Thursday

A juvenile bald eagle approached the nest tree this morning, and was chased off by the adults.  You may have heard the ruckes, around 6:45 am.

Thanks to STEVE and JUDY for the new thread and call over!

So a "perhaps former resident" is stirring up trouble again. Hope Belle n' Shep scared it away for good.

Also hope JUDY finds her bonnet soon.

SANDI, I'm tickled pink for you!!! Next school year is going to be so different for you---wonderfully different!

On to mail, newspapers, etc., but will be lurking.

Prayers for all in need on this glorious Spring day!!!

I'm glad the Intruder got chased away by Belle and Shep. Maybe a fledgling from this next remembering how much good chow was provided and finding being out on one's own ain't all that great! There is plenty in the larder and the kids are just snoozing...

Good morning,

Thanks for the new thread and the information, Steve, and thanks for the call-over, Judy. I am sure you will find your bonnet of feathers.

Those two eaglets are looking darker and darker as their feathers grow in.

Yes, Judy, I am having trouble keeping the live feed up as well.

I seem to have lost my computer mouse. Dang. I will probably just go to the store and get another one. I really miss it.

Thank you Steve for the fresh thread and the update.

JudyE, have you checked Jordyn's closet for your missing bonnet?

Nice visit at the cardiologist office. Numbers are all good except the LDL was a tad high as were triglicerides. She's happy. Back in four months.

Grocery shopping done.

Friends stopping by later this afternoon for a hi and how are you.

Nest looks quiet. Two eaglets plotzed a few minutes ago.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I saw this morning my Radiologist and I am a good candidate for the

be receiving a week's Chemo.
That's it! I'll give you schedule whenever it is decided.

Good afternoon eagle friends. Haven't watched our family yet today. Did a little shopping at the nearby outlet mall for my upcoming trip to Alaska next week. It will be highs in 50's while I am there, so no new summery things. There are 5 high school soccer games to attend, so wool socks and my raincoat are on the list. I did find a sweatshirt hoodie that will do as well.
I had some pine Siskins at the feeder this morning. I'm afraid I will miss the grosbeaks and indigo buntings if they don't hurry on up here from WV. Send them along you folks in Bluefield!

Just a quick check in on this new thread - headed out for the teacher of the year dinner to support the young math teacher on my team who was chosen as the Teacher of the Year from our school and is in the final 3 for the district teacher of the year. Will have to read back and catch up on this new thread tomorrow.

Good Afternoon, Eagle Buds. Having trouble getting the Live Cam on. Thx for report, Paula. That's one reason I got on---TV weather showed storm line around Rte. 66 and it's moving West, not the usual East!!
Hope everything stays OK up there. Be Back shortly....

Been an eventful day. Fortunately, things seem OK now. Got a message from Rus that he was in pain and about to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

He was taken to George Washington Hospital, and Susan got there almost immediately. Kathryn and I got there a bit later. So, we were on Judie's old stomping grounds at GWU.

At this point, the diagnosis is kidney stones. Cat scan showed nothing, so they think he probably passed them already. He is home now, pretty doped up, and we are getting ready to have some Chinese food.

Hunter is with his aunt and uncle down home.

Praises and Gratitude to The Lord above for JO's news! Yes it is doable. God keep you JO and your medical team.
Keeping you in prayers and am forever inspired by your way of reporting your news. As SHAR says, " when I grow up, I want to be just like you." Glad there is no wait. Glad for the rate of success, glad for your determination and strength. God Bless You MEMA JO.

Shirley. Good grief, what news! Prayers for Russ. If he passed them all, he will feel better soon.

Not Live, but I put my Eagle Nest Photos from this Tuesday in the Nook. Enjoy---may not be able to get many shots anymore.

Lolly, glad you don't have a serious shoulder problem, even tho it's painful. Prayers for you and Jo. I agree w/Hoda. Want to be like Jo if I ever grow up.

