Thanks for the new thread STEVE You are spoiling us

Judie said...

Thank you, Steve. Have a nice weekend, please and thank you.

Lynn, Chesapeake Expressway? Been gone from that part of the world for 45 years. Interstate 66 was started but not completed. Now I feel really really ancient.

Andy, just too much fun because the excitement of finishing school just jumps right out from your last post. Hope hubby and children and grandchildren are just as excited.

JudyE, do wish Jordyn would improve more quickly. When does she return to the dr. for checkup?

JudyEddy said...

I see you made it Judie you called it and when I came over I didn't see a post thought you got lost LOL

JudyEddy said...

WOW just had a elec malfunction power went off and right back on heard a loud pop someone lost a transformer lucky my power came right on but I had typed a bunch and now don't remember what I was typing LOL OLD AHE

JudyEddy said...

LYNN The Dr didn't say anything about thrush when he looked in her mouth did a swab and it came back as STREP super fast he was surprised it was that fast with results said usually have to wait 5min but not with her He gave he a mixture of Maalox and Benadryl to swab her mouth with for numbing purposes only It doesn't seem to hurt her she eats no problem and doesn't complain about it at all She is the best kid when taking her meds and letting them swab her mouth such a trouper

I think everyone has flown the coupe so I will too being she is asleep I can get something done BBL

Linda said...

Thanks, Steve! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

LYNN - We were having all sorts of problems with our border collie, Riley, before we left. He was acting really strange at night as if night time was thunderstorm time. I was sleeping in a different room with him with the light on, the door closed, a fan on to mute out noise and the dark room shade down so he had no clue anything may even happen.

I thought he might be having vision problems. Anyway, we had to leave him with my SIL here, who ended up having to crate him at night in their finished basement where it was quiet. He even ripped the crate bed to shreds one night. Poor thing.

He came home exhausted and has been sleeping a lot. I wonder if he was awake for a week! They said he was okay in the daytime, but they wouldn't have know if he was nervous and carrying on at night. It was still better than taking him to the vet.

He's doing fine now that we are home and settled and even sleeping through the night again. Here is hoping that he doesn't go back to his strange habits of scratching in the bathtub at night, and just sitting there listening for the next sound.

If anything continues again, I will take him into the vet. He's 11 now and may have something going on that we have no idea about.

JudyE---Liesl is more herself but not 100% yet. She piddled in front of the kitchen sink last evening! :(
How is Jordyn's mouth???? Forgot to say that the antibiotic precipitates the thrush.....no fair! Cure for one thing causes another.....

hedgie said...

Judie---C.E. is a 16.5-mile-long limited access highway between the I-64/I-464 interchange and the North Carolina border.

JudyE--see that you did ssee my post on old thread....did the Dr. see her AFTER the stuff appeared in her mouth as opposed to just her throat? I have never seen strep in the mouth itself.

JudyEddy said...

I put a little video on face book of them doing her mouth last nite to show what a big girl she is The best kid in the world

JudyEddy said...

Ok I still haven't done anything but play on puter so it is time for me to bid a farwell

hedgie said...

Linda, poor Riley. It does sound like emotional issues (fear of the storms, seperation anxiety) but it could be something physical....maybe Lynne will chime in with her expertise. Hope it's all okay now. Liesl is still sleeping more than usual so I too suspect that she slept little for 4nights.

hedgie said...

Jordyn was a real trooper! Sweetheart, for sure.

JudyEddy said...

It was there when she went to him that is why Angie took here because of the spots inside her cheeks and her tongue I thought it was thrush and so did everyone else and he said no thrush is more a cottage cheese look and this was strep and she probably will be worse with it but so far they are going away and no rash yet either He just has the cold like symptoms runny nose and hacking gagging cough

JudyEddy said...

Have you noticed I;m still here I don't want to make a lot of noise let her sleep while she can I know that is just an excuse for me to sit here and type and play LOL

JudyEddy said...

oops that should have been took her not took here LOL

JudyEddy said...

