Linda Cochran Salsberry Thanks, Hoda! I miss you and the others, too. I hope to be back tonight. Between being sick, having one of our sons in town and another funeral of a friend's mother, it has been a very busy week.

Jo, so happy the Bragg Brigade returned home safely. Now is your time to relax, reflect, and enjoy the wonderful extended family you have.

DanaMo, have you departed Dayton?

Hope the Linda comment means Linda is feeling better.

Too much to read back. Had a busy day. Dentist for cleaning teeth so I can dazzle the students next week.

Need to check out Hoda's brown hat. JudyE, watch hoarders. It's now a favorite of mine.

BBL

Judie said...

Oops, Hoda. Cannot see your brown hat. Don't use Facebook. I'm sure you are absolutely adorable.

DanaMo said...

Nope still in Dayton. Went to Cincinnati today with my hubby while he called on Kroger. We ate at a restaurant on the Kentucky side of the Ohio river. Then came back to Dayton. We will be here today and tomorrow. Then we drive to Indy for more business with Kroger, then Friday we start heading back east. Aric doesn't arrive until 11:30 pm tomorrow night and I want to spend a couple of hours with him Wednesday night after his day of classes.

Hoda said...

Oh JUDIE does it mean you have to be on FB to see the picture???So sad and SORRY everyone. It is why I copied to bring it here so we could avoid the FB issue...

Hi,

I spent time this morning talking to Social Security and the insurance people. I understand the doughnut hole better now.

I will not have to pay the 900-some dollars for my medication, but I will have to pay about $250.00 for a month's supply when I get the prescription filled.

BUT the premium for the HMO at the school system is much more than that.

Mema Jo said...

Going to watch TV program

BBILW

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY I respect and admire very much that when there is something that is a source of confusioin you go after it and find answers and options...I just wanted to let you know how I felt about your post on the doughnut hole conversations today.

wvgal_dana said...

Heading for some tv.....NICE HAT HODA ( :

wvgal_dana said...

I'm just saying prayers for anyone that has a need and safe travels. lol

stronghunter said...

I appreciate your concerns, Hoda. I was very confused about the doughnut hole when I first started on Medicare. I got a good explanation today. I just had to make sense of it all. It is truly complicated.

stronghunter said...

Judie, you can see Hoda's video. It is on You Tube. Just go to her blog. The link is there. Click on "More Dragon Boat Practice."

It shows a nice view of what it looks like on the shores of the lake where she lives in addition to the dragon boat group doing their thing.

DanaMo said...

Wow the color is already off. It doesn't seem that late.

stronghunter said...

Will came today and mowed the grass. The yard was badly in need of attention.

Tomorrow I need to take Hunter and get him some new shoes. He has outgrown his old sneakers, and, really, new shoes are kind of a necessity for the first days of school.

Lynne2 said...

Evening all...no chance of me ever catching up!

Just want to say that prayers are going up for our momsters in FLA, GA, SC, NC, and upwards. Irene has intensified more than expected as of the 8:15 special update. Our local forecast is also warning of potentially heavy rainfall here on Sunday. Paula, Jo, Mits...keep a close watch....

Lynne2 said...

There is really nothing in the weather to push it away or decrease the intensity. It's expected to become a Cat 3.

Lynne2 said...

SO, JudyE, Suz, Candy....stay safe!!!

Lynne2 said...

LOL....PEGGY commercial is on!!!

Hoda said...

LYNN I spent time thinking about your question, could Olivia Chow, Jack Layton's widow move into the leadership position for the NDP? I do not think so. She has always been a supporter to that position as opposed to one who aspired that position. She is an Asian Canadian and the issue confronting the party right now is going to have to be French / English relations. They became the opposition party because they won an incredible number of seats in Québec.Whoever steps up to the position has to be able to speak to those seats. The French/ English controversy will play a major role in who is to become leader I am sure.

hedgie said...

CRC

hedgie said...

Hoda, you can right click on the pic and choose Save and then put it on your blog!! Nice pic!!! Like the hat! Looks like a bush hat!

Hoda said...

