News Update: Undercover K-9 agent Zach has apparently infiltrated the hideout of Canadian suspect Hoda the Amazing. He plans to stay close under foot as a means of gathering tasty tidbits of information. Reports indicate there was a flurry of activity at a local Starbucks but Agent Zach thinks that was to divert attention from the armada of boats now stationed off the coast of Conn. The RMCP are playing nice and being very sweet to the suspect. Feather reward has not yet been claimed. A turtle shell is now being offered as a second reward for the capture of Hoda the Amazing.

BRINGING OVER FROM FB

Beverly Crisco Riffe
Well that was a mess, a total mess. They evacuated 30,000 people from Mitchell Stadium and opened two gates I didn't know where anyone was, couldn't find a soul. I am very claustrophobic and was in the middle of a zillion people. Lost it, I totally lost it!! Got up on the bleachers and Tom, Tammy, Mattie, and Jaz saw me, thank God. Terrible planning on the part of the people doing the evacuating. Everyone was parked way, way up the road, couldn't get to their cars without walking 1/2 mile or more in a storm. What a mess it was. So grateful to be home! Hate I didn't get to see Eric Church or Jake Owen, but very grateful to be home.

Lynne2 said...

going out to do a quick RECON of the area....warnings are coming fast and furious on the weather radio.....

okay Shirley..no power, so you have to conserve everything now

Shirley sent me a text message, said she wants to let everyone know "we are okay, no power, not sure what I sent on blog."

I told her I would pass this along...

I think many of our Momsters and Dadsters are out of power

Things at 911 are very busy now...told Jewels to come to my place if she needs to...
trees down, power lines down, high rise elderly complexes in town out of power, fire department is going to check on patients who are on oxygen...I am hearing this on my little pager radio

Mema Jo said...

Storm, I pray, has passed and I don't want it to return. We lost electric twice but for only minutes. Held my breath until it cam back on. I think that Sandi should be getting it now.
DC area hit hard - I bet Judie is without power.
Hope everyone in safe and INSIDE.
Too many trees down and that means electric lines also.

magpie said...

Good to see YOU Jo....I too think that many are without power...

911 dispatching one call after another, Jewels is still there, and I think there are some trees down on some of the roads out her way....
she's working over...and I might end up going in early...

magpie said...

Hoping the Sycamore Palace and the Royal Family are all okay, but more so, that all of US and our loved ones will get through this one without too much disarray....
no air conditioning is going to be a challenge in addition to the other no-power issues

going to pray myself to sleep and keep the night lights on long as I can

I see, Thanks to Andy, that I thought it was Sharon but it was Bev stuck in the mess in the storm in the bleachers....
sorry it had to be anyone in trouble...
many areas had winds in the 70 and 80 mph range, millions without power ..might be awhile before we hear from each other

Good morning Carol Anne and Margy! Thunder woke me some time during the night but I didn't even look at the time. Just heard Bandit scrambling to get between the toilet and the tub in our bathroom. I heard rain on the skylight and, this morning, I see lots of small branches down so we must have had some wind, but no big problems in the area (that I'm aware of).

I hope everyone stayed safe!

Bev, what a scary situation for you at the stadium!

Lynne, sorry about your MIL's garden and water in the house from the leaking window, but at least she's safe.

Sun is out here this AM and it's gonna be another hot one!

Denny and I are going kayaking for a few hours early this AM - hunting local wildlife, armed with a camera! Then we'll head to the beach with family. Will check in later!

Just so not to cause panic, we are all fine here at my place. GH is sturdy and has withstood stronger winds than last night, so I don't worry about it too much. Snow is usually a bigger issue with it. The gardens are a mess, and some plants are a loss, and many will have to be picked up and staked, but it could have been much worse, and I'm grateful it wasn't. Also, we are lucky enough to still have power, so the a/c is on, and that's crucial for me right now due to a health issue I'm dealing with. I hope everyone else is ok, and those without power get it back soon, they are saying it could be a while in many areas, though, due to the amount of trees down.

CarolAnne said...

Megan, take care while saving what you can - don't overdo in the heat.

