MITS said...

Suz, look at the top of the page, they are having technical problems, they were having them last night too. I always sneak a peek, just in case one shows up at night.GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

MITS said...

BOOYAH...STEVEN , THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD You are one of the good guys.

MITS said...

Panda Habitat and Asia trail have theie opening today at the National zoo. Can't wait to go see it when I get back home..someday!

MITS said...

Its still 5:30 a.m. at the KENT cam, they were having problems with that one yesterday, it got stuck, but on an MT nest, no telling how much eagle action we missed.

MITS said...

SPOOKY CAM AT BW!!!

MITS said...

LOL!!!!!GOOD ONE, SUZ!!!

MITS said...

Seagull at CT with dead fish.

MITS said...

That goofy seagull just came right up to the cam.:):):)

MITS said...

The osprey site is where the seagull is...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

There is an elfinant on the Africam!!

MITS said...

Can't get onto Africam this a.m.

MITS said...

I can get on pete's pond..there are a bunch of skittish deer there.

paula eagleholic said...

Sharon,
What is an elfinant? An elf elephant?

MITS said...

I've got the Africam up, a gazelle and a bird is in the water now.

MITS said...

If there is a "gator" in that water like Nilla says, why isn't that bird dead.

MITS said...

There is a beautiful shot of Mei Xiang resting on a rock on panda cam #1

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

BAMBOONS EVERYWHERE!

glo said...

Good Morning all. I slept til 7:30 drug myself out of bed and went to neighbors for coffee and dog treats. While i was their I called the people who service my dryer a couple of months ago to tell them I almost had a fire last night about 10 pm my time. House full of smoke etc.. not fun, pretty scarey actually. Dealt with the smke smell all night, have a headache this morning. So once again I am glad I do NOT and hope none of you EVER leave your home with the Dryer running. Never ever do that...mine had only been running like 10 min. when this all began to happen.

OK so now its breakfast time here

have a good day. I will bLOG some off and on.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning Eagle Buddies
Couldn't sleep in, Suzanne! Headed out later for lunch with granddaughter & children.
Thanks Steve for the thread of the day
Just finished reading the comments - going out to check the cams - My Little Panda Boy and Girl and any eagles I can find.
Suzanne - did someone email you directions yet? All you need to do is head for your hairdresser & head south... BBL

Mema Jo said...

Glo That is too scarey. That smell will linger - hope you can open up the house & get it out of there.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Elfinant is giving himself a shower.

Paula, that is how Andrew used to say elephant!

glo said...

wonderful go to Africam qUICK

paula eagleholic said...

Eagle at BW!

MITS said...

I see the elephant...no bamboons.

Mema Jo said...

Suzanne - it is a simple straight drive only 1 turn from Boonsboro. I'll email so you'll have them tomorrow.

MITS said...

Boy they are loud when they drink.

MITS said...

Glo, I never leave the house with the dryer running, I have read the terrible stories about dryer fires.

MITS said...

Tai is in a climbing mood this a.m. That elephant just burped.

paula eagleholic said...

Suz,
If you can get to Boonsboro, you can def get to NCTC. Just take Rt 34 out of Boonsboro into Shepherdstown, turn right on Shepherd Grade Rd (right after you go over the Potomac River Brigdge and right after the Bavarian Inn, ). Then you go like 5-6 miles to NCTC on the right.

paula eagleholic said...

I see that second eagle at BW.

Glo, glad you were there when that happened. Scary thought if you weren't!

glo said...

I so enjoyed watching that elephant. warningelephant movie coming soon!!!! I am OK, just this headache and now f course concern over the dryer and what will happen with that etc etc. So glad I was home and up...which says Don't go to bed with it running either That is what I was pretty much getting ready to do...I was up quite while after that though and still have some windows cracked trying to air stuff out. it wasn't fun!!

glo said...

wax

glo said...

maybe its wax buildup...now I shall worry about dryer sheets too.

I am going to go buy a clothesline...Nah winters coming

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Glo, maybe you have a build up of lint in it or something. Glad the outcome was as good as it was!!

