Trying a new recipe...with our pecans. Roasted the pecans, then tossed them with a tiny bit of olive oil, coarse salt. cayenne pepper, and fresh rosemary. Yummy! Having them with a glass of chardonnay. ☺
Here they are Paula! Oh, guess that does not work. Come on over! Whoops, guess that does not work either. How about I just tell you, the pecans are really yummy. Sorry, guess that is not good either.
Thanks for keeping me straight Mits! I watched the figure skating last night and loved it. I guess that the snowboarding competition was also one I really liked

Things have been pretty good, Paula. All the snow has pretty much melted here in Missouri, and they are forcasting warmer temps. Been pretty busy with the boys. The twins have both had pretty bad colds. They were born about 4 weeks premature. I think that has a bit to do with it, as they seem a little more prone to becoming ill. They're doing much better though. I don't think I've ever seen this much snot!! LOL
And actually, those comments about an egg in front of her were from Sunday...2 eggs seen Tuesday afternoon, down to one egg on Thursday for sure. It might have broken and she removed it, we're just not sure.
Interesting about the CRC eagle, Paula. I think they know. I was almost certain that third egg was no longer viable, but was really hoping for a miracle. Oh well. One will be better than none!
NOAA alert for 8-16" more snow for western MD and western slopes in NE WV. Better them than us---but bet that catches Lynne2's in-laws again. Not good.
Sorry it's taken time to respond my Daughter called.
I rode the storm!!! What a ride!!! Staying ahead of water in basement. Rough night. Have water down to half inch. Still coming in, but slowed down. Debris all over yard. Some sticks from trees blew so hard they are standing up in the ground. Lost power about 12:30, but hubby got generator running. Power back on about 1:00 pm today. Winds reached 91 knots. Its was HOWLING!!! Blew off a chimney cap that was bolted on. I feel so grateful. We panned out rather well.
People have trees down on homes, in yards and across roads. Flooding has closed roads (of course schools). Still over 10,000 people without power. We had 6-7 inches all rain. Inland from us they got over three feet of snow.
The one egg disappeared last year out of this nest as well...think the chick couldn't make it out...the other one that didn't hatch got buried...we believe.
Paula, we knew they would remove broken eggs, but have never ovserved the removal of intact eggs! That's what I love about these cams. All the work we do is from planes or from long range observation, but here you get up close and personal!
Ragdoll Deb...you are a brave soul with a positive pioneer spirit! Hope things improve. I have a couplke of those limbs standing up straight in the ground, too.
I am assuming CRC's egg was intact...they didn't specify, they just said she removed it from the nest. You may want to ask them...you know who they are, correct?
The mountains got the most snow. They needed it. Skiing hasn't been good. Resorts are hurting. They are some happy.
When we first start getting rain we were all saying "this is better then snow" At 2:00am and the water was in almost everyones cellars It changes to "Wish this was snow."
Yes we do Paula. There are two nests very close the the area I work, and both nest have incubating adults. I have also heard that the adults are incubating at the site where we suspect the 4 egg clutches! Very anxious to check that nest out!
Just checked out the pic of BW. This is the first eaglet I have seen right from egg. I started watching Lib and Belle after eggs were hatched last year.
I assume you are talking about the Carolina Raptor Center, correct? I have heard they have a captive pair of nesting eagles that were wounded in previous years. I did not know they had cam, though. Thanks for the info! And yes, they are nesting on time here in Missouri. We usually see eggs starting in January all the way through March.
TJ - as far as I know they had the cam last year too. It updates every 5 seconds, goes off at dark...not sure what time it goes one. One hatched eaglet this year survived, the second hatched eaglet didn't make it past 24 hours.
I have finished my movie for the evening. Hi TJ Glad you have a handle on the little guys! Only thing with those runny noses is the fear of ear infections. Anyhow - we are praying that that one egg is our upcoming eaglet.
Ragdoll-Deb - You are really getting blasted up there. Right now I am getting flurries and hope it is only meant to be a dusting! Further up west they are to get much more. It was my granddaughter's chicken coop. Only housed a few chickens and they are ok. 600# is because grandson built it with all heavy wood. They live in Hedgesville where our Hedgie resides. I hope he got help to turn it right side up!
