Hoda, we open presents on Christmas day...when I was younger we used to open just 1 on Christmas eve...then 2...then we just did the whole thing on Christmas eve as we got older.

But I do Christmas day with the kids, as that is when I generally see them at Christmas time.

Well, I'm running out of steam. Making sure the porch light is on. Making sure both security systems are working. (Don't remember who enabled them, but thank you!) Sleep snugly, everyone. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!
:o]
P.S.--Happy Christmas Eve!!!

Kay said...

Hmmm, ANDY ran out of steam a little less than 2 hours ago and I'm just picking up steam here in Ohio !

PAULA, congrats to your Michael ! You are justifiably proud. The cookies sound good enough to eat !!!

CAROLANNE, you are indeed talented and I know we all appreciate your tribute to our beloved Hedgie !

LYNN, I, too, love those paper bags with handles--so nice to use to tote things to Julie's, etc.. I get them at Trader Joes and a local gourmet grocer.

HODA, so sorry that dear young mother ran into a sicko in Vancouver. A jarring experience.:( I'm saving the story you posted for a time when I want to kick back n' have a good listen !

LOLLY, had to smile over Joseph coming home with you. Grandkids are sooooo much fun !

MARGY, you'll get it all done and in time, I'm sure. I always love reading your posts. You couldn't be any sweeter if you tried !

Can't wait to see your Charlie Brown tree, LORETTA. Like CAROLANNE points out in her Hedgie Book, you took lemons and made lemonade. What creative people we have here !

CAROLANNE, your twist on Potato Cookies was another sign of your creative mind. Great idea ! I can't believe you once said you didn't feel you had much to share, contribute here. So glad you are with us !

DanaMo said...

Good morning. Just stopping by for a quick coffee to go...

I haven't been feeling well the last couple of days so I haven't really been on. I've caught a glimpse or two of our pair, but haven't chatted, sorry.
I'm feeling a little human today and I'm getting ready to head out to the mall. My mom wanted to go at 6:00 am and it isn't even for Christmas shopping! LOL! Happy Christmas Eve day everyone. I hope I have a chance to catch up later. ♥

Kay said...

DANAMO, the things we do for love ! How nice of you to take your mom to the mall this morning, even though your not feelin' so good. Something you picked up in The Big Apple ?? Glad I got our CC open and the coffee on, in time for you ! ;o)

Sandi said...

Morning! Looks like DMo and Kay on this AM. Wonder if Lori is sleeping in at her folks? Sounds windy at the nest already!!

Kay said...

Sounds like the wind is blowing hard at the nest again this morning. Lights just flashed across the nest so someone, maybe Security, is up and at em' there. That wind often seems to die down at sun up, I think.

Kay said...

Hi, SANDI ! I believe you might be right about LORI. No dogs or cats to care for and the chance to sleep in, I'm all for that !

Kay said...

SANDI, did you find any use for your Vodka while cleaning yesterday ? I'm soaking my bath and kitchen fixtures in it right now. A couple of whisks with an old toothbrush in about an hour and they'll be gleaming.

Do you hear a little clunking ? Belle and Shep must spend the night above the nest and very near the cam.

Once yesterday afternoon late I heard the distinct sound of an eagle cleaning it's beak, possibly on the cam box ! Wish we also had a cam positioned on that nearby barn for a wide span view. I didn't get the request in to Santa in a timely manner.

Kay said...

Just had to hit Play at the 14:54 mark and hope the cam now runs a long time for me. Yesterday it was very cranky !

Sandi said...

Have read back through last night. First and foremost, CarolAnne - the book you made for Lynn made me cry and I have only known you ladies for a month! I can only imagine how special and meaningful it is to Lynn! What a wonderful, creative gift!!
Kay, maybe you can fill me in about the night light and the security system that I read about most nights that the late night folks "set."
And, Merry Christmas Eve - God bless us every one (Dennis had The Christmas Carol on TV last night as I was heading up to bed)!

Kay said...

SANDI, the night lights and security systems are Virtual only. Someone will tell us later who started the tradition after someone of us fell while groping around in the dark. The night light is set by someone in the East or Midwest in the late evening and then we usually rely on ANDY in CA to set the Security System when she calls it a day. We Early Birds, thanks to LORI's inventive mind, have this Cyber Cafe--same kind of fun !

Sandi said...

Kay, I spent so much time running around yesterday (new meds for Bella, borrowing a crate for Bella, carrying Bella up and down the stairs to go outside, to the store for baking soda I thought I had but didn't) that I never got to cleaning the upstairs. That's now on today's agenda, since we won't leave for Balto. until this afternoon.

Sandi said...

I am hearing a noise (aside from the wind) right now. I have always assumed that it's a cable to/from the cam that is rattling and hitting against the cam/speaker housing as opposed to an eagle in the tree. My mouse is acting very funny - maybe I need new batteries.

magpie said...

Good Christmas Eve Morning, Eagle Pals.. ☺

Yes, windy at the nest...well, breezy I guess....

