Mother had given me a pear to bring home yesterday. I just ate it after some soup. That pear was so fresh and juicy.

:( Sad does this mean we will have no light at night time on the nest??

magpie said...

That's correct, Dana...unless the Moon is Shining Brightly

I missed the Blackwater Eagle !

Interesting, one of our I-T folks at work...his wife works at the NCTC Day Care Center! We were watching the nest today when he was in the office...he knows about all the Drama from the past season...

magpie said...

yum, pears...they can be divine !

we have our 'Holiday Party' at the office Wednesday, rescheduled from Dec 15 - so I must go make up my cheese salad for sandwiches, wrap gift for my Secret Santa person...

after this, guess we will start getting our Holiday Tree ready for Valentine's Day ♥

magpie said...

something different for this salad, going to mix in some Hot Habanero (Jalapeno) cheese !

OK - here's your laughable mental image for the day. Took the dogs for their walk. Bundled up to the eyeballs as windchill was hovering around zero. Sort of a waddle/walk with all the layers. Got back to discover I had locked us out. But doggie door was not locked . .. so here's the hilarious mental image -- down on my belly trying to get far enough thru doggie door to reach the lock in the door knob and turn it without getting stuck half in and half out. LOL(not what I was saying at the time).

NOTE TO BURGLARS-DO NOT TRY THIS - DOGGIE DOOR INDICATES DOG ON PREMISES!!

Whoo hoo, BW is up!

We DO HAVE A NITE LIGHT...IT JUST WORKS LIKE CRAP! IT ONLY WORKS WHEN WE HAVE MOONLIGHT TO ASSIST IT.

JudyEddy said...

Not fair Danamo you have three labs you could share one LOL It is so darn cold I think that is what is killing my neck also Its going to be freeze warning tonight

Just got home just had to go by the cell phone tower and see both eagle were there and still there when I left

paula eagleholic said...

Sounds like you made it work, C/A, LOL, great image!

hedgie said...

That must have been a good photo op, CarolANne, if someone had been there to take it! I assume that you WERE successful getting the door open!! AND getting out of that door, too! Too funny!
You are home now, right? Trip was okay?

Paula is correct...nightlight is a big failure for another year. :(

JudyEddy said...

LYNN I asked my pharmacist about the different from 90 to 16 on you prescript and he said that hey probably are giving you a special price with a coupon that they get from the mfg So hope it will continue
So sorry for your insurance DanaWV

DANAMO 1:09 is the post from Wanda about RL I cheated I have mine emailed to me and was easy to find being its in 'ABC order also

CarolAnne said...

Yep, got door unlocked - dogs thought it was great fun to have me down at their level (but not much help to me). Trip home yesterday went fine. Roads had blowing snow across them, but were otherwise clear. Only slippery spot was about 4 blocks from home, last curve as we come into residential area, cars were sort of making the curve going sideways.
Home for a few weeks now.

Hoda said...

CAROLANNE that is HILARIOUS... I presume that since you posted you are actually IN your home and all is well...I loved NOTE TO BURGLAR!!! GREAT HUMOUR.

Well after yoga I was asked to go for a cup of tea and how can I say no???LOL I did run my errands too though so all is indeed well. I would have missed the visit even if I had not gone for tea.

Lots of fresh snow here. There was another avaalanche in BC yesterday and this one was a party of two skiers in the same area the first avalanche took place with the first fatality. No fatality this time and they did rescue them. I think they should also get the bill for the rescue, since they were stupid enough to go out to this area again...friends of the lad who perished...stupid I thought to my self...
Several avalanches in the Kootenay region but they were deliberatly set so no accidents would happen...keep your fingers crossed.

Cath

All went well, other then Tori displaying high blood pressure in her lungs which is a part of what her disease does she did well. Tori told me she panicked so they gave her a little something to calm her otherwise no other meds were used.
Tori's neck is stiff and sore now that the novacaine has worn off but she is playing world of warcraft so she is doing a bit better.