For Judie and all---Kitty update.
The one of the two little/wild outside kittens, Tiger, still has sore, hairless skin on one side of neck. Other side is healing.
We were not able to catch her in garage to give meds, so will try to trap her and send her to clinic again to see if she can tolerate more shots. Having nightmares about them. She has an autoimmune condition, but acts pretty normal except for itching.
The two smallest ones' Mom, Panda, from the first kitten generation has been leaving here. I suspect if she gets hungry, she'll come by. Her sister, Lippy, would love to come inside, but is a loyal outdoor cat for now who greets you asap for petting and tummy rubs! Panda was the opposite.
All except, Punkin, the newest, were fixed females and they all hated him! That's probably why Panda left. He's been fixed & much gentler w/them, but they don't trust him. He is in and out, jumps on your lap, sometimes licks your chin, purrs--Loves everybody. The two fixed female housecats don't like him too much.

Shirley, good that Russ is comfortable. Hope the worst is over for him.

Loretta, what a catamanagerie. Thank you for the update.

Lynne1, what fun to prepare for your adventure. Glad you found some things to take along.

Hi Hoda! Are you dragon boating? Are you wearing your sandals without socks?

Tired tonight. Asked Sandperson to pack early. Y'all might be dozing off soon.

Restful sleep for all.

JudyEddy said...

Just read that JO said cams down

stronghunter said...

Hi,
Safely home. Thanks for your concern and kind words. I expect Rus will sleep soundly tonight.

stronghunter said...

"Catamangarie." Love it!

We had just left Rus's place when Kathryn realized she'd forgotten the cat food she had picked up while at the grocery store where they went for beverages to go with the Chinese food they bought. Fortunately, Susan noticed the forgotten food and grabbed it for her own catamangarie. She has 4 cats living in her apartment.

Lucky dined on dry food mixed with a little Chicken and Stars soup tonight. He was happy.

Good night, everyone. SED.

Mema Jo said...

Time to say goodnight to all ♥

I have sent email concerning both cams being down. I know on May 6
they are to be shut down due to noise
from training. That is the statement under the OD screen.

I'll let you know if IT emails me like they did today.

Sleep well ---- Rain has stopped

Lolly said...

Getting on to sy "Hi" as well s goodnight!

Sorry to her about an intruder at the nest.

Jo, so happy that this new occurrence can be handled quickly and in a manner that pleases you! Prayers for you! MRI time was spent partly in prayer fo you and cousins wife. Flo has been battling brain cancer for a year now. A new treatment started this week.

Cleaned my pantry today. Took everything out, threw away a lot, and rearranged. Awesome! A new pantry!

Then went outside and played in the mud! Another beautiful day, a few more to come, and then rain returns! PTL!! Lakes need more!

When the cam is up, I have a hard time keeping it. However, on my iPad it stays Up! Yay!

Night all! SED!

Hi, Everyone,

Well, it's been a busy day today!
Ken had been SO miserable with his sore elbow/arm that we went to urgent care this morning. Found out that although he MIGHT have tendonitis, he DEFINITELY has gout in that elbow. Golly, a double whammy! He now has some naproxen to take for pain, and he's taking his gout medication once again. By tonight he was feeling somewhat better! His elbow is less swollen and red, and he can move it without as much pain. Thank God!

It was hot as can be here again today. It seems as if every 3 weeks we get super hot weather for about 4 days! Was 97 here today, and should be 87 to 90 tomorrow. By Sunday we are supposed to have a high of 74, then low 70s through Thursday.

I'm not looking forward to summer!

Jo, so glad that your treatment can begin very soon, and that the success rate has been good in the past. Fervent prayers for your speedy and complete cure!

Shirley, hope Rus is feeling MUCH better by now. Kidney stones can be so horribly painful!

Well, need to try to get some sleep. Hope the Sandperson has done his job well, and everyone of us has a very restful snooze!
God bless, and goodnight. I ♥ us!!

Goodorming my eagle friends.

What a long, exhausting work week! And I have done very little on those 4 IEPs that need to be written by 5/11. So sadly, it is going to be a long, exhausting weekend of schoolwork. :(

Haircut at 10am, neighborhood watch luncheon at noon and then, all work all day. I did get my toes done yesterday after school - now if it would just be warm enough to show them!!