Mits, the bamboons left when the elephant came to the pond or maybe they just kept the elephant on the cam and felt the bamboons were that important!

MITS said...

Getting lighter at KENT.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It seems like it would be a little irritating to walk around with birds hanging on you all the time!

MITS said...

How rude!!! I want bamboons.

MITS said...

Are they the wilderbees on there now???

MITS said...

Daylight at Kent..MT nest.

MITS said...

BW stuck.

MITS said...

Found some bamboons at pete's pond.

Mauley said...

Morning all my eagle friends. I wish I could go to NCTC, but I am so glad that some of you get the privilege of going. Have a good time for Mauley and take pictures (group of yourselves for those of us who can't make it this time.) Paula thank you for the information, and Diane congrats. I am so glad you get to go. Busy Busy time of semester. Mid term grades and I don't have mine ready, so I can't blog for a day or so. Love all of you. Donna

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I cannot for the life of me figure out how they think we are interested in getting up close and personal with an African bug!

MITS said...

New update on the PANDA page.

The Dept of Int. thinks this is inappropriate ....well, let me tell you what I think about the government....WAR .....High gas prices....Homeless people sleeping on the streets in our own country - people who can't afford to eat because they pay outragous prices for slack medical care and over priced drugs that the government does nothing about - while we are busy involving ourselves and our men and women, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters in others business - who are we to tell them how to run their countries when we can't run our own.

Just had to vent! I am disgusted at how this country is being run and I am ashamed that this blog is considered inappropriate - I am so mad I can't spell! It is more appropriate than ANYTHING the government it involved in!

MITS said...

Poor Buta always seems to be alone when I look in on her.

glo said...

Just in case someone actually decides to read this BLOG at least some to determine whether or not it is appropriate, and as all of you I too am very emotionally involved in the decision regarding This BLOG, lets keep our responses on here Rational and Appropriate and the kind of thing we can be proud of as we await the Final Decision. WE have email and Momster for the other stuff...so have at it there, but do try to think it thru here. We want to be proud of how we handle it, as steve himself can be very proud of how he has conducted the BLOG experience for us the entire way. I never know if I think one person or one BLOG can make a difference but I do know its always worth trying anyway.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Suzanne, I am with you on that!! Not going there either. I am grateful to be living in this country myself. There are worse places we could be living. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Glo, I am with you 200%.

MITS said...

I don't put much stock in cowards, like ANON. I hear Irag, Iran, Germany, France and North Korea would love to have you live there, than compare how bad it is here.AMERICA IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, THAT'S NOT A STATEMENT, THAT'S A FACT!!?GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

MITS said...

Anon sounds very familiar to me!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Doreen, I would say we are all pretty fortunate to live where we live!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

(((((((((((((DOREEN))))))))))))))

glo said...

There is a way to stop Anonymous posts on Blogger. Takes a little more work on the owners part, and will also stop some of our newbies AND "I love you all dearly, but anyone who doesn't have their name in blue STEVE however has the ability to delete any comment he does NOT want to keep on here. That is the Good News for today LOL

glo said...

Oh and I would miss so many of the Famous People who have stopped by to say Hello to us in many different ways too LOL

Sorry i am tired and my brain is still a little smoked in.. Hope that doesn't sound wrong if the Gov't stops by Geesh. LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

There they go again, busier than cats covering up pee!

Buta is trying so hard to motivate! Bless her heart.

glo said...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

When I tried to bring Tai's camera up a while ago, couldn't see anything on panda cam 1 and panda cam 2 was overloaded!

wvgal_dana said...

Wow they are so elegant

I can't even knit like they build a nest together.

hee hee just thinking Todd nor Jo would want a "poop shoot" from the elephant Kent nest lol

glo said...

The one in the nest is back and forth from each side, I bet its watching the other try to bring a .log up there next...

wvgal_dana said...

I haen't looked yet on the Kent site did it say how many years they have been coming back and how many babies they have had (the eagles not elephants)???

glo said...