Good to "See You" here Sandi and Kay....and DanaMo,(already on the run..)
I'm sure more will be moseying on pretty soon

magpie said...

And let's hope that "More" includes Belle and Shep !

Sandi said...

Morning Margy. Are you working today?

Kay said...

You could be right about those noises. I've wondered if there are little limbs that brush against it in the wind. However, the serious clunking seems to precede an an eagle appearance and stop when they aren't in the tree ???

magpie said...

gifts wrapped, trying to pack for an overnight if I stay in Shepherdstown tonight with James and the family there....I'm NOT a good picker up and packing kind of person

But I have to work first, and wait to hear from the fellas

magpie said...

Remember at Midnight...
Go outside and listen for the animals celebrating Christmas..... ☺

Sandi said...

Kay, I agree that it's easy to distinguish between the clunking of an eagle that lands in the tree near the cam and this other noise. Getting light at the nest! Maybe a visit soon!

Kay said...

Hi, MARGY, I wondered if you were here as the map on the opening page shows me here in Ohio and you in WV. It doesn't show SANDI's DE location ??? I was looking to see if JUDY is lurking, but apparently it can't be relied on to show everybody ????

Sandi said...

Margy, I had never heard that about midnight and the animals! All I ever hear around midnight is Dennis snoring on one side of me and bella and Bandit on the other! =)

magpie said...

Yes Sandi...this is my "Friday" - then off two, work one, and I got Wednesday and Thursday off, leave slip just approved yesterday ☺

maybe on those days I can catch up the blog posts and find out what
I've been missing ~

Happy Traveling to you for later...you'll be pretty close to some of "us'ns" here while in Baltimore

JudyEddy said...

G☺☺D M☼rning eagle buds I just got up

Kay said...

MARGY, I hope the Kidster and his dad call with a "Come on a my house, house a come on" for you ! You haven't said much about Pringles lately. Has he/she settled in nicely ?

Kay said...

Aha, JUDY, I was looking for you ! Hoping you'd be here for a good visit with our regal eagles so we can have some good pics/video ! Did Jordyn spend the night with you ?

Kay said...

MARGY, that should have been, "come on a my house, my house a come on"♫♪

Sandi said...

Kay, what map??

magpie said...

I see what you mean Kay....Sandi must be slipping "under the radar"

but sometimes it shows me posting from Rochester New York! So maybe Sandi is hitting form Seminole Florida !

But WE know you're here Sandi....
(we are looking at the site metre and revolving globe...for your info Sandi)

I don't know the legend of the animals at midnight right now, but I guarantee someone will and will post it !

Kay said...

It's good to hear you're taking some extra time off next week, MARGY ! Are you planning a little visit with one of the sibs ?

Sandi said...

Kay, Went back to the home page and found the map. Frankford, DE would be me. Not sure why Bethany doesn't show up but Frankford is a much bigger post office near here.

Sandi said...

Oops, forgot! Morning Judy!

magpie said...

On the cam page before you hit the Comments link to get here, down to the lower right, (scroll down) there is a revolving globe and it shows where posts are emanating from...
there's more to the explanation, but I'm playing Beat the Clock this morning...and the Clock is winning !!

Hi Judy !!

Kay, Pringles, a fella...is doing okay, not sure if he will go to Shepherdstown with us or not....
but there is other family close to where James lives who will care for him when he is away...

JudyEddy said...

Jordyn was here till Angie kidnapped her about 12 I was awake but in bed when she came to get her Odd I can't sleep well when she is here

Kay said...

No, JUDY is Seminole and she's checked in, as you can see.

SANDI, look on opening page, under the area where you click the cam on. There is a globe which is supposed to show the location of anyone taking a look at the blog. Sometimes one flag and location will cover others making it hard to read, but you'll see what I mean.

magpie said...

I'll be far away from computer access when in Shepherdstown....
but I can check in from work today....

right now have to zip off some email addresses so I can send some family emails out from there....

Kay - not sure what I'll be doing next week ...but not going to work is a good first start !
OK Sandi, glad to see you Hit the Map !

ttfn...back before work time

HERE EAGLES EAGLES EAGLES...YOUR FANS ARE WAITING !!

Sandi said...

BEAKING! SURE HOPE THEY DON'T BLOW AWAY ON THIS WINDY MORNING!

Kay said...

Now the map shows you, SANDI and I see Milwaukee, so maybe CAROLANNE is close by ? I also see MARGY, but not JUDY. Can't figure out why it doesn't show everybody to each of us.

Sandi said...

JUST LOOKING AROUND LIKE, "LIFE IS GOOD!" I THINK THEY AGREE WITH MARGY!

JudyEddy said...

poof one

Sandi said...

POOF BELLE?

JudyEddy said...

I love hearing the wing flap in the cam

JudyEddy said...

poof two

Kay said...

And, there was some light clunking while they were both in the nest, so there is definitely some line or limb contributing to that phenomenon.

Sandi said...

POOF 2

Kay said...

Too short, Eagles, please return soon !

