Good morning Suzanne...haven't read your comments yet so not sure what kin dof weather you dealt with coming in to work today. Hoping for that fun little healthy surprise to pop into sigh tto day at least maybe briefly. I don't even want to open the nest cam and see her sitting there drenched in another storm :( Maybe I'll just read and wait for someone to tell me to go have a peak or come see a picture of our first chick. It just got to be anytime now. hve a great day all. Atleast I did manange to get the best nights sleep I have gotten in over a week last night. Much better eway to start the day.

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning Mauley, Glo and Sunny.

Pretty wet out there.

wvgal_dana said...

Belle is dring her wings out. Neat pic.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Did anybody just see what looked like an eaglet in our nest? I thought I did but could have been mistaken. I saved a picture but can't really tell.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I sent the pic to some of you. Let me know what you think.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I hear my towhee outside this morning but he hasn't made it to the food yet.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sunny, if I had your email address I would send you the pic too!

MITS said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONESharon, I thought I saw some grey fluff late yesterday, but , could have been a chick or brood feathers,. Suzanne our cam did that the entire day yesterday. I was intent on watching it every chance I got and got tired of hitting the refresh button. So, I can say our 30 second cam is not working properly. Going to do e-mails and check cams. Have a good day everyone.

Mema Jo said...

Look at the pic - all I can say without seeing it better is that
I DON'T SEE THAT 3RD EGG, Sharon!

Maybe................. Maybe

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

HELLO, IS ANYBODY OUT THERE!!! Check your emails and let me know if we have a hatchling!!!!

wvgal_dana said...

Just been reviewing a picture I took of our nest when eggs showed. It has taken me like almost forever cause my machine is slow it is doing the McAfee thing behind the scenes.

Then I come in an see Sharon has made a comment.

Sharon like I said I was reviewing that picture I took and I still think I see a hatchling. I am writing Steve to ask him if it was hatched yesterday or today. If it is truly one.

MITS said...

I hope that still isn't Belle in the nest, she has been there since around 3 yesterday, right before the rain hit, I was tracking the weather coming towards the nest.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I THINK WE HAVE A BABY!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I think it is Liberty on the nest but not sure. He/she got up, looked down and laid back down.

normabyrd said...

GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----All schools in area closed---including JEFFERSON (Shepherdstown)---So it is going to be a cold wet day for our LIB & BELLE---Maybe we will see a "wee" head pop out today---

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sunny, you've got mail.

Mema Jo said...

I posted Sharon's pic on the Mumster album so you all can see those 2 eggs and decide what else you may see.

Hi, Eagle Lovers,

Well, I can't see much except wet eagles and nest, but please send me a pic if there is a new chick in WV nest.

Jim

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I remember now, Sunny. A little brain dead these days. I don't want to watch stork nests anymore. That one broke me of that habit!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jim, you've got mail!

kirine said...

Our poor moms. VA Lady is soaked and still sitting, but it looks like she at least has breakfast waiting on her. Belle is the one I feel the worst for. No breakfast and no sign of Lib yet.

It DOES look like we have a fuzzball in that one pic.. though Belle hasn't gotten up so we can verify it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Liberty flew in earlier and then right back out. I kind of looked like he had food (located at about 5 o'clock) but not sure if that is what it is.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

normabyrd said...

normabyrd said...

SUZANNE---That happened to me yesterday---I could have sworn the OSPREY'S cam was stuck---Finally she/he blinked----COOL BIRDS!

movin said...

Thanks, Sharon, Suzanne, for the pics...boy it's fairly murky in the rain and the half dark.

I sure hope it's a chick, but I can't be 100% sure there aren't 3 eggs still (can only see 2 for sure).

Happy St. Patty's Day weekend to all.

Jim

normabyrd said...

AREN'T WE CLOSE TO "NEW THREAD" TIME????????

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Is it snowing in Shepherdstown?

MITS said...

I think it is sleet.

Mema Jo said...

There has been sleet off and on here in the valley. It does forecast some snow later in the day.
Sure does look like snowish sleet on our Momma Belle!

MITS said...

Its a mix of rain, snow, sleet and freezing rain according to weatherunderground.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That is what I was afraid of.

Mema Jo said...

Don't know how long Steve was going to be up in NYC......as far as the new thread - It's not there right now. He might get really snowed in up there!

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Mits,Sunny,Jim, and Norma.

Wow this behind the scenes scan is sure making my going back and forth in here slow.

I did way earlier get the two pics I had taken at 8:45AM this morning off to Steve and a note. Asking also for a New Thread with a pic and the update of when chick was born. So we'll see what their live feed at NCTC reveals.

wvgal_dana said...

