WANDA, sorry you have been feeling poorly, if it is that stomach thing, it lasts about 5 or 6 days....hubby and I both had it 2 weeks ago, so both of us were on our own, it was dreadful, I lost 5 days of getting prepared, that is why I sent no Christmas cards this year, had to many things to catch up on to get ready, after it left.
Thank you Wanda for saving AM pics. Sorry you were sick for holiday----get better! Our son & DIL from TN gave us a beautiful fleece throw. It looks just like sheepskin!Put it in it's square box on table w/our tiny tree. Both kitties took turns checking out the comfort level last night!
Good Soggy Saturday Morning It is wet looking here in the valley Getting in gear to head out to daughter's up around Big Pool for lunch. I need to read earlier comments - looks like I will find out where my friend Wanda has been. Sickness of any kind should take a break over Christmas! Be back before I leave for the mountains - need to check out cams hurriedly....I am running late.
Poor, poor Wanda. Snuggle back into bed and let Gene cater to your every need...and try to eat, dear girl. Maybe some chicken soup or some mashed taters?? Nap tight. Morning every who jumped on while I was gone. Reading papers has made me drowsy...hmmmm...Sat...nothing special to do...should I take a panda nap? Bummer that we can't see lil Luney again til Monday! And then we will only have 4 days. Just not fair!!
This morning pics are awesome, Wanda. Thanks and I think you will start to feel better now! Really have been thinking and wondering about you! I thought you and Gene took off to celebrate your up coming anniversary! loLove

GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---PAULA---NATURENUT---HELEN---JO---HEDGIE---DEB & SISSY!!! I couldn't believe how long the ROYAL COUPLE stayed at the nest!!--then back!!-----COOL way to start the day!!!---
To set the record straight, it has been colder here, and it does freeze sometimes.
You might remember it was always a huge problem when we used to have all the orange groves here. They'd have everybody they could get up all night keeping the 'smudge pots' running, trying to keep the fruit from freezing.
MORNIN' MOVIN'JIM!!---We have been having beautiful weather here!---This morning the fog was so thick--one could have cut it with a knife!!----A bit chilly though!!
Jim, are the orange groves gone? I remember the smudge pot news from out there as well as FL...but of course we had them here, too, for the apple and peach orchards--which have declined greatly--as well as fans and spray trucks--they would go ahead and spray blossoms or fruit w/ water to form ice to protect them from the cold temps in early spring/fall.
Yes, Deb, it occasionally snows here, right on the beach areas...you probably saw some snow pics from your relative in Huntington Beach.
And, culminating a long, frigid story in the El Toro Marine Base area when I returned to the States from Nam in Dec 67, I arrived at my sister and b-i-l's place in Leucadia (12/15 mi. s. of Oceanside) to news that it had snowed there the last couple of days (less than 1/4 mi. from the surf). And they had Polaroids of it all over the roof and yard ... maybe 4-5 inches.
(I believe Polaroid has stopped making their instant film cameras, and probably the film will go before too long ... kind of sad.)

Hello Eagle friends! Last carload just left. All is quiet here and Jack and I are enjoying the peace, but have major house cleaning to do. We also had our grand dog here and he tracked in lots of dead grass and leaves. Christmas was more than grand!!
We broke records here yesterday with the high in the low 80's. We had the house open and fans going and thought about turning on the AC. A front came through this morning and it is 63, thank goodness! I don't like this kind of weather this time of year!
Glad I have this new laptop. Our computer is down.
Lolly, guess we back here kind of expect you to have those 80's--and Jim and Red, too. When it drops low we are surprised!! Poor Jim is really chilly today! Glad you had a great holiday...rest now--the clean-up can wait!
yes, have talked to them several times, think the next storms that are coming in are rain events, they will head b ack home next Saturday, but they are having a wonderful time visiting
I just talked to my sister in Huntington Beach and she told me how cold it was there. My appetizer is ready for tomorrow. It is a little hot, but I think when you add it to the cream cheese it will not taste as spicy.
No, it is not normal to have 80.s in the middle of winter. Also, we have cold weather frequently. Not uncommon to have an ice storm and we usually have one nice snow. (two or three inches) And, have known us to have 12 inches of snow....that was in the 60's, LOL.
Thermometer says it's 54° here, but sun is weak and it doesn't feel that warm. But it doesn't take much to bring out the pests...just saw a fly on the window!
No. Last night they told us to expect violent weather early this morning, but all we got was a short rain and I heard thunder twice. Right now we have sunshine, blue sky, a nice breeze and now 64.
Lynn, Ceil and MM don't like to fly...so it is what it is:), but there were major problems with the airlines also all this week with weather related problems out there
It is good, Helen, and you can make it spicier if you want by leaving some of the seeds in. Since I don't know what people will like tomorrow, I left all the seeds out. I doubled the recipe this time and it was too much for my blender. If I double again, I will just mix up one batch at a time.
Right, Helen, planes were backed up, too. Deb, sounds really good...the hotter the better for me! Never thought about combining peppers w/ cranberries!