Well, I am hearing some grunts and whines getting louder and louder over the monitor. Here by myself tonight. Gave the wife a much needed girls night out. If I don't talk to you all for a while, good luck with the hatch! All the best! Gotta go.
No, I didn't wear my Panda hat, but took it with me today & it's going tomorrow! ☺ Cooked an Omaha Steak hamburger for work. And now instead of shelling pecans like Lolly & Jack, I will be shelling little sugar packets! We are out of regular sugar but have box of packets! Can do some while watching Olympics until I hit the hay. So, if I'm not back, Pleasant Feather & eggshell Dreams ;>)
Mema Jo, I hope the granddaughters not to upset. So glad the chickens are okay. Chickens are real particular about their coop and their roosting spot. Must of upset them.
Ragdoll-very few chickens. 4 or 5 That is all. I'll get some more details tomorrow.
Going to head back the hall way and get ready to retire. I really don't want anymore of this 'white stuff'! I'll be thinking of you Ragdoll - keep the electric on!
Didn't get much of sleep last night. I am going upstairs to bed. My ragdoll cat Noah, has fallen asleep beside me and he is snoring. LOL Going to bring him with me. We are going to have a contest. LOL
Good Night My Eagle Friends. I pray we all wake up to sunshine, birds singing and flowers blooming.
No sheetz over your eyes. I am getting attention because athletes voted me professor of the year, big shots spotted me at Wed. night's game and again at today's game. Asked to join big shots courtside. Great seats. Not used to the attention. Just wish the camera guy had put the "thin" filter on when he put my face on the jumbotron. Grrrr!
Margy, hope work will be quiet. I must have missed something along the way. What night bandit? Any evidence? Hope grandson gets well soon.
Jo, sorry about gd chicken coop. Hope it can be saved.
Hi TJ.
Ragdoll - sorry about the weather beating you all are getting. Hang in there. Glad you have a generator that's working.
So happy about the BWE eaglet.
Hello and goodnight to everyone.
Turning my light off but leaving the night light on for others who might come in. Andy, please set the alarm for us.
Oh-oh....recall of Girl Scout cookies in DC area + 23 other states. Lemon Chalet Cremes have bad taste and odor! Didn't order any this year----probably would have tried them, too!
Wow----Mason Neck State Park, where Shirley and Judie met and saw the eagle release, was slated to be closed for budgetary reasons. Governor "saved" it! It is the ONLY state park in the Old Dominion.
Hey, Judie....I DID get the honored title right! Way cool in my book! You've had a long week. Hope you can chill over hte weekend. When do exams start? Do you use a proctor, or administer yourself?
I'm right behind those of you heading for bed. My mantra for tonight is "stop snow, stop snow..." Prayers for health, wealth and peace for all.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!---We must be living right---no snow here last night!!--CONGRATS! JUDIE!--That is quite an HONOR!!---How COOL to see RED & VICKY on the blog---have missed them! -- Need to catch up---One question RAGDOLL---If NOAH is snoring & keeping you awake--WHY are you taking him upstairs with you to sleep??--ho! REMEMBER!---LIFE IS GOOD!
Good morning everyone. I am watching for blue sky NOT snow here today. In fact they are saying maybe 40 by later next week. We have lots of snow and ice to melt as do all of you . That will certainly help. Dex wants to go for a stroll.
is anyone watching the Great Horned Owl nest at Valmont Station in Colorado? The female has been off of the eggs a lot lately. All night last night and I am wondering if that is normal? Originally she was always on the eggs. Just wondered if after a bit it is not necessary to sit so long?
BELLE is on the nest!--(live) snow in the nest!---We didn't get 'S' in this area last nite--does appear the skies are SUNNY/grey--temp is at 30° here in WILD & WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA --'HOME OF BELLE & LIBERTY'!!---LET US ALL REMEMBER 'LIFE IS GOOD'--& GIVE THANKS!!!