Yep Mits that is what we was getting stopped just a bit ago. So Belle should have some relief soon from the sleet. Unless it starts again.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Did anybody catch the little glimpse just now. Still think I see a gray furball!

paula eagleholic said...

Nasty, Nasty sleet and snow coming down the road this morning....saw 5 cars run off the road. Those eagles better hold on while they're landing!

MITS said...

From the looks of the radar, this is probably an all day event, and into tomorrow. But c'mon, she's tough, she will be OK!

normabyrd said...

REALLY SNOWING here ----talked w/daughter in Shepherdstown--some sleet like stuff & now starting fine snow, etc.----Schools closed there---

paula eagleholic said...

If there is a chick today, it will be getting frozen fish sticks for dinner!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

From the way she gets up and looks under her, I feel pretty sure that is a baby we saw!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I have to go downstairs for a minute. Somebody keep an eagle-eye on that nest for a few minutes!! :):):)

paula eagleholic said...

No Suz, but roads were bad, but I don't think they had salted yet. People were just running off the road, into ditches and stuff. You may not want to go up 550.

MITS said...

mmmm, I like fish sticks, with some tarter sauce and ketchup on the side:)

Mema Jo said...

Down comes the BIG SNOW FLAKES!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

VA Mama looks pretty soaked too.

paula eagleholic said...

"Eagle in the Snow" is this years theme.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We are just getting rain in Bluefield. They said we might get some snow tonight. Weather has been so beautiful this week, now it is turning back to winter.

paula eagleholic said...

Eaglets in VA getting brunch.

paula eagleholic said...

Be Safe, Suz. Just take it easy.

normabyrd said...

SUZ---TAKE IT SLOW---WILL KEEP YOU IN MY THOUGHTS---

wvgal_dana said...

Suzanne be careful snowing now sleet under that. tc

paula eagleholic said...

Well, folks, I'll tell you something.

My respect for these birds and what they go through to ensure the survival of their young has increased a thousand fold this season, from watching all that Belle and Lib have gone through.

wvgal_dana said...

Sharon, Mits, Jim, Jo have mail to check for the fish. Paula I would have sent to you but you wasn't here yet. Hi Paula.

Snowing pretty bad for awhile here. It was sleet ontop of Belle. Now it has been snow.

Paula its the one in the album about the fish. Try enlarging it.

normabyrd said...

WOW---BELLE is "Spread Eagle" & covered with SNOW!-----SHARON--I bet that is an EAGLET---Grey Fuzz Ball!---

Mauley said...

My heart took a dive when I pulled up the cam just now. I could simple bawl my eyes out over our parents. Dear devoted raptors, I wish I could take a turn sitting on the eggs. I wish I could do something, but I sure can ask God to help them. Sharon, I haven't seen the pic yet of the possible fuzz ball could someone email it to me? Please thanks mauley

MITS said...

Just think of all the eagles in Alaska, that go thru extreme weather every year, not to mention the ones in Maine, who are expecting bad weather this weekend. These are tuff birds!

paula eagleholic said...

Yes they are Mits. Guess that is why they have 7000 feathers! For conditions like this!

MITS said...

wish this one would get up and shake those feathers, but it is probably great insulation also.

MITS said...

Raining here, but temp is starting to drop a little.

paula eagleholic said...

She moved a little, you can see the sleet/snow cover cracking....

MITS said...

heads out:).

Mema Jo said...

Most pic for 3/16 are in the album on Momsters.... Take a look.
All schools in this area are closing 2 hrs early.

Our Belle and Liberty are one set of strong willed eagles! They will get those little chicks up & running as soon as this weather clears the area!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Got to run an errand. Will be back in a little while.

Mema Jo said...

THINK SPRING!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mauley, I sent you a pic too. What address are you on now?

MITS said...

TA-DA !!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mits, I do the same thing. One of these days, it is going to work!! Have faith!

paula eagleholic said...

Ground is covered w/ snow here in Frederick.

Hard to tell in those pics. What we .....

OK I was writing that when she just got up. I only saw 2 eggs. but couldn't see the chick. Anyone else? Putting pic on Momsters now.

Mauley said...

Sharon, work donnak.cox@kctcs.edu
Please send. thanks

Mema Jo said...

Mits - you're my 'die hard' friend

Mauley said...