So good to hear from you all - Shirley hope your power will be soon coming. Jenny's went off around 10 pm and they were told it could be days! The electric companies need a logging crew before they can get into the lines.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Good to see some Momsters checking in. Would love to hear from Wanda and Lynne. I know Shirley is without power, but ok. Goodness, what a storm! Was there hail? I was wondering if the damage at Lynne's MIL's was wind, hail, or a mix?

Good Morning to those with power and here!

Quite the storms last night. Happy to hear from Megan that they survived the storm and she still has power for the A/C.

I did the same, checking FB to see who posted and who didn't. I am sure many are still without power and it will probably take some time to get everyone restored again.

Prayers that everyone is safe. Thankful for basements.....to keep you cooler!

FYI locals - just be aware of the possibility of storms again tonight-
Foot's Forecast
2:48 PM 6/30- Showers in southern PA & northern MD a sign of things to come. Current or future radar may not look like much, but upper level instability that's invisible in the sky will change things in a hurry. A stronger pulse of energy behind these cells in a few hours will first fire off thunderstorms seemingly out of nowhere in northern VA- western MD-near DC- and along the I-270 corridor.

STATUS: A number of strong indicators we are tracking from the NOAA Storm Prediction Center and outlined by Sterling NWS suggest a longer period of damaging winds tonight -starting in Frederick Co then going south and east in the 5-8 pm time period.

TIMING: Carroll by 6 pm, Baltimore City/Co by 7 pm - Harford/Cecil by 8 pm - and Howard/Anne Arundel/Montco on the lower end of what might be a "Bow Echo" develop from 5-6 pm and then plow over the Bay and smack into the Eastern Shore by 9 pm.

We will have more updates as the data wagons begin circling.

CarolAnne said...

4:30 pm Wisconsin time - MT nest, sunny, no apparent breeze

Mema Jo said...

Megan Thank you for the info!
If you get a chance - repeat the link to Foot's

NatureNut said...

POWER!!!!!! Hopping on in case it goes out again! Thx, Megan. We've had battery radio on since early AM & heard there could be more. Praying all our Eaglebuds are OK. Mont. Co. was supposed to be worse (don't know how), but was wondering about Helen,Mits.
Fubby hooked up generator outside and plugged in the fridge and a fan! Love 90° air blowing around!
Meanwhile, daughter, Sherry, got packed up and they left a little early for Reagan Nat'l as supposedly traffic was bad.Her flight wasn't until 5:15. She said traffic was OK--radio was wrong! So I had to stay home and babysit the generator!
The power did come on about 3 PM, so I turned off noisey generator & then juice went off again! DUH
Our bad srorm was around 11 PM & neighbor girl had half a tree blow down.Just fell in yard thank goodness. I saw a sword type rod in front of house. Turned out to be the back patio umbrella handle!!Guess it flew over the roof.Went out w/raincoat and cranked it back down. It and the glass table didn't get broken!
Think we'll have to move downstairs. It will take forever for AC to do anything!
Hope all are well and take care for any more! ☺ ♥

stronghunter said...

Oh dear, still double posting.

stronghunter said...

Could never get to the current postings on my phone last night. I could not read my own posts, so I just tried to let everyone know we were okay.

When I saw the storms were on this side of Culpeper, I hollered for Hunter to come down and help me secure the front porch, but the power went out with the first blast of wind, and, since they were saying we were in for 90 mph winds, we gathered all of the critters and went into the basement.

Will was down there taking a nap, and he awakened to the sound of a meowing cat being hauled downstairs by Hunter.

Funny thing, I did manage to throw one of the porch chairs into the house last night. When I got up this morning, I found a very small wasp nest on the chair. There was one confused wasp sitting there looking at me.

I put the chair, wasp and all, out on the porch. When the wasp had left, I removed the nest.

Isn't it nice to have power again, Loretta?

Hello All...

Can't remember if I've been on the blog today or just facebook??
We lost power last night and it came back on sometime early morning. It was sooo hot!
Went in to check on GG and she, also was without power all night and all morning. I was getting an overnight bag ready to bring her here when the power came back on. She didn't know there was a power outage...told me there was something wrong with her lights:) Power came back on around 3:45pm.