It appears there has been a territorial fight at the Valmont Owl nestbox. We are not sure of the outcome. It was reported that one of the owls appeared burned, as though from flue gas. That is incorrect. Dave, a plant employee who works closely with the nest, got out binoculars. The owl has dried blood on its face. You can also see a lot of feathers in the nestbox.
Here is Dave's post:
Thanks for your support and concern for the Valmont GHO's. The adult female is currently perched outside the nest just out of the camera's view. Observing her with binoculars from about 100 yards away, she appears to have dried blood on her face. The adult male is roosting in a favorite spot directly below the nest and he appears to be healthy. There has been a third GHO, probably female based on size, in the immediate area for over a week. I am speculating that the nesting female got into a territorial fight with the intruder last night. There has been no sign of the third owl today. Hopefully, the female's injuries are superficial and she will recover quickly.
GHO's have been nesting at the Valmont power plant for over 30 years. In the 13 years I have been watching them, only 1 nest has failed, although there has been plenty of excitement. They are remarkably adaptable. The nest cameras give us incredible insight into the challenges they face. Their three eggs are almost certainly nonviable after being exposed for so long. They may possibly lay a second clutch in two weeks or so like they did several years ago.
Be assured that we are keeping a close watch on the owls. I will submit another post if anything significant occurs here. Thanks again for your support.
I was asked why the owl nest had failed (which Dave references). There was a terrible storm and the nestbox filled up with snow. Despite the female's efforts to incubate the eggs, the embryos died. This happened back in 2007.
LILY BEAR is snoozing --- one can certainly hear 'LITTLE LIL' nursing--grunting, etc--the little imp!---Would love to get a good look!---temp is a cool -9°---

I swear I just saw a magpie bird a(not our Magpie Momster) at my feeder. I turned my head to see where my camera might be and it flew away. I looked at the bird info, and they aren't supposed to live around here.
Congratulations to Judie for being recognized by the athletes. How nice. You deserve it.
Lolly's pecan dish sounds really good.
Nice to know that there's a new eaglet at BWE.
I'm waiting for the laundry room floor to dry. . .
It all started when George lost his breakfast on the family room carpet.
I grabbed the pillow that he messed up and some towels and threw them in the washer, then went to get the carpet cleaner. Then I heard water splashing. The washer had overflowed because it was overfilled with stuff, so the laundry room was afloat and the space heater was hot and sitting there in the wet mess.
With Will's help, I got the junk out of the laundry room and the floor mopped. And the cat mess cleaned up. (Will was not happy.)
Came back to my computer and found that the image on the screen was upside down. (A comment on my morning??) Really, really, did not want to call Will again, so I figured it out. Just in case you need to know--control, alt, arrow key. It happened to me once at school, and a student helped me. Maybe the same one who did it?
It should be a good day now. I have experienced enough small disasters already.
SHIRLEY!--SHIRLEY!---I wish I were closer to help you!---I do things like that all the time---but no one is here to see me!!---some days I think it takes a disaster to get me started!---ho!--praying your day gets better by the minute!
Since Will is 30 years old, I just told him to calm down. But the junk on the floor in the laundry room got out of there really quickly . . . fortunately, they were soft things--a comforter, towels, etc.
SHIRLEY---I am just giving you a hard time!!--ho!---You should be here when my kids are home!!---they act like they are guests!!------'GOD LOVE EM'!---ho!
Norma, Will was out late last night with some friends, and I woke him up.
We have gotten a schedule for the make-up days. We have been forgiven some time by the state, and they are trying to get in as many days as possible before the state testing starts. It doesn't look too bad. We do still have some spring break left.
Love the sweet eagle talk. Whoops! Wind ruffled the tailfeathers.
Good morning all. SHirley, you poor girl---what an awful way to start your day. And totally unnecessary for Will to act that way! Shame on him. Hope George is okay. Breezy here, weak sun, 31 degrees. Terrible quake in Chile--tsunami warning for all Pacific coasts...

Do you have a different email line to Steve that we don't have, Margy?
Evening. Great news about BWE.
think I will call it a day. Restful sleep for all
Hello everyone. Haven't had a chance to log on lately. Got the boys to bed and had a few, so I was doing a quick skim through and see we only have one egg left. Does anyone know what happened to the second egg?
