One of the LunLun commentaries said they were watching very carefully about the bamboo brought in - afraid that it may poke & hurt Buta Buta. Wouldn't surprise me if someone's hand didn't reach in to the nest bed and remove it..........
Well, it's always a bad idea to eat in bed, crumbs and all... Like your poem Birdgirl- humor always helps me through the rough spots, so sad to hear about Martha.
Once Lun Lun realized the little one was squaking and geting buried in the bamboo though she stopped eating and got her babu out of the mess. Although there is some bamboo cradled up in there with Buta Buta I am sure.
I am deeply saddened by Martha's tragedy. I think something like this makes us all realize how fortunate we have been to be able to see Liberty and Belle this season.
Thanks Glo and JO- for answering my question. Hmm... need to drive by the nest, go thru Shepherdstown every day, but headed in a different direction, try to go by next week. Paula- That is hilarious, Humpty Dumpty and the wall. What a clever idea. Daughter is beyond cute costumes, wants to be scary. I'll be going as myself, scary enough..LOL
Jo, I would have to guess that Martha was at least 12-14 years old. If that was their first nest in 1998, and she was first an adult then, she would have to be at least that age range.
I am back. I have to tell you all -- I went to the school where the financial aid meeting was and they had us wait in the library. I walk in the door and glanced at the magazine rack and there I saw the most beautiful Panda mom and cub on the cover of National Geographic. Well, you would have thought Andrew's picture was on it. I got so excited, they let me have the book. Beautiful pictures of Mei holding him just like a baby. Pics I had never seen before of them. Awesome!!!
BirdGirl, I absolutely loved your poem. Thanks for sharing that with us. I bet George is pissed too (unless he has already taken off with Monica, of course).
No, no Sharon, George wouldn't take off with Monica, that was Bill. LOL. I was reading on the Tri-state bird rescue site that many of the eagles they recieved this year had been poisoned or shot. How sad..
SHARON you lucky duck. It must have been sent by God. JO, I mentioned in an earlier post, son wants Maggie to be a "RED HOT CHILI PEPPER" I'm backing off since this is her 1st Halloween and the parents want to be in charge of her outfit.
I really didn't learn anything I didn't already know. I have to make sure I get the FAFSA filled out as soon after January 1 as I can. I did find out today that his grade point average is 3.9 and he is 20th in his class. That ain't too shabby!
I either left it in the car or laying on the kitchen counter. I would have to wake Mommy up to check the kitchen so I will wait until morning. There is a picture of him that somebody took through the glass. He is in his little black tub, arms and legs up in the air and mouth wide open like he was just having a ball!
ROFLMAO! Andrew just went walking down the steps singing "I Will Survive". I just joined right in and sang it with him. I asked him where he learned that and he said he has known it for a long time. Love that kid.
They are spanning the globe for wildlife in Africa. Buta Buta is as snug as a bug in a rub. Just saw Mei wondering around. They keep changing the angle on the Frodocam.
Whoa! Did you see that on the Brisbane cam. It did a complete close up of one of the chicks sitting in the corner. Before it showed 2 of the other chicks & one adult with a long span shot. They are getting fancy down there & they haven't even mentioned in on the forum...
Don't really want a backlash on this but I am going to say it anyway -- the chicklets are definitely in the ugly duckling stage right now! What happened to those beautiful white fuzzballs?
The update for today says Lun Lun is steadily gaining her weight back. That is good for her. Humans work their butts off to lose weight after they have a baby!
I'm waiting a few minutes to see if I see the safari jeep go by like last night...then I am out of her til tomorrow. GOOD NIGHT EAGLE FRIENDS RIP, MARTHA! We will miss you!!!
Your son has a *great* GPA! Is that a 3.9 out of 4.0? Has he been in AP or other advanced classes, maybe even college-level classes? What clubs is he in, or sports? Maybe National Honor Society, or Boy Scouts or something like that? You would not believe how many scholarships are out there for little things like that!
You said he was 20th in his class...how many in his class? Ranking in the top 10% is good, but 5% or better will get more $$$.
Has he already taken the ACT and SAT? National Merit Finalists (SAT) get some $$. He should take BOTH tests if he hasn't already. Personally, I did poorly on my SAT but did fantastic on my ACT, so I didn't submit my SAT scores; taking both gives you more coverage that way, as it were.

All that mattered was that the previous year, my mom got $35k. So I didn't get to go to Australia.