My bad, Sharon, it was in the junk mail. Yes, it does look like we may be momsters again. Thanks so much. Who is on nest now. I must have missed the switch. thanks again. Hope you are feeling better, little sister. donna

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay, really out now. BBIALW!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Mauley, Belle is on the nest. She has been there since yesterday afternoon.

Mema Jo said...

Paula - looked at pic. I think we should say There are only 2 eggs visible - The little chick from the 1st egg is hiding really well way
down under.... Little fuzz ball does not like the snow........

If there were 3 eggs still - we would have seen them all.

Sure wish we had a ZOOM on our cam.

Mema Jo said...

Someone be ready to snap it when we really get a good view of the egg well.

I have about 10 emails with Pics from granddaughter showing me her new housing on the base of Ft Drum.

I'll be back.

MITS said...

looks like a turkey right now:).

Mema Jo said...

Just check for new thread -

MITS said...

PEEK-A-BOO, I see you:).

Sandy said...

OK...I'm in....whew!

I have been lurking for a LONG time. Was a real regular last season, but I'm not supposed to do this from work anymore...:-(

I looked at the pictures too, only saw 2 eggs...must be a fuzz ball hiding in there keeping warm!

Poor Belle........

Hi everyone!!

paula eagleholic said...

Hi Sandy. C'mon in, we won't tell :)

Mema Jo said...

Is that the real Sandy Bowers I am seeing? Hi Sandy! Glad you got in!

Sandy said...

I'm in....if I disappear, I got BUSTED!! LOL

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, just looking at the eagle in VA...has sorta that "wet dog w/ puppy eyes" look.

Mema Jo said...

What's that game FIND WALDO

Well now it is FIND BELLE

Sandy said...

Hey there Paula!! Yep Jo. it's ME!!! Didn't figure you gals would remember me it's been so long, but I can't stay away!!

I've been reading since before the eggs and actually coted on the momsters board, but I have no clue what days I picked now

Sandy said...

UGH...make that VOTED..

She's really covered.....must be snowing HARD up there.

kirine said...

Poor Belle. She's looking like a bird popsicle right now. I'm almost certain she feels like one, going from soaked to freezing temps that fast. I hope Lib comes back soon and gives her some relief.

I hope in someways that we don't have a little fuzzball right now. If we do the poor thing picked a bad time to come out. Belle will have to get off the nest to feed them which means they'll get cold or she stays on, which means they go hungry.

Hopefully the fuzzball can hang on through this junk and Liberty brings back a HUGE fish for Belle and the possible fuzzhead.

MITS said...

Sandy, nice to have you back:):):)

MITS said...

Where's Waldo....Where's Belle.

MITS said...

shake it off Babe:).

MITS said...

Get ready, she's got to be shaking soon.

Sandy said...

I agree Jennifer. She's been there a long time! Judging from last year, if there's a baby there, they'll know what the right thing to do it...feed it, or keep it warm..

Hey ya Mits!!!

MITS said...

C'mon Belle, I need to get dressed...

paula eagleholic said...

Get ready....

paula eagleholic said...

Head moving....at least the chick doesn't have to eat today...

Sandy said...

I'm waiting........

MITS said...

Ready or not?????

Sandy said...

................and waiting.....

MITS said...

My time is refreshing fine, but there are times when my pic is not:(.

Sandy said...

Gotta go do some work. Be back in a bit. Take notes if anything happens....please...

MITS said...

And there are times screen goes BLACK!

Jill said...

If there is a little one in there, I don't think she will move because if she does it gets covered with snow. They do have their little down feathers to keep them warm but I don't know how well they do in the snow.

paula eagleholic said...

Mits, go get dressed so she'll get up :)

MITS said...

OK, PAULA, I'll do that:):):) BBL!

Mema Jo said...

The snow is slacking off here - I hope all this is out of here and doesn't linger throughout the night.

Mits - Oh weather geni - what's the latest on the weather???

Mauley said...

Hi Paula, Sandy, Mits, Jennifer and Jill. Can our hearts handle the cam pics of our Belle and possible new one in the snow.

Mauley said...

time for Belle to make
her chicks debut.......

MITS said...

Snow and freezing fog for the nest, looks like an all day event, took shower, got dressed, still in nest under snow, going to dry hair, makeup etc....BBIALW.

Mema Jo said...

Norma He may still be in NY
However, if he can give us new
threads from Wyoming - why not NY?

Come on Steve - we don't want to hit
500. I bet he hears us!! lol

Thanks ahead of time - Steve.

Mema Jo said...

Liberty best come to nest and dig Belle out of there..........

MITS said...

