DANAMO, Aric's grades are good ! A full load of hard courses and adjustment to first few months of Frosh year. Yep, he's a winner !

The visits with Belle and Shep are kind of running together into a long continueum. I love it.

So sorry you've been queazy today, LYNN. Keeping busy with Christie is probably a good diversion, huh ?

SANDI, you are a bright girl and a fast learner ! I'm glad that despicable man got what was coming to him.

Time to think about some food, news, Jeopardy...May not be back, if I can really relax due to the easing up of pain, I'm going to go with it !

Prayers indeed for all in need !!!!

Evening, all!

The postal service was great today....brought 3 presents I had ordered....and 2 I had not! I can now eat some cookies and read my Birds n Blooms magazine....seems someone named "Eaglet Momsters" sent it to me....thank you!!

paula eagleholic said...

Congrats to Andrew and Aric on their grades! Ya'll should be proud!

I am very proud Paula, thanks! Kelsey also got all A's!

Oh Lynn, sorry about the sickness. Take the meds...I hope they help. (((Hugs)))

Lolly said...

Oh, Lynn!!!!! I am so sorry that you have been sick. Was so hoping you would not have this reaction to treatments. (((hugs)))

Lolly said...

Cornbread has baked, and the cinnamon rolls are rising. Made stew last night and we will have it again tonight so I do not have to cook dinner.

Hoda said...

Well and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. The town is already getting very busy and many out of towners are back for the holidays. There is good cheer and everyone is bundled for the weather yet still civil to one another.

DANAMO Congratulations on the grades report...with ARIC's exam schedule he did very well Fod Bless him.

LYNNI read about you not feeling well several times and I hope as your body has more exposure you will feel less sick...good you have the nausea medication. GOOD ON YOU for going on with the baking YOU ROCK GIRL!!!Take it easy and enjoy the wonderful festive aromas coming out of your kitchen.

The lice situation is amazing to me that it would be a non-excusable absence...The school administrators are fools!!!It is a health issue and I would take it on to the board...The kids with lice should be banned from attending school. In the seventies in Québec we had a similar situation and sent the ones with lice back home...parents came in to volunteer for head checks...we had it beat within a month.

Kids hanging around the mall while parents are shopping is not a good idea...thank you for providing a safe haven SHIRLEY and to KATHRYN for saying NO...PIZZA sounds like a very popular alternative to feeding them and having them feel good...

So exciting that BELLE and SHEP have made several visits today...I think I counted five??? Thanks for the reports.

Hoda said...

DANAMO That would be GOD BLESS not fod...

Congratulations are also in order for ANDREW and KELSEY...way to go SHARON they done well!!!

Lynne2 said...

evening all, just checking in briefly.

Lynn, so sorry you aren't feeling well. Prayers that it passes very, VERY soon.

Sandi, how is Bella?

Lolly said...

Lynne, how are you feeling? My cough is gone but still have to clean my throat. Jack is now sick. And, Laurel said Joseph is congested. More fun!

Hoda said...

Sorry JACK is not feeling well LOLLY...and DEAR JOSEPH, not good on his Christmas Holiday at that...May it all go away soon.

wvgal_dana said...

I know I read comments but the only thing I can think of right now is Lynn. Lord please let the nausea medication take effect so Lynn stops being sick please Dear Lord answer this prayer. In Thy Name I Ask Amen.

Lolly said...

Cold front coming in tonight.
Snow flurries possible
Saturday, but no white Christmas here.

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lynn, I hope you are able to get rid of the nausea problem quickly.

Lolly, I think I got your cold. I've been hacking and coughing today.

Kathryn is off to buy a new charger for her cell phone. She broke hers last night and bought a cheap one on the way home today, but, alas, it did not work.

Pouring rain. Not a good night to go out.

Lolly said...

Did you know that you can make a mixture of Cream of Tartar and Baking Soda to substiture for baking powder? I finished up my baking powder on the cornbread, but needed some for dumplings for the stew. We googled. You mix 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda. Use it equally to the amount of baking powder called for in the recipe.

magpie said...

