I'm missing eagles!

Judie, a belated but heartfelt Happy Birthday to Darth! How is he liking Windows 10? Did he keep Cortana? I do not like that every keystroke will be sent directly to Microsoft. Nothing we do anymore is private. I have not "updated" and not sure I will. I like Windows but I also like Apple!

Shirley, I know you have a special place in your heart where George lives but I think somebody is knocking on that door and asking for a little bit of that space! So excited for you concerning the trip. Sorry for the financial confusion. Want you to have a great time!

Glo, hoping the best outcome for Becky. Know she is in good hands.

Happy Birthday Barbara!

Think jury service (their preferred name!) is over. It was more walking than I am capable of accomplishing. Embarrassing and enlightening adventure.

So sorry for the sick furbabies. They are lucky to have loving and caring families.

Did I say that I miss the eagles?

Daughter late going into surgery. Dr doing a C section. Should go in soon. Kay My daughter lives in Tucson BUT she chose to go see the Dr she came to know in podunk town Nogales. He went to their church when she first moved to AZ etc. I sort of understand but it would not have been my choice. Anyway they will send the tissue to Tucson for testing and we should know by Fri. :-( Anyway I will let you know when I hear anything further.

very cool: new thread. THANKS STEVE

disturbing: a local 51 y/o man shot up a movie theater across town. not a lot of details, but.....the police shot and killed the shooter.

ugh.

was wearing a backpack, had an ax, pepper spray and wore a mask.....yikes.

going to read back now.....

stronghunter said...

Saw the news about the incident in Nashville, Janet. Fortunately, this guy did not seriously injure or kill anyone before the cops got him. They are carefully investigating the backpacks he brought into the theater. I think they are blowing up at least one of them.

Howdeee! Returned home yesterday evening. What a awesome time was had on this road trip! Went with two close, long time friends to visit Annie, another of our over 40 years of friendship. I think I have told you about Annie before. She is a dwarf. Widowed with no children and now lives with her widowed older sister in a condo in Kingwood north of Houston. Annie is now completely in a motorized chair. Her legs are completely useless with no feeling. She has two young ladies who come everyday at 9 to get her out of bed, take her to the bathroom, get her dressed and put her in her chair. They return at 2:00 to take her to the bathroom, and again at 9:30 to put her to bed. They come twice a week for showers and a nurse comes once a week to check her. The 12 hours she is In her chair she is very active. She plays cards with friends, she goes to chair exercises, and a happy hour twice a week. A lady comes once a week todo chores which includes walking withAnnie dot the grocery store. Another lady comes to clean. She has made many friends. Annie is almost always happy, cheerful and has a positive attitude! She has always been this type and therefore has many, many friends but we are her closest , longest friends and it so hard to be apart.

We laughed and loved to the fullest while there. She took us to their dining room, it's retirement living. We took her out to eat as there are a few restaurants within walking distance as is the grocery store. She goes in her bright yellow chair. We are going to try to get back down there this Fall. It is about a 4 1/2 hour drive and we get to stay in a guest room in the building for only $50.

If you can walk, you have much to be thankful for!

Lolly said...

Have to mention that after Annie was put to bed we sat on the floor in her room for over another hour talking and laughing. Wonderful times to remember!

Sounds like a wonderful friendship, Lolly. Such fun for everyone.

Good dinner time to all ♥

Company just left - there were 3 different sets and they staggered their departing.
Every one and every thing was wonderful. Little Elliot loved his cousins. The cousins
also like games on the computer and TV that was on for a short time.

Peach pie was delishes. Ice cream added to it.

I need to put my feet up - dinner is going to be late.

Prayers continue to be offered up for Becky.

Hey all. I’m back.

So far, per the news, there were 8 people in the theater at the time of the attack. A couple were pepper sprayed, one had a minor injury from the hatchet/small ax….and yes, they are supposed to detonate the backpacks.

GLO: thinking of Becky………..
KAY: Tom drives all ages, elementary, middle and high school. Often he has to do double runs. There aren’t enough metro school bus drivers.
Yes, Gertrude behaved herself once she got going. She is a 2016 year (brand new) school bus.
Still hoping for some rain. It looks hopeful.
Will be keeping up with the news. I hate to say this, but the truth is, I’m glad they shot the shooter and that he is deceased. My heart goes out to his family…..but per metro at this point, the shooter raised his gun and pointed it at an officer. And in that situation……I applaud metro p.d.
Blessings to all

Surgery is over. Daughter is in recovery. Family can see her in 45 mins or so. Mass will be sent for testing but Drs opinion is it looks benign.

stronghunter said...

Just relieved that this man did not take anyone with him, Janet. Police officers acted properly. It sounds like he was trying to get himself killed. Police officers have every right to defend themselves, and they have a duty to protect everyone else. It is a sad situation, nevertheless.

stronghunter said...

Good news, Glo. Thank goodness, the surgery is over.

