Pretty name. Mine was Margaret. But I don't think I put as much thought into it as my kids did. They had to pick a name and do the research. So far I have, Andrew-Luke (patron of artists),Aric- Gregory (patron of musicians), and Adam-Anthony...
LOL! HOpe Lori doesn't read this she will be really confused!!! It's bad enough trying to keep my kids names straight and the dogs and who belongs to whom, and now I throw out Confirmation names!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne, yea, that's the reverse commute for Steve!

DanaMo said...

Oh...splitsville, and that is what I need to do.
Good night everyone!

Lynne2 said...

I choked on my host at my First Communion. Four thousand practice hosts and no choking. On the big day...CHOKE. UGH.

I put little thought into my confirmation name, I'm embarrassed to say. It was my Godmother's name and I really liked it.

paula eagleholic said...

Well, I ordered something to make for our next get together! It was mailed today...hope I can get it done by April!

paula eagleholic said...

To make for the auction....

DanaMo said...

Mine is my mother's name. Not that I don't love it, but I wish I would have picked it for a reason other than it being my mom's name. My kids really know why they picked the name they picked. I like that.

Okay really now. Good night.

Lynne2 said...

ooooo Paula, how mysterious!

paula eagleholic said...

Back to the tree!

hedgie said...

LOL!!!! DanaMo----I'm Lynn without the e!!!! Confusing, I know! I thought you meant a pic on Lynne2's blog!

Lynne2 said...

I don't remember much about prepping for my confirmation. It was happening at the same time as my parents were divorcing. Not a pretty time in a Catholic School girl's life.

Lynne2 said...

I've got to get to bed. I got just about 2 hours total sleep last night. UGH!

Good night and prayers for all!

hedgie said...

Lovely golden glow rising in the trees!

Hoda said...

Well I do not know what got into me!!! After the dishes I decided to do the laundry and then used the hand held vacuum and cleaned around the little tight corners in the kitchen near the stove area particularly gets messy...why would any one want carpet in the kitchen. This flat has a carpet in the kitchen and I do not like it at all...I am now thinking I will need to shampoo the carpets, but not tonight I am sure!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Hoda, I wouldn't want carpet in the kitchen either!

Lolly said...

Hi all! We got home, unloaded, and started the laundry. Also, did some online shopping, then Jack prepared breakfast for dinner. Bless him!

I think I have a lot to catch up on.

Lynne, I am so happy that Steve has a job. Yea! We just need to pray that it lasts for a long time!

Lynn, how are you doing? What is the latest report on your treatments?

I have so much to do but will get started in the morning. Also, we have Joseph's choir program tomorrow.

Lolly said...

Ugh! Carpet in the kitchen! My mother had a carpet in the vanity area of her bathroom. It got so yucky from hair spray! I just can not imagine carpet in my kitchen. I am a messy cook!!

I saw a hawk when I was traveling home eastbound I70 today from Frederick to Braddock Hgts exit. I think they gather
on I70 - never fails that I see one or even two.

Hoda said...

Black Capped Chicadee as Canada's National Bird!!!It gets many votes, seriously. The Loon and the Red Tailed Hawk both leave Canada for the winter...too cold for them.
Canada Goose is hated by our neighbour to the south...the Canadian Geese are obnoxious!!! Gray Jay is hardy and should be called the CANADA JAY...The Raven comes in with several votes "quiet and reserved like Canada..."
So this is tonight's installemt as to Canada's National Bird...HMMM I would like the Snow Owl but have not voted yet...

Mema Jo said...

Not watching anymore tv this evening except maybe the weather - rain is headed this way from TX. lol

I have some items to work on & tomorrow
is busy with Jenny. I'll check in before
going to the pillows.....

Hoda said...

PAULA and LOLLY yep from experience carpet in the ktichen is not a good idea...thank GOD no carpet in the bathroom though!!!LOL

hedgie said...

Sorry, gals, but I've had carpet in my kitchens for 33 yrs. and I would never want it any other way!!

hedgie said...

Lolly, I am NOT a messy cook....I am very meticulous when cooking, as well as being a cleaning freak.

I start radiation Monday. Still waiting to hear about chemo schedule.

Hoda said...

LYNN How do you keep the carpet clean in the kitchen. I just read that you are a neat cook, how often do you get it shampooed? I use the hand held vacuum almost every day especially near the fridge and stove...UGH!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn... a cleaning freak?!?! NO! LOL :):):)

Lolly said...

Well, I try to be neat but a little flour always ends up on the floor. Also, when chopping herbs...OMG, they go everywhere! I just cook and clean afterwards!

hedgie said...