I think it got down to about 34-35°, and it's still only 38° here.
As lightly as we dress for the normal weather around here, that is CCOOOOOLDT!!

Jim
Yes, that was a bird at BWE, we think it was a crow, or at least something black.
Just heard more shots Mits! That seems like sacrilege to me, shooting around our precious eagles!!
Loretta, dead bird has been in BWE nest since Christmas Eve
To set the record straight, it has been colder here, and it does freeze sometimes.

well it seems like they make themselves scarce once they hear the shooting, there have been no late afternoon visits the last few weeks on Saturdays
Need to read the last blog---Has CANDY mentioned the BOWL GAME?---WV plays NC today in the MEINEKE CAR CARE BOWL!!----

hey Sissy, what is going on at the Bluefield cam????
never mind, everyone is leaving now
MORNIN' MOVIN'JIM!!---We have been having beautiful weather here!---This morning the fog was so thick--one could have cut it with a knife!!----A bit chilly though!!
I hear a train. The sound seems clearer today than usual. Is it just me?
Is the Jefferson Street cam down or something Mits? I never look at it.
More divers!

Helen, have you heard from the western travelers today? Has the snow stopped? How long are they supposed to stay?
we had a wonderful day, just can't believe it is over so fast..
yes, have talked to them several times, think the next storms that are coming in are rain events, they will head b ack home next Saturday, but they are having a wonderful time visiting
I just talked to my sister in Huntington Beach and she told me how cold it was there. My appetizer is ready for tomorrow. It is a little hot, but I think when you add it to the cream cheese it will not taste as spicy.
Burrowing owl is back out.
Lolly, are you having any of the tornado activity that is on the news?
No, it is not normal to have 80.s in the middle of winter. Also, we have cold weather frequently. Not uncommon to have an ice storm and we usually have one nice snow. (two or three inches) And, have known us to have 12 inches of snow....that was in the 60's, LOL.

Make that one eagle at West End.
Thermometer says it's 54° here, but sun is weak and it doesn't feel that warm. But it doesn't take much to bring out the pests...just saw a fly on the window!
he is a cutie, isn't he, Deb?
No. Last night they told us to expect violent weather early this morning, but all we got was a short rain and I heard thunder twice. Right now we have sunshine, blue sky, a nice breeze and now 64.
Deb, what's your dip recipe?
Mits...have they thought about changing from the train to a plane??? LOL. Sure hope they don't encounter the mess coming home that they had going out!
I have the backdoor open and my windchimes are singing.
3-5 Jalapeno peppers, seeded
1 bunch of chives
1 cup sugar
1 bag cranberries, thawed
Blend all together and serve over a brick of cream cheese with crackers.
I use wheat thins, but any kind of cracker like that would work.
Could someone please send me the links to the moose cam, maine cam, and caltran cam? I do have all my favorites on my laptop.
sounds good Deb, my guys would love that one
Lynn, Ceil and MM don't like to fly...so it is what it is:), but there were major problems with the airlines also all this week with weather related problems out there
It is good, Helen, and you can make it spicier if you want by leaving some of the seeds in. Since I don't know what people will like tomorrow, I left all the seeds out. I doubled the recipe this time and it was too much for my blender. If I double again, I will just mix up one batch at a time.

We have an EAgle chirping at NCTC - sounds close !
Hi Margy! Jack has taken our computer to be repaired, I am enjoying being home alone. So quiet! LOL Trying to get used to my new laptop.
Actually heard two at NCTC - and one seems to have landed on the cam branch...everything shook for a minute...maybe, a Visit upcoming !
Glad you have your laptop Lolly - !
Mits, do you have a link to weather underground?
Yeah, I had to coach him over the phone on what to do. LOL Yes, it has been a fantasy Christmas. Michael also gave his dad a trip for this next summer. They are going to go white water rafting through the Grand Canyon. They will be flown in by helicopter, raft for three days, having their tents put up and gourmet meals cooked for them. Isn't that a riot?!
Hi ya, Margy! Did you rest well?
Sounds like a dream come true, Lolly, for Jack and your son!
Yes, Hedgie..I did rest well, thank you...thought I was getting the bug when I first got home, but it seems to have flown away...
Beautiful shot of two eagles at BWO.
Fish seems to be gone from BWO - maybe the one will take it to BWE!
Our Nest is just begging for some nestorations !
I must be seeing things...now the fish and the Eagle are back at BWO - is it rewinding or something ????