WOW !! Now that was worth staying up for almost left to take nap. She was alone for a good while. Atlanta people let me pick up Buta Buta. She just snuggled right in towards my neck and she wiggled it was neat. Have to watch for those little tiny nails though they scratch. She is so so soft. She does smell like hay though. Oh what an experience------NOT false story just a wishing dream hee hee
Good Morning Dana & Suzanne. Up & about earlier then usual. I got to see ButaButa alone & Tai swaying up in a not-so-strong tree. No eagle sighting at BW. I am off to get my great granddaughter for today. I'll return but not until much later - Going into the world of make believe!
Good Morning. Hope all are having a good day. grocery shopping for me, just about out of Dog Food LOL. Be sure to keep good notes. Think I'll fix some breakfast and go to Africa first lOL

Aww bless her heart you know she is hungry or she wouldn't have brought it in there but she is taking care of Buta Buta instead.
Freidas chicks are a flappin
I am deeply saddened by Martha's tragedy. I think something like this makes us all realize how fortunate we have been to be able to see Liberty and Belle this season.
Here is my tribute to Martha:
Her Picture.
Birdgirl, that was beautiful.
I'm back...PAULA She was beautiful. Been watching she and George on our local news since 1998, I wiss miss her.
You were right Mema Jo They are trying to get osme of it out of there. She is still lying on too much of it i guess!!
Bamboo all gone lOL
Floral
The update from Steven was that they have seen Liberty and Belle still at the nest!
Exactly it was :
We have in fact seen both adults around the nest a fair amount recently.
Jo,
Taking orders! Just let me know before you head out for the weekend.
Mits,
My grandson is going to be Humpty-Dumpty, and my son is dressing up as the wall!
Wow, check out the Brisbane angle...when did they do that?
Yes, just saw that Paula It happened within the last half hour when I checked them last.
Good to have Martha's picture here on the blog. THanks, Paula. I wonder just how old she was. Mits said 1998 when they started nesting -
Thanks Glo and JO- for answering my question. Hmm... need to drive by the nest, go thru Shepherdstown every day, but headed in a different direction, try to go by next week. Paula- That is hilarious, Humpty Dumpty and the wall. What a clever idea. Daughter is beyond cute costumes, wants to be scary. I'll be going as myself, scary enough..LOL
I am glad that she isn't suffering anymore. Don;t want to think about her not being found.
Whoa, that is a different view on the Frodo cam.
I'll be on the front porch handing out candy :)
Came back to see who won the race for 250.........
Congrats, Paula
Makes ya kinda dizzy, doesn't it?
Did you find a costume for Maggie, Mits?
Thanks, Jo, but don't really care about the wax tonight. Glo and Vicky can have it.
The F&F Cam - makes you feel like you could fall downward onto poopy pebbles.
Yea, that's what I thought about that cam view, makes me dizzy.
Jo,
I would have to guess that Martha was at least 12-14 years old. If that was their first nest in 1998, and she was first an adult then, she would have to be at least that age range.
Poem was good ty Birdgirl
Pic is a great honor Paula
Glad they got some of the bamboo out of there...no pokie little porkie sweetie pie
LOL, those are definitely poopy pebbles
yes they are Paula very yucky and going to get even more yucky
I'll see you all tomorrow tc Have Sweet Eagle/Panda Dreams to all in here and lurkers.
Nite from me to you

Gnite, Dana! Pleasant dreams to you too!
Off to watch the rest of Nip/Tuck. Was reading the Frodoforum...lots of good stuff on there if you haven't read it lately..
No, no Sharon, George wouldn't take off with Monica, that was Bill. LOL. I was reading on the Tri-state bird rescue site that many of the eagles they recieved this year had been poisoned or shot. How sad..
Glad you got a book you liked Sharon thats neat.
I'm gonna let my dogs out and call it a day for today. I will BLOG tomorrow. Good nights sleep all.
Nite Dana, nite Glo. Sharon I have that Nat'l Geographic, such beautiful pictures!
PAULA That is too funny.
SHARON you lucky duck. It must have been sent by God. JO, I mentioned in an earlier post, son wants Maggie to be a "RED HOT CHILI PEPPER" I'm backing off since this is her 1st Halloween and the parents want to be in charge of her outfit.
SHARON, WHAT MONTH IS IT??
One year Andrew went trick or treating as Santa Claus. Pretty unique, didn't see another like him!
Mits, I think it was July. I must have left it in the car.
I bet it was July since he was 1 year old then.
Mits I thought you were sorta joking about Red Hot Chili Pepper - I was thinking of the music group HeeHee!
Ok! I've been gone awhile - hubby took my computer for himself... he has his own but needed to print something real fast.........so I'm back.
Sharon Was the meeting informative or like give you good suggestions how to get $10,000 fast money????
Sharon You left it in the car?
I would have bet my last dollar that it was going under your pillow tonight to sleep on!
I really didn't learn anything I didn't already know. I have to make sure I get the FAFSA filled out as soon after January 1 as I can. I did find out today that his grade point average is 3.9 and he is 20th in his class. That ain't too shabby!