Thanks LYNN for the suggestion. I saved the picture of me during my BC SENIORS GAMES VOLUNTEER on my blog. I am the one in the brown hat...LOL!!!

Hoda said...

LYNN thanks for the CRC link. I continue to be astounded as to how many eagles are hurt or become emaciated. It is a wonder that the species is surviving as well as it is. I am sure there are many more we do not hear about. Thank heavens for the rehab centres.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Lynne for the weather warning
especially will be watching NC for the
Bragg Bunch.
Shirley I agree that when school starts it is New Shoe time. I had taken the
girls to Stride Rite for new sneakers -
another set of grandparents were there
with gs and gd - The young girl looked
so disappointed in the style shoe they were buying for her - Hated it when she
watched my 'happy feet' girls in there
fancy sneakers!

Lolly said...

Talked with Laurel. They all had a good day. Boys were happy! And, Laurel said she had a bunch of sweet kids. Hope she keeps that opinion.

They went out to eat as she had a gift certificate from her team at her former school and Joseph had soccer practice afterwards. Tomorrow night she is having Lasagne that I prepared and froze for her last week. Trying to make her first week easier. They can eat it two nights as Joey is on his diet and not eating Lasagne.

Think I am heading to the shower. Time to get comfy!

Have a question...those of you on fb, did you see the pictures I shared of them today? First day of school pics. Laurel said she was going to change her settings and then I can not share her pics. Oh, I can share them but if you are not her friend you can not see them. As a teacher she wants to keep her fb pages secure.

Hoda said...

LOLLY I checked FB and I did not see any pictures of Laurel today. So her setting change must have worked. I was able to see other pictures in the past that you had reposted from her. Not today.

hedgie said...

Hoda, thanks for info about Mr. Layton's position and wife's unlikelihood. Yea---you did it with the pic!! Judie---now you can see it!

Lynne----when you said for Suz to be safe----did you mean Suzanne or SuzanNC? Suz is up 81 in Mont Alto PA! And Suzan is towards the center of NC, so don't think either of them will be in danger.
JudyE should be fine on the gulf....Bobbi, on the other hand, wuld be the most impacted if it should veer in to east coast of FL.

Judie said...

Dinner over and sandperson decided I needed a little nap time. Now the sandperson is insisting I get some actual sleep.

Hoda, I will check out your blog tomorrow to see if I can see you in your beauteous hat.

DanaMo, I'm happy you seem to be getting all the move in drama over with successfully. No doubt Aric will be eternally grateful. Move in for GWU is this coming weekend as is the dedication for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial only blocks away. I seriously feel sorry for the families moving their college students into dorms this weekend with limited parking, UHauls, tourists, etc. it will be a nightmare. Used to shop at a Kroger store when I lived outside Dayton.

The night light is on for anyone who needs to arise in the darkness and for anyone arriving late from the West coast. Restful sleep for all.

hedgie said...

Jo, Christie had to wear Stride Rite-type orthopedic shoes with "cookies" in them for her first 5 or 6 years---it was okay until she started school and then she was unhappy.

Jenn had a "GREAT" day at school---likes all of her teachers. Jess said it was okay, but now I find out that she's had a headache fr three days, and today she was nauseated, too. No relief with Advil and sleep---Charlie finally gave her OTC migraine med today....she SAYS she's wearing her glasses.....so will encourage Carolyn to get her to the Dr. tomorrow afternoon if not better.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, I did not see the first day of school pictures.

I had the same problem with pictures Susan took on her trip to Ecuador. She did something to reset her security so that people on my blog could see them.

Something I have done to use a picture my kids are happy to share is to do a screen grab with "print screen." I paste it on IrfanView. I then edit it on Picasa so I can crop out the things on the screen I don't want in the pic. Then they are my pictures and I can post them on my blog and Facebook page.

hedgie said...

Oh---forgot----Candy would be most in danger if the storm makes a direct impact on the Carolina coast---which is what the moost popular model is showing now.

Judie said...

Oh, need to say research bears are being collared, when possible, and adorned with ribbons. Bear season is here. Please send some momsters prayers that the research bears will be spared. Thank you.

hedgie said...