No rain today at all everyone yards are still draining in to the road I hate to complain about how hot it is when poor LOLLY is hotter than me .

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Andy, I am so happy for you finishing school and even happier that you still love me after it is all said and done! :) Thank God you love doing transcription, otherwise I might have lost a friend! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And talking about Chesapeake Bay, every year Daddy would take Andrew to Norfolk right after school was out. They loved to fish there on Willoughby Spit. Andrew would always get said when it was time to leave and say "bye bye big water".

Hi all, just checking in from work. Never got on last night! May not get on tonight, either. We'll be heading for WV in the AM for the weekend.

Lynne2 said...

I have only read back on this new thread, but Linda....I would recommend a physical and a complete senior dog blood work up for Riley for sure. AND a urinalysis as well.

Congrats Andy!

Sad news from WCV.....the eagle with the compound fracture was euthanized today. :(
WCV update

JudyEddy said...

Wildlife Center of Virginia
A sad update on the Shenandoah County Bald Eagle. Sadly, the wing artery must've been damaged -- once in surgery, Dr. Miranda realized the fractured bones weren't viable. Despite some repair work, she and Dr. Adam soon realized that a repair wasn't possible

SAD NEWS ON THE EAGLE

JudyEddy said...

OOPS saw LYNN posted same thing

hedgie said...

CarolAnne...I can't stop looking at that pic. Had saved it to my puter a few weeks ago....just so touching, isn't it?

Here's a complete article about the wine and sunburn....you DRINK it! That leaves me out of the benefit!
Drinking wine may prevent sunburn

stronghunter said...

Beautiful picture, CarolAnne. I hadn't seen it before. Thanks for the link.

stronghunter said...

Thanks for the wine story, Lynn. I hadn't seen that, either.

hedgie said...

Well, crud on the foundation is not going to just hose off.....gonna have to scrub it. So guess I'll try that in the morning. On the couple of windows the stain stuff got on, it apparently is going to take scraping. Got the storm door done....but using a little razor scraper is NOT going to cut it. Think I'll make a trip to Lowe's tomorrow and hope they have a 3-4" scraper on a handle (like a hammer handle). Had one at "the other house".... Did I tell you about the truck windshield having overspray on it, too?? UGH! Despite their "fear", I think it would have been safer IN the garage----or he should have had me put it twice as far away.
Can you tell that I am NOT a very happy camper?

stronghunter said...

I can tell, Lynn. You paid them plenty, too, as I recall.

Judie said...

Ah, Willoughby Spit♥

hedgie said...

I wonder if an auto ice scraper would work? I have one that is big and easy to hold.....will have to look for it...truck? garage? basement?? Who knows!!

Judie said...

Any recourse, Lynn? Seems painters would be responsible for damage.

hedgie said...

Put some trail cam pics on my Lair. Coons and deer....no bears, or anything else of interest.

hedgie said...

Probably not, Judie. Nothing was ever said about "clean up"......so guess I'm stuck with doing it myself---or getting SIL's bro to do it. He currently owes me 6 hrs. of work cause I didn't have any small bills the last time I paid him!

paula eagleholic said...

Just checking in to let you know I am heading to the beach!!!

Have a great evening!

stronghunter said...

Have a nice trip, Paula.

hedgie said...

Shirley, Topper says Fredericksburg will probably get the smoke from the the swamp fire tomorrow. Hope Hunter doesn't have a game.

hedgie said...

Drive safely, Paula! Try to check in to let us know you get there okay!

Lolly said...

Bye Paula! Have a great weekend!

LOL Lynn, drinking the wine is MUCH better!!! I'll drink to that!☺

Lynn, think they should come back out and do the clean up! I imagine you are not a happy camper.

T-shirts are done and they look great. Ended up putting our names on our shirts with a small hawk beside each name. Will definitely get a group picture. We do every year!

wvgal_dana said...

