JudyE-I can't wait to see Dolphin Tale, I just keep forgetting to get the movie. I will have to do that and have a movie night. Maybe this weekend.
Shirley-A fireplace at the bottom of the stairs is scary. Fire is one thing that has always really freaked me out. I always thought about one of those rope ladders, but never got one. Aric's bedroom is in the basement and his window is very small. We talked often about how he would get himself out. Thankfully, he is tall and thin and could shimmy out the window standing on his bed.Of course he also worried about getting Frisbee out the window.
Well it's Tuesday and I hope today goes as fast as yesterday. LOL! Getting geared up for a big week next week at school. My least favorite time of the year. Great to showcase what we are all about, but nerve wracking having people in and out of the classroom all the time. It's hard to teach and answer questions.

Finally got a view of an empty nest, but I see that the eagles were here earlier.

Haven't seen problems with the posts so far, but I did not shut down last night.
Another strange thing is happening, but this is just with my computer.
For some reason, the computer does not like my power cord. Same power cord I bought with the computer. I have tried unplugging, replugging, blowing on it, etc. The computer tells me that it is plugged in but not charging, though it seems to be charging. Odd.

Missed the eagles by the time I got the cam up at school. Did anyone else notice there's a new tweet about the nest? What a sad/strange/unfortunate (not even sure what word to use) this school year has been. When I came back from Christmas break, I was informed by the guidance counselor that one of my boys (I have 12 kids on my caseload, 10 boys and 2 girls) had been placed in a juvenile detention center on 12/28. Nice kid, very likeable, hard working - has had a rough life (being raised by foster parents for some time, no mom in the picture, dad is in jail). I am not privy to details but do know that he has been charged with a felony - I have to attend a hearing for him at some point soon. Yesterday, i found out that another of my boys (this one a real troublemaker in all of his classes) has been arrested and charged with several counts of burglary, theft, wearing a disguise during the commision of a felony, and other related charges. There was an article in the local paper that included his name and age, along with the names and ages of 3 other juvenile boys who were also arrested and charged! I thought papers couldn't give out the names of juveniles?? Anyway, no news yet on what's going to happen with him. Then this morning I was informed that one of my boys from 4 years ago, a young man I was very fond of, used a gun to kill himself on Sunday. Just makes me very sad - I want to be able to save them all!

I don't know who posts those tweets, Sandi, but they sure don't do it often!!! It took them a long time to post the one about the hatchling not surviving last year.
I talked with Sharon, Nila's sister this morning, and she is taking Nila to her home! YAY! And her home is right across the street from Becky! Happy about that. They are moving her out of CCU today to a regular room and then Hospice will work on getting the right equipment taken to the house.

Went to the movies Sunday afternoon and saw "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close". I sure hope the kid (Thomas Horn)in that movie gets nominated for an academy award. He was awesome.
Sandi, how very sad about the young man's suicide. I think that if the kids are charged as adults with felonies, their names can be published. Sure hope none of them were violent crimes. Scary.
Thanks, Red.....that movie sounds and looks really good. I rarely go to the movies...will wait for it to come on Pay Per View! There are several new ones I want to see....The Iron Lady for one.
Shar---good that things are working out for Nila to get out of the hospital environment. SO much better to go in the love of a family home.

Phew! Glad to be back, but just found that there were a bunch of posts not showing last night. Catching up is going to take a WHILE! Still have work to finish, and get in the mail at the P.O., so don't have time right now. (That's another thing--the Dr. wants me to Priority Mail the finished reports back to them 1-2 days BEFORE I e-mail them back! They prefer that I finish and return everything within a week, but this new thing gives me 2 less days to finish. Yikes!!! Better put my nose to the grindstone. Back later, I hope! BTW, still really cold outside--46--but not raining, although pretty soggy. Bet the gardeners won't be here today. Supposed to be windy here today, but no sign of it yet. MTBR... HAGD, everyone, and stay safe and warm! :o]

Glad to hear there are others who let papers and things pile up. LOL I am trying to do better. Had a man come on business to the house yesterday, so all piles are presently cleaned up. LOL Except for the highchair. The highchair is where I put things to take to Laurel's or Michael's. Did not realize what I was doing until one day I saw Jacob head straight to the highchair on his arrival. He knew that is where I put purchases for the boys. Stinker! He was the only one to figure it out! LOL
only way I could try to tell anyone about it was on the E-M emails...if I had facebook guess I'd have reached, more, sooner, or maybe through other email programs...there was Diann and I cruising through the Twilight Zone...

I am glad you all reported difficulty with the blog...I hope this posts...my problem is with the FONT and the size of the print. It is so small I can hardly read it. I changed it to largest on my own setting. It was on medium before and no difference at all...the earlier part of the blog is on the regular font size and script the latter part is tiny!!!

Well, surprise, surprise! The gardeners have actually showed up today, and hopefully, are not having too much trouble mowing the muddy swamp that is our yard!
Lynn, to answer your question, the Dr. is located in Los Angeles, and has a satellite office in the city of Orange. They do reimburse me for the postage--I bill them for it. Kubby doesn't want me putting miles on the car picking up or delivering stuff, and I guess that makes a lot of sense. We're good to go, as long as they pay me for it!

Sharon, Thanks for the heads-up about the NBG cam. Last year I could not get the cam at school so my students were never able to watch. Just tried the new cam and up it came! Now, if they just get some eggs laid there - I guess this will be a questionable year for them too, with a new, young female. Back from bowling. Just finishing up lunch as the phone rang. It seems that Hunter is not feeling well at school, so I will be heading out to pick him up as soon as I gulp down a couple of mouthfuls of tea.

SHARON Hospice at the home is a wonderful thing My two sister were with my mom at the end I was there for a while and they stopped in often and were there when you called Prayers for the family in the next couple of weeks Its going to be hard no matter how you look at it

SHIRLEY, Sorry to hear that Hunter is not feeling well but oh what a lucky boy to be with Grandma. When my boys were little, we were very fortunate that both grandmoms lived within 5 minutes of us and the boys' schools. If the nurse called me at my school about a sick child, I would simply ask, "Which grandmother picked up the last time? Then please call the other one to pick up this time!" =) I never had to take time off and the boys were delighted to get spoiled by a Grandma for the day!! We never paid babysitters either - there is NOTHING like a Grandma's love! When we built the house at the beach, long before we moved here full time, I jokingly told my mom and Denny's parents that we built the house with all the money we saved on babysitters and their pay-back was a free place to stay at the beach for the rest of their lives!