Has she moved at all in the last 40 mins.?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am back. Poor Belle is really covered. I have to remind myself though that eagles do not have human thoughts. She is probably not sitting there thinking how rough her life is. IT IS WHAT IT IS! She is just doing what she was put here to do. I want to be like Belle when I grow up!

MITS said...

Me too:):)

paula eagleholic said...

Just her head, Mits.

MITS said...

ok, just saw her head move.

paula eagleholic said...

Actually, she has moved slightly at times....you can see cracks in the snow on her..then the snow fills them back in quickly

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I wish it would snow like that here today. I love snow and wouldn't mind having one more before spring hits.

Sandy said...

Gee, that snow is getting deep on her. Oh Liberty, where are you????

She's not human, but I am, and it pains me to see her that way even if she's matter of fact about it.. I'm such a sap!

But, I'd bet there's a baby under there she's keeping warm. When there were just eggs she'd hope off the real quick and shake off....
hummmmmmmmmmmmm......I wonder...

Sandy said...

Ahhhhhhh, big head movement there......

Jill said...

I think you are right, there is a baby under there. She hasn't moved in quite a while other than her head. Poor thing but remember the hikers in Washington surviving in the snow hut? That is what she is doing. Letting the snow fill in around her, keeping whatever is underneath warm. By the time it all melts we could have 3 little ones.

Sandy said...

wish we had sound

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sandy, I am with you on that. It breaks my heart watching them. I know they feel our spirits with them though.

Geula said...

hi! this definietly reminds me of how the donkeys seem to foal on the coldest wettest day of the year! and they mated in April, when it was warmer. just so happens that March is the month of "sudden winter storms"

AWwwwwwwwww funny JO....I WISH i was in sunny FL, but I'm in cold rainy northwest NC.... still not very close to our nest though :-(

I wish she would move too. I have to leave in about 45 minutes to go home, then out of town for the weekend. I'll go nutz if I leave her all covered up!!

MOVE Darn it!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mema Jo, I was just wondering if an eagle has ever drowned in snow!

Sandy said...

Sharon! Better get going with that shovel girl!!

Seriously, WHERE is Liberty??? What happens if the snow gets so deep she HAS to move?? OK, I know, Iknow I'm worrying..can't help it....

I know Steve probably isn't there and I know we never are allowed to step in on Nature - but I am going to email Steve Wunderley to just get an idea of what to expect from Belle...........

Sandy said...

EXCELLENT idea.....

Mema Jo said...

I would say it keeps her warmer but the question is: Does it keep her DOWN?
I wish Liberty would come down from the tree tops and start scratching away at the snow just like a little Burrowing Owl would scratch.

Sandy said...

Maybe Liberty knows something we don't......

Mema Jo said...

Email sent.

Mema Jo said...

Well, Sandy I just knew it was somewhere south of MD.... and usually
warmer.... OK Sandy from NC

MITS said...

Sharon, you might want to take an ice pick along with you, think alot of that is sleet and freezing rain. Wish I lived closer, I'd take a ride up there to find out where Lib is???

I think I heard someone call my name. Hello, everyone. It's still snowing in Shepherdstown, but it's very wet and I think it will melt quickly. It does not appear to be icy, although we had some sleet earlier. I don't think Belle is covered with ice, but with nice warm fluffy downy snow. I got out my magnifying glass and I agree that there was a grey fluff ball in the nest. Thanks so much for the wonderful photo albums . They bring me a great deal of pleasure.

Tom is still on antibiotics, I'm giving IVs at home.Luckily home care equipment is pretty good, even the multi-thumbed and inexperienced, so so far I haven't killed him. I'm afraid, however, that this process is not going to work and that they will have to operate again, remove the artificial knee, continue antibiotics for six weeks, then replace the knee. This means two surgeries. Decision probably will be made next week.

Snow is already sliding off the roof across the street, so I think Belle will be free soon. Hope Suzanne isn't having a bad time on the roads.

Jill said...

Just saw the weather report. 3-5 more inches of snow for the area. Although my street seems to be turning to slush right now. Tomorrow will be 36 so hopefully that will melt the snow. Then rain comes in with highs in the 40s on Sunday. Poor Belle. But she is well equipped to live in the elements, unlike us. Just remember how warm your down comforter is. She is wearing hers.

Mema Jo said...

Sandra, thanks for the Shepherdstown weather report. The snow that was on my car is also sliding off & melting.

karynpa, Belle has been through this before but she has always taken time to shake off! I think with a new chick under her that she has decided that isn't a wise thing to do right now.
Glad you got some reassurance from another Eagle watcher.. Not sure how much snow is to come down in the nest area.
