Funny--when I learned that I had the meeting this afternoon, I was tidying my room a bit and told my students that I was tidying up for a meeting. One of the boys who had been a real pain offered to help, so I set him to work organizing a bookcase. He did a good job. Sometime they surprise you.
Must remember to send him mom a message. From what I have seen, she will appreciate a positive comment about her boy.
The other day he was sticking sharp objects into his nose and ears--multiple sharp objects that looked like large toothpicks. I sent him to the office because I could not teach while he was doing that. No way I could compete. This person is almost 18 years old. (I was also worried about his mental/emotional state and his safety.)
Maybe he realized he had gone too far because he suddenly improved his behavior in the last couple of days.

and Yeah, Judie....need a police cruiser in the parking lot at many different times of the day I think...and some friendly time in the lot outside with said Big Cop with Big Gun..and I know one who fits the bill perfectly !!

Well Magpie mentioned the egg uncovered about 10:20 and it's still uncovered.
It will be an hour in less than 10 minutes.
Lynne----know you are gone, but if you read back in the morning.....REALLY PROZAC for the dog????? Should I talk to the vet????? She still hasn't gotten back to me on the L-Tryptophan.

they have been doing this since before the days of Noah's Ark...with a little setback from DDT in this century...
I am not always able to check some of the nest sites often enough to pick up patterns...have to admit I watch NCTC most of the time !

I think the temp at TH is around 50°...I'm sure they're just delaying incubation and they'll cover it up when it starts raining.

Hi! A very LATE good evening to anyone who's still awake. Hubby and I went and got our grocery shopping finished tonight. After that, Emma spent quite a long time in my lap, chewing on a rope toy. She has a LOT of new adult teeth coming in, and is chewing like crazy! Have found 3 lost baby teeth in the last few days. Lynne, had to laugh when you mentioned that Daisy and Puddles have the same circuitry--nose to feet! It must be a "hunting dog" thing. Is Daisy really on Prozac? I didn't realize they gave it to dogs.

Don't remember mentioning this, but did you know that Emma takes herself for a run up and down our long hall every day? She has a 4-foot nylon leash on while loose in the house, and when she feels like running, she takes the leash in her mouth near the loop handle, and zooms back and forth. She'll walk around the house with the leash in her mouth, too.
Lynn, I guess with our furry "teenagers" it's two steps forward,then one step back--until we finally get where we want to go with them.
Well, I think I'm going to call it a day. It's raining steadily here, and the wind is blowing--a good night to hibernate! Judie, thanks for turning on the night light! I'm making sure the porch light is on. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Prayers have been said for everyone, and their friends and pets. My goodness...was headed to bed without checking in. Sandman has me by the arm and is pulling me toward the bed. Have to make this quick.
We had a great time this evening at GG's. Son-in-law joined us after work (Chantilly, Va.) and when Jayden saw him, he ran to him (loves him lots).
Just as PAULA said, Jayden put a cane in each hand. He smiled very broadly upon seeing 2 eagle canes. I have a video on its way right now of him playing with the canes and if you listen carefully, near the beginning of the video, you can hear him say EAGLE!

Whoo hoo I found a way to use the iPad and pull up the live feed, it cost $5.00 for the app but it works great! I get more done in the middle of the night then during the daytime!
That wind has not let up at all! I'm laying here playing around with this iPad and the roaring outside is really loud. Ive hard one small crash but nothing major yet!

Good morning! I love the new camera and the bright moon. I guess it's not usually this bright without it. I still think it's greatly improved from last year. Not as grainy. Is that a word?
Keeping all this computer stuff running is a full time job for me. I wish I would get paid for it. But.... I really don't know what I'm doing , I just get really lucky from time to time.
I love this iPad. I never leave home without it. I use it for everything.

Yes, it seems - to my opinion - that the view to the nest on the cam, both still and live...is more inclusive...and better for the most part technically - there were some upgrades which were completed in Dec 2010 -
but there have been some unexpected glitches...
the night light at the nest for one...
but it seems to be a work in constant progress

so this is just my humble opinion...

Today's nest forecast-Sunny and very windy. Much cooler with highs in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

The Oriole rescue article was extremely interesting.
The AEF certainly has worked to bring the chick into the world as naturally as possible.
Hopefully the adults will find a better nesting location if not at their old nest.