Yep, Lolly, see the pic, but can't enlarge it to REALLY see it... :(

New Thread! TY, Steve!
Had a loooong catch up TX conversation! Sherry is home, but SIL is in Brazil. She got a notice on Facebook that someone from an unknown city tried to access her acct. Suggestion was change passwords. She spent almost 2 hours changing passwords on ALL her accounts! She learned tonight that "intruder" was Jimmy! He couldn't get into his, so he tried hers!!!!She said he was laughing! Good thing he's far away!!

hedgie said...

Judie, thanks for update. Seems impossible that their season would start so early up there. Praying that they all will be safe......wish they could get the collar on Hope and Faith.....:(

stronghunter said...

I fully understand Laurel's need for extra security. Kids looked for my Facebook page. I heard about it when someone found it, but I don't think they could see any posts, just the picture of me in my red print jacket that I was using then.

You just want some parts of your life to be off limits to the school kids, even though there's nothing there to hide.

Lynne2 said...

Lynn, I was referring to NC Suz....I know she is further inland, but depending on where this storm goes, she could well be impacted with heavy rain.

Hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful day!

stronghunter said...

We just have to wait and see where this storm goes. I am concerned about Susan's friend in the Dominican Republic.

Lolly said...

Okay, guess she changed her settings. Drat! I saved the picture and reposted it, but it will not enlarge. It is a good picture, too.

Thanks for answering my question.

stronghunter said...

They are getting it tonight.

hedgie said...

Oh, Lowreeda, that is funny! Jimmy is a cyber criminal for hacking his wife!!

Wonder if Kay fell asleep or got lost on the old thread....??

Lolly said...

When I shared the picture this morning the only comments I got were from mutual friends. I then suspected Laurel had changed her settings. She had changed them so I could share some pic, but she told me she had to chang it back.
I can save and repost but for some reason it will not enlarge.

Just checked Heidi's FB page. She's the one in the Dominican Republic. Someone had asked if she is preparing for Irene. She said, "Not really. Wouldn't know how to prepare done here, anyway." Oh, that sounds like Heidi. I do hope she is okay.

stronghunter said...

Yes, I might volunteer in awhile. It will be a bit different from the times I volunteered when Rus and Kathryn were in elementary school. I had lots of connections to the other parents then. I am not in that group now. I know it would not be hard to make some connections, though. I probably would find other grandparents, even.

stronghunter said...

Hunter is having some concerns about going to a new school. He is so full of drama, though, that he is hard to read.

hedgie said...

Loretta, what's wrong with Spotty???

stronghunter said...

Hope Spotty is okay, Loretta.

hedgie said...

Wow, Shirley, I would say Heidi is not being very wise. :(

stronghunter said...

Heidi is young. Well, thirty. Not a kid. She went down there with her fiance.

magpie said...

Shirley
there are lots of things that I know you would be great with at volunteering

reading to the kids, and speaking of your career or hobbies

helping with parties, field trips..
I just completed the check-off list for James for volunteering at his school, just wish I could retire NOW and be more available

Sure hope Hunter's concerns will melt away when he gets settled into the new school, hope that other little pals will lend him a hand

Hello Eagle Pals !

magpie said...

Hope Jess gets better right away, Lynn

James's day went well, he is happy, found that another little pal who moved ahead when James had to repeat 4th grade, is repeating 5th grade so they are united once again ♥

hedgie said...

Shirley---I think you need to hold off on any decisions for at least this semester---except for being a "room mother" type Grandma. You need to acclimate to retirement and enjoy the benefits of it before you decide to do something else! JMHO!

magpie said...

...and listening to kids read was also on the list

Two years ago a lady came to James's school once a week, and talked mostly about birds !! ☺

magpie said...

I've made a lot of notes while reading

will catch up with some of that Tuesday morning !
I have sound at the live feed, but there ain't much to hear, volume is low and it cuts in and out
Would LOVE to see those eagles in the morning and will get up early to try to see that !

Heidi lived next door to us when the children were growing up. After we moved away, she sometimes showed up on my doorstep when she had gotten into an argument with her Dad. She would come in, check the refrigerator and tease me if I did not have her favorite foods.

