Morning early birders,
Hope everyone's day goes well.

HODA, you are such an accomplished writer. There is an internet company, Demand Studio, that pays freelance writers for their articles. They have many formats & pay schedules. For some this is a full time income, or for others, like myself, it's a bit of extra part time income. You might want to check it out.

Have a great day everyone!
Off to make Taffy Apple salad and pudding cake.

Lori O. said...

Good Morning CarolAnne. Your Taffy Apple Salad and pudding cake are making me hungry! :)

JudyEddy said...

OTWIG BBAL

CarolAnne said...

LOL Lori,
Yesterday I made reindeer cake pops, figured I better make something a bit healthier too i.e. apple salad. The pudding cake is son's favorite, so that's a "have to have" on the menu.

Have finished coffee, now must really get back into kitchen!

T-Bird said...

Morning all on this raining, gray day.

Laying flat worked fine for 30 mins. until I started coughing! Back to recliner I went. Had a good night then.

How is everyone else??

Lori, really HAD to laugh about your Christmas tree!!!! I, too, LOVE the lights.....and that hanging it saves space, but in the bedroom?? LOL! Is there still room on there for YOU???
Are you staying home Thanksgiving or are you going to your folks??

T-Bird said...

Hedgie, I'm so thankful you had a good night. It is good to see you.

hedgie said...

CarolAnne, I can see that you are going to get bugged for recipes! What interesting sounding things you are making!!! SHARE, please!!!

Thanks for the Demand Studio info....will definitely check into it.....are the negative blogs about them just someone's hard feelings??

hedgie said...

T-bird, what are you getting into today??!!

CarolAnne said...

Hedgie - re: Demand Studios
For the most part the negative blogs are those who have been dropped for one reason or another. Occasionally it seems someone is adversely affected without a good reason. But you only get their side of story so hard to know for sure. I have had re-write requests, but have never taken it personally, just looked at it as a way to improve. Have even had a rejection or two. Didn't always agree with their reasons, but just moved on.

Will share recipes!

CarolAnne said...

PUDDING CAKE:
This is a great "children can do" recipe. Need cake pan, 1 angel food cake, 1 large box pudding mix-favorite flavor, coolwhip

1 angel food cake torn into pieces
Mix pudding according to directions
Pour pudding over cake pieces
Allow to firm up
Top with Cool Whip
Keep refrigerated!
Cool,light, yummy

Costume Lady said...

CarolAnne, that sounds GREAT and easy. I have been wracking my brain for an easy dessert for Thanksgiving dinner and this is IT!
Maybe some strawberries on top for decoration. Oh, yah!

Costume Lady said...

I typed a comment last night to Margy and Lori and found it still sitting in this box this morning.

FROM LAST NIGHT:
How's the finger, Margy? Be sure to give Jewels a hug from all of us for doing such a good job of keeping us informed about her Mama, she did a GREAT JOB!

LORI, the sleeping bag was brought by ups and is just waiting to find a home. You are so special to help our poor and homeless. I will let you know when we find a suitable
recipient

CarolAnne said...

Costume Lady - glad you like it. It's an easy recipe to dress up if so desired. With all the pudding flavors available it can be made for most any occasion/season/holiday.

CarolAnne said...

CAKE POPS - not really cake - easy as the pudding cake, but messier

1 pkg 8 oz cream cheese, SOFTENED
40 ginger snap cookies, CRUSHED
2 pkgs (8 sq ea) MELTED

Mix cr cheese & 2 c cookie crumbs until well blended
Shape into balls (about 30)
Place on wax papered cookie sheet
Freeze about 10 minutes
Dip in melted chocolate
To add decoration sprinkle with cookie crumbs, crushed candy cane, coconut, etc.
Keep refrigerated - inside becomes soft & creamy

Good Tuesday Morning Eagle Buds, coming to you from beautiful New Jersey ! Just began to catch up with this thread only, when I spotted Lynn's puzzlement over my flight. We did leave Columbus late, but USAirs crack pilots got us to Philly just 5 minutes late. Horrible traffic out of there, but we stopped to lunch a a good diner before heading home. All is well here ! DIL, Beth working at Food Pantry today, Lee teaching, so I'm happy to get puter time ! This evening we'll take Cooper to his Rock Climbing Club in Madison, and then look for a good place to eat while he climbs. I'm not enjoying Beth's Mac laptop, but will make the best of it.