Well, I am sure hoping Jeopardy is on at Lynn's Lair...that's a good diversion....But I am sorry for the nausea and feeling punies. Lynn (( Wellness Hugs ♥ )) and they are germ-free !....

afraid illness is about to go around here and there....we are seeing it at our workplace...

Kay - Yay - another good report from you!

Hello Eagle Pals... !! xoxo ♥

magpie said...

Guess who has not read most of the 220 posts on this thread...and quite a few from before today

but I have to jump in the shower before/in case work calls, because one called in sick for 4-12 shift...

Enjoy Your Evenings, Eagle Pals

Lynne2 said...

I'm fine Lolly, no trace of the headache all week. So sorry Jack and Joseph aren't feeling well now. UGH. Hope it gets better by the weekend.

stronghunter said...

Speaking of baking powder, when Kathryn was a newlywed, she called to ask me if it mattered if she left the baking powder out.

hedgie said...

LOL, Shirely---wouldn't matter at all if she didn't want her product to rise!!

Hello to all. THanks for concerns. Afraid to eat.....all I've had is a single pop tart this morning. Need to decide on something in order to take next two pills. THe anti-nausea med is supposed to be for pre-radiation I took it as directed. I have also taken it again after the third episode. Time will tell.......

So many posts----I've skimmed through, Need to look at some links. Will do that but for now I am going to hit the sofa and watch Jeopardy (recorded). Christie is gone, all mess cleaned up. She did 99% of the work. I mostly just advised and supervised.

KAY-----SO very glad the injection is helping already!! Just don't be discouraged it if feels worse tonight anfd tomorrow. The anesthetic wears off....and the cortisone takes a day or so to stat taking effect.

Did NOT cross paths with Wanda. THry had already hustled her into an exam room. I did get a brace to wear, and it is helping. I'll see him again in Feb. and get the MRI scheduled.

BBL.

Hoda said...

Thanks LYNN for the update...have I told you I think you have GREAT daughters and I think you are a TERRIFIC MOM.

Eating to keep up your energy sounds like a good idea..Thanks for clarifying about then anti nausea medication...in today's experience it seems to not have worked...Eating also to be able to take the other medication seems important...is it two chemo tablets in the morning and two in the evening?
What are foods that you can eat that would appeal to you tonight? Any ideas?
I am glad you got Jeopardy recorded...

Sandi said...

Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling nauseous from the treatments. I'm sending prayers and positive energy your way!

Lynne, Bella is no better. When she tries to walk (which is very little), her back is humped up like a ferret or an angry cat! I'm trying hard to be patient and give the meds a chance to work but she seems so pathetic. She IS eating. I'm off tomorrow and if she doesn't seem better, I'll call the vet.

Lolly said...

Lynn, I so hope you can think of something to eat that is appealing and you can keep down. You have to keep up your strength!

Lolly said...

Substitute for baking powder worked just great....dumplings were fine.

Good evening.

Shirley, video game stores in malls are prime locations for child molesters who target unattended children. Caution is highly recommended.

The night light is set to turn on at 11:00pm. Restful sleep for all. Prayers for those in need.

Costume Lady said...

LYNN, we saw your vehicle in the parking lot, but, apparently you were already in one of the exam rooms. I looked for you in each one that had an open door, as I was lead to my exam room. Don't know how we missed each other! I so wanted to just give you a (((HUG))).
I can sympathize with you on the nausea front...GG had quite a bit when she had her radiation treaments. Dr. Bowers gave her COMPAZINE and it seemed to work very well. She is now taking PROMETHAZINE for her episodes of nausea, she says they work very well for her.
She ate crackers, toast, chicken noodle soup, tomato soup and lots of baby food.
I wish so much that I could do something for you♥

Costume Lady said...

JUDIE...a big "HELL YAH" on those video game stores...predators are like roaches in any place where young 'uns hang out. A big No-NO, Shirley. Always listen to your instincts...you have good ones:)

I don't leave him alone....except when we are in different sections of Goodwill...I'd accompany him into the restrooms if I could.

Costume Lady said...

LMBO, Margy...Jayden does kiss himself in the mirror:)
That is Nevaeh, his cousin, that he is kissing.

