Have had quite a busy day today. Spent a lot of time in the kitchen, making ground turkey stroganoff and Brussels sprouts for dinner. Also took a 1 1/2 mile walk. Did a couple of loads of laundry, too. Happy to say that I'm done for the night!

Belle is certainly plotzed in the nest tonight! Guess I'll go into lurk mode for a while to see if she wakes up and lays another egg.

Yes, Lynne, Kathryn gave him a pain pill and a muscle relaxer. I think something bad is going on with him. He is dragging his hind legs. I had thought I would sit here in the recliner so I could watch over him for awhile, but am wondering if both dogs would settle down better if I went upstairs.
Will wait a little while and then decide.

I have been reading and keeping an eye on Belle. Going to make a prediction....I almost never do that. I predict an egg by morning. She just has not relaxed tonight and is sleeping in a funny position.
Thinking of Lori and wishing her the best tomorrow and in the days to come.
So sorry about Flash. Must be rough to see him in pain.
I am now heading to the shower. Will leave the cam up so I can peek in one more time before bed.
The fire has been great tonight, warmed up the room. The bedroom will be cold. Brrrrrr!

Belle is tucked now.
Went down to check on Flash. He was still dragging himself all over the house. His back legs seem paralyzed. Will set up his crate and we put him in there. I don't know if he will sleep, but at least he is confined so he can't hurt himself.
Belle looks odd. Maybe in labor. There was some kind of cry. I think from her, and she is holding her wings away from her body.

I was not watching the cam when I heard the cry, but I am pretty sure it was Belle. She was up moving around and settled back onto the eggs facing 11:00. Not tucked and still holding her wings away from her body, but not moving at all.
She is up and re-positioning. I only saw two eggs. Now facing 5:00 and tucked. I am wondering if that egg is trying to come out.
She woke up briefly, but is now tucked again.
Someone asked if Susan got the items she ordered. She did. When the package did not arrive from Victoria's Secret, she contacted them and they re-sent it.
Going to try to sleep now. I just could not relax with poor Flash so agitated.

Do you know what was wrong with Belle's eye MAGPIE? How did it look?
well, T, we were noticing some smudgy type markings under mostly her left eye.
She acted normally and she was blinking her eyes like normal....
possibly she just got her whole face into some food early in the day
I think all is really okay, but it
showed up when she returned to the nest after a short time away in the morning two days ago
Mattie turned 15 today. That means she will take her test for her learners. Wow, yet again time goes by so quickly. I absolutely cannot believe Mattie is 15. Justin will be 18 in April.

Kind of slept a little bit. Had hoped to hear Lori, but just barely missed her. I chatted a bit with her on WWF before she went to work.
I have to call the vet and then get Will to help me get him into the car. He will have to be carried out.

Thanks to all of you who have posted kind words about Flash.
He is at the animal hospital now. Things do not look too good. Kathryn and I have discussed the options. We would be facing a $5,000-$10,000 expense with no guarantee. He has no feeling in his back legs. We just cannot afford that kind of expense.
I really need some sleep.
Shirley, it is quite understandable. 5 to 10 thousand is a lot of money. Prayers are with you.

At least she won't have the experience Kathryn had when she got her learner's. Her dad took her and had the twins in the back seat.
He had her drive home with the twins in the back seat screaming, "We're gonna die! We're gonna die!"
Shep left the nest. Lots of eagle speak in the attic. Cam shook. Expect Belle in the nest any minute. There she is!

Sincerely sorry about Flash, Shirley. That is just so much money especially with the outcome questionable. As with people, our furry family members also deserve quality of life decisions. My thoughts are with you and the family.
Oh Shirley, that is so sad about Flash. Prayers for all of you.
Kathryn just called again. She told the vet that surgery is just too expensive for us. They have decided to try steroids for now.
It is a hard decision when it comes to that kind of money, but we have to put the people first, and that amount of money could easily cause serious sacrifices for us.
The vet thinks they might be able to help him with the steroids. We will need to restrict his activities and provide a ramp so that he does not have to climb the back stairs.
We'd already talked about a ramp before. It would be good for Luna as well, since she has trouble with her vision.
Quality of life is a big concern, though. We will have to see. Both Kathryn and I thought that this was going to it for Flash. Kathryn even talked with Hunter this morning.
Lynne, I do hope that vets provide extra uniforms for their workers. The kind lady who carried Flash into the office got a thorough soaking of pee. I am appreciative for sure. I think I am probably beyond the point of being able to carry around around 60-pound dogs.
And, I had a good conversation with a very gracious golden retriever while I was in the waiting room. His owner said that he (the retriever) was most concerned about the dog who was carried into the office.
I can just see Hunter tearing up and down a ramp. Oh my.

Kathryn is to call at 5:00 to learn if Flash will be able to come home tonight or not.
I really thought that he would not be coming home at all. I am hoping and praying that he is going to recover, but he seemed really bad to me.