SHIRLEY, dil is a skilled Scrabble player, but even so we'll play daily, giving me good mental exercise and her some good practice. Last night she got two Bingo's ! Final score: Kay 304, Beth 419 ! You could beat the socks off me too, I'm sure !

On to read more of the thread...

Now sit back and enjoy!

CarolAnne said...

WVDana - thanks for the comments on pics. Deer was actually a 12 pointer with 2 tines broken off. Yep, we will have meat to share for sure.

Agree with you on the whipped cream vs Cool Whip, but it is what my kids like (an acquired taste, I guess)

Ms Bookworm said...

Good Morning, Everyone!

Lynn, glad to hear that you were able to get such a good night's sleep!

Kay, good to hear from you! Glad your flight made such good time, and that you are enjoying your visit.

It's c-c-c-o-l-d here this morning--about 44, but going up to 70, they predict. Have been outside to unlock side gate for the gardeners, and now am trying to warm up a bit. Coffee to the rescue!

Thanks to Steve and the folks at NCTC for the live feed this morning--the nest looks beautiful!

Ms Bookworm said...

I have some bills to schedule for payment online, and more doctor reports to transcribe. Couldn't start my day without saying hello, though! Will be sort of in lurk mode. Have the sound turned up on the nest (hope it's working!), and will check back each time I finish a report.
Lori, Kubby and I may have to do an upside-down tree this year, with Emma around! Just had a tiny one atop the entertainment center last year. If we get a big tree, need a new one, since our old artificial tree's lights have quit working. Hmmmm.... upside down might work for us! :o]

Have caught up on this thread. You don't need my input on all the interesting chat and topics but must say I'm glad you checked in, LINDA. Such a difficult time for you. God bless your beautiful mother and keep her comfortable. Your being there is key for her I'm sure !

I've pretty much retired from cooking/baking, but enjoy all the food and recipe talk !

LORI, you are REALLY into Christmas ! Not this Scrooge ! I do minimal decorating now, but enjoy seeing what others put together. How about some pics once your decorating is all done ?

I see on EM that we are having am REM naming run off. Good solution since no name had a clear majority. A delay for a good reason. Thank you, PAULA !

I can't figure out how to view the cam with this computer, and Beth isn't here to show me. May not be back til' tomorrow, but I'm with you and our eagles in spirit all the time.

Also can't figure out how to get our symbols, but I heart U and send you 7 hearts for good measure !!!

RE: protecting Christmas tree. Over the years we have used many options. When baby was crawling we put tree in playpen & let baby loose to wander around. Our best/prettiest option was a piece of plastic white lattice from garden shop. Tree was in corner, so laid lattice on its side around front of tree. Puppies couldn't fit through the diamond shaped openings of the lattice, and its snowy white color looked good.

CarolAnne said...

As an aside: we now use the same lattice to block of the cat's litter boxes from the dogs. We just trimmed out one diamond so the cats can squeeze thru, but the dogs, now full grown can't get thru.

From Monday's comments:

Sharon I check out the engagement photos of Kelsey and Andrew. They are just "awesome" pictures of both of them The music with them is so perfect. Lord just watching that slide show you can fell "they are in love". (: Thank you so very much for sharing your son and future DIL.

Mema Jo it is so good that you and Jenny had that nice long talk. Very special that you can be there for her.

Shirley you'll have to do something to protect your bulbs. The squirrels do love them..and you might not have any left that you planted.

Linda so happy you checked in although no happy it is from your Mothers Hospital bedside. I know this has to be hard on you. Being there all day to see your Mother is getting what she needs. Does she have a Pastor or a Priest that could come in and speak with her. He could explain even though she is ready to go see Jesus. If God is ready for her then he will call on her. He could explain that if God is not ready for her and if God is allowing her to get better. Then she should take that as to what God wants at this time for her. I pray for her to have peace about if they take her off the ventilator that she is so scare of coming off of. Maybe by them slowly taking it down she will be able to see she can breath on her own and the fear will leave her. I know you have a lot on your plate down there. Making sure peace is between family members.Plus being there with your Mother. Prayers for you my friend and the family and you Mother during this rough and hard time. Linda you are God's Blessing to your Mother. For her to look into her daughters eyes and nod yes she is ready to go to the Lord. My heart just goes out to you Linda. May prayers and that God comforts you and sustain you.

wvgal_dana said...