Glo - I can feel the relief you are feeling right now! God Is Good!

Lolly said...

Glo, thinking of your daughter frequently today. Please keep us posted!

Yes, very blessed with dear, long friendships in our small church. We raised our children together and now growing older together.

Our children call Annie....GranAnnie! Joseph loves her but Jacob barely remembers her. She sent a vocal text to Joseph Monday. He sent her a sweet reply!

Came back in to see if there was news from you, GLO, and it's just what I wanted to hear! Tucson is my home town and there are at least 5 top notch hospitals there. However, it's important for a patient to hold his/her doctor in high esteem and I fully understand Becky's choice in this instance. The docs seem to know what to look for and I'd feel pretty confident that the "thing" is benign based on his look see. Hope she's now resting comfortably and will get some good sleep tonight!

LOLLY, what an inspiration Annie is to all you who are blessed with knowing her and for all of us who are blessed to know her story!

JANET, glad the Nashville story is not quite as bleak as some these days. Still so sad that we're all in jeopardy every time we leave our homes.

JO, I knew you were in for a grand and glorious day! Yeah! Oh, yeah, some vanilla ice cream is a must when indulging in peach pie!

SANDI, seems to be the season for upset pups. Penny lost her cookies this afternoon. She tried to warn me something was happening as she sat down by the back door. I just couldn't get my shoes on and her leashed up in time. She took a nap after that and is now as feisty as ever. I will be watching her closely, but figure she probably snapped something up off the ground earlier in the day. Thanks for the DANA update---hope they're having a wonderful beach vacation!

Now to catch the last of the News Hour, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Again, praying for all in need!!!

Glo, I know you're still anxious for those biopsy results but I'm glad Becky got encouraging news from the surgeon yesterday. He's the expert and I doubt that he would say benign if he wasn't pretty certain.

Jo, special prayers for you to get encouraging news from your doctor visit today.

Have any of you noticed how much more competition there is for your hummingbird feeders lately? I have the "resident pairs" at all 3 of my feeders, plus all of the immature hummers born this year and some adults that are just "traveling through." I sure do love watching them.

I am optimistic that the supplement the doctor gave Jenni will correct the problem with her liver enzymes. She's just acting too normal to be seriously ill. Coincidentally, the blood test that the vet ordered that I complained about paying for without being asked is the one that picked up the elevated levels so it's good that it was done.

Today is my initial appointment with the new periodontist. Hopefully she will feel that I'm a good candidate for laser surgery.

Have agreat day all!

Good morning everyone. I haven't heard anything from AZ yet today but I am sure that I will in time. I kept the phone by my bed all night with instructions to call. I am so very glad yesterday is over.

Having said all that I can hardly believe how quickly folks are now released from recovery. She was only there for 2 hours Sent out the door with a pain shot and a cup of ice chips to make her 1 1/2 hour trip back home. The nurse in me was not very pleased but that is how insurance practicing medicine now works. Told her to text me when she potties if she remembers" :-) Gave her some late evening instructions of what to drink/eat before taking her pain pill. Hoping she did get some good rest last night. I did once I was asleep.

Good afternoon,

Just back from leaving Luna at the vet's. Her right hind leg is swollen. We thought it was one of her cysts, but decided last night it should be seen, and now she is hospitalized. X-rays and blood work is being done. Possibly a cyst ruptured internally, but maybe snake bite, Rocky Mountain fever, Lyme's, or some such thing.

I really need a nap.

Sandi said...

Hi all.

Shirley, sorry to hear bad news about Luna; I hope the vet can quickly find the source of her swelling and the fix is an easy one. Sounds like the vet bill could be rather large. I sure hope it's not Lyme disease. Snake bite, really??

Glo, update on Becky - how is she feeling today??

Great news from my periodontist appointment. She doesn't feel that I will need surgery at all - either laser or traditional surgery!!! She told me about some home care things that I should do differently and had me buy something called TePe interdental brushes to use along with floss. She wants me to try the new home care routine for a month and then come back for an update and a periodontal cleaning, even though I just had a regular cleaning in July. Sounds just fine to me!!! Jo, I really owe you one - if you hadn't suggested looking into laser surgery, I never would have found this periodontist!

Need to find out where my niece and great nephew are in their trip from Missouri to here - they're supposed to arrive this evening but I haven't heard anything from Rebecca about what time they left home.

Later.

Lolly said...

Good afternoon! Prayer and hugs for Jo!

Shirley, so sorry about Luna. Hoping for the best!

BECKY UPDATE Just finished a nice conversation with her on the phone. She sounds like she is doing pretty well. Sore as can be of course but able to drink and eat some which means she can take her pain pills as prescribed. She is home alone with several easy things to eat and or drink very close at hand. Hoping we will hear test results tomorrow.

Judie said...

Good not-so-late afternoon.

Had hoped Jo would be back from the CT but feeling very confident about the results. Live cam is up and running. MT nest.