JudyEddy said...

odd they usually don't leave right away in the morning I hope they come back Gonna go start reading LM

magpie said...

Good morning my friends.

T-Bird said...

As I was letting the dogs in I noticed we had a little dusting of snow.

T-Bird said...

It is not suppose to snow for Christmas. The weather man said it will be in the high 40s and 50s, much warmer than this time of the season.

JudyEddy said...

I wonder if we are going to get a Christmas Eve thread I am going to be missing the sunset eagle visit being I work to 530 now but look forward to reading you all post of it I may not be home for lunch Don't want to give up my parking spot at work This time of year there are no spots left some people park on the curbs and other establishments and walkover and I don't want to walk from another lot to the store so may not be home for lunch Did everyone fly the coupe or are we LMing I bet the later

Sandi said...

Judy, bet your work day will be crazy! Couldn't pay me enough to go to a Walmart today. I'll miss the afternoon/evening visit as well b/c we'll be on the road to baltimore. Sun is hitting the nest - looks very pretty (would look prettier w/ an eagle or 2 in it). HAGD!!

JudyEddy said...

Looks like the weather at the nest is calmer now

JudyEddy said...

T-Bird said...

Have you all seen the advertisement for a gun on the Outdoor Channel. I'm clueless when it comes to guns but it would seem like that one would only be used by law enforcement.

Sandi said...

Thelma, Have never noticed the gun ad. I'm bothered by the "tweets" on the right side, since the last one is from March and says the eaglet didn't make it. I wish the tweets would disappear!

My day is up and running. Papers read, bathroom scrubbed. Eating some cinnamon rolls so I can take my pills....Day 4.

Need to get the good china out of the china closet next and MT the dishwasher. Woman's work is never done!!

And Liesl got into the creche straw while I was cleaning the BR---pulled a long piece out and chewed ii up under the kitchen table! ARGH!

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING...
I need to go back and find Carol-Anne's book, must be wonderful with all the accolades.
Yes, I too am glad she has joined our group!

The Animals at Midnight legend is sweet:
When Jesus was born, the animals in the stable were watching this great event. It is said that Jesus was born at exactly midnight and at that moment, God gave them the ability to speak...they then praised God for the miracle they had just seen. When the Shepherds came into the stable to see the Christ Child, the animals stopped speaking. The only humans to hear the animals speak were, Mary, Joseph and the baby.
This legand started in the mountains of Norway and children are said to go to the stables at midnight to see if the animals really do speak...at midnight on Christmas Eve.

Sandi said...

Lynn, Yes, the dogs go with. Will be taking the crate to keep Bella in. We'll go to my sister's tomorrow and she has a lab mix puppy who thinks Bella is a play toy. Can't have Bella being swatted around with her back injury (she's no better but also no worse).

magpie said...

Wanda:

I am so glad everyone has the chance to see Lynn's book. It was my way to let her know how much I admire how she is handling the situation. I for one, am not sure I could do as well. (I picture myself curled up in a darkened bedroom).

Wishing the best to everyone and safe travels for those on the road.

Sandi said...

Lynn, What's the significance of the hedgehogs in your book and your screen name? Is it b/c of where you live? Or are you fond of hedgehogs? We'll see Brian and Lynnis this evening at Denny's brother's house. Today is our niece, Meredith's birthday so we always spend Christmas Eve with the Roberts family b/c my SIL always has a birthday party for Meredith (she has never wanted her to feel cheated out of her birthday b/c she was born so close to Christmas).

magpie said...

that would be Mits OR Ceil...

Hi CarolAnne: you can see we are all ga-ga with the Book...there are few words to really describe it

Merry Christmas ♥

CarolAnne said...

I learned so much about eagles and the wonderful people that have touched this blog over the years when I read back from 2006 until now. It was hard to pick what to choose, it was all so interesting.

Wish I could do one for each and everyone of you to reflect how you've added to the blog and each others lives.

I think someday there will be one about THE MIRACLES OF MOMSTER PRAYERS. Highlighting all the wonderous results from prayers sent on high!

hedgie said...

Sandi, sorry that Bella is not any better. Hope your trip goes well.

Oh, C/A---we all do what we must. I know you would fight, too!!!

Margy, still lots I have not done---and won't get done. :(

Thanks, Wanda---always nice to hear the animals' story again!

With all the good food talked about on here, I can imagine an Eagle Blogger Recipe book too!

Which reminds me, off I must go to crush some gingersnaps and get my fake cakepops made.

I swear, this blog just makes for a warm, glowing feeling . . . or is that a hot flash. lol

Best to all you wonderful people!

Sandi said...

To piggyback on CarolAnne's comment about the power of Momster prayer... I would just like to say that one of the best gifts I will get this Christmas is becoming a part of this blog. I have NEVER seen a more phenomenal support group! The phrase I see repeated frequently is so true, "I came for the eagles, but stayed for the friendships!" I can tell that you are all very dear friends to one another, even though some of you have never even met! I feel blessed to be a part of this group!