I shampoo the carpet about once a year, Hoda. And I usually replace the kitchen and bathroom carpets about every three or four years. It's commercial grade, so relatively inexpensive---at least it was while Bill was in the business!!! But the box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot competed him out of business, along with the economy.

hedgie said...

LOL, Lolly----flour vacuums up very easily!! I remember dropping the sifter a couple of years ago!!

magpie said...

My stepdaughter Kurtz is about to get here...
with her Dad...Kurtz will stay here, her Dad, with friends elsewhere...
they'll see the Two Jameses Thursday...
Just wanted to say Hello...and I haven't read a thing backwards..

Hope to do some of that in the early morning...

(( Hugs ♥ )) Every one..

God Bless Us, Every One

hedgie said...

Yep, Paula. Type A personality! When I do tinsel...it's one strand at time, too!

hedgie said...

Oh, Margy, bet you are SO excited!! Tell Kurtz that your friends say Hi! And DO try to get some sleep tonight----you do have to work tomorrow, right??!!

Lolly said...

Wahooo! Tinsel people? I still hang tinsel! Tree is bare without it! I hang it very carefully one or two strands at a time.

Margy, you sound excited! Enjoy!

Whoa, just saw about the visit! I had my cam shut down, too.

hedgie said...

Oops....misunderstood about the Baby Jesus----my hearing must be going! Police have a lead on the theft.....MTBD. THey said the figure had been filled with cement after it was stolen once before and returned/recovered.

Mema Jo said...

I'm sure they thought they were sneaking in - I sure didn't see them.
At 9:00 I closed my cam - Geepers Judy, I am glad you can stay up later now that you start work later!

hedgie said...

Lolly said...

We have had 3 tenths inch of rain. Not a whole lot. Some folks got more. However, they say this next week we will get more! Want all the rain we can get. It is going to take a lot to fill lakes that are 12 feet below normal.

hedgie said...

Rain dance, Lolly!!! hope it keeps coming for you!

paula eagleholic said...

Glad the dry spell has at least been broken, Lolly. Do the experts think the trees will bloom again in the spring?

Lolly said...

Going to say good night. I am so tired and my head is splitting. (Sinus infection?) I am not congested but I am coughing my head off from all the drainage. Yuck!

Night all! Sweet dreams!

Hoda said...

Good on you JUDYE and LOLLY for seeing the eagle in the nest. MOST exciting.

Lolly said...

Oh, yes, trees that survived will bloom next spring. It is just sad to see all the trees that did not make it. Also, they say the drought will continue another year. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoda said...

JUDYE let me know when you finish downloading the video of tonight's visit. Thanks for being so on the ball with your camera.

Lolly said...

Pulling a Margy1 Just had to say I went to look at the picture of the piliated woodpecker. That is so cool! I would have been so excited if I had seen that on the cam. lol Thanks for getting it!

hedgie said...

Doesn't it break your heart, Lolly? I know how devastating it was seeing all the dead trees along the interstates in western MD from gypsy moths and a horrible ice storm about 7-8 yrs. ago. Just awful.
Please get to the Dr., gal!

To the tub I go. Will check back before I head upstairs. Goodnight to all going, going or gone!

Mema Jo said...

Enjoy your visitors, Margy.

I am ready to hit the pillows. Tomorrow, I hope, I will accomplish
what I didn't get done today. Maybe it was yesterday that I didn't get it even started to be done. It is what it is.

Good Night Friends.... Prayers for all..
Wishing for Linda to come in for a minute. Check out the candles please.

hedgie said...

Gee---this bird is all confused, isn't he? Too young for insomnia!!
Missed it, of course, as I was bathing. Hoda, the herky-jerky happened at night last year, too. Very frustrating. I think I am looking at an old silent movie from the 20's---keep expecting to hear organ music!

Goodnight, my sweet friends.
Prayers for all.

Hoda said...

LYNN You are great and what wonderful humour you have... your writing about the bird and insomnia... LOVE YOU!!!
Sleep well and see you in the morning...Sweet Dreams.

Hoda said...

It is windy at the nest, I can hear the wind.I wonder if this is why SHEP can not sleep.

Costume Lady said...

Well, now...do you suppose our love sick male was looking for late night Hanky Panky?:)

We got the Tent City folks furnished with some things we have been holding back for them until they got their new location set up and seemed very excited because it is legal and the police should not run them off. Hope it workd out for them. The 'Leader' of the group told us to 'ask' anytime for their help with whatever. I suppose we might the next time I order 2 tons of food!

Gene and I will be going into the church again, in the morning, to help prepare food for a funeral reception, so, I may not be on the blog, once again. No silver alert needed:)

GOOD NIGHT DEAR FRIENDS
SLEEP WELL
PRAYERS FOR ALL

Hoda said...