Good evening!

Had some trouble getting onto this page of the thread. I got told that it was taking too long to load.

I was away much of the day--bowling and talking to one of my teammates, then grocery shopping. Joan, the teammate who had the stroke, and I talked for a long time. She is much better, but on lots of medications.

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY I had the experience of it taking too long to load a page from this blog yesterday...even after I posted it was slower than cold molasses in the middle of January...Maybe this is why STEVE spent three hours giving us a new thread???

hedgie said...

Dinner's done, and now it's time for Jeopardy, and then the CBS shows. Later, gators.

wvgal_dana said...

It was me that paid for the eagle calendar and they forgot to put it in the bag. They are holding it for me and I have the receipt.

Lynn, I was going to stay with my neighbor at the beach, but now I think I'm going down with a friend who wants to check on his place at the shore as well, so I will stay at his house. He has heat and water ☺ Then Sunday, we will go check on my house, and I hope to hit Blackwater on the way home.

Good evening my eagle budlets.

I want to share something with you all but really don't know where to begin. Five years ago tomorrow, my dear sister, Donna, passed away. I have no words to describe the support the eaglet momsters gave to me and my family. She had no insurance and several momsters sent money to the funeral home to help pay on the expenses. Now at this time, I had not met even one of these wonderful people in person. This group has been such a power in my life. I am sad, however, that some of those people don't get on the blog anymore but some still do and that makes me very happy. I am so grateful for the love and support that we give to each other here. GOD IS AN EVER PRESENT POWER IN THE EAGLET MOMSTERS GROUP!!!

Just a couple of weeks before Donna's death is when I had the liver abscess. I got roses from Big Boy, Ms. InBetween and Spunky. Such special people live here on this blog and I love you all so much for loving me through so much in my life!!!
January 4, five years ago, I lost my dear sister Donna. e

Judie said...

Good evening all.

Busy day here putting away Christmas decorations and cleaning up the debris. Still need to do more house cleaning.

Hope all was well with everyone today.

The night light is set for 11:00pm for anyone headed back the hallway, down to the tub, up the stairs to bed, or wandering in from the West coast. Restful sleep for all. The sandperson is about to begin rounds with a bag full of pleasant dreams for all.

Hoda said...

SHARON, very touching and movivng post. Thank you. May you always carry your sister's grace with you in your heart. Remember that you being who you are allows the very touching things of which you spoke to happen...You are a BEAUTIFUL person SHARON and we are blessed to know you.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Oh Hoda, you made me cry. Thank you so much for your kind words. What a great blessing you are to this wonderful group of people!

stronghunter said...

Is it really that snowy in West Virginia? Interesting. We saw a few flakes around here, but not very many, and there is none on the ground. Kathryn saw more up where she works, and in Fairfax, where she took Luna to the eye doctor.

stronghunter said...

Sharon, I did not know this group five years ago, but I can surely agree that it is a wonderful group of people, and you are a special member of the group.

hedgie said...

Amazing how much better I feel after I get out of my clothes and soak in the tub!!

HODA: Dr. said all is well......bloodwork looks good, none of the skin side effects that he half-expected from the chemo. Urine spec had a few white cells, so they sent it for culture. He didn't want tp prescribe anti-spasmodics because he said it would make the colon issue worse.....so to take MiraLax, and eat more fiber, and to take Azo-Cranberry.....and voila, problems should be fine. HOPE he's right!!
A month after treatment ends, they will do another PET scan and see where things stand.
So I had oatmeal for breakfast, ate two celery stalks with PB this afternoon, and finished my stewed tomatoes this evening. We shall see.....

Yes, this group is AWESOME! Don't want anyone to have to experience tragedy, but know that if you do, we are with you every step of the way.
I, too, miss the folks who left us....but everyone does what they have to do in order to survive their own trials and tribulations. I hope they know that we would welcome them back with open arms.

Time for me to go upstairs.