My BFF was missing in action yesterday - no text from her, no leasson plans. She was fine at 9:15 on Thursday night at the teacher of the year dinner. Actually, she was a little too fine - her behavior became more and more over the top as the night went on. Finally she admitted what I expected - that there was more than just club soda in her glass. And alcoholics love to lie to themselves and say they can handle a drink every once in a while.

Jo, prayers for you today and every day. You can do this!!

Have agreat day all.

Judie said...

Good morning.

Lovely sunshine and blue sky here. Need to check the critter cams.

Congratulations to William and Kate on their Princess.

Andy, very sorry about Ken's pain and hope he heals quickly. Sorry about the hot weather - not something I enjoy, either.

Also hope Shirley's Rus is fully recovered.

Nothing much on the agenda today. Maybe just putter around the house.

Off to visit the critter cams. Have a great day everyone.

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥

Happy day for me - I am getting an afternoon visit from Master Elliot and his mom and dad. I am very excited!

Mema Jo said...

Andy - so sorry to hear of Ken's elbow pain - I think any joint pain
is just horrible! Hope his meds can help him to where the pain goes away.

Sandi - hope the luncheon is serving good food ! You are a busy gal but when you retire you will have things to do and enjoy!

Shirley - sorry the winery trip fell through - would have been a beautiful day for it. Have fun with your friends at the alley!

JUDY - You really are not a night owl ! Hope your work day goes fast so you can go home after the towers and nap.

Lolly - I'm sure you are getting excited about your upcoming trip.
Get that RV packed and head out.

Judie - critter cams are getting active - especially those little bear cubs

Loss of an eaglet at the IWS Two Harbors nest
May 2, 2015 — bald eagle, birds, Eagle, eaglecam, eaglet, IWS, nature, Two Harbors

Sadly, per reports from nest cam watchers and a later IWS report, one of the two chicks at the Two Harbors nest fell from the nest Friday afternoon. There is about a 300 ft drop from the side that the chick fell from so it was very unlikely to have survived. Hugs and condolences to all who love and watch this nest.

Mema Jo said...

Our oldest eaglet looks as though he grew into a Juvie overnight ! lol

All feathers seem to be good and black - I almost thought it was an intruder in the nest when I brought up the cam! He is walking upright just like a pro.

I see now that Ducky is still in the nest and looking good.

Good Morning Eagle Buds

48° at the nest

both are in the middle of the nest facing the same way Ducky is at 9
no adult in the nest at present

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Have been up since 6am but processing checks for the property owners association (174 of them to be exact).

Also ran several scans on my laptop. I'm trying to be diligent about scanning it on a regular basis. I pay for my antivirus so the virus scans are scheduled and run automatically, but Malware Bytes, Super Antispyware and CCleaner are all free versions so I have to start the scans manually. It seems that no one program picks up everything when it runs a scan.

Anyway, that's why I wasn't on earlier. I did watch our 2 youngins attempt some self feeding from the fish in the nest. They were getting the hang of stepping on it and then trying to pull pieces off and I think they both managed to get a little to eat. Now they are snoozing in the sun. A parent must be in the tree - I see the cam shake occasionally.

My goal is to finish another IEP today. Then I will only have 2 more to write - we will all have to have a virtual drink to celebrate when I finish the 4th and last one.

Still no news on the ELA teacher on my team. But I did get a phone call from our testing coordinator that she has a resource teacher on stand-by in case we need another teacher on the hallway so we can start state testing tomorrow. That makes me think she has heard that Kim will not be back tomorrow, though she wouldn't give away anything (our testing coordinator is a guidance counselor and they're really good at that confidentiality thing).

Prayers for all, especially Jo. Have a great day!

Judie said...

Good morning.

Ah, basking in the sunshine. Sure looks peaceful in nestland.

My apology to Mema Cougar for forgetting the Mema part. Good morning, Mema Jo.

Sandi, congrats on completing IEP #2. Yes, a virtual celebration will be in order. Will be interesting to know if BFF shows up. Good part is her absence has been anticipated.

Andy, very good news that Kubby is feeling better. Hope the healing continues.

Sad for the loss at Two Harbors.