Sad new abuot the eagle from Shenandoah County. I am glad it was given a chance though.

I see our teams are playing each other tonight. May the better team win. ;o)

Teresa & Max on their way here from ME. She called and they are in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Pit stop and din din.

She dropped hubby off at a Connecticut airport. He's on his way to Utah, I think; some type of musical trip. Pray they arrive safely.

Understand Max is feverish. Poor baby..... needs some Pop Pop & Nana lovin'

Andy, CONGRATS!!!! It's been a long, hard path you chose, but, girl, you made it and we're proud of you!

wvgal_dana said...

Oh I am so very very sorry. I just remembered somewhere along the comments. Someone ask me if this avatar picture is of the hibiscus plant. Yes it is on the left of my porch as I walk out the door. I planted it this year. Its first bloom was the dzy I left for Colorado. It just keeps on blooming. I don't have to do anything to it the old blooms just drop off and new ones come on. That is the type of plant I like lol

stronghunter said...

Lynne,
Boo!
Hiss!

wvgal_dana said...

Linda we are here for you. I know those notes sometimes can get you down alittle. Walk away for awhile. Then go back to them a little later. Honey Billy is there with you...he sits with you, he walks around with you, if you cry he is there, if you laugh he is there and he continues to always love you. (((((((HUGS))))))))

stronghunter said...

Hunter does have a game tomorrow morning, Lynn. I hope we don't get the smoke.

Linda said...

Awe, thanks so much WV Dana. Your words brought tears to my eyes. You're absolutely right and I rejoice in those memories and the fact that he is in Heaven and suffering no more.

He must have been suffering because we discovered he was pushing himself and not getting the rest and oxygen he really needed.

Billy was one of those who would never let you know he "wasn't ok" when if fact that was the case. He always said things were great and had a smile on his face.

Thanks, Dana! I'm feeling the love and ((((hugs)))) coming my way!

I'm off to take my long hot bath to relax and unwind!

LORETTA, wow, Danny out of a room and out of CCU already---very good !

ANDY, someone earlier today mentioned how proud of you the family must be---agreed---but it reminds me to ask how your SIL is doing post-car accident ?

JUDYE, sorry to hear Chelsea's sad news. Hope they'll have that baby they want a little later on !

Kay said...

I'm bummed because it's pledge week on my PBS station, so can't watch the national and local pols hash the events of the week over. Then I see on channel surfing that two networks have football. May the best teams win, but just can't get too enthused over that game--not til' playoffs and bowls. So, what's a girl to do, guess I'll turn to Netflix or magazines or a book....

Will be remembering all the prayer requests and thinking of you, my dear Eagle Buds, with love ! Have a nice evening, a good night and I'll catch up with you again tomorrow.

eating there. Hubby said I best think about not eating Sesame Chicken/rice/tea and I agreed not to do
it more then once every two months...

I am watching the Skins/Steelers game
I see on FB pictures of Hunter and of
Samantha. I hope they are enjoying the excitement and isn't the weather just perfect for the game. I like the score too

hedgie said...

Jo, I'm hoping they win for Hunter and Samantha, too!!! A kid's first pro game should always be a win for their team!!!!

Linda said...

LYNNE - Why would you recommend senior bloodwork and urinalysis for Riley if he is having trouble with sleeping, being nervous, fears, etc. What type of things could be going wrong?

If I missed you, thanks for the advice and hope you have a great weekend.

My bath was heavenly and I feel much more relaxed!

Linda said...

No Steelers game here and we're in PA. What is that all about? We get Tampa Bay at Kansas City.

Makes no sense to me.....

16-7!!!!! Go SKINS!!!!

Mema Jo said...

I agree with you Lynn
FOR THE KIDS and us too.

Love the Score - ♥

Linda said...

Dennis says the perseid meteor shower is going on right now. It is when the earth is going through the tail of an old comet. Happens yearly at this time. He is going out to check it out and see if he can see anything.

Linda said...

