that will grab a leg and pull her down from the "vast heights"...okay, 18 inches IS a lot of bedding, but still!

wvgal_dana said...

Well I typed this once already and it didn't publish.

Geula contrs on being first one here sure is good hearing from you. Hope to see you in here when storm is over.

Suzanne I am waiting for you to come over. Tapping foot (just kidding)

Suzanne said...

Ok, Ok, Dana, stop the foot tapping, I made it. Hi Geula, was just thinking/talking about you this morning! Previous blog.

Thanks for the heads up, Dana, I was just a'posting away to myself. Brought this over from the other blog.

Suzanne said...
Lord BW is still sleeping, but a chick is out next to him, not quite under his chest. Too cute. Got a couple shots of our 3 eggs. Oh, 2nd chick is almost out from under now too.

Man, he's got his head under both wings! Chicks are still sort of under him and out at the same time.

Suzanne said...
Ok, he heard me thinking that and now he's awake. Chicks are right in front of him, not under him.

Suzanne said...
Oh my, haven't been reading, only posting. Thanks Dana, I'll bring this stuff over to the new thread.
Wednesday, March 14, 2007 3:57:00 AM

Ok, caught up. Dad just went for breakfast, and chicks are awake and snoozing while waiting.

Suzanne said...

Oh, forgive my manners! Thanks for the new thread, Steven!

wvgal_dana said...

I just came back from going over and looking for you Suzanne hugs.
Glad you got here.

wvgal_dana said...

Can see chicks head in Norfolk Va. Trying to see if there is still an egg. Stretching my neck looking.

Suzanne said...

Awwww, look at the chicks now.

Geula said...

Boy don't the BW chicklets grow FAST! WOW!

wvgal_dana said...

Fish in nest at Norfolk parent left. Can see two chicks heads. Can't see the egg even if I full screen it. Hole is too small. Parent back. Parent feeding still only see two chicks.

Suzanne said...

Getting daylight out, our blinds are almost open! Chicks still waiting patiently for breakfast, dad still at the store. Wonder if we'll see our female osprey again today? Dad just came back with breakfast.

Suzanne said...

Look how excited those chicks are@!!!

wvgal_dana said...

Maine turned her egg or egg this morning.

Yes Suzanne BW chicks are growing. I love to watch their eyes follow the parents.

Suzanne said...

They sure are growing fast, Geula! You can really see it when you look at the cam photos Lisa posted! You can almost watch them grow!

OSPREY IN OSPREY NEST!

Suzanne said...

Not the same one from yesterday. This one has way different markings, and 2 legs.

wvgal_dana said...

This Osprey is a male not the one that was there yesterday.

Suzanne said...

Osprey gone. Look at that chick stretching for a bite!

Suzanne said...

Our nest, incoming and outgoing and 3 eggs. Got a pic, I'll send it around. Eggs covered again. Breakfast still being served to BW chicks. Harrisburg cam still on nesting box, which has been cleaned and changed, by the way!

Mits said...

GOOD EARLY MORNING THREAD Do you think Steven knows something, we don't know giving us such an early thread:):):)? Sandra, Tai is just doing wonderfully, and Geula, Buta has learned a way to get down, she just drops to the floor:). They are sturdy bears, so not to worry. Zoo day for me this afternoon and meeting tonight, so this is the day I get quiet time with the pandas, when they close the buildings at 4:30. Just me, the cam operator and the most wonderful pandas in the world, IMHO:).

wvgal_dana said...

Suzanne did they have a shift change at our nest???

Mits said...

Tai is on his way out the shoot even as we speak.

wvgal_dana said...

( : Oh my Mits that sounds wonderful. Good Morning have a special time with the pandas.

Suzanne said...

Good morning, Mits! Enjoy your day at the zoo, I know you will! Specially the quiet time, how cool!!!

Yup, Dana, shift change. I sent a pic around. Jo, if you have time, can you post it on Momsters?

Dana I love to watch the little chicks follow parent around with their eyes too. They don't let him out of their sight! Specially when food is involved!

Suzanne said...

Wow, not much left of that fish!

wvgal_dana said...

Norfolk Va dad just brought in nice fish and left.

wvgal_dana said...

Suzanne is it Liberty sitting on the nest now??

Suzanne said...

Yes, Dana, think that's Lib.

Osprey in osprey nest. Both parents were in eagle nest. Falcon in nesting box.

Suzanne said...