MARGY, check out the short video on my JUST FOR FUN blog. Video of Jayden getting his emergency vehicles that you gave him. He loved them.

Lynne2 said...

I've got to run....

Sandi, I' m so sorry Bella is no better. I'm glad you are home now to take of her! I'll pray she feels better soon.

Lynn, prayers for you, too!

While we are at it, Brother Cat could use some prayers. He is not doing well. He has been failing for the past week. He is not able to keep food down, even with medication. we are what we can but I am very worried. His bloodwork is perfectly normal. He'll go back to work with me in the AM and I think he'll be staying there while we are at my MILs. I simply can't leave him here if he cannot eat.

Anyway....

Love you guys, miss you too! I'll try to check in from work tomorrow!

Costume Lady said...

Gene and I went to Hagerstown this afternoon and I managed to shop 3, yes 3 stores! I got ALL Christmas shopping done. Jayden, GG and Gene. He went elsewhere while I got his presents, but wasn't too far away, incase I needed him.
Went to dinner and I must surely have gained back the 8 pounds that I lost:( Oh well, I was celebrating my good day!

Sandi said...

CarolAnne, Thx for the back brace link; I'll talk to the vet about whether something like that would help. If so, I'll see if the local pet store sells something that I could get right away rather than ordering online and waiting. I'm off to the bathtub and then bed - once I got the phone call at 5:30am that we had a 2-hour delay, I never went back to sleep. Goodnight all!

Hoda said...

It sounds like a very good day WANDA...good on you...sorry you and LYNN missed each other but so cool that you were both looking for the other...the warmth of friendship is great...

Costume Lady said...

Oh my, we have so many illnesses with our pets. Makes me sad to see a sick animal.
Someone has dropped off an old grey and white cat that can hardly walk...what am I to do with all of these drop-offs. Animal Warden charges $45 to come and get them.

Black Mama cat has finally brought her two black kittens to the back of the house. The run so fast when I take food out, that it just looks like a black streak going by:)

I should have run out of baking powder when I made some ricotta cheese cookies last week. The recipe calls for 2 Tablespoons (recipe makes 6 dozen) and some of the cookies taste of the baking powder. I guess I didn't mix them well enough or something. Can baking powder go bad? It was right at the expiration date.

I would think baking powder might be something you would want to dispose of when it is out of date, but I think they usually allow some time on those expiration dates.

Judie, and anyone else: The boys are safely at our house.
the child's parents said that he is not used to staying at other people's houses. Kathryn thought the father sounded a little worried about leaving him here.

I think he is a bit immature and uncomfortable in certain social situations, but he did not hesitate to carry on a conversation at dinner. However, he would not eat anything. I had two kinds of pizza and chicken tenders. He said he had already eaten a lot of junk food, and Hunter confirmed that this was true.

He has a cell phone so he can call his parents if necessary, but they sound like they are having a good time. I hear lots of conversation.

Speaking of our family and their grades...may I tell you how proud I am of Rachael (Jayden's Mom). She has finished her schooling at Lord Fairfax in Winchester, with all A's and a 4.0 in Business Management. Raising Jayden and half way through her pregnancy with another boy, is outstanding, I think:)

stronghunter said...

Poor George has diarrhea and has been vomiting all day. I have a vet appointment for him tomorrow morning.

stronghunter said...

Congratulations to Rachael, Wanda! That is an accomplishment. I have been encouraging Kathryn to go back to school. She wants to get through the divorce mess first.

Costume Lady said...

...And granddaughter, Jillian is now Rescue Captain:)
One day last week, Karla, Jillian and Dustin, all 3 went on an emergency call. They took Dustin because they needed extra man-power. The patient was apparently very big~
All 3 of them love what they do.

stronghunter said...

Quite a few of my Culpeper students went on to Lord Fairfax.

Costume Lady said...

Thanks Shirley. I am as proud of Rachael as if she were a BLOOD granddaughter!

Costume Lady said...

How old is George, Shirley? Maybe a change in his diet might help?

stronghunter said...