Missing MARGY tonight. She must be enjoying her time with James!

MARGY - Hope you had a wonderful visit with James. He knows we all love him!

hedgie said...

DC station has that game, too, Linda. Skins/Steelers is on NBC---national broadcast; Tampa/KC on FOX. Strange.....no fair!
Hope Lynne checks in again and answers your question.....she will have logical explanation for her suggestion. She's a smart cookie!

Mema Jo said...

For Patrick

Mema Jo said...

Linda - Let me know what Dennis sees out
there up in the sky. I think I'll look
out my front door.

Margy and James are probably looking
upward also.

hedgie said...

Fairly sure that Margy has to work tomorrow, so she should be hitting the hay very soon! Hope her Dinosaur is okay....but think she would send me a text if it wasn't!
She isn't usually out THIS late!
Maybe Tom Sweetie met her in the parking lot with a tasty treat!

hedgie said...

I can't see enough sky to see any meteors.....and the moon is very bright!!!

Lynne2 said...

OK, glad I'm still here!

Linda....generally speaking, when there are behavior changes, unless you can pinpoint WHY, then the best thing to do is rule out anything going on physically. The complete blood work up with check all body functions, red and white blood cell counts, thyroid level, etc. And every senior dog should have a complete workup because many things that happen physically in older dogs can be caught early and treated.
Complete urnine testing will also work along with the blood results to further detect any problems.
You want to make sure the vet does a neurological exam (reflexes),checks for any pain on flexation of limbs, check the eyes to look for any problems there. INSIST ON IT. I have worked for vets who will do a quick once over despite owner concerns and miss things they shouldn't have. Go with your gut and never let any vet tell you nothing is wrong if you really think something isn't quite right.
Since our pets can't talk to us and tell us what they are feeling, it's the only way to find out.

Dogs can become anxious if they aren't feeling good. And older dogs can indeed become senile, although that is usually a more subtle onset. It could be just about anything....or nothing to worry about. So try not to worry just yet, and while waiting to see the vet, just be extra aware of any other changes you might see, and write them all down to let the vet know.

Lynne2 said...

Our sky here is SO clear, but the moon is too bright for good meteor sighting. Even so, it's possible!

Lynne2 said...

OK, the boss is getting out of the shower and I am not in bed yet. Let me rephrase....I am not SLEEPING yet! 4am comes early! SO I really have to go.

Linda, I won't be on all weekend...MILs computer is a dinosaur as well and I hesitate to use it for blogging, but I can check my email at some point on Saturday, and of course when I get home if you have any other questions.

BYE BYE!! LOVE to all!

hedgie said...

Final score 16-7, SKINS! WhooHoo!
Sorry, Steeler fans....

stronghunter said...

Skins win!!

NatureNut said...

SKINS WIN!!!

Linda said...

Dennis did go outside and I think he said it was in the northeast sky, but like Lynn said, the moon is too bright to see anything.

I don't know how long it lasts, but I know I'm not going out there. I'm too close to hitting the hay for the night!

Linda said...

Lynne - Thanks so much for the advice. Riley is due for his annual check up either this month or next month and I will certainly get those things checked out.

He's been fine since we got home, but something was surely strange the week before we left.

Again, thanks ♥

Mema Jo said...

Great game - lots of rookie possibilities this season.

Ahhh, football...Dustin plays his first game (scrimmage) tomorrow morning. I am so fearful because he is not built for football, but, I will go and watch, because I promised if he made the team, I would...didn't think a tall skinny fella like he, would make the team. He is playing Charles Town (Washington High School).

Hoda, the ballerinas danced beautifully. Yes, she was close to being anorexic

hedgie said...

LOL, Judie---you and I were thinking alike! I just should have refreshed and then I wouldn't have been an echo!!
Sorry I missed that interview---bet it was funny---depending on who the reporters were, especially!
What channel do you usually watch for news?

PA Nana said...