Beautiful osprey!

Snack time for the chicks.

Suzanne said...

Is that another female in the osprey nest? Anybody know? Looks like a necklace, but not sure.

Mits said...

I just love the osprey, beautiful birds, like the eagles and falcons.

Mits said...

Man, you can't get any closer than that James River Bridge falcon-cam. SUZANNE, she has 4 eggs now:).

Mits said...

Can't tell, but this one has 2 legs.

wvgal_dana said...

I believe it is a male osprey

wvgal_dana said...

I've ask the professional for sure whether female or male. Sure is pretty.

That was so funny though. It wasn't turning to face camera. Just as I was typing "hey you there in osprey box" I was going to tell it to turn an face camera. All I got out was what is in quotes and it turned and faced camera like it heard me. LOL

Suzanne said...

This may be the same male that was in the nest earlier.

Mits, 4 eggs!!!! How cool is that!!! I have every intention now, today, of getting my PC up at home, too much to miss now. (We'll see how I feel Sat.) I will check out the James River Bridge falcon cam.

This is one beautiful osprey! I think they're pretty too, and the falcons! And love the eagles!

Wonder if we'll get a chick today?

Suzanne said...

Both BW parents in nest.

wvgal_dana said...

This one loves possing for pictures lol

Suzanne I not placing any bets on you getting your computer at home up. I hope you do though.

Ok where are these 4 eggs at???

Suzanne said...

Dang, eagle cam locked up. For a few minutes, anyway, I'm sure it will be back shortly.

Mits said...

DON'T FORGET LISA IS OFF TIL SATURDAY:)

Suzanne said...

See? Knew it would only be a minute.

Mits said...

DANA, go to the VA cam and look to the right....where it says falcon and eagle cams.

Sunny said...

Good Morning, Eagle Land. Today is THE day at our nest. I just know it! Will be anxiously awaiting our first eaglet!

Suzanne said...

Saw her update, Mits. I'm trying not to take so many pics so she won't be overwhelmed when she returns. (So far, it's not working!)

2 ospreys in nest!!

Suzanne said...

Morning, Sunny! I hope you're right. Raptor activity all around now!

Suzanne said...

Both parents back in BW

Suzanne said...

Family portrait, BW.

wvgal_dana said...

Wondering if this Osprey has decided to make this his nest at BW.

Males are suppose to get here first then the females follow.

Mits said...

Oh dear, dad falcon just brought in breakfast for mom, at PA.

Mits said...

Looks like a female at BW, got the necklace.

wvgal_dana said...

Where are all our people that visited BW at Cambridge this season and last. For an opinion; let's see: Suzanne, Megan, and Paula.

Is that a male or female at the Osprey nest BW.????

wvgal_dana said...

Man I missed sending Lisa (I know she is on vacation I've tried not to send; I'm in same fix as Suzanne) a great picture. Osprey was in air holding onto dirt and grass in falcons. Couldn't get it to snap pic. Somehow a stupid ad was underneath my pics. Suzanne did you get the shot to send to Lisa??? I don't need it but hope someone got it to send to her.

Maine is sure turning those eggs.

Mits said...

DANA, why don't you just check Lisa's pic from yesterday?

wvgal_dana said...

Egg is still there it was just showing in Norfolk.

wvgal_dana said...

I have I need to see a pic of a male from the front. The neck area doesn't look quite as dark as the one in Lisa's pic of the necklace.

So at first yes I said female then I went with male. The back and forth.

Mits said...

I sent it, DANA.

paula eaglet momster said...

That looks like a female Osprey

Suzanne said...

Both BW cams are locked up. Anybody else having problems?

Mits said...

My osprey is ok, but eagle is frozen in time.

Suzanne said...

Thanks, Mits. My Osprey cam unfroze, but eagle cam still frozen.

Getting dawn in Kent.

Sunny said...

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7805391

Here's an interesting article about how Bald Eagles are losing their habitats.

Suzanne said...

Dana, comparing the pic of the female that was in the osprey nest yesterday, to the the one that's in the nest, I'd say she was female.

movin said...

Blog killed my comment!!
Hi everyone...especially Geula...nice to hear from you.

Eagle cam at BW is frozen at 9:21.
Female Osprey..well preened now.
Wonder what determines which Ospreys nest here and when.

Jim

Mits said...

Man, how are we going to get BW unstuck without Lisa????