LOL Ok well that explains what we seem to be watching them do for sure!!! Thanks

wvgal_dana said...

Sight and sound is great for cams. I am sure glad there is not "smell" cause CT has to be stinky. eekkk

wvgal_dana said...

Mits you think that is the male or female in nest now?

Mema Jo said...

Just returned - Man! Water hole is surely as busy as are the Kent Is eagles!
Anyone care to guess what the Light is right under the tree on Africam?

glo said...

Well I am NOT Mits and not sure where I even read this but I think I remember somewhere reading the female usually has a more Blow dried look to her feathers, and yes is bigger than the male but both would have to be there to see size...JMHO

glo said...

Hi Mema Jo you just getting in from Africa?

Mema Jo said...

Animal Planet: Love that little tree climber!

wvgal_dana said...

Tai is certainly a tree climber

MITS said...

Must have left the gates open tonight in Arica.

wvgal_dana said...

I wish we would have had time to do like a colleague of Liberty, Belle and the 3 eaglets.

Wonder if they will have the live video feed of them going..hummmm

I thought about if printer was working. Maybe a nice sheet with links of animal and bird websites to hand out.

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Lu and Doreen been visiting Africa. Checked on Tai he is following Mei around. Now I'm back in Africa.
How are you two doing?
Lu you get to America on Friday or is it next Friday?

MITS said...

Hello, Ladies from the UK!!! Eagles, elephants, zebras for awile there it was quite the zoo, not to mention "our" favorite boy, just looking cute, as always.

wvgal_dana said...

Anyone seen any lions at the waterhole?

wvgal_dana said...

Lu I bet you are excited...I wish you a happy trip and a good time here.

MITS said...

Eagle back at KENT!!!!!

wvgal_dana said...

Took the words right out of my mouth Mits lol

wvgal_dana said...

I think that is the female tail feathers fuller and more white and she is big.

MITS said...

Yes, LULU its a little wet there today. How close will you be to DC when you come over? Any chance you can make a side trip to see "your" boy?

paula eagleholic said...

Dana,
I am printing up some stuff for the Open House, I can put the links on the back of the sheet that I have already.

MITS said...

I don't think I have seen so much action as I did at the watering hole tonight. Yes, DOREEN saw the beast.

MITS said...

DOREEN, YOU GO GIRLFRIEND..GOT THE BIG CAN OF WAX!!!

MITS said...

DOREEN, make sure you are on Cam #2 at KENT, much clearer picture.

wvgal_dana said...

Paula seems like you are loaded down gal ... you are doing it all.

wvgal_dana said...

That's right "lady eagle" you never know how a dress fits till you try it on. So settle down in that nest to see how it fits.. :)

MITS said...

LULU, Just checked Google, it is about a 5 1/2 hour trip to DC from Danville.

wvgal_dana said...

Doreen she is beautiful can't wait to see Belle..

MITS said...

LULU Check on the panda cam page on the right hand side, sometimes they have info about hotel accomodations near the zoo and visiting info.

MITS said...

Good advice Dana!

MITS said...

Rub-a-dub-dub, DOREEN:):):)

wvgal_dana said...

By the way duh for me but this Kent Eagle nest is it in Kent, Washington or Kent, Maryland??

wvgal_dana said...

Instructions for Doreen
(1) lay pieces of paper all over you car
(2) let dry
(3) then rip away

results no hair and no paint ):

MITS said...

Check under visit, LOU, shows things and info for tourists.

paula eagleholic said...

Dana,
Put a couple of links on the page I am handing out that has links! Much easier!

MITS said...

Washington, DANA! The clock on the cam is Pacific time. So around 7 tonight you still have a chance of spotting the eagle, it will only be 4 there.

paula eagleholic said...

Jo is helping, too!

MITS said...

ROFLMAO!!! DOREEN you just won another quarter of a can!!! #225

MITS said...

Nite, LULU

Mema Jo said...

Mema Jo said...