Buta is all alone again.
I am not very fond of the new view down under. Makes me kind of dizzy looking at it for some reason.
I need an eagle cam quick!!!!!!!!!
Did you see her stretch - she's doing her hind leg exercises....
I hope the bamboo doesn't come in again.
That is a great accomplishment on his part, Sharon, Im sure you're real proud.
She is pumping up muscles. She's got trees to climb, mommy to ride, lots of exploration getting ready to happen for her. Lun Lun is back. No bamboo!!
MEMA JO, YOU ARE ONE HIP LADY, THINKING OF THE ROCK GROUP FIRST. LOL!!! No there really is a little bunting outfit in the shape of a chili pepper.
I am really proud but was a little shocked it was so high. He is a really smart kid, just gets a little lazy sometimes.
I have to say lazy like his Momma sometimes.
Tai just came out of the cubby hole. I was wondering why they had the camera pointed there. Couldn't see anything but a black hole!
SHARON THAT IS JUST AWESOME ABOUT ANDREW. WHAT A WONDERFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT. You have taught him well, my friend.
Mits, what is the deal with the camera going light to dark on Tai and Mei. You are the master Tai and Mei watcher.
Freidas' cam is giving me a touch of vertigo. Don't like that downward view, but, don't say anything to them, they might get angry.
I can't tell heads from tails on those chicklets sometimes.
You are hip, Jo , And the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of my favorite bands.
MAN OH MAN - Making it look like it is lightning in the den.. That should scare our little guy - They best stop it right now.
Looks as though they did stop it.
Its 5 in the morning in Africa, the birds are waking up and the dawn is breaking.
Sharon I can imagine just how proud you are of your son! Such a good feeling.
ROFLMAO! Andrew just went walking down the steps singing "I Will Survive". I just joined right in and sang it with him. I asked him where he learned that and he said he has known it for a long time. Love that kid.
What month do you reckon our cam will be up?
I don't know what the deal is with the lights in those dens. You really can't see anything anymore.
Wonder what time the baboons come out? :):):)
Last night around 11:30, I saw a truck going out like it was going on a safari.
wax
Got it. Sorry Illinois gals!
Think it might be storming there.
SHARON, you are NOT sorry! You crave the wax! Admit it!
Sharon - when looking at the chicks - they are starting to get their tail feathers. That's the only way I can tell where their head is.
More better on the chicklet cam!
It was storming the other day on the African cam. Pretty neat looking.
The cam is moving around in Africa, showing the dark storm clouds.
The view has changed once again on the Brisbane ledge. I am wondering if they have a robot arm now....?
They are spanning the globe for wildlife in Africa. Buta Buta is as snug as a bug in a rub. Just saw Mei wondering around. They keep changing the angle on the Frodocam.
They are looking for the bamboons now:):):):)
Man, I wish that cam was in color. It is just beautiful, with the sun coming up.
And I am anxiously awaiting the bamboons arrival!
When they lay flat, they remind me of chicken cutlets. JMHO:):):)!
ROFLMAO!!!! WE WANT BAMBOONS!!!!!
Chicks look like they are in a line-up.
I forgot to tell you all, last night as I sat out on the balcony a beautiful shooting star went by from west to east over the ocean.
Oh, Mits, I bet that was absolutely awesome.
Now where are those bamboons?
My bad!! I think the cam is in color, must be the night cam that throws me.
Chicken cutlets! ROFLMAO!!
We are still live and in color with Lun Lun and Buta Buta.
Time for me to put all these cams down... Have to get up earlier then my normal time in order to go pick up my Alexis (great granddaughter).
Don't you two stay up too late waiting for the monkeys..........
Good Night All
Sweet dreams
I will survive, I will survive....LaLa
I think they are around banging, ops, I mean bamming around, ops, I mean bumming around some where!
Do they read this blog in Atlanta? They immediately went to changing it to black and white! Should have kept my fingers still!
Mits, you are too bad. ROFLMAO!!
Not going to be here too much longer.
Me either. 4:45 a.m. was a long, long, long time ago!!
The cam cop is lurking everywhere.
P.S. Lights just went off in LunLun's area. Was watching while they did the set up on the cam menu.
Good Night.
I think I saw a bamboon running off in the distance:):):):)
The update for today says Lun Lun is steadily gaining her weight back. That is good for her. Humans work their butts off to lose weight after they have a baby!
Bamboons must not be early risers in Africa, or anything else for that matter, but I am still watching for a minute or 2.
No bamboons. Going to bed now.
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!!
I'm waiting a few minutes to see if I see the safari jeep go by like last night...then I am out of her til tomorrow. GOOD NIGHT EAGLE FRIENDS RIP, MARTHA! We will miss you!!!
Jeep just went by, so nitey-nite.
SHARON, YOU JUST MISSED THE SAFARI JEEP GO BY
Sharon,