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jim. Eagle cam is frozen and Lisa is gone till Sat! ARRRRGGGGHHHH. Osprey cam was frozen for a bit, but it's ok now, I think.

Interesting article, Sunny. They make a come back, and end up with no place to build nests. FRUSTRATING, to say the least!

Suzanne said...

LOL, Mits, you and I are thinking the same thing!

Suzanne said...

Eagle in nest in Kent, cam 2 and 3. You can only see the white head and tail feathers, still dark.

Suzanne said...

PA falcon checking out the nesting box.

paula eaglet momster said...

We could call them, Mits

Suzanne said...

Egg turning time, our nest.

Suzanne said...

Star is in the nest in Kent.

Mits said...

It looks like Miss Star maybe spent the night, watched til dark last night and she flew off right before dark settled in.

Suzanne said...

No, I'm wrong. That's Spirit, with the black above his eye.

paula eaglet momster said...

Feeding at VA

Suzanne said...

Ok, Mits, is that Star or Spirit? The eagle was in the nest as it got daylight, so don't know when she (or he) arrived.

paula eaglet momster said...

Still 2 little heads at VA, both getting food

Suzanne said...

OH, PA falcon is IN the nestbox!

Mits said...

Well with the black spot, looks like Spirit...but it is soooo big........PAULA, sure BW is getting dozens of calls, and they are probably stressed that Lisa isn't there to handle them.

Mits said...

Now I don't see the spot.

paula eaglet momster said...

Ton of fish at VA...and yes, I can see the flies on them....didn't realize flies were out this early

Mits said...

PAULA, how's your son feeling today??

paula eaglet momster said...

Says he feels like he did 1000 crunches! Doing pretty good, tho.

MEMA Jo said...

Good Mid Morning All
Lots of activity being reported here this am hour. Osprey-Lisa had a comparison pic of the male & female on her news updates just the other day. The main distinction is the female has the 'necklace' of dark feathers on her breast.
Geula Hello! Think of you often & so glad you are watching eaglets and the little panda princess!
Need to check out emails.

Suzanne said...

Osprey in nest, don't know if it's a repeat osprey or a new one.

Suzanne said...

Mits, you kind of want to brush that spot off, but it doesn't look as dark as the pic Lorraine sent. Don't know. Eagle gone now, no egg. Just practice incubation, I guess.

Mits said...

Think your right, SUZANNE, just another practice run:).

paula eaglet momster said...

Egg turning our nest...can't see much

paula eaglet momster said...

Zooming in at VA

paula eaglet momster said...

Would someone please tell that eagle in VA to move so we can see into the nest :)

paula eaglet momster said...

LOL. those little guys didn't want to go back down under mom

paula eaglet momster said...

Can still see an egg at VA

paula eaglet momster said...

I think they have 3 fishing laying in that VA nest

paula eaglet momster said...

Osprey cam stuck again

Mits said...

How'd you like to have sniff-a-cam at VA?

Mits said...

WHERE IS MEGAN?????

Mits said...

EAGLE CAM UNSTUCK AT BW

Suzanne said...

Eagle cam is back, chicks are snoozing.

MEMA Jo said...

Megan is very busy in the greenhouse. Had an email response yesterday. She is alive and well.

MEMA Jo said...

Where is Norma this morning - study group?

Suzanne said...

Oops, did it again, Mits. Shoulda know you would already have said that. One of these days I AM going to read/refresh and THEN post. I swear!

MEMA Jo said...

Beautiful shot now of the femal osprey who apparently is claiming her nest.

Suzanne said...

Mits, falcon is staring right at the cam from the nest box in PA.

Mits said...

Thanks, Jo.

Mits said...

Bet you falcon in PA, lays an egg soon, she is up and down and sounds like she is in distress right now.

MEMA Jo said...

Check out Osprey Cam

Mits said...

WOW, looks like the happy couple buying a used osprey nest.

Mits said...

Checking out the foundation at the osprey cam.

Suzanne said...

My goodness, are we renovating the osprey nest?

Suzanne said...

Back with a pine branch.

Suzanne said...

Eagle chicks are right at the edge of their egg cup. Think they want to explore? After they wake up from their nap, that is. Oh they are awake, inching out.

wvgal_dana said...

This Osprey has brought grass and pine into the nest.

Suzanne said...

Look at those chicks pulling themselves out of the egg cup with their beak. Guess the legs aren't strong enough yet. But they're getting closer to the tree, how cute is that!