Still from Monday:
After helping Mother all day. Running errands she needed. Opening the car door, bending to hook her seat belt, and closing the car door. Carrying in all of her packages. Her HANDS ARE REALLY giving her a problem. She does get tired easily now too. I told her after all we did Monday. That we both needed to take a day or two and rest up. So that I can pick her up to go out for Thanksgiving Dinner. She understood and yes that would be good.

This girl is WHOOPED and in pain. I hurt from the back of my neck to the ends of my toes and everywhere in between.

See where Kathryn is bringing home Din Din and where Chirstie is to pick up chinese for her and Lynn. So Dana is going to call in Dana's Din Din after she takes a nap. I'll call it in to Dana LOL lol

Sharon your avatar is so cute....I went in and enlarged it..Had to giggle (:

DanaMo I love the things that are different that you do with the children at school. (:

Linda I like your avatar of your Mother. She is rally a pretty lady.
Linda the purple is for Pancreatic Caner Awareness Month but November is also Lung Caner Month. That is why my avatar is a little different and not all purple. Due to a lot of friend have had Lung Cancer. So I wanted to represent "both" Pancreatic cancer and Lun cancer.

I believe I'm still commenting on Mondays comments:

Hoda are the rum/brndy Christmas Fruit Cakes very strong of the rum and brandy. In other words is a person was a very "light" drinker. Would eating it make them drunk??? I know that sounds funny and probably is lol but needed to know.

Mema Jo going to Uno's. Do they have a buffett there? Like Ci Ci's? Hope you enjoyed (:

I still miss Hank for Monday Night
Football!!!!!!!! Just is not the same with out that start up song of his.

Neat Lynn you getting the mail and a Cooley/Skins T-Shirt. I did write to Cooley and told him about you. Only gave about the Fairfax Hospital and your name. Sorry he didn't visit you...I'll have to speak to him about that lol

I will go check out Glo's picture so I can vote for which one. When I get a chance.

Thank you Hoda and others for thinking of me and Mother.

So glad Kay's plane landed and she should be with family by now.

Margy be careful at Cacapon State Park. My brother was up there to go fishing. He had NOT left the Parking Lot. When he turned and seen BEARS more than one. The park Ranger said they have had to re-locate some because they keep coming in the parking areas.

wvgal_dana said...

I think I am on Tuesday comments now:

Lori nice that today is your Friday. lol lol you hung the Christmas tree upside down from the ceiling?????? What was you drinking may I ask???? LO LOL LOL cracking me up!!!

DanaMo are you getting to eat Dinner before you have this pig out?

Andy it does sound like doctor sent you a lot of work right before Thanksgiving. I pray you can get it all done. Feel good and have a nice Thanksgiving Day.

Margy I think Thanksgiving Day is NOT suppose to rain...should be a nice day.

Lori O. said...

Guess I should clarify that the upsdsie down Christmas tree is a smaller tree specifically for the bedroom...the bigger tree will go in the living room. The hanging tree is definitely kitten proof, and there's three of those little rascals in the house now...not sure how I'm going to put up the big tree in the living room without it looking like a giant toy to them. Well, I did buy some shatterproof ornament bulbs, so maybe I should just put it up, sit back and watch them have fun. :)

Still trying to get my new puter to load my cams pictures, so hopefully tomorrow I can put a picture up of the hanging tree.

movin said...

My cataracts are getting worse...foggier and foggier, but I went to my Primary Care doc yesterday, got my flu shot and a quick exam.

They will get together with the insurance and mail me a referral to an ophthalmologist soon.

