Oh, and Hoda and Judy E. Thanks for your comments and feedback last night..I was not sure who here knew about the Norfolk nest or about WCV. (I just read back)
For those who do follow WCV, my daughter is Amanda Nicholson.
(oh, and I went to the release of the "Rock Stars"--the 3 eaglets of the form the 2011 Norfolk nest. It was an awesome event. Have also been to visit NBG-and yes, that airport is right there. You can see the runways from the lake.
Anyway, enough talk about that. The current mess with the permits to remove all nests has everyone in an upheaval.
I am here now for this Shepherstown nest. And it is fairly close to me. I can bee there in under an hour.
Was awesome to see it last year. Sycamore Palace is lovely. I took pics when I was there--even though only with my poor old point and shoot. If there was a way to post them here I would. (could see one of the eaglets peeking up and out over the side. That was at the end of April, so they were pretty big by then. And then I got to watch while one of the parents flew in with a fish! It was awesome!
Lydia, you were there on Earth Day? That's when a bunch of us were there as well.
You can create your own blog and post the pictures there. It's not too hard to do!
Lydia, you are so lucky to be close to the nest. I live in north Texas but have been to the nest twice now. I love this group! They can not get rid of me and I'll be back some day!!!
I wish I had a nickel for every time I have deleted the word Lib and put in Shep instead. Lib is kind of well permanent fixture in many a heart on this Blog. Shep however is letting us earn about how a male eagle learns to be a dad and he is doing good. Seems to be a typical male though at times LOL "just kidding"
Home from church and what a fun day. It is our church's 50 anniversary. Young for a lot of churches but significant for us! We had a lot of grown children and former members visiting today. After the service we had a catered barbeque lunch and a great program.
Got home and we had a message. A good friend of Jack's from work died yesterday. He has now rushed to a meeting where he is helping the family to write the obit.

Eagle came down from the tree, moved the stick...whacked out the cam for a moment!

Paula, thank you for noticing the differences in Belle and Lib's tail feathers. Nice to recognize them from the back and not have to wait to see the top of their heads.

Yea, it really helps. Hers is pretty straight across. Also, not as much of her white tail feathers show.
Oh, I got the home page of the Yahoo group updated. I also put more detail in another file titled "History of egg laying".
Temp really starting to drop here...clouds rolling in. Some Freezing rain and/or sleet is expected overnight, then rain tomorrow.
IEP is written.
Upstairs is dusted and vacuumed.
3 upstairs bathrooms are cleaned.
Laundry is washed, dried, and folded (not put away yet).
I am DONE working for the weekend!!
Well, not quite - still have dinner to fix!
But I will allow myself to relax for a while and watch Miss Belle sit on her eggs. Sometimes I wish that's all I had to do all day long. Then again, I would probably be bored out of my mind!
I'm going to go out on a sycamore limb and predict a 3rd egg and I'm going to say it arrives tomorrow evening or some time during tomorrow night.
Hoping for news from Lynne that she and Steve have a new home.
Just got an email from older son, Brian. He has really gotten into this ancestry.com stuff. Background on my father's father is non-existent. You see, my grandmother was an exotic dancer in a circus when she was very young. When I read the book and watched the movie, Water for Elephants, I kept thinking about my grandmother as one of those dancers! =)
She got pregnant by one of the musicians who traveled with the circus and, voila, my dad was born! Don't know if she actually even married the guy but his name is on my father's birth certificate. Because the circus was no place for a baby, my dad was left with his aunt and grandmother who raised him.
This guy was never mentioned by my grandmother or her sisters and my dad never knew him. But Brian has discovered where my dad was born and just ordered a copy of his birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Records in Chapin, South Carolina. Since he's still in Tanzania for a few more weeks, it is being shipped here. So I am now expecting a copy of my father's birth certificate which no one in the family has ever seen. Pretty cool stuff!!
By the way, my grandmother eventually married a very respectable business man and became a very respectable nurse in California. I would imagine that the window for exotic dancers in the circus is probably pretty small! =)