Sissy IS going to Pipestem for the count!
No definitive answers, TJ. Only one seen in recent views. Earlier in week there was something white in front of Belle and out of the egg cup....suspect that it was egg #3, which we are fairly certain was not viable.
Hello TJ
Jo got a good pic of an adult with two eggs on the afternoon of Feb 23
Most of the day Feb 24 we think we were seeing only one egg.
and then yesterday it was pretty much confirmed
So this egg, which was most likely the one laid on Feb 13 - we do the countdown from there
Paula stated hatch time maybe between Mar 20 - 23
Figure someone has already answered more to you by the time
this posts.
we have missed you
Best wishes to all the family xo
We are getting a beautiful slow snowfall here...reminds me of what Christmas should have been like...
don't think it is going to amount to much accumulation.
Yes I used SNOWFALL and BEAUTIFUL in the same sentence
The other egg we had been seeing...no, not sure what happened to it
again you will get better answers...
it seems to have been covered over in fluff...as though the Eagle parents realized it was not viable
Think I am going to read tonight. Working on slides makes my shoulders hurt, going to take a break.
I'll leave room for better responses TJ
Good Evening my eagle friends!!!!
I hope everyone has weathered the storms.
I see Belle is tenting at the nest.
It's also snowing.
Good night, Ceil. Sorry I missed you.
Thanks! Was just wondering. This has no scientific basis what-so-ever, but a few years back we did some work around a large lake over a couple year period that had a very large breeding population of Canadian geese. On many occasions we observed nest where an egg or multiple eggs had been removed. After examination, ALL of those eggs were found to be infertile or rotten. It really seemed they knew there was no point with further incubation. Have never seen this with eagles, though I'm sure if that WERE the case, eagles would do the same. Interesting!

Water problem going okay ?
Belle looks very strange on still cam........something weird about the camera view, or something.
BWE eagle awake
Egg roll our nest...lots of fluff stuck in them there talons, LOL
Egg roll at BWE, too
Personally, that is what I suspect.
and Belle is awake, maybe checking the lone egg
I'll post the screen grab in the album.
All is good, Lynn, I've been watching all night.
couple of snow flakes flying by...
I have so much to learn, which I do by reading and watching what goes on here...
I sure wish there was a way to really know about all the eggs that have not survived at NCTC...
someday, maybe
always learn from your posts, TJ
Thanks
Hey TJ how's it going? Nice you could pop in.

I guess we have a celebrity of sorts here with Our Judie...

Judie, you are too cryptic in your post about this...is this what I read ???
... Congratulations..the athletes made a grand selection ! xo
I'm not sure if that's what she was saying or not, Margy.
me either !!!
I just re-read it again and think maybe she is too humble to come right out and SAY IT....or, she is pulling the Sheetz over our eyes ☺
TJ, CRC eagle removed an egg from her nest...just this season

They're doing much better though. I don't think I've ever seen this much snot!! LOL
I have seen eagles removing broken eggs for sure...
hope all recovery comes PRONTO,
TJ, for the little chaps
And actually, those comments about an egg in front of her were from Sunday...2 eggs seen Tuesday afternoon, down to one egg on Thursday for sure. It might have broken and she removed it, we're just not sure.
Oh the joys, TJ, LOL
Snow has been on the melt here too...just some flurries yesterday and today and right now.
Boy, glad I already ate!
Interesting about the CRC eagle, Paula. I think they know. I was almost certain that third egg was no longer viable, but was really hoping for a miracle. Oh well. One will be better than none!
Judie has not helped me solve the Case of the Night Bandit...
so I'm outta here, will catch up on the Eagle talk at 4 am.
Good Night everyone
Prayers for wellness, and comfort and serenity
God Bless Us, Every One
xox ☺ ♥
Any eagles on eggs up your way yet, TJ?
Life is Good!!!!!
The one egg disappeared last year out of this nest as well...think the chick couldn't make it out...the other one that didn't hatch got buried...we believe.
Man, Ragdoll, what a storm. Saw some pics on the net...
But you guys needed snow, right? Just not 3 ft, I'm sure.