Well, ANDY has not logged on yet nd I hope all is well in her roost. Shirley has not set the night Light and Jo asked me to do it. So JUDIE when you are ready you will come back and tell us about all your activities and set the night light for us again.

In the meantime, I set the night light so that anyone coming in late would not stumble and those who wake up for any reason will be guided by the LIGHT.
I set the security system so that we will all know peace and comfort and that our dreams be sweet and knowing of gratitude.

Good night dear friends. Good morning LORI who will soon be up.
God Bless everyone. LINDA may you be well in your roost knowing of our love and our prayers for you and your family.

See you all in the morning..."The confused bird" as LYNN would say has not come down for a third time!!! LOL

Lori O. said...

How cool to have two night eagle visits! I don't think I have ever seen them in the nest in the dark. Can't wait to see the video, JudyE. Let me know when you post it. Thanks for the reporting, Judy, Hoda, Jo and Lolly, otherwise, we would have never known!

Lolly can't believe Texas lakes are down 12 feet...that makes for a totally different landscape doesn't it?

DanaMo, yes, I am now totally confused and didn't even try to remember the kid's confirmation names! Still working on what kid has which dog.

Margy have a great time with your family!

Lynne, yeah for Steve on the new job! They could ask him to stay on if they really like him. Prayers.

Time to get ready for the day. Make it a good one!

Kay said...

Here I am all bright eyed and bushy tailed--kind of--crashed early last night, can you tell ?

Amazed to hear Shep had insomnia last night and did a very late check of the nest ! Probably an assignment from Belle as in, "you are going to have to check on me and our wee ones through the night, so practice now !"

LYNNE, hopefully Steve will like the job better and better, especially once that 1st paycheck comes in. The 1st day on any job has a stressful aspect to it.

LORI, here is your first hug of the day--or maybe not. LOL {{{{{{{{{{{{LORI}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Now you only need about 4 more for your RDA for hugs !

Kay said...

DANAMO, I'm not at all familiar with many Catholic rites. At what age is one Confirmed and given a choice of Patron Saint names ? I take it AnneMarie has not yet chosen hers ? Taking a pop test:

Yours is Margaret (my mother's name was Margaret Eileen, love it !)

Allergic to dogs Andrew's is Luke (art)

Frisbee's Aric chose Gregory (music)

Boomer's Adam chose Anthony (finder or preventer of lost items )

Java's AnneMarie to be chosen

If I passed that test, please get more detailed by giving me their given middle names. I need all the mental exercises I can get ! I♥U !

Kay said...

The cam timed out at 15:00. No rhyme or reason to it !

Getting my Christmas present to myself today--four new Cooper tires. The 2006 envoy only has 27,000 miles on it, but the Goodyear tires it came with are about 3/4 shot and I want good tread between me and the ice and snow. Got the best deal on tires with a 60,000 mile life expectancy--I surely won't have to buy another set of tires in my lifetime !

Got a very excited call from Seth last night. His only intellectual deficit is in Math and in March he failed a test all students must pass before graduation. He did a retake last month after much tutoring by a couple of Math teachers and the school librarian. He passed ! So, as a 17 year old Junior he can relax about graduation requirements now. I'm so grateful to those teachers for taking a special interest in Seth ! You dedicated teachers rock !

Lori O. said...

Kay, I didn't realize you were here already! Good morning, darling!

Lori O. said...

Yes, you were my first hug of the morning. Maybe I can get Loo to give me one and I'll be close to half way on my hug RDR.

Okay, Kay, you are a show off! I've failed humongously when it comes to all those names and attributes... but you keep it up. I want you to remember me when I show up on your door step (one step) one day! LOL

Lori O. said...

OH KAY - I'm using your Clever ideas on the air next!

Kay said...

LORI, so glad you could put those household hints to such good use, even putting them on your website ! The apple cutting trick is very good, I agree !

Kay said...

RDR, not Recommended Daily Allowance as I implied ! Yeh, have Loo give you platonic hug !

Kay said...

Oh, LORI, my fav, Please Come Home for Christmas by the jazz great, Aaron Neville ! Thank you ! Kind of crazy of me to love a Christmas Blues number, huh ?

DanaMo said...

The "Protester" I really don't get it. How can "they" be the person of the year? I don't know.

DanaMo said...

Good on Seth! Those test "suck". Sorry not a nice word but I think it applies!

Oh BTW Good morning!

Kay said...

A young friend just shared her recipe for Fairy Cookies.

1 loaf of "pasty white bread"
Butter and Sprinkles

Spread butter on each slice, use holiday cookie cutters in center of each slice. Then generously apply sprinkles on each "cookie". The left over crusts/bread to be used for croutons or in stuffing for a Christmas bird.

Her kids, ages 12 and 8 had never, she thinks, had a piece of white bread before. They devoured the cookies in a hurry !