Glo, so happy Becky is awake and able to get some food and liquid down. Being alone means quiet time and that means sleep and healing.

Shirley, so very sorry about Luna being hospitalized. Wish with all my heart she will be diagnosed with an easily treatable condition. Sending pup-prayers.

Sandi, very good news from the periodontist. You must be so relieved. Darth uses what I think are those tiny brushes and they seem to help him. Hope the guests arrive soon.

Wonder if Kay is still not feeling well? Hope she stops by soon.

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Nest is empty. Grass is growing there. Should need to be mowed soon.

Got a call from Kathryn. She has talked to the vet and vet thinks that the cyst burst internally and drained into Luna's leg, which is what we thought originally. She will be on antibiotic pills--we already have those because vet had given us a supply for just this type of incident.

Vet said that we always bring her complicated stuff. We can't just have normal issues.

Re snake bites: Vet said that they have had lots of issues with snake bites this summer. One dog looked as if it had gotten into a nest of baby copperheads, but that dog was in pain. Luna was not in pain. Swelling but no pain is what happens with these cysts.

Today was kind of challenging because the person answering the phone at the vet office thought I needed to drop everything and immediately rush Luna in. I was trying to pick up things and get ready for the maid to come. Since the swelling had been going on for 2 days already, I couldn't quite see the urgency. However, I arrived at the office in yesterday's dirty outfit and with my hair in a wild state. (I did pick up a few things in the house.)

I am now being visited by a purring kitty. Very loud purring for such a small kitty. She likes the squishy blankets I have on my bed.

stronghunter said...

Good news about Becky.

Happy birthday, Robyn.

stronghunter said...

We were asked if Luna goes outdoors unsupervised since she is blind. Yes, she does go into the fenced backyard and manages to do okay. However, it would not hurt for Hunter to mow the grass before it gets so tall that snakes might want to hide there.

Mema Jo said...

Nap time over - My appointment was at 1:30 and I was home by 3:00. The CT went very
well - The drink before the scan is now water with of course an tasteless ingredient to make you glow inside - it used to be a thick yucky drink.
When I got home I ate since I had to fast 2hrs before which meant no lunch. Then my feet went up.

We are getting some light rain - all day it has looked like a storm was going to happen

My dinner is going to be much later today then usual......

Mema Jo said...

Sandy that is good news you have received. I am happy to have been of service to you ♥

Shirley - happy that Luna will recover and I love a purring kitten.

glo said...

Get some rest MeMa Jo I am glad the stuff you drink now is tasteless instead of yucky. I am about to take Patches for a short walk. Weather here is really nice.

Good late afternoon, Eagle Buds!!!

Oh, dear JUDIE, sorry I had you a wondering. Just let the day get away from me--lunch with a friend, shopping, a nap and a couple of dog walks. Just can't seem to get much done in one day anymore! Hope you and Darth enjoy that dinner out!

JO, glad the CT went well--last few I've had involved drinking something much like lemonade--sure beats the old icky "shakes". Hoping the results are exactly what we're praying for!!!

GLO, love the glowing (no pun intended) report on Becky! Home along already? She's a tough cookie just like her stalwart mother!

Happy Birthday to Robyn! Hope you and Torie are doing something special to celebrate!

SHIRLEY, so relieved to get to the final lines and find that Luna seems to have escaped with just a bursting cyst. Scary to think of him blindly ambling around the yard with possible venomous snakes. Hope that constitutes a wake up call for your lawn boy!

SANDI, WOW! Thank goodness Jo made that suggestion. Sounds like you've found a very ethical and practical periodontist and I hope the measures she is suggesting do the trick for you! Also relieved to hear that little Jenni is perky! Enjoy the week with your company!

JUDY, feel better soon!

LOLLY, sorry we're back to doing rain dances for you Texans. Wish Mother Nature was able to even out the moisture across the land. Too bad the folks in the Northwest can't get some drenching deluges to quell the horrible fires!

Tis' a glorious, day here with a high of about 70---not our usual August and it's been a great State Fair week!

Prayers for all in need!!!!

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Jo, when do you return to see the doctor and discuss the CT results?

Glo, hoping for excellent news for Becky today. I'm glad her recovery seems to be going smoothly so far.

Shirley, this occurred to me yesterday. When I taught 5th grade in the 80s and 90s, I always read aloud the book Taxi Cat and Huey to my kids - they LOVED it and so did I. Huey is a basset hound who is perfectly comfortable in his life with his owners until his people adopt a cat named Taxi who thinks he's a Ninja. I think the book may be out of print, but if you could get your hands on a copy, I bet it would make you smile.

It rained all night and more rain is what we're supposed to get ALL day today AND tonight. Wish I could send it to TX!! Not sure what we'll find for Jacob, who is 9, to get into today.

Have agreat day all.

I got a pop-up on my laptop yesterday that Windows 10 is ready for me to install. I don't think so. Denny installed it on his laptop last week and says it's not much different from Windows 8.
