That is a cool website, tracking the golden eagles. www.hummingbirds.net/map.html is a site where people report migrating hummingibrd sightings in the spring. Check it out, they are already in the states. I'm outa here, long day, sure to be another one tomorrow. Paula, all the plans we spoke of for the market are now on hold, not sure when or if you will be able to attend. The town has seized control of the mkt and we are no longer in charge. I will let you know what is going on as soon as I figure it out myself. Could be a while. MMTBR
Sound pretty. I certainly hope that the mood of the market doesn't get changed too much. It seemed to be good as was - you know - why change something if it isn't broken!!! Politics I'm sure!!
Not too much happening here now... But BW has some new Weblog stuff and new pics on the Osprey site. [I still can't figure out whose who on that nest. If there is a definite pair in possession of the nest for the season, I haven't seen it...there has been the same female on the platform most of the last couple of days, but that's all I've seen.]
I hope the cam gets thawed and zapped and starts working soon...
I haven't a clue, Jo:), Isn't it nice to think of seeds and flowers and hummingbirds... Yes, Jo, Kevin gets a big kick out of it. Everything she accomplishes is a milestone and she is a hard little worker.
Oh, the mood is changing all right...politics..that's one explanation. Giving me a constant headache. Just wanna grow and sell my flowers... PEACE- nite all.
Paula - Lisa thinks the hawk at Blackwater might be either a Coopers hawk or a Sharpped Shinned. From the links she sent me it looks like a Coopers although they are not common in the area. I think the hawk at Pickering is a Red Tail.
Thanks for the festival pictures. They are great. I wish I could have been there that day but I had other obligations.
Good Morning Suzanne..Glad your trip home was a safe one althoughrather long and stressful. Like you and everyone else on here, hoping for a much better day than Friday for us all.
Any info anyone form NCtC could give us about this Nest and Liberty Belle and family would be so greatly appreicated. I don't care if you aren't one of the tech crew responsible for this cam; If your job there involves walking through the lobby and by the live cam....could you just take a short look, gather up some info about what you see and either enter it here or call Steve and ask him to give us some info about what has happened this weekend at our nest. This is so very difficult each and every minute as we wait for some actually accurate piece of info about the outcome of that storm and the days that followed and that Eagle family on that property.

Good Morning Eagle watchers. I feel your frustration with the NCTC Eaglecam this year. We also are unable to see the cam on campus. It seems the battery keeps losing it's charge. To give you a heads up, Mike & I (John) have worked on this project from the beginning. Last month during 20 degree weather, and high winds we replaced a failed microwave transmitter 100 yards from the tree onto the side of the barn. So cold we couldn't feel our finger tips. Steve purchased a new battery, which was replaced early in the season. He also purchased a new solar controller, which we replaced. We also verified the voltage on all 3 solar panels. The solar controller will cut off the load (camera & microwave feed) when the voltage drops below 11.4V, then will reconnect the load when the battery is charged up to 12.6V We don't want to replace batteries at this point, due to scaring the eagles off the nest. The live feed problem is not here at the NCTC, but network security implemented at the department level. Mike has been working closely with the department to get this corrected. Anyway, I feel and see your frustration, especially when reading the comments in this BLOG. I assure all of you, we've all worked hard to try and provide this service to you.
Thank you, John for the update on the cam. I guess we are waiting for the battery to charge up? Or do you think it's dead? How many more sunny days do we need?
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Just finished reading blog, and I'm going over to do e-mails. Just read your comments, JOHN NCTC. Maybe sometime before our next season you can contact people up in MAINE, and see how theirs keeps running in NOR'EASTERS and BLIZZARDS. Just a thought.

John, We do appreciate your guys work on the cam. Where would be without your technical know how? It's easy to sit here and moan and complain, and I know that I do it too. It is more out of frustration than anything, because it is all out of my hands! If anyone out here could help, there would never be a problem with the cam!
And I think that is part of the frustration. People out here do feel they have helped by purchasing something from my site or Glo's, in hopes that it would improve our cam. I guess that will come with more time and experience. OK, so I need to sell more stuff so we can have 3 backup batteries!
And more than anything, it is because we all have come to love Liberty and Belle with all our hearts. And we couldn't have done that without the wonderful people at NCTC.
Good Mid Morning I am so anxious to have the cam up so that we can see if we have 2 chicks or maybe even 3 by today. Thank you so much, John for taking your time to communicate with all of us. I realize this has been a project from day one with you and Mike and Steve and it's good to know of your concern for all of us regular eagle cam watchers. Please keep us posted as to your progress - it helps relieve some of the frustrations and anxieties we are going through. We need to see those chicks!
I did receive an early morning email today from Steve Wunderley,Eagle Expert. I had sent him the pic of Belle with just her head peeking out of the snow at the time we were so worried about her being able to rise up out from under the snow........ Jo, That was a great picture of her in the snow. Snow actually is a pretty good insulator so I guess she just let it accumulate while it was still coming down. Hope we get the camera back on line today, we should have a couple of young uns in there by now.
John You have no idea how much hope just hearing some information from you , brings to all of us..... feeling a little more supported and encouraged...Thanks so much for taking the time to give us that info.
OK having said that can someone take a look at the tree...tell us if the snow has melted down to some degree. Is there a sign that they may in fact be carrying fish there now to feed there young etc.