Judie told us quite some time back that the students had elected her as Prof of the year, or similar title!
Magpie. How big was this chicken coop. Did she have 600 chickens?
Paula, we knew they would remove broken eggs, but have never ovserved the removal of intact eggs! That's what I love about these cams. All the work we do is from planes or from long range observation, but here you get up close and personal!
Ragdoll Deb...you are a brave soul with a positive pioneer spirit! Hope things improve. I have a couplke of those limbs standing up straight in the ground, too.
I am assuming CRC's egg was intact...they didn't specify, they just said she removed it from the nest. You may want to ask them...you know who they are, correct?
Good night, sweet Margy. Rest well.
Oh cool Hedgie.
Congrats, Judie!
The mountains got the most snow. They needed it. Skiing hasn't been good. Resorts are hurting. They are some happy.
When we first start getting rain we were all saying "this is better then snow" At 2:00am and the water was in almost everyones cellars It changes to "Wish this was snow."
We have a eaglet at BW?
Yes we do Paula. There are two nests very close the the area I work, and both nest have incubating adults. I have also heard that the adults are incubating at the site where we suspect the 4 egg clutches! Very anxious to check that nest out!
Just hatched today Ragdoll. Only one pic seen of it, at about 4:30 today...Lisa has it posted on BW site.
Great TJ...are they laying on time or early?
Hedgie, what area are you in?
Hedgie is in Hedgesville, WV
Just checked out the pic of BW. This is the first eaglet I have seen right from egg. I started watching Lib and Belle after eggs were hatched last year.
How exciting!!
So people further south from me got hammered also. How did you make out paula?
Deb, I'm about 30 miles from "our" nest.
Hedgie, How wonderful to be so close to our nest. You must go visit and watch Lib and Belle fly around.
TJ - as far as I know they had the cam last year too. It updates every 5 seconds, goes off at dark...not sure what time it goes one. One hatched eaglet this year survived, the second hatched eaglet didn't make it past 24 hours.
Lots of wind here, Ragdoll
Yup, that's it TJ
Hard to believe the wind could flip that coop, Jo! No wonder my trash can took off! Hope the chickens didn't get hurt.
We have about 1/4" of fresh flakes on surfaces. That's enough---it can stop now!
Well, I am hearing some grunts and whines getting louder and louder over the monitor. Here by myself tonight. Gave the wife a much needed girls night out. If I don't talk to you all for a while, good luck with the hatch! All the best! Gotta go.
NBG hatching should start around MAR 7
Ours should be around MAR 20..
CO-Ft St Vrain should be MAR 21..
Judy B already has BWE hatch on her chart..
Hedgie - I'm thinking it was up on legs/stilts. The wind could get under it. Happened last night.. Didn't talk with them anymore today.
I am glad that Sissy will go do the bird count. Jenny does the Cornell's
backyard count every year.
I need to go over to FB - got 2 more friends today from days long ago.
BBILW
No, I didn't wear my Panda hat, but took it with me today & it's going tomorrow! ☺
Cooked an Omaha Steak hamburger for work.
Night TJ...finally figured you were talking about the baby monitor!
belle up
Egg roll and back in...wiggle wiggle
Ragdoll-very few chickens. 4 or 5 That is all. I'll get some more details tomorrow.
Going to head back the hall way and get ready to retire. I really don't want anymore of this 'white stuff'!
I'll be thinking of you Ragdoll - keep the electric on!
Check back in when you can, TJ! Know that your time is precious, as are the little ones!
Spring is only in 22 days.
Happy dreams!! Good Night. ^..^
Here to say goodnight.
Good Night Ragdoll/Deb
I am right behind you...
Paula & Hedgie & others
The ground is white again........
Good Night All!
Prayers for everyone!
((hugs)) ♥ ♥ ♥
Judie You need to get some sleep and relax and stop repeating yourself! lol
((hugs)) ♥
My mantra for tonight is "stop snow, stop snow..."
Prayers for health, wealth and peace for all.
Looks like it's my turn to get some sleep. Heading for the bed.