George is on a prescription diet. He has problems with his intestines. That's one reason we have to keep him out of the dog food.

stronghunter said...

Hunter's friend has been picked up by an older brother, so we will be retiring now. I need to take some cold medicine. Getting congested.

Poor Kathryn was awakened by her cat trying to get to the catnip balls and then by a stinkbug in her armpit last night. She is ready for sleep.

I am only on call for the last half of this evening, we didn't replace the one person who called off sick for 4-12, another supervisor and I split the evening "on call"...I'm close to the office and it's easy for me to cut and run
For the week-end...I work Fri and Sat 8-4, then am off until Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., it's likely I'll join up with James and his father Saturday night at the "Other Maternal Grandmother's" place in Shepherdstown and wait for Santa to find us there ☺

Wanda, Yippeee! Your knee surgery is just around the corner then if it's after New Years. I know you are super excited!

Shirley, I hope George is feeling better. Dalai has had the same thing off and on all week, AGAiN! We're on Metronidazole, Pepcid shots and chicken and rice.

Prayers for Sandi's BELLA & Lynne's BROTHER CAT, too. Geez, we do have some animal goings on in the sickness dept.

Lynne, have a great time in Terra Alta. Sorry you must leave BC at work, but you're lucky to have a place you trust. Poor kitty.

JUDIE, you checked in and I'm wondering HOW IS DARTH? Glad they're doing testing. I'm sure you are worn out! Big hug, lovely lady!

LOLLY, I had to laugh and your JIFFY mix response to JudyE. I can remember that in the cupboards growing up, as well as for the JiFFY blueberry pancakes! Horrors! The blueberries were little balls of something but NOT berries!

Getting ready to head to Mom and Dad's today. I think I will take my laptop with me, or the IPad so I can check in. HoHoHo!

Very Early Bird regulars are,LORI, JUDY, MARGY, DANAMO, SANDI and me..with SHIRLEY and the Southern Delegation often chimeing in before 9 a.m.. Hope I didn't miss anyone and hope you're all planning on the April event !!!!!

Kay said...

Sounds like it's very windy at the nest.

Sandi said...

Jo, got a Christmas card in the mail from you yesterday! Thanks so much for including me!
DMo, first semester of freshmen year living away from home is a huge adjustment! Aric's grades were great!
Lynne, Hope Brother Cat feels better. Where is Terra Alta?
Shirley, Good luck with George at the vet.
Judy & Margy, No time is a good time to lose someone we love but Christmastime has to be the worst.
Kay, So glad to read that the pain in your hip is so much better already!
Lori, I'm heading home tomorrow. Will the dogs travel with you to your folks? Don't you have cats too? Who watches them?
Lynn, hoping and praying that you are feeling better today. This group of people seem to have an amazing connection with God and prayer is SO powerful! We're all praying for you that your body adjusts to the chemo quickly!

I emailed my mom last night to mark 4/21 on her calendar. Said we were taking a road trip to Shepherdstown and that I would fill her in when I see her on Sunday. I'm excited already - probably more excited to get to meet my new friends, but also excited to get to see the nest and the eagles in person!

Kay said...

SANDI, do you take the dogs with you to Baltimore ? Has your mother's Christmas present been installed yet ? Nosey, aren't I ?

Lori O. said...

I'm getting excited about April, too. JudyE, it would be great if you could fly in for a quick trip! You're more than welcome to stay with me! Save money on hotel!

Sandi, I have someone come in and STAY to take care of all the critters. Someone popping in twice a day isn't enough love! Kate will be here, but if she decides to go somewhere, then she has someone lined up.

Lori O. said...

Gosh, the wind is RIPPIN' at the nest!

Lori O. said...

Ooooppps...trying to get ready and forgot to put the weather up...BBIAM

Sandi said...

Yes, the dogs go with; we have never boarded them. The security system and medic alert system are wrapped and won't be installed until Monday. We purchased a do-it-yourself install system so my husband can install it himself. That way I could keep it a surprise for Mom. My brother in Missouri sent me a check to cover 4 months of the monitoring so the gift will be from my husband and I and from my brother and his wife. That will make my mom especially happy! I was surprised that my brother stepped up; he's such a cheapskate!