Well, Mits I am a loner this evening & I am so hungry. I am going to find something good to eat somewhere! BBL

paula eagleholic said...

I think the BW cam is stuck again...

MITS said...

I went to the store last night and got some chicken and steak and veges and mashed taters, soo I may cook in tonight. Its dreary and showery, my kind of weather at the beach.

MITS said...

Believe you are correct, PAULA.

Bird Girl said...

Sharon, Jo, I have an answer for you re: mystery bird... check your email!

Hello all... sorry I've been away so long, I'm still fighting whatever bug is giving me this fever. It sucks.

Hope everyone is well. Check in when I can...

Bird Girl

p.s. Steve -- I never thought that this blog was an "official government blog" or it would be on the NCTC website... I figured it was just something you did on your own for us fans! We can always start a new blog if we have to, or use one of the other ones some of us have (glo, myself...). But please, don't get into trouble on our account!

wvgal_dana said...

Niters Lun across the Pond there in UK.....
Happy flying this Friday to America...hope all your friends over there can do with your Panda insite till you get back. Of course Doreen and Chrissy over there will be on the Panda prowl. :)

Need to fix dinner I will bb

Sounds good Paula. Having the links to animal and bird sites and being at NCTC I thought would halp families to know these sites would be interesting and safe.

glo said...

OK Sharon and Jo what is the Mystery Bird...I want to know too.

MITS said...

CCCCRRRRUUUUNNNCCCHH!!! Mei is inside eating her treats!

MITS said...

The old pop on a stick to get Tai out of the tree might just work, he is not up too high.

MITS said...

Its working, he is almost in.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Delphia says it is a Black-shouldered kite, Elanus caeruleus

MITS said...

Tai wants to nurse now.

MITS said...

They lured him in with the pop, then did not let him have it, that's rude.

MITS said...

Good Mei, she is letting him nurse.

glo said...

OK Thanks...gonna have to Google that after I fix a hot drink

paula eagleholic said...

Printed a Bald Eagle coloring sheet for the kids, w/ eagle fun facts on the back.

paula eagleholic said...

Cam at BW is updating again, eagle is gone.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I CURRENTLY HAVE IN MY POSSESSION THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CALENDAR I HAVE EVER OWNED IN MY LIFE!

Next to the collage page of our little still cam FRAPS stuff, it was the cover that actually took me several hours...but it was time well spent!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The eagles on the cover was the first thing I and my niece noticed. I would say that did take hours to do. Thanks again for all the hard work you put into this stuff.

Eagle-eyed Sharon this time Dana!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I have been called much worse back in the day!

glo said...

Well .Dana Lets just say we all have our memorable times around here and yep, you probably had one of those this morning

Mema Jo said...

Anyone venture a guess as to what the small animal is at the waterhole in Africa.... I just turned it on - Maybe someone saw a zoom close up??

Mema Jo said...

WHOA !!!!!!!!!
There is the close up !!

glo said...

LOL saw that Mema Jo maybe a wolf...ribs are showing and pretty skiddish. Camera man working all night I guess LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was thinking a dingo. What do ya think?

Mema Jo said...

Man! Knock me off my chair with that howl! I think I now see Geula's jackal

Before the Jackal, there was an ordinary looking dog-like animal drinking from the pond... He was very nervous & ran off. Then the howling jackal came.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

How about Africanis, dog of Africa?

Mema Jo said...

Did you hear the howl ?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Or, could it have been a painted wolf? I am googling. Be right back!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

No I had the sound down while I was working so I didn't hear it.

Mema Jo said...

I just learned something: dingos are from Australia & jackals are from Africa.

Mema Jo said...

There wasn't a close up of the second animal... The first one could have been the side-striped jackal...

Sharon you are wise to turn the sound down unless your watching - Sure can catch you off guard.. With that howling - I thought somebody had me!

Mema Jo said...

Turn up your sound !!!!

glo said...

OK I don't see him now but I hear him and so do my dogs, gonna turn it off so I can turn my dogs off too LOL