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SWEET DREAMS

JUDIE!--That is quite an HONOR!!---How COOL to see RED & VICKY on the blog---have missed them! -- Need to catch up---One question RAGDOLL---If NOAH is snoring & keeping you awake--WHY are you taking him upstairs with you to sleep??--ho! REMEMBER!---LIFE IS GOOD!
BWE--LISA has posted a pic of the NEW CHICK coming out of the EGG!!---AWESOME!---
Good morning everyone. I am watching for blue sky NOT snow here today. In fact they are saying maybe 40 by later next week. We have lots of snow and ice to melt as do all of you . That will certainly help. Dex wants to go for a stroll.
Enjoy your day.
is anyone watching the Great Horned Owl nest at Valmont Station in Colorado? The female has been off of the eggs a lot lately. All night last night and I am wondering if that is normal? Originally she was always on the eggs. Just wondered if after a bit it is not necessary to sit so long?
Good morning. Laura from what I know the female was injured possibly in a fight. The eggs are not viable.
MORNIN' GLO & DEX!---Tell your CUMBERLAND friend that all routes into CUMBERLAND have been closed!--
MORNIN' LAURA & CEIL!---Thanks CEIL---I didn't know that! You are so knowledgeable!!
good Saturday a.m. everyone...
Laura, the first clutch was lost due to a territorial battle...we posted all the info on here a few days ago, don't remember which thread it was.
2/25/2010
Laura, you can go to raptorresource.org..for info
LILY BEAR is snoozing --- one can certainly hear 'LITTLE LIL' nursing--grunting, etc--the little imp!---Would love to get a good look!---temp is a cool -9°---

amen
it's a beautiful sunny morning here too, Norma, got a dusting of snow during the night...
MITS---That half eaten fish was there earlier!!---guess it is large enough for another meal---ho!
Is today when SISSY is taking part in the bird count?---our WVNPR predicted bad weather for the southern part of WV---
next Saturday, Norma
Have not caught up on everything by far . . .
Dusting of snow here, too. It looks really cold out there.
gee, well, have a nice day, Shirley, I would crawl back into bed and start over:)
you know, with no wind it is really pleasant.
SHIRLEY!--SHIRLEY!---I wish I were closer to help you!---I do things like that all the time---but no one is here to see me!!---some days I think it takes a disaster to get me started!---ho!--praying your day gets better by the minute!
Well, the laundry room needed cleaning.
I knew Will was unhappy when he started throwing things.
Temps in eastern panhandle will get up in the 40s this afternoon!
WHOA!!--I hope that is true!!---
You all are very kind. I need some kind words.
It was nice to hear the happy bird songs at the nest as well.
did you make will set in the corner--when he started throwing things?---just checking! ho!
Since Will is 30 years old, I just told him to calm down. But the junk on the floor in the laundry room got out of there really quickly . . . fortunately, they were soft things--a comforter, towels, etc.
They have SNOW in BLUEFIELD!
Now I am not hearing bird songs at the nest, but an annoying hum. Anyone else?
Two at our nest.
Sweet talk.
SHIRLEY---I am just giving you a hard time!!--ho!---You should be here when my kids are home!!---they act like they are guests!!------'GOD LOVE EM'!---ho!
SHIRLEY---Do you have to make-up days you all were off?--LISA says they will be losing most of their spring break----
Watch out for that wind, Lib!
Morning, all!
Quick check in, heading down to Mom's to do the floors and get the snow off the deck.
Good Morning everyone..I am just checking in to let everyone know that I woke up to 7 more inches of that white stuff! Will it ever end?
That wind is FIERCE at the nest!--Doesn't it appear that they are trying to protect each other!!--I can't tell them apart!
Lib gone,
anyone seen the new BWE eaglet yet this morning?
LOL---NYC schools closed yesterdayfor only the 4th time in6 yrs.!! ??Less snow, better removal, few bus riders?? Interesting.
Will has gone back to his lair. He did a nice job of carpet cleaning.
PAULA---Have a good day!---You won't need to go to W/OUT for a few days! ho!---don't work too hard!
I saw the quake news this morning. Sad.
YEP!---PAULA!---It's cool!