Yeah, Dana, guess we have one of our osprey pair now.

Suzanne said...

Dang, saw our 3 eggs this morning, then Liberty came in, haven't seen any switches, but haven't been watching so closely. Haven't seen the eggs again all day.

That one little chick is moving every refresh, the other one on the right wants to sleep. Beautiful osprey checking things out and doing nestorations.

Time for me to hit the road. Take lots of pics and write lots of blogs.

All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

wvgal_dana said...

See you tomorrow Suzanne

MEMA Jo said...

Have a beautiful ride home, Suzanne
Put your windows down!

MEMA Jo said...

Our one legged osprey is at the nest now! Suzanne pointed out that this one has yellow eyes whereas the others all have brilliant blue eyes.

wvgal_dana said...

Tiny the youngest in the BW nest is really learning to move around. So cute. Chubs is out of it sleeping.

Mits said...

DANA, both male and female were there this a.m. I don't think nature is written in stone.

wvgal_dana said...

Do we have a pic of the male??? If someone does please send it to me. Thank you.

wvgal_dana said...

Can one of you hold up the tail of the eagle at VA so I can look into the hole to see if egg is still intact???????? LOL

wvgal_dana said...

Mits thats a good one lol. Tell that to these biologist that write up these papers. That say they study these Osprey's habits. I do agree about Mother Nature.

MEMA Jo said...

Dana, I can't readily find a pic of the male.
Adult male:
* Underparts entirely white
Adult female:
* Dark necklace of streaks on throat
That will help us ID who is who - as long as we can see their stomachs! lol

MEMA Jo said...

I have an afternoon appointment - need to leave for a few hours.
BBL Keep your eyes on OUR nest

wvgal_dana said...

paula eaglet momster said...

I just looked at the pics I took on the last egg turning. There is a black spot on the end of one of the eggs. I don't know what it is. I put the pic on Momsters.

paula eaglet momster said...

Norfolk is experiencing technical difficulties

eagle-eyed sharon said...

It looks like the PA falcon is preparing the nest bed some more. What beautiful birds!

paula eaglet momster said...

paula eaglet momster said...

NOrfolk is back. Hey Sharon how ya doing?

paula eaglet momster said...

Egg turning our nest...both seem to be doing a lot of tucking in today.

paula eaglet momster said...

Lib just got up and rearranged again...wings slightly spread

Jennifer said...

Awww.. no fuzzy heads yet??

I guess we have to watch and wait and in the meantime watch the VA eaglets.

paula eaglet momster said...

Lib was just peeking under his chest

paula eaglet momster said...

Osprey are making quick in and outs. Caught a pic of one coming down, but he was gone next refresh.

paula eaglet momster said...

Bw eagle cam is getting stuck about every 10 minutes or so.

paula eaglet momster said...

Hey Jennifer, I think if willing them to hatch would work, they would all 3 be by now!

paula eaglet momster said...

BW Eaglet looks like he is sitting up! You can see his feet!

paula eaglet momster said...

I also just noticed at BW that you can start to see the poop on the outer branches.

paula eaglet momster said...

Egg roll our nest, a quick one.

paula eaglet momster said...

Osprey still in the nest at BW, think she is guarding while he goes and gets sticks.

Jennifer said...

LOL Paula, no doubt. I wish we had exact dates as to when the first two were laid, it would give us a better idea as to when to expect the eaglets.

paula eaglet momster said...

Egg check or roll our nest, only caught the tail end of it

paula eaglet momster said...

It should be this week, Jennifer. The third egg will be 35 days old on Monday.

paula eaglet momster said...

Also, she had 2 eggs on the 9th of February when the cam came back up

paula eaglet momster said...

Definitely a crack in the VA 3rd egg.

paula eaglet momster said...

Our cam is stuck on 5:05

paula eaglet momster said...

Both BW cams stuck, too.

paula eaglet momster said...

Whew! Our cam is unstuck!

paula eaglet momster said...

More feeding at VA, which for me is freezing up regularly

paula eaglet momster said...

Geesh Dana, you thought you scared people away :)

paula eaglet momster said...

Man I missed it. Had to reboot computer and eagle in VA brought in a bird!

paula eaglet momster said...

Might be a pigeon, grayish in color, laying right in front of the cam

paula eaglet momster said...

Mama brought in the bird, just grabbed it by the neck, gave it a little twist, guess she was making sure it was dead.