Off to a sunshiny blue sky day. Think I'll just mostly do a lot of nothing.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

SANDI, glad you're nearing the end on those durn IEP's. I'm kinda worried about your MIA BFF---has anyone gone by her place to check on her? Could she be in need of medical attention or could she have hied herself off to a rehab facility? Inquiring minds await the next chapter in her sad, sad tale.

I'm following JUDIE's wise lead and heading out into the glorious sunshine and a day that will near 80°!

Will be watching our eaglets as they mature before our eyes--and their ducky, too!

Prayers for all in need!!!

Will be checking on the eagles in a bit. Relaxing for the moment.

So happy Jo had some Elliot time.

Hoping that your fellow teacher is located soon, Sandi, or is at least it is determined she is safe wherever she is.

Very sad about the lost eaglet.

Nice to know Ken is better.

Rus is doing fine. He showed up awhile ago to help Hunter build a catapult for a school project. They have gone to the store to buy supplies. Hunter was talking about using 2x4s. I hope everyone remembers that this thing needs to fit into my car if I am to deliver it to school.

Congratulations Sandi - sounds like you are on a roll !

Very beautiful day - one to be outside. However; my AC is ready to go if and when needed.

Two down, two to go! Time for some sunshine - I have 2 chubby dachshunds who could use some exercise.

BTW, got a text from my BFF that said, "I will call you - it's been a crazy couple of days." So she is alive! Stay tuned!

Good afternoon all. I was going to give a nest report, but JudyE beat me to it. I'll bet the kids are studying the world below them.

Planted some geraniums in the window box yesterday. I would love to be let loose in the plant nursery with a fat pocket. I will refrain from any more planting until I return from my trip in a few weeks. It was a beautiful day and I even got sunburn.

I hope everyone's is having a happy day.

JudyEddy said...

LYNNE1 do you use seeds for flowers? I have done that and its so much cheaper that live plants

Good Afternoon Eagle Buds!
See the nest is quiet with 2 napping chicks and their Ducky!!
Can't believe it's this warm today. Been in & out & up & down---laundry inside, getting some deck pots ready for new plants and perennials got fertilizer yesterday. I'm p.o'd that some pers. did not come back. Boo. I might wait awhile to see if they start.
On Sat., I saw a mystery medium size butterfly flitting through the entire magnolia tree. It has new leaves, no flowers. It was kind of brownish w/a few spots. Have to see if some like that come out this early. Saw starlings starting to nest next door in a hole in tree trunk. Squirrel who came too close got dive bombed!

Congrats to Sandi!!
Good Health Prayers for Mema Jo and everyone else ☺ ♥

Loretta you have an active back yard!

grannyblt said...

Judy, I use seeds for some things, like morning glory and green beans, but with a much shorter growing season than you have, I rely on starts from the nursery.
Yes, Jo, I realized that geraniums do much better than impatiens in the window box. And they lasted until the frost.
BTW, I saw the first of season hummingbird today..

good morning to all. just finished reading up on all your doin's..... sounds like everyone had a great, productive weekend!

it was sunny and warm all weekend and such is anticipated all week.

Saturday was grocery day. and then in the evening tom and I went out and celebrated our wedding anniversary, albeit a week late. lol. no company, grandkids, or ailing pups this weekend!

slept LATE yesterday. think I was tired. spent the day outside in the sun an d got the pool up and going. it isn't difficult, but has to be done step by step...put the pump/filter unit back out, fill with sand, hook up hoses, make sure they have enough plumbers tape not to leak, etc etc etc. by evening it was full again and we put chemicals in. it is so pretty this morning.

too cold for me to get into quiet yet, still only about 68. but with this sun it should warm nicely!

school days are winding down.
i'll be glad for the break!

and not this weekend, but next I go camping!

LOLLY: know you are excited about your trip!

STRONGHUNTER: how much longer does HUNTER have before his school is out?

SANDI: rock on. You got this. a few more IEP's and you are out the door.!

Good Morning, Everyone,

I'm up early today, so dropping in to say howdy before I get too busy. We were supposed to meet Sis-in-law for an early breakfast today, but she had to cancel. Her bulldog, Charlee, has a runny nose and is sneezing like mad, so she's taking her in to the vet as soon as they open. Could be an allergy attack, or maybe a respiratory infection. Better safe than sorry!