Kay said...

Hmmm, sunrise at 7:29 ? Looks good n' ☼ there right now.

Kay said...

Last night someone, JUDY maybe, asked how to do italics. Just put an i between the arrows rather than b as we do for bold.

Red said...

Good morning eagle friends. It's Christmas eve eve. lol Hope everyone has a good day. Lots of nest activity yesterday. Just hope Belle and Shep don't start a family too early. Still have a hard winter ahead.

T-Bird said...

Good Christmas eve, eve to my eagle peeps.

Lori O. said...

Good Morning RED! Wanna be an Early Bird? So, nice to have you with us this morning.

Kay said...

Hi RED ! We'll put you in the Early Bird count, too ! Any chance you and Diane can make it in April ? Eagles seem to be able to cope with all kinds of weather, but like you, I hope Belle and Shep wait a while. He doesn't have any fathering experience it seems.

Lori O. said...

Thelma, I think you're a day early... but, Greatest Morning to you!

Lori O. said...

OOOOpps, I see, eve - eve. I need to concentrate on getting ready to leave. Sorry!

Kay said...

Wahoo, THELMA is here bright and early, too ! Come on birdies, you have a very appreciative audience waiting ? Everybody, stamp your feed and holler Eagles, Eagles.....

Sandi said...

Morning Thelma and Red! Kay, Judy was trying to explain to me how to do italics. Paula had sent me an email earlier explaining how to do hyperlinks.

Kay said...

RED and THELMA know their Eve Eves !

Kay said...

Ah, so, SANDI. I'm such a careful reader, aren't I ? Duh !

Sandi said...

Kay, Can't stamp my feet and holler or I'll wake Dennis and he'll think I've gone completely over the edge (he can't believe that I get up at 6am to watch eagles on the computer screen and chat with people online). But I DID whisper it!

Kay said...

It is a little crazy, SANDI, but it's a lot of fun and I think the company is mighty good !

T-Bird said...

Sandi, I remember when Sharon was introduced to the blog and the Belle and Liberty. We (the family) thought she was crazy. Just like your Hubby. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Whoo hoo sun is starting to shine on the nest...and here too.

JudyEddy said...

Angie just called I guess Jordyn is being a little stubborn today 10 min to get her to get in the car so Angies says she can't go anywhere to day as punishment So I may be able to see the nest all day

JudyEddy said...

WOW I can hear the gust of winds at the nest Lori put on blog Is the rain over for the day and just gonna be windy????

Sandi said...

OK, I've got to get moving. I have errands to run, the vet to call, cookies to bake, bathrooms to clean - I have my bottle of vodka in with the cleaning supplies! Should probably do the errands before cleaning the bathrooms in case I decide to use the vodka for drinking rather than cleaning - wouldn't want a DUI on Christmas Eve Eve!! ;D HAGD! BBL!

JudyEddy said...

Right now it is OK here goes 67° Hi today 81°

JudyEddy said...

Cute Sandi

hedgie said...

Good Fri. AM to all. It is the Eve eve.....but for this year, it is the Eve! ARGH---SKins play tomorrow afternoon. I never allow TV on during our Chritsmas celebration.....hope Ahannon doesn't get too upset. I'll record it to watch after the kids all leave.

Slept well, on the sofa. Toast stayed down! Nearly time to try again...but think I'll cheat and eat a cinnamon roll----shhhh!!!! Don't tell I'm digging in early!

I used to make homemade corn bread, too, Lolly, but with only me, I found my cornmeal going bad too fast, so Juffy fits the bill "good enough."

T-Bird said...

Thanks for reminding me about the game Lynn.

T-Bird said...

I'm not a very good fan. I had forgotten. If I would have missed it I would have been so upset.
How are you feeling this morning? (((hugs)))

T-Bird said...

Never mind Lynn. I see your report now.

T-Bird said...

Love and hugs out to all my eagle momsters and dadsters.

T-Bird said...

Morning Paula.
The Southern Delegation has no sunshine yet this morning. : ) You are so right, it looks great.