I can't drive now, so I'm very glad I finally found a low cost transportation program called "Access", which is run by our transit authority. Found out I was eligible just a few days before I had to use it yesterday. Just $2.70 each way anywhere in Orange County for just about any reason...groceries, movies, restaurant, sports. Eligible is eligible.

CarolAnne do you know where
Eau Claire, Wisconsin is? Ed's nephew that is a truck driver. Ed use to meet him pick him up and bring him here to house. Whenever he was in area. Now if he gets to area. He calls I pick him up and we go out to eat near where his truck is parked. He has two children going to college. Son just got engaged and graduates this June. His girlfriend graduates next June.

CarolAnne said...

Jim, I know the frustration of driving being curtailed. Due to vision problems cannot drive other than the immediate neighborhood. Hope they get things set up soon for you to get it corrected.

WVDana, I do know where EauClaire is, north & across the state from here. Very pretty part of the state.

Hoda said...

WVDANA I do not think that a person could get drunk on Christmas Fruit cake...rum and brandy to taste is all.

I am off to yoga and errands...Will I need skates or boots with grips????I have no idea it looks icy out there, but it also speaks of rain...off to my day's adventure laughing and hoping for the knowing of a sense of wellness...See you all later...

LIFE IS GOOD.

hedgie said...

Repeated thanks--to CarolAnne AND Lolly!!!!! LOL!!! I wrung it out of C/A!!!

Jim, don't understand the delay in the cataract situation. It's a no-brainer with Medicare! PLEASE get it taken care of pronto! Hope you will be able to get back "on the road again" after it's done. Good that you have the Access program in the meantime.

CarolAnne said...

Hoda, due take care out there in those iffy weather conditions. One slip & fall is one too many.

hedgie said...

Be careful, Hoda!!! No slippy-sliding!!!

BTW---no red alerts needed for Judie. She is okay. Busily embroiled in "deep" house cleaning!! She also needs to make pies to donate to the police officers on duty Thurs.!!!! She WILL find her way back to us SOON!

hedgie said...

CarolAnne, I looked everywhere for the white fencing last year with NO luck for anything higher than 8"!!! Not nearly high enough to deter that pup I had then!!!! I ended up taking the tree apart, bringing an old 15"-high table out of the basement and putting half of my tree on it.......Mai STILL managed to crunch 2 lightbulbs!

CarolAnne said...

Hedgie - now that I think about it I believe ours actually came from Menards, Home Depot or Lowes. One of those kinds of places. The one we have is 24" x 7' and flexible enough to bend in a half circle.

hedgie said...

I had looked at Lowe's and Home Depot along with Michael's, Big Lots, and the $$$ stores. Didn't have time to order from anyplace---needed an immediate remedy!!!!

Well, nap time for me. Christie in on her way to work. I'll be on my own until after 11......unless I need Carolyn later, but successfully carried Leisl downstairs to go out before Chris left. If it wasn't raining I would just let her "go" on the deck....but she doesn't like rain!

BBL.

hedgie said...

BTW---C/A---glad that I WASN'T missing posts!!!! Sorry you are having email difficulties. Are you at the cabin for the whole week???

CarolAnne said...

Hedgie- I am currently home until tomorrow. Bubby will be back in the morning sometime to get the Thanksgiving food & me & the dogs.

I am able to watch the goings on at the cottage over the internet via our secuirty camera.

When they want to talk to me they stand in front of the camera & holler for me to call them. LOL
No matter where I am in the house the dogs get to barking when they hear his voice, so I know to go look at the computer screen.

CarolAnne said...

Received this in a card today, it's a nice thought for any holiday or special occasion:

Hi Sandi! This is a very pleasant surprise seeing you here.
They went up yesterday for cam maintenance - NU was in the nest and trimmed some twigs/limbs in the way of
our view. I had sound earlier but I don't at the moment. We are in the process of voting for a name of our new male - we lost Lib last year. Belle is still our gal and the pair have been refurbishing the nest.
It is rainy and dark out but the night
light must be on.

Hope you have a Wonderful Thanksgiving Day Sandi.

WVDana,
We got started on the Cool Whip kick when my children were babies. Both were lactose intolerant, which meant no dairy products, so it was birthday cake & cool whip for them.

