WANDA, sorry you have been feeling poorly, if it is that stomach thing, it lasts about 5 or 6 days....hubby and I both had it 2 weeks ago, so both of us were on our own, it was dreadful, I lost 5 days of getting prepared, that is why I sent no Christmas cards this year, had to many things to catch up on to get ready, after it left.

Our son & DIL from TN gave us a beautiful fleece throw. It looks just like sheepskin!Put it in it's square box on table w/our tiny tree. Both kitties took turns checking out the comfort level last night!

Norma, Charlotte is only about 3-1/2 hours from us. But there wasn't anyone to stay with Mrs. Riffe and I really needed to work, so I selflessly sacrificed!! LMBO! I would have loved to have gone but Mattie wanted to go so bad. I am gonna go back home and watch it on my big screen plasma tv with Thelma and Sher. Maybe we will get to see them on the camera.

Yes, that was a bird at BWE, we think it was a crow, or at least something black.
Just heard more shots Mits! That seems like sacrilege to me, shooting around our precious eagles!!

To set the record straight, it has been colder here, and it does freeze sometimes.
You might remember it was always a huge problem when we used to have all the orange groves here. They'd have everybody they could get up all night keeping the 'smudge pots' running, trying to keep the fruit from freezing.

Jim, are the orange groves gone? I remember the smudge pot news from out there as well as FL...but of course we had them here, too, for the apple and peach orchards--which have declined greatly--as well as fans and spray trucks--they would go ahead and spray blossoms or fruit w/ water to form ice to protect them from the cold temps in early spring/fall.
Yes, Deb, it occasionally snows here, right on the beach areas...you probably saw some snow pics from your relative in Huntington Beach.
And, culminating a long, frigid story in the El Toro Marine Base area when I returned to the States from Nam in Dec 67, I arrived at my sister and b-i-l's place in Leucadia (12/15 mi. s. of Oceanside) to news that it had snowed there the last couple of days (less than 1/4 mi. from the surf). And they had Polaroids of it all over the roof and yard ... maybe 4-5 inches.
(I believe Polaroid has stopped making their instant film cameras, and probably the film will go before too long ... kind of sad.)

Hello Eagle friends! Last carload just left. All is quiet here and Jack and I are enjoying the peace, but have major house cleaning to do. We also had our grand dog here and he tracked in lots of dead grass and leaves. Christmas was more than grand!!
We broke records here yesterday with the high in the low 80's. We had the house open and fans going and thought about turning on the AC. A front came through this morning and it is 63, thank goodness! I don't like this kind of weather this time of year!
Glad I have this new laptop. Our computer is down.

I just talked to my sister in Huntington Beach and she told me how cold it was there. My appetizer is ready for tomorrow. It is a little hot, but I think when you add it to the cream cheese it will not taste as spicy.

No, it is not normal to have 80.s in the middle of winter. Also, we have cold weather frequently. Not uncommon to have an ice storm and we usually have one nice snow. (two or three inches) And, have known us to have 12 inches of snow....that was in the 60's, LOL.

No. Last night they told us to expect violent weather early this morning, but all we got was a short rain and I heard thunder twice. Right now we have sunshine, blue sky, a nice breeze and now 64.

3-5 Jalapeno peppers, seeded
1 bunch of chives
1 cup sugar
1 bag cranberries, thawed
Blend all together and serve over a brick of cream cheese with crackers.
I use wheat thins, but any kind of cracker like that would work.

It is good, Helen, and you can make it spicier if you want by leaving some of the seeds in. Since I don't know what people will like tomorrow, I left all the seeds out. I doubled the recipe this time and it was too much for my blender. If I double again, I will just mix up one batch at a time.

Yeah, I had to coach him over the phone on what to do. LOL Yes, it has been a fantasy Christmas. Michael also gave his dad a trip for this next summer. They are going to go white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. They will be flown in by helicopter, raft for three days, having their tents put up and gourmet meals cooked for them. Isn't that a riot?!