One of my nicest Christmas gifts was a pair of very soft bed pillows from Susan. I am ready to go enjoy them. Morning does come early in this household.

I can remember when I did not know what I would do with myself when I retired. I do not have to worry about that anymore. My life is truly full.

YooooHoooo! I am here! House looks dull, sad, depressing....the tree is down! :( I got a lot done today and right after supper we both jumped in to take the tree down. I have vacuumed and moved furniture back in place and I am tired. Never did get a new tree. Guess I will look next year. Our tree is aboiut 20 years old and you would not believe the needles that are falling off of it. Still looks pretty though when decorated and lit!

Good evening !

*Hedgie: hoping you will continue to heal....

* Sharon: so sorry for your loss...time does heal, but often does not soften the pain.

*judy: loved the vid!

As for me: I haven't been on this evening....I did something new and adventurous for me. We went to a metro Nashville Council Meeting. I joined a group called UCAN and Backyard Poultry Advocates recently Nashville has been trying to determine if back yard chickens are right for Nashville. there would be no roosters, only hens for egg laying purposes. I have been in hopes that this would pass. I thikn there were 100+ people there in yellow or yellow UCAN shirts @ councils tonight! IT appears that metro passed the legistaion. I dont' know if there will be some tweaking to it ....I do understand those concerns of those against it ...such as people not putting up appropriate coops, etc....we dont' need anything that will bring down property values....but I think that this is a great idea and I look forward to my micro flock. I have already found a coop I want and am saving my $$$ to get it!!!! :)

hope everyone has had a fabulous day. its been chilly here, about 39 today; and going down into the 20's tonight. judy, hope you get a warm up soon! :)

but we and our furbabies are all snug and sound inside our home tonight. it is past my bedtime. livvy goes back to school tomorrow....

hmmmm. what a nice start to th enew year: a raise the first day back at work (restructuring of the current pay scale by new owners = a nice raise for me), 2. a new adventure in going to a council meeting and 3. it appears soon i will have chickens! wooooo hooo

have a super night and a better tomrrow!!! :D

SUCCESS AT RED LOBSTER!We were seated as soon as we walked in the door! Our problem last time we were there, was that we went on a Saturday night!
I had a whole steamed lobster with crab stuffed broiled mushrooms as an appetizer. Gene had the Bar Harbor Platter (or something like that) and a dozen oysters on the half shell (yuck!) Everything was so very good and worth the 5 month wait!

Sharon and family I know each year as the date of Donna's loss comes around it still brings saddness and a empty space in your lives. God Be With All Of You There in Bluefield tomorrow. ^j^

Good Morning Ladies of the AM.

Jo it sounds like you might be feeling a little better.

Wanda so happy you got into Red Lobster for you and Gene's Anniversary.

I again want to send Love and Friendship to all the Bluebird group at this time.♥♥

Nice to see you Margy (:

DanaMo are you ok?

JudyE I don't see any comments so I guess the eagles have not graced us yet.

See Sandi checked in.

Shirley yes Andy has been short in coming on.

good morning to one and all! still hyped after last night! yes, lots of fresh eggs....and we had already planned a raised garden so we are gonna be "micro city farmers!"....i dont' think i'll can like mom did, but maybe freeze some stuff. i will take and post pix as we go.

i think it was a good lesson for livvy to see people in action to work together to get a job done. of course, she was a little bored, but we talked a little after how this works and had chatted before as well.

and yes the fresh eggs are the MAIN bonus, but teaching her about "farm life" where food comes from, sustainability, etc is gonna be super.

judy, i remember mom talking about chickens, and she hated them because they followed here everywhere???? but other than that she didn't ever say much.

we are not allowed roosters, which is fine, i have no use for one. they are pretty tho! you'd laugh at me, i've been reading books for several months, learning how to do this, picking out breeds and such, talking to clients with chickens!

any way, enough of that for the moment.

school starts in a bit! tom is rolling the school bus out the drive way in a few (husband is retired navy, now drives a school bus) and will be getting livvy up for a day of fun and learning! lol. not her in opinion, but okay.

as for me: one client @ 11, but need to start crunching tax numbers and so do some organizing before i can do that. while massage envy sends me my tax info, all my Isis Masssage And Reiki stuff is mine as I am a sole proprioter (SP???)....and so all that is me. Not hard, just have to do it.

