I'm told we will have a new web address for the cam tomorrow. The guys have been working the kinks out of the system and this is part of that process. More when they send me the info.

We had a nice walk, too bad the #$@#$ wind is blowing, but this is SD. I saw a Bluebird today!! Also saw flocks of geese winging their way into the area. A lot of the river is still frozen, but lots more open water than there has been.
The wind was horrible yesterday, sustained at 30, not sure what the gusts were. Today not so bad, 15 with gusts in the 20's, but it is cool to walk into it. We headed back into the trees instead of walking by the water.
I was just checking out Judy from the Maine Forum's egglist and the next new nest we should see an egg in is West End. That is assuming the eagles follow last year, so far that hasn't worked out too well. :)
Update on Volcano: 2009-02-10 14:08:11 Unrest at Redoubt Volcano continues, though no eruption has yet occurred. Volcanic tremor is ongoing with variable amplitudes. Today AVO personnel are in the field to make visual observations and improve the monitoring network.
Yeah right! I was trying to catch some one day for Daddy to fish with. I used a pillow case to cover my hand cause I wasn't touching them yucky things. Once, I was going to be brave and bait the hook with one, it moved and I screamed and dropped it.
Sharon, I have always blamed my son's early birth on a slug...stepped on one in my bare feet,,,,,yuck, got so mad went in a got a can of beer and drowned him in it....2 days later Kev was born 3 weeks early
Raining at the nest. I have to remind myself all the time that they are not sitting there feeling sorry for themselves, saying "woe is me" because they have to keep the eggs covered in the rain. No human emotions!

ok, I may be a city girl ,but honestly, I know what it means when another bird scrambles on top of another bird.....obviously the people that watch owls don't...from the Starr Ranch site... January 31, 2009 There are 6 eggs as of tonight. Still less than in 2007, yet more than in 2008. First egg should hatch around Feb. 20. She could stop laying now or lay a few more. Some of you have emailed me about male/female interaction, e.g. he comes in with or without prey, scrammbles on top of her for 10-20 seconds and then is off. This is copulation. It happens often approaching and during the egg laying period. Also: Standing on one leg. They do this all the time. Apparently this is more comforatable than standing on two, or more likely we really don't know why... Point is, they are OK. There's nothing wrong with the "hidden" leg.
You do have to feel sorry for some people, don't you, not to know anything about nature and birds. A friend of mine's daughter is in Africa for one semester. She has no interest in seeing the wildlife--I feel bad for her, someday she will realize what a wonderful chance she missed.
At the very beginning, it was 5 second refreshes and then they changed it to 30 seconds and I got so bored with it that I just about stopped watching. Man oh man, what I would have missed out on.
I have tried to convince her dad to encourage it, no, that isn't why she went to Africa. I would think the school would include an excursion, that is mandatory to get them a rounded education.
Nightcrawlers...hmmm...used to buy them to feed the toads when it wasn't the right time of year to find earthworms and crickets. Could handle earthy's ok, but used tweezers for the nightcrawlers! Put the finishing touches on taxes today and e-filed.
Congrats to Norfolk! My oh my....tornadoes already in OK. Saw a grasshopper today, as well as a spidey, and heard the robins singing....sure wish it WAS spring! Afraid we are going to pay for this stretch!
Got my call from the auto warranty scam this evening--was on a call w/ my daughter, and was on corded phone, so no caller ID, so flashed over...told him off AND registered complaint with FFC!!!

Thanks for the update, Steve. That is certainly good news!!
And Norfolk has their first egg!!
Hi, Glo, thank you steve for that report. Hope we can get sound back before our little ones hatch.
I put Norfolk Pic on EM blog!
the sound should come back on with these improvements. We switched it off because of the bandwidth issues that you have all seen.
Paula, I think Jo is talking about the update date thats shown below the live cam view.
Thanks Steve for the new thread.
Thanks Steve:)
BTW, that Feb 10th date below the live cam means the last day a change was made to the webpage.
Boy Norfolk Mom really throws herself on that egg, doesn't she!
Egg roll our nest.
Thanks, Steve. Looking forward to having the sound back!
Norfolk would be nice with sound, too.

Awesome pic on your blog Paula
Wow! That is really good.
I guess it must be the positioning of the camera, but NBG egg looks hugh, compared to Belle's.
Going to hear the wind and the crunchies
and the wing flapping again! And also our eagle voices!
YEAH the dogs, geese and trains!
AWESOME!
Wow, I hope it makes everything work better.
YEAH NORFOLK!!
My IE keeps freezing up and driving me nuts!
It is wonderful to be draNO!!!!!
Wanda - I think our eggs look large enough! They are the size of a tennis ball, just in an egg shape! :)
Congrats to Norfolk, get off that egg so I can see it!
I am glad you are now draNO, too, Sharon.

that is sad....I would like to go there just to see the wildlife or the Galapagos Islands.

I know it is an optical illusion but it sure looks like Belle has two heads! Just missed the nest-hopping routine :(
One thing we can thank Spidey for...we can tell if the cam is frozen or live...
Howdy Evening People ☺
I've read just far enough back to see that Norfolk has an egg ! Oh boy....
I sure am glad I washed my car yesterday, so now I can see all the new wet grey stuff on there that today's rain brought onto it -
but I know we need rain, so It is What It Is ☺
Anyone watch The Mentalist? Love Simon Baker. Cho was pretty cool when he got his mo-jo on, huh?
TWO Owls at Valmont !

I agree....CSI not the same w/o Grissom.
I have noticed owls do a lot of HP-ing even after the eggs hatch, continual bonding....
whoops second one just left, wonder if I missed some HP before I clicked on that one
Without a Trace is next.