Once at least, she even went upstairs and crawled into Susan's bed. Susan came home to find Heidi there.

Of course, I called her parents to report her whereabouts. I have a great fondness for her and her family. Her parents took care of us by providing a place for us to live when we were forced out of our house because of the divorce.

was in the transformers ina major power substation half a block away
computer went off and came back on,
lights were dim but not out
then it went out completely
came back on an hour later
Never experienced a Brownout before
Wondering...if it affected GG's, also not too far away from here

Heidi became a teacher and was at Hunter's school this past year. Kathryn called on her once to take Hunter home and keep him when he had a field trip that made him miss the bus to the sitter's.

She had to remind Hunter that he could not call Heidi by her first name at school. He confused some of her first graders when he did that.

CBC radio, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is doing an excellent job remembering Jack Layton. It is our NPR. It will be next Saturday afternoon.

stronghunter said...

GG didn't realize I was late getting to her house...so no fussing. She had to take me out on her porch and show me her water lily blooming in her tub water garden. Can't figure out why hers is blooming and mine is not. I planted them both the same day. Then, we went to her flower garden near her kitchen window and she dead-headed the flowers that needed it and some that DIDN'T need it:)
She said that she feel better than she has in years, but seems to fear that it won't last. I told her that if the pain comes back, the doctor will give her more injections. She said she could live with that
Red morning glories are blooming now (the ones that Lynne 2 grew so beautifully) Deer are starting to eat them, so, today, I put some soft plastic wire around the plant a few days ago and it is now growing

Words to Amazing Grace
By John Newton

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

This verse was not written by John Newton. It was added by the American Slaves:

When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.>

Good Morning Eagle family!

How wonderful to begin a new day with cameras on the eagle's nest! YEAH!

Just caught up on my reading here but didn't leave enough time for comments!

KAY, so glad you had a great time with your family. I did too. My mother retains her nickname of "100 mph Nancy only 5 weeks after her surgery! She is amazing.

LYNN, thanks for the heads up on the possibility of much weekend rain. I'll catch up when I get to work.

LYNNE2 - Did you get a new camera?
What kind was your old one?

HODA, thanks for being you and for the update from LINDA on FB. I've been worried that we haven't seen LINDA or DIANN.

I'll catch up when I can this morning. I'm soooo excited to have cams up again. Oh, sorry, MARGY for letting us know they were back!

Also excited to see all the Early Birds, JUDYE, DANAMO, MARGY, THELMA AND DIANN...AND KAY if she's up early, though doubtful after those few days spent with the entire family and all the fun!

Hold on Margy don't leave us LOL Don't you just love puters when they take on a life of their own

magpie said...

not sure Judy...
could just be a local problem... I double-checked all the connections and it seemed okay, maybe just double-jiggling the cable connections helped

Lori O. said...

Hi MARGY - important thing is you are on the blog! ♥

The bright red and light from the sun is coming through on the horizon now...Truder will head to the nest at first light such as this....hoping he will today.

magpie said...

Lori O. said...

WOOOOOooHOOOO, so great to have the cams back and the HOPE of seeing BELLE & TRUDER again!

JudyE that is your cue to do your cool beans happy dance!

JudyEddy said...

That is my favorite song in the world LORI

JudyEddy said...

Bruno Mars is one of my favorite artist

magpie said...

I have to have all the volume things turned up just to catch the sounds at the nest...
I'd settle for any kind of bird noises right now from there

Lori O. said...

"Grenade" is definitely a catchy tune. Better to happy dance to!

magpie said...

your being about 80 miles more East than us, Lori, gives you a little more headstart on the sunrise

GREAT to see you and Judy both this morning...
Eagles, or no Eagles ☺

JudyEddy said...

That CD of Bruno is good all the way arund I play it often

magpie said...

Lovely to see the words to Amazing Grace that Hoda posted, and the info on that last verse

Hoping that WANDA is sawing some big-time logs in advance of a busy day making spaghettz and all the other treats for Soup Kitchen

magpie said...

If those sycamore leaves start turning YELLOW before they get trimmed outta there, Kay will be especially happy !

magpie said...