I read that most of you have power now and Carolyn has a generator. I'm anxious to see what all she can run on her generator. Want to get one for GG but Gene said it is more complicated than just plugging it in. Special wiring and a commercial type one to keep central air and two freezers going. Need to read more about that possibility~

Hope the possibility of another storm tonight does not pan out!

Stay safe my friends♥

Good morning everyone. I see its a special day today. Happy Birthday ((((Margy)))) I surely hope it holds some cool memories for you.

WVJerry said...

Not sure where to start - how about a Happy Birthday to Msrgy. A lot has happened. Got power back on Saturday about 4:00 PM. Storm broke an old locust tree and it missed house by inches. We had it tough but I'm sure many had it/still got it much worse. I see nest is empty this morning. We tried to fish last Sunday at Dam #4 and it was too crowded. On way back out we saw one of the juvies high in the attic. Hard to see the nest unless you knew it was there. Hope this posts...on my phone. Hope everyone has a great day and everyone gets everything they need. Take care all.

WVJerry said...

Wow - so sorry Margy. My typing just leaves do much to be desired. My deepest apologies.

Lori O. said...

JERRY, it's so cool that you get to see the nest when you go fishing...and you saw one of the juvies! Glad your power is back and the tree missed your house!

Lori O. said...

JERRY, don't worry about any typos. It's how we get some of our greatest words for the Momster/Dadster lexicon!

yep, WVJerry, typos welcome here !
Sorry about the loss of the locust tree but relieved you and the family are OK!

the neighborhood not far from GG's really had lots and lots of trees down damage...It's a blessing that power was restored so quickly there

Lolly said...

Article in our paper today about your storm. Jack and I have learned a new work "duh RAY choh".

What do you mean typos. I've made three comments and so far only two typos. LOL Duh...........

I do wish we would hear from, Lynne. She has not reported in that I know of.

Margy, Margy, Margy! The only way I can be on key is to sing on the keyboard.☺

Well my traveling son is home! He is still on cloud 9! Such an experience he must have had even if only for a week.
They will be putting up photos soon and I'll be sure to share. I can make the album on FB but they give me a link to email them to you. Well, now that Mike
is home - Hubby & I are going to the
BEACH - did you hear me! lol ♥

I'll be back to tell you more before I leave this evening...... ♥

floralgirl said...

OH, I heard you, Jo :)
No market for me today, just wasn't up to it. Back to my old self next week I hope.
Really hot out there again today, so take care if you're out in it. I think Carolyn got her power back, hope everyone else has theirs. Still wondering about Lynne and Judie, has anyone heard from them?

Mema Jo said...

No word from either of them. I'm sorry you missed market - I'm sure with the storm you were beat! Take care -
Love ya, Megan ♥

floralgirl said...

Thanks, Jo. Back at ya :) Have a great time at the beach!

Have my feet up.

Waiting for Virginia to arrive.

Got the kids to remove the television from the dining room table.

Pillowcases for her bed are in the dryer.

Dogs have been bathed.

There is a pogo stick in the dining room, a World War I German helmet (I think) on the end table in the family room, and a basketball somewhere back there, I think in the kitchen, but I have reached the end of my energy.

Sent kids out for food for tonight. We thought we might get blue crabs, but there is a shortage, so we will go with crab legs, salad, corn, and ice cream, beer, and wine coolers.

I think we will be fine.

I have already warned Virginia that she is coming to a crazy household.

Good grief, it is hot out there. I about melted when I went out to tidy up the porch and water the plants.

Bought a new hose that I thought would not kink. I was wrong. Ended up getting soaked to the skin trying to mess with that hose--a mixture of sweat and water. You know you are too hot when the sweat stings your eyes and it does not help when you wipe it away.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I am enjoying my rest.

stronghunter said...

Have not heard from Judie. I will check on the last time Lynne played WWF.

stronghunter said...

Lynne has not played any games for awhile. So many people are still without power.