Lolly, sadly I hardly knew her at all, since she was living in CA by the time my parents married and I was born. And, there was always a distance between my dad and his real mom b/c she didn't raise him. As a matter of fact, until he was about 12 years old, he called his mother Aunt Liz and called his aunt Mom.
My real grandmother only visited us twice in my lifetime and we exchanged occasional letters but we were pretty much strangers. And since my mom's mom died when I was 1 and my mom's dad died when I was 3, I never really knew any of my grandparents.
For that reason, it was very important to me that we live close to both sets of parents when my boys were young - I wanted them to have the experience of grandparents being a part of their lives that I never had. Never regretted that decision!
Thanks Paula. I will have to work on the blog thing. This is new to me. I am used to being a part of face book groups, but have not used blog till I cam here. I am still learning
Very interesting, Sandi. I felt the same way raising my boys, since I didn't know my grandparents very well either. Dad's dad died when I was 5, his Mom died before I was born. My grandmother in AL wasn't very interested in her children, or grandchildren or great grands.
Always knew my grandparents and raised very close to them. Then my kids knew their grandparents and knew them well, but only saw them a couple of times a year because of distance. Love being only an hour away from my grandkids and feel sorry for our parents that we lived so far away.
I hope that when and if we ever become grandparents, we can be a part of their lives. I really don't expect grandkids from Kevin ( I guess it's a possibility, but it would first require that he grow up himself and move out of his parents house!)
Brian and Lynnis sometimes talk about having children (other times, they say they think not). But they're also pretty certain that they will continue living abroad for at least the next 10 years. Kinda makes it hard to visit your grandchildren!

Okay Paula, not sure if I did it right, but I did put up some pics I took while I was at the nest last year in an album on my home blog page or whatever you call it.
This is all new to me, but now I see I can create albums and such. As I said, I am pretty proficient at FB, but this is all new to me.
I sure wish I would have had a nice camera last year like I have now. But I didn't, so not much zoom but still! They are there if anyone can see them.
I think I set them to public, not sure what circles are. LOL, I have a lot to figure out when I have time to learn

Sitting up in my room smelling dinner cooking. Kathryn came home with groceries and a plan for dinner. I set the table and left the kitchen to her.
I also went to the grocery store. We both figured that we could call the other one, or not. We did not. We have a full refrigerator tonight. It was pretty empty, so that is fine.

I was there last April--it was the last Sunday in April. I was there the Saturday before, but the NCYC gate was locked. On Sunday we drove by again and the gate was open and the guard let us drive up. He was quite nice.
When Momsters and Dadsters went for the gathering, did you make arrangements to get in? Or I guess Steve did?
Would love to come meet some of you. I will be away in Virginia for Jack Hanna weekend that WCV is doing over the weekend of April 20 and 21, so won't be able to come if you end up there doing Earth day weekend. But if anyone is going any other weekend let me know. Would love to meet you there.

I had a pretty good day today.
It was beautiful here and spring like. I think my winter coat was too heavy and is it possible that I will not be wearing boots for much longer? I could always hope.
I heard street musicians and some of them were very very very good and I also got invited to a Flash Dance on Thursday!!! YEP you read correctly a FLASH DANCE IN NELSON!!! First lunch out for Valentine's Day and then a flash dance...maybe I should start a bucket list!!! So funny as I am not sure what that is really!!! I am very very stoked as the young people here say!!! I will let you know more about the flash dance. I will attend!!!

had to pull over and use the binocs...I was not entirely sure they were not Bald Eagles until I could check...
and they were in an area where Bald Eagle has been spotted in the past

LYNNE2, HODA: no, not norovirus. not sure what is going on with her, but thanks. she seemed okay yesterday. guess dinner didn't agree with her????
i gave her my motherly thoughts on this.....baby 8 weeks old adn she hasn't slowed down one iota. used to be, first few weeks a baby was born you rested. women don't seem to do that now.....and i don't think she has fully recovered and her body's immune system is not strong....
just a mama's thoughts...
after the kiddos left yesterday, about 10:30, i went back to bed and slept til nearly 3 p.m. i was just wiped out. i do not deal well with a lack of sleep.
good grief people are nuts....a man tried to scalp his ex wife in murfreesboro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! egad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in front of their three kids....
i think people have lost their marbles.
bowling was good last night. the past few weeks we have accidentally one at least 1 game. last night, by 3 pins. i tweaked something in my posterior shoulder, in the rhomboids moving logs and branches on saturday. it took til the 3rd game to get that worked out and my swing back to normal.
we are still ranked in 12th (out of 14) place. :) :) :)
well need to get the kid up and ready for work. i wasn't worth too much yesterday. YOGA tonight!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