It was much cooler here yesterday, and our breeze from the ocean is back in place! Supposed to be in the 70s and high 60s this week, with a chance of showers on Friday. That's more like it! Thank God for some relief from the heat!

Can't believe how big the eaglets are getting! It's truly amazing!

Ken continues to improve. His elbow still complains a bit when he moves a certain way, but it's SO much better than it was!

Oh--slight interruption--had a phone call from an insurance company with a quote. (At 6 am?!)
Would you believe our homeowner's
insurance company cancelled our insurance?! (Gee, thanks.) As soon as our claim for the slab leak was closed, we got a cancellation notice in the mail!
We're having to look for a new company before June 15th. Aargh!

Well, need to do some laundry, so better get it done early. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! I ♥ us!

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥
I was up around 7am and went back to sleep until 10! That is so late for me. Wow it is already up near 75° and 79° at the nest. I guess we'll see some panting eaglets today.

Mema Jo said...

Andy - that just doesn't seem right about the insurance cancellation.
Any chance you can get Homeowners with whomever you have car insurance.
After all repairs they should know
you are not a threat anymore.

Mema Jo said...

This afternoon I start with getting
my body cast made for the Cyber-knife
Then later I get a navigational CT for the Cyber-Knife programing.
Probably won't be until Friday for
the treatments to start.

No Chemo for now!

Kay said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

JO, "no chemo for now" is music to the ears! Good luck as you do all the Cyber-knife prep stuff!

ANDY, doesn't an insurance cancellation just fry ya? Those companies beg for our business and then bail on us on the few occasions when we have to use the policies. Arrrrrggggghhhhh. Perhaps you should call the BBB and ask for a mediator, unless you'd just a soon quit doing business with such a company. Remember, word of mouth works, maybe you could share the name of that co. on our Yahoo mail, as a buyer beware notice for us????

I had a heck of a time getting the cam to come up, but finally did. Eaglets comfortably basking in the sunshine--a lovely sight!

Whoops, I spoke too soon. It's on again off again---probably due high viewership.

Shirley, how large is the catapult? I can't even estimate the number of projects I helped the kids haul to school over the course of raising 3 students. Parents/grandparents deserve extra credit for that!

Tee-hee JUDY, "may the Fourth be with you", too!

Prayers for all in need!!!!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Judie said...

Good almost noon time.

I see the eaglets are progressing to the familiar positions of "wow, what a big world out there."

Have already had a nap. Jo must have put a "nap spell" on me. Now must tackle a couple of inside chores.

Jo, very good news it seems that the cyber knife can be used. I recall that was your choice originally. Thoughts and prayers and hugs, as always.

Andy, it seems if you and Kubby were not the cause of the problems, you might have a case for unfair homeowners insurance cancellation. At a minimum, a call to the BBB might provide advice/guidance.

Okay, on to my chores.

ANDY I would call the insurance commissioner on the co I think that is uncool for them to do that Let them know that you just filed a claim I think in Fl that is against the law to cancel it

""Ozzie, the bald eagle from the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam has been moved to the small flight enclosure. He was scheduled to be relocated there last week, but due to inclement weather, he was moved to a smaller enclosure that had better coverage to protect him from the rain. Ozzie now has full range of motion of both wings and will continue to wear carpal bumpers and tail guard to prevent additional injury. In the small flight enclosure, Ozzie will have opportunity to take small flights to build his strength and fully expand his wings. No release date has been scheduled. ‪#‎ozziebaldeagle‬

Good evening all.

Found out this afternoon that the English teacher on my team will be out for the rest of this year - "medical reasons" is the only explanation we were given.

When I got home, I got a text from the ELA teacher that she was OK and had met with the personnel director today who told her she would not be coming back to school this year. I texted her back and said we had been given no explanation and asked if she was willing to share any info with us. She texted back that she was not allowed to say anything but asked for prayers.

I then texted the principal and asked him to meet with all of the teachers on the team first thing tomorrow morning so we are all on the same page with what we say to the kids when they ask questions.