Hope everyone has a superb day! Smiles!

I guess the eagles are held up somewhere cuddling- huddled up trying to stay warm I can just visualize it Shep and Belle cuddling while beaking LOL

Good Morning DanaWV! I was fuming at your prescription/insurance mess yesterday. Hardly anything can put me in a tizzy like a pharmacy!

Sandi said...

At school - noe eagles yet?? CarolAnne, what a funny story. My first visual was of you looking like Ralphie's little brother in The Christmas Story when he's all bundled up in the snowsuit and he falls and can't get himself back up. But then, just picturing you trying to squeeze thru the doggy door! Too bad no one was behind you with a video cam - we would have been watching you on America's Funniest Home Videos!!
Janet, I'm a city girl so, excuse me if this is a stupid question, but chickens can lay eggs without roosters? Do the roosters just fertilize the eggs so they will become little chicks but the chickens can produce eggs on their own?
Lynn, glad to read the good report from the doctor!
DMo, you go girl - keep up the exercising!!
Kids will be arriving in a few so I've gotta get off the blog.
Stay safe, stay warm!! Bbrrr!! Cold out there this AM!! 15 degrees in Bethany Beach!

When Dad would fry oysters he would always eat some raw. Yuck I say too. He was always trying to get me to taste them and I would not. lol I miss him♥ too Wanda.

JudyEddy said...

Sandi I got this off of google
You are quite right. Hens will lay eggs whether or not they have mated. Of course the eggs are only fertilised if the hen has mated - eggs laid by a hen that hasn't mated are infertile and will never hatch. Those are the eggs we eat, though you CAN eat fertilised eggs. It's just that most people prefer not to.

Lori I have promised myself I was not going to let the perscription mess angure me. My luck if I do it will only make my health worse and they will get more money because of an added perscription. The Lord knows no pill should be a dollar. That we are all being taken over the river.

JudyEddy said...

Looks like its a now show for our eagles so I am going to the rocker and relax and finish watching the news

wvgal_dana said...

Eagles you can come on to the nest. I am working in my emails. So I might even miss you if you will come on and come to the nest.
Eagles here I go back into the emails.

Let's see:

*Judy: keys best warm up!!! lol. that's REALLY in the deep freeze for them. thinking about heading down taht way this summer, specfically to the dry tortugas to do some snorkeling ... still in the planning tho.

*lori and sandi, thank you for your support. yes, hens will create eggs without roosters, but of course, the eggs will not be fertilized. hens can lead long productive lives without a male around. :) (i had to do some reading my self when i thought about going into this: recommend keeping chickens for dummies, lol. one of the first that i read, then picked up another book with pix and now am some what educated about the whole thing lol. not an expert, but more educated than i was!)

wvgal: i will extend your thanks. :) and i apprecaite you taking moment to say so.

well, livvy is up and we are off and running on a normal morning....

Lori O. said...

DanaWV, that's a very wise position to take. Next time it happens to me, I'll call on you for support. :)

I've got about 10 minutes before kids arrive. I am so grouchy this morning. I really cannot take this cold.

Judie said...

Good morning everyone.

Lynn, so happy your medical report was so encouraging. Prayers continue, of course.

Sharon, I was not on the blog five years ago but I do send hugs of caring to you today.

Wanda, I agree about raw oysters but would have enjoyed all the others food. So happy you two had a great "date night."

Be back sometime later today.

DanaMo said...

I guess its too cold for our pair.

Hey Lori, I had to make a rule at my house that if it's under 35 degrees Annemarie has to wear a coat, Adam still left the house today in a hoodie!

Did you start your puzzle?