Seems a good grandparent idea to me.

Kay said...

DANAMO, Time has chosen groups for "Person of the Year" before, though I can't recall what they were. So, "The Protester" is just a collective phrase to acknowledge the impact protesters around the world, including our own country, have had this year.

Upon leaving the 9/11 Memorial we walked by the park where the Wall Street protesters were so active. By that time the mayor had ousted them, but there were a few hanger on-ers there talking to curiosity seekers.

DanaMo said...

LOL! Kay you are good!
Here are the middle names
Andrew Lee (Monte's middle name as well)
Aric James (LOL! We just liked it)
Adam Morris (my FIL name, he died before Adam was born)
Annemarie Angelina (my maternal grandmothers name)

I'm Marie like every good Catholic girl LOL!

DanaMo said...

Actually different parishes have different ages for Confirmation. In our Catechism the age says "the age of reason". Which is up for debate. My parish has it in 10th grade.

Kay said...

DANAMO, thanks for the middle names, well chosen ! I have my memory work cut out for me now ! And, what about age for confirmation and the choosing of Saint names ?

DanaMo said...

Maybe the dogs need middle names too! LOL

Kay said...

Oops, I jumped the gun as you were answering my confirmation question. So AnneMarie has a couple of years to go. I'll look forward to the event !

DanaMo said...

Are you on FB Kay? Words with Friends is a good game for that mental workout. You play "scrabble" against someone else virtually if you will. I have just started a game with Paula who is quite good. It's fun and really makes my brain work.

DanaMo said...

Yes, personally I think she is ready and have told our priest, but the rule is the rule. I think it's silly because the other parish in town does it in 8th grade. Some are ready in 8th others not so much. Hard to know what's right, but I wish the Archdiocese would say it has to be one or the other!

DanaMo said...

Good morning Sandi!

DanaMo said...

Only today and tomorrow for me at school. The teachers in my class last night were very jealous!

Kay said...

No, I'm a FB hold out. I have played Scrabble on line with my dil and found it stressful. I go to Sporcle.com daily for a mental work out and do several crossword puzzles daily, including the NYTimes Sunday puzzles and acrostics. I'm tryin' to ward off dementia !

Lori O. said...

Good Morning, DanaMo! Now, you're adding the middle names? I'll never catch up! :)

Good link on Time Person of the Year, Kay.

Isn't that wild that the eagles were so active so LATE last night!?

Kay said...

Hi SANDI ! It's good to "see" you !

Hmmm, Word of the Year is "pragmatic"---how practical ☺ !

Lori O. said...

Good Thursday (almost Friday) morning, Sandi! Love your new blog. Beautiful home...and cute puppies!

Sandi said...

It's a good thing we have night owls and early birds in this group! Makes it harder for the eagles to pull one over on anybody! DM, so envious - only 2 more days! My kids aren't too hyper this week - next week will be bad! I didn't turn the cam off until late last night and could hear clunking off and on so I figured someone was up in the tree.

DanaMo said...

Yes Lori, for Kay to get her mental exercise ☺

Sandi said...

Thanks Lori. Making the blog was fun.

Kay said...

SANDI, thanks for the profile and pics ! Beautiful family, home and adorable dogs !

DanaMo said...

Yes Sandi loved the pics and the opportunity to get to know you! Adorable puppies ☺ Love Bella's tongue, it's endearing. Poor baby though.

Stopped on the way to work and put my Christmas cards in the mail!!! Presents are all wrapped...I'm diggin' it! I've always wanted to have it all done early so I could kick back and really enjoy that time close to Christmas.

Kay said...

Good on you, LORI. All done 10 days ahead of time ! Now you can relax and enjoy the holidays to the fullest !

DanaMo said...

oh man, just had to clean up throw up! Java has apparently been eating the foam in their bed. Three piles of it in Annemarie's room. I knew she was acting funny last night, acting like she was going to throw up, but I never expected that! I can't believe how much she ate. I hope she got it all out. Very strange, not sure why she did that.

Kay said...

DANAMO, are you sure your Labs don't have a little dab of goat dna ? They get into and eat some very strange things--foam rubber, money, whole pizzas from the counter top, socks/clothing ???? Wow !

DanaMo said...

I know Kay. It's always weird stuff. Yet they don't destroy furniture or even the Christmas tree, I don't get them. Usually it's Boomer so he is looking at me like, really, sissy? LOL!

Kay said...

Malcolm was so cute yesterday. As soon as he was in the door he made a beeline for his toy basket. He grabbed a toy we stuff with peanut butter and stood at the pantry door with it ! They have no nuts or nutty products in their home due to Hugh's extreme allergy to them, so he knows where to get his fix !!