Andy, that really sucks about the insurance company! I have heard of the same thing happening to several of our friends and neighbors. Like Kay said, you pay your premiums every year for the express purpose of having the insurance if/when you need it. But when you need it, they turn around and drop you for filing a claim! GGGRRR!!! I HATE insurance companies - what a scam!!!

Had to grocery shop tonight and here it is 9pm already! I am headed to the bathtub and then to bed. State testing looms!

Goodnight all - see you in the early AM!

Judie said...

Jo, so pleased for you that the procedures this afternoon went nicely. You and Mr. Jo sure deserved that ice cream cone. Yum!

Sandi, is this English teacher the same as the BFF or is this a different person? I am getting on in years and become confused. Not lol. Your request, however, is a reasonable one so everyone knows what to say to the children.

Got a call earlier from a former student who is now a homicide detective in Houston. She has a particularly nasty case. She'll solve it, I'm sure.

So, again tonight I am very tired and not enjoying the aches and pains. Headed to the pillows in a few minutes.

Sandperson is packing a satchel and will be on the way soon. Restful sleep for all.

Mema Jo said...

Goodorming my eagle friends.

Judie, yes - the English (aka ELA) teacher IS the gal I refer to as my BFF. The fact that she is no longer in the building makes my life simpler b/c her behavior was so erratic that it was often difficult for me to work with her. But things had improved between us lately. I suspect that she was stopped by the police on the way home from the teacher of the year dinner where she had too much to drink and she failed a breathalyzer test. She has at least 1 DUI on her driving record, maybe more. I am thinking rehab?

Jo, prayers continue for you.

Happy day to all.

Good morning,

Happy birthday to Carolyn!

Happy birthday to Bob!

Just finished my second cup of coffee and am kind of awake.

Riding around today with a catapult in the back seat. The car smells of freshly-cut lumber. Hunter wants to take it in to his teacher after school today, so I had him put it in the car this morning. That way I can deliver it when I pick him up this afternoon.

We had a quick trip to the ER with Hunter yesterday evening. He had a possible reaction to medication for a sinus infection. All is well now. Two ER trips in less than a week is quite enough, thank you. We were there with Rus on Thursday and there with Hunter yesterday.

stronghunter said...

Hi, Lynne1. I need to try attracting some Baltimore orioles. I don't think I have ever seen one. Just hung a pot of red geraniums on the back porch for the hummingbirds, just in case they want to visit when I don't have the feeder out there.

Still reading Virginia's book. I did find her references to Shepherdstown and Martinsburg. Also a mention of the Hunter and Sample family--my ancestors. :) I am now on the part about the Battle of Chancellorsville.

grannyblt said...

Shirley, I am on chapter12. Must be really fun to read your kin's names. Glad my Great grandfather wasn't, as far as I know, in any of those battles. William Beard sure spent a lot of time in the infirmary. That may have saved his life. I hope to finish the book before my trip, but it is not at the top of the list today.

The Orioles like my quince bush. Last year they went through a couple of jars of jelly in my oriole feeder. I have never had luck putting out oranges.

Kay said...

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

A soggy one here after 12 hours of rain. Happy to have the rather smelly mulch applied by landscapers last week watered down. Hope it takes away that odor. Think it's called "coffee mulch", very dark in color and spiffy looking.

Speaking of things that are dark in color, I do so love seeing two black lumps of thriving, happy eaglets in their favorite spot this morning. Looks like the ducky is almost history.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB QUINN! Wishing you a "picture perfect" day!!!

SHIRLEY, I love the smell of fresh cut lumber, don't you---though I'm sure you'll be glad when the catapult is safely in the hands of Hunter's teacher. Here's hoping you've seen the last of ER for a very, very long time!

LYNNE1, I've seen just one Baltimore Oriole here in Central Ohio---at the Ohio State Wetlands Area. He must have blown in from your neck of the woods.

SANDI, thanks for clarification--so glad your BFF is receiving some kind of help/confinement and that she'll never again figure in your life as she has for a couple of years now.

Prayers for all in need as I head into lurk mode!!!