♪♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR MARGY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! You are so busy always taking care of others, hope you have a Day and Whole Year of Enjoyment for Yourself!! Much Love ☺ ♥♥ ♫♪

Shirley, glad you made it thru the storms OK. I was really worried about your area, as we couldn't get any news on areas hit & they almost always mention your part of VA!
We got no storm last night and there's only tiny chance tonight---mostly will be South and East of here.
I'm having some plant problems that I hope I can blame on weather! About 5 pots are not happy like they were a month or so ago.I guess they don't like drowning and frying! For the first year, my red, white, and blue 4th of July petunias are going to be puny. Boo!
Megan, good luck to you keeping things growing. Weather is so unpredictable.

stronghunter said...

Loretta, this heat cannot be good for plants. Not good for people, either.

stronghunter said...

I am afraid I can tell I am getting older. Used to be able to keep going much longer. Now, I have to stop and rest more often. Good to have the kids around to help out when that happens. Will went out for crab legs; Kathryn and Bill went for salad, corn, ice cream, and firewood. Will wants to make a campfire tonight. More power to him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO NILLA AND CA'S HUBBY!!!

Got call from daughter this AM. She got home 2 hours late at midnight from plane trip. Connection was from here to Detroit, then straight thru to Austin, TX. In Detroit, the little "tractor" that pulls the plane away from loading zone had a dead battery!!!!They went to get another and it was broken!!! DUH!

NatureNut said...

Yes indeed! Have to congratulate HODA, THE AMAZING, ON HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!
Wonder if the Dragon Boat will be launched in Maine? Can sail down the East Coast, visit Delaware & Ocean City, and Paradise, then scoot up the Chesapeake to all our other spots!

JudyEddy said...

Headin back to work

stronghunter said...

Appreciate your concern, Loretta. I was worried about everybody what with that storm and all. Geesh, it was a bad one.

stronghunter said...

I was so very happy when the power came back on yesterday afternoon.

Lolly said...

Got home from church and after changing clothes went straight outside! (surprise! surprise!) Really a nice day today. Presently 91 and occasionally a cloud will cover the sun. Nice!

So, we are missing Lynne and Judie! Ready for them to report in!!

Megan: I was kinda kicking myself for not trekking out to market...but I got up, then took a nap, then got up and time was running short....so I see I made the right choice...BUT, .... I am saying I am sorry for the reasons you were not up for it because...you are such a presence there and I know it means a lot to you also.
I hear Shepherdstown Street Fest went off nicely Saturday night

My sister, about five miles from Judie in Annandale, has no phones and no power...I am going to hunt up my cell phone number for Judie and try a ring a ling...and invite her to the Big House with Audrey and Grace and Darth if they so desire...
Plenty of room and wildlife there

I'm thinking Kenneth on CarolAnne's husband, but I am also thinking Dennis, so ..therefore, I am confused, geeze turn one day older and I'm losing it !!!

I guess we can settle on CUBBY !!!

magpie said...

any contact from Paula on any of our networks ??

magpie said...

hate to use bad words but double damn...I don't have Judie's cell phone number with me, it's at the OTHER place I think

Lolly said...

Is her cell phone number on our list?

Sandi said...

Wow, what a beautiful day on the beach - nice breeze, ocean wasn't freezing!

Jo, c'mon down, the weather is great!!

Shirley, Dennis bought a "guaranteed not to kink" hose about 4 years ago - it's the worst damn hose I have ever used! Kinks EVERY time!!

Mitch (my sister's husband) is taking a shower and then driving home to Elkridge b/c their power hasn't been restored and he's worried about spoiled food in the refrigerator and melted ice in the freezer that could flood the kitchen. Poor guy!

magpie said...

I don't think so...I did check that before I left, but I have a burgeoning Momsters Address and info file...not even sure it is going to be in there....
darn it !! I had it on an email and I am searching furiously for that but not getting anywhere !!!
AAAAARRRGH, that's another Lynn term ☺♥ How I miss her everyday !
I WAS at Lynn's Lair the other day on a mission, and did spider web eradication duty !