Well.... game is over, the news complete and I must get some sleep before Max wakes with the rooster.

prayers for good health and peace to all.

Wanda, is the game at Washington? Enjoy!! Dustin will do fine! Normal to worry, but don't let him know!!!

Starting to worry a bit about Margy.....

hedgie said...

Paula, glad you made it okay, and Diann I'm glad that Teresa and Max arrived safely, too!

stronghunter said...

Good night, Diann.

stronghunter said...

You must watch Ch. 9, Lynn.

I have always watch Ch. 7. Maybe I am partial to ABC since I worked for an ABC affiliate many years ago.

Oh yeah I'm stayinmg at the beach thru Monday....my bro is going to stay down the whole week

See ya in the morn
(((Hugs for all)))

hedgie said...

Oh, Jo---Patrick got that right!!!

Yep, Shirley, 9 is my preference....but sometimes watch 7 and 4. Have some favorites on all of them! Hated when Gordon Peterson, Doug Hill and Maureen Bunyon deserted 9! And on 4, Pat Collins can be funny! His dad was my grandparent's doctor. His office was in their apartment building.

hedgie said...

Paula, is your bro vacationing for the week, or working for you??

Goodnight, Shirley and Paula. Sleep tight.

Heading for the tub, but I'll be back to check for Margy and Hoda appearances.

Costume Lady said...

Was it Sharon who was speaking of Willoughby Spit fishing...yes, I believe she said father/grandfather to Andrew fishing there. There use to be a seafood buffet restaurant there, with a wall of windows, looking out over the bay. Gene and I always stopped there when we went to Virginia Beach...wonderful food.
I believe it has been torn down to make room for boat launches and fishing areas.

Lowreeda, glad your friend, Danny is doing so well, but then, that doesn't surprise us!

LYNN, love your girls quaint way of distinguishing there grandparents, especially, "The grandma that lives at Granddaddy's house" Kids are so cute!

LINDA...yes, this was Family Friday. We had a super nice time. Haven't seen Denise and Brandon for 2 weeks and we had a lot of chatting to catch up on.
Jayden just chattered away to GG before she went to bed. She left us all sitting there and said she just HAD to go to bed. She kissed us all good night and went down the hallway with Jayden following close behing...chattering away. He starts out by saying "I talk" then he chatters unrecognizable words and goes on and on:) Poor GG can't hear him at all. Hearing aid is being repaired:(

Hoda said...

WELL!!! The game is over and JUDIE got it right!!!! I was not scared off but simply thought this is better to stay safe than to take sides!!!! You all were HILARIOUS, but there is some real serious competition going on here...LOL...Now I think it is safe to blog again!!!;^)!!!

Welcome to the beach house PAULA. I am glad you made a safe trip.

I take it HUNTER'S team won and that puts me in agreement that it would make it a more memorable experience for him since it was his first live game.

LYNNE and STEVE have a safe trip. I thought it was wonderful professional entry about check ups for an aging dog that you gave LINDA.

LOLLY I am glad you finished the T-shirts and I am sure they are beautiful. I am sorry you missed the meeting yesterday.

MARGY has not checked in and I missed her commentary, maybe indeed TOM SWEETIE brought her supper.LOL

Mema Jo said...

Costume Lady said...

ANDREA...don't know how you did it, but you zoomed right on through, with grades 'to die for'
You are a remarkable lady:)

MARGY, hope you found some time for James, the wise, today.

I'm with you, Judie...seems like the Painters should be liable for their sloppiness.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS

Hoda said...

In the morning I did not blog JO because I had a two hur conversation with Edward, the youngest in my American family.
All is indeed well here and I went to yoga nand then a meeting about the BC SENIORS GAMES. They gave us some fancy Tshirts with logos and tags so we can use free public transportation, the TRAMWAY mostly, to get around the park and not cause traffic congestions. It was a successful meeting.

Lolly said...

Yes, Hoda...and they do not know any better...cheering for the Skins? Really? Definitely a Cowboy fan here! LOL

Looks like Paula is in for a nice weekend. Yea!