It's cool clear and perfect fishing weather...
I'm just sayin'....

magpie said...

I do see the Bearded Man but his features seem to be fading :(

JudyEddy said...

I need to go after work and buy new tennis shoes for work I hate shopping all together but I need new shoes my little toe is telling me its time for new shoes Odd how old shoes will start hurting your feet after wearing them forever

JudyEddy said...

I use to go to Ellenton Outlet Mall in Brandenton to Nike and get them there buy one get one half off but I find that the local shoe stores usually have the same offer and don't have to drive as far

JudyEddy said...

OH LORI just said it was 64 out NICE it is 82 here I will trade you

JudyEddy said...

JudyEddy said...

Lori O. said...

Sorry, JUDY E, I love ya, but I'm keeping the 64 degrees. It is nice.

I'm glad you look for good shoes JUDY. No sense in hurting your back and getting achy joints over bargain shoes that end up costing you more. I think anyone over 50 will go for comfort over anything else in shoes!

JudyEddy said...

Well it time for me to head out the door HAGD

Lori O. said...

HAGD JudyE... we'll miss you!

Lori O. said...

OH MAGS, you're gone too... when you read this later, I hope you know I wish you a wonderful day with no stress, lots of sunshine and time to play in your garden!

Hearing Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald's "On My Own" in my head right now. Great song.

DanaMo said...

Wow from that fox hurricane it looks like it's going to hit NC dead on

Lori O. said...

THELMA, I hope your computer has gone its act together and you can check in soon. ♥

SHIRLEY are you lurking? Smiling that you're not the one going back to the classroom soon? You're probably sick of that question. I probably ask because I'm jealous I'm not retiring!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good morning my eagle budlets. It is a balmy 59° in Nature's Air Conditioned City this morning. I am freezing.

Lori O. said...

Ah SHARON, don't tell JUDYE how cool it is. It was 82 where she is in Florida this morning!

How are you, SHARON?

hedgie said...

Morning greetings!

Waiting for the plumber to arrive.

Just heard on news that RIchard Branson (Virgin Airways, etc.) lost his $70m+ island home to fire from a lightening strike when the hurricane passed through the region. Over 20 guests---including his 90 y.o. Mother--- all safe. Video footage was quite spectacular---tho' sad.

hedgie said...

Margy---thanks. I will borrow that book from you!
So glad you have a few extra days off!!! Anything special planned??

Lori O. said...

Yes, LYNN, and he owns the whole island! I read he rents it out for $54,500 a NIGHT!

T-Bird said...

Good morning eagle momsters and dadsters.

hedgie said...

Margy--I checked Amazon. Your niece's book isn't listed, even tho' two other authors have books with same title, but with a subtitle as well.

hedgie said...

No sound on cam.....again!

hedgie said...

LOL, Shar---we beat your temp---it was 52 when I got up at 7! Only up to 56 so far. I put on a sweater when I went out for the papers.

hedgie said...

JudyE---do what you want and need, BUT I advocate boycotting Nike after their stupidity with the Michael Vick garbage.

Lori O. said...

Time for me to get a move on!

Have a great day everyone. Enjoy the beautiful, cooler weather.

I hope LINDA and DIANN check in soon.

Hello to KAY, DANAWV, PAULA, SHIRLEY and LOLLY who will probably be checking in soon.

Bye, Lori--safe drive home, and get a good day's sleep!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Lori, I wasn't lurking earlier. Sorry. I did sleep in, then watched the weather channel to find out about the hurricane. It sounds like it might get the East Coast.

No response from Heidi in the Dominican Republic.

Hope everyone is well this morning.

stronghunter said...

Oh good grief. Out of coffee. I had about half a cup. Guess I will have some tea.

hedgie said...

Jim has arrived. Later, gators.

stronghunter said...

Heard from Heidi. I had said I was waiting to hear from her, so she started talking about her school. Obviously, she is okay and wasn't impacted about the storm to mention it. Also, she is working in a school.

stronghunter said...

impacted by the storm . . .

stronghunter said...

enough to mention it.

I'll catch you all later. (((hugs)))