We are up early in the morning to get out and mow. Then a few things to do before heading to Denton. Will attempt to get a video to post.

Sunday we have church but not doing anything else that day with the boys. Then will take it one day at a time.

Heading to bed! Night all! Sweet dreams!

Hoda said...

I am staying out of it Lolly!!! but I will educate myself and find out where the teams are from!!!LOL Google is a good tool for that. I know the Cowboys are from TEXAS and the STEELERS are from PENNSYLVANIA...The Red Skins are from...????LOL...

There's Hiding Hoda!!! Staying out of the way of the flying footballs! Poor Hoda---it's only the beginning.....first 4 games are only pre-season and don't count!! Things start getting really heavy in Sept.!!! And don't mind Lolly---she's just obsessed with a delusion!!
Glad your meeting went well.

Howdy to whoever's left on here! Took me FOREVER to catch up tonight.
Will try to make a long story short:

Lynn, hope your SIL's bro can do the cleanup & earn his pay!

So sorry to hear of the euthanized eagle. At least they tried hard to save it!

Have a great long weekend, Paula & Nick!

Diann, have been saying travel prayers for Teresa, Max, and Max's dad. Healing prayers for Max!

Lolly, can't wait for a group picture!

JudyE, prayers & (((hugs))) for Chelsea & her husband...SO sorry! Also, prayers for Jordyn! That cough needs to scram!

Travel prayers for Lynne2 & Steve, too. Have a nice visit!

Linda, (((HUGS))) & love!

magpie said...

I'm actually kind of wide awake, Lynn
energized by the James the Wise, and a couple of "Seniors Coffees" from McDs earlier...

sky is filled with gauzy clouds, cannot even see Perseus itself, few open spots, but the clouds ARE pretty, illuminated by Mr. Moon

going for some shut-eye, Saturday is my Friday...should be okay for the day, with more coffee!

'Nighty-Night all...
xox ♥

hedgie said...

Good night, Jo, Hoda, Margy. Restful sleep for all, I pray.

Hoda--no need to run! We may sound rabid, but it's all in good fun! Just wait til Jack chimes in with jabs at me!!! I do believe, tho', that we have more Skins fans here than Cowpokes fans! Oh, and yes, our stadium IS in MD. We cover the whole metro area!!

Calling it a day---prayers for all!
See you in the morning!

Ms Bookworm said...

Shirley, praying there won't be smoke in the air for Hunter's game. If there IS, hope they postpone the game until a later date.

Loretta, prayers continue for Danny & Jeanne. So happy he's in a private room, and she can stay there with him!

Kay, last I've heard is that Marq is still feeling really SORE. Will call him tomorrow for the latest report.
Thanks for asking!

OMG, Shirley! The 'Skins won?! Marq will be THRILLED!

Judie, congrats for your team's win! Thanks for the night light, too.

Lynn, sorry about your now non-functioning Redskins mug! Gotta admit that was a pretty good battery, though! I want one of them for our DirecTV remote!

Good to see you tonight, Hoda! Sweet dreams for you, too!

Wanda, thank you! I know how my graduation happened: by the power of Momster/Dadster school prayers, and by the Grace of God! (I sure couldn't do it by myself!)

Hi, Margy! Good to see you tonight!
Glad you and James had a good time. Sweet dreams as you dent the pillows!

hedgie said...

P.S. Nite-nite, Andy the Graduate!!!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, think I will call it a night here at this roost. Been busy all day, and need to rest my foot. It's looking better tonight, by the way. Thank God! It was just HUGE this morning! Not hurting much tonight, either, and I did major grossery shopping this afternoon and early evening! Hoping it is finally on the mend!

Prayers have been said for everyone, and all our critters. Making sure the porch light is on. Enabling both the security systems. Hoping that everyone gets a restful sleep tonight. God bless, and goodnight!
Love all of you! :o]