Now Cool Whip has real cream in it (or so the label states). Probably as a result of the negative commercials.

Sandi said...

I use Firefox as my browser and just downloaded Adobe Flash Player version 10.3.183.11 - still can't hear anything. I am well aware of the goings-ons at the nest and the voting that you are all doing. This will be my 4th year watching this cam (my son and daughter-in-law live in Ranson, WV and my daughter-in-law told me about the nest in Shepherdstown b/c she knew I loved eagles and was already following the nest at Norfolk Botanical Gardens). As I said,I've often read this blog for the latest info. I was glued to my computer (as much as I could be when I wasn't teaching) through everything that happened last spring. I am sad that Liberty is gone and prefer to think that he is alive and well and has just moved on rather than thinking that... I'm also glad that Belle has a mate, even if it's not Liberty, b/c ... no mate, no eaglets! I will settle for just watching but would love to be able to hear them as well. So any other advice would be appreciated - there are a gazillion different Adobe downloads, can someone be very specific? Thx.

I think I have sound. It's hard to tell at night. I feel like I hear camera sounds.

Yes it does go faster for the adults. I don't do anything for my own family until school lets out! I don't do any shopping, I can't think and I don't have the energy to run after school! Those kinders wear me out! ☺ It's a good worn out.

Had 3 kids move their name to yellow today and they cried. I told them they could earn back their green. Geez...what a pushover I am!!

Well remember the cell phone tower eagle in that area there is a taller tower and I did see a bird on it the other day so I decided to see what kind of bird I pulled in just across the street and saw something big and moving I got my camera out took some pic not seeing what it was then I got the video going and all of a sudden the thing I thought was a eagle or osprey not for sure being it was getting dark or dusk I should say Well it started moving again and all of a sudden a ARM YEP it was a man in the tower I burst out laughing out loud and then commenced to drive over and talked with the man way up in the tower He got the biggest kick out of my story Funny hun there looked to be something of a nest material when I looked up from under it I hope it wasn't a eagle nest I think they made a mess of it I did get a pic of his truck they had a long rope down No bucket truck I thought that was odd Wouldn't you think that if they were workers for a co they would use a bucket truck instead a rope

I didn't see the eagle by the time I drove by the other toooo dark

I put on my blog a letter I submitted to the Nelson Papers for publication. I hope it gets published.

CarolAnne said...

Hoda,
Fantastic letter.
Still think you could have a second career as a writer. (hint, hint, hint)
You are so articulate and compassionate about your subject matter.

Sandi said...

Downloaded shockwave and then restarted my computer - I have sound!! Woohoo! Thanks one and all for the suggestions and for the very warm welcome. I notice that no one here seems to use his/her picture as an avatar. Am I not supposed to let any of you know what I look like? =)

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn when you get better you are going to have to have the girls take you to Leesburg. Chris Cooley has his pottery Gallery open there. His pottery work is beautiful.

CarolAnne said...

LOL Sandi
Its great to see who we are speaking with. Just seems that we get themes going for our avatars. Right now most are purple for Cancer month.

hedgie said...

Good evening. I'm back. Had a good nap this afternoon---woke up when the doorbell rang. It was an Edible Arrangements fruit basket. No specific ID on who sent it---it said Eagle Momsters and Dadsters.....using my genius sense of investigative powers I have concluded that it must have been sent by JUDYE! So THANKS to JUDYE!!!! Very generous!

Welcome, Sandi. Even tho' I live in Berkeley Co., which is next door to Jefferson Co., my youngest daughter and her hubby live in Ranson, too! Many people don't have sound---I only have it about half the time. And it is practically inaudible on my laptop. Better on the PC.

hedgie said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jo's gd Christine!!! Her girls must have been so excited!!!!

hedgie said...

Lousy day with lots of traffic ramifications among others. Report a little while ago of an 87 y.o. man in a tree house near my old house with breathing difficulties. Now WHY would a man that age be in a tree stand in the pouring rain????
I think the rain has slacked off, at least for the moment. Time to heat up some leftovers for dinner.

LOL, JudyE---thought you were going to say it was a TURKEY in the tower nest!!!!

DanaMo said...

Sandi-I use my picture as my avatar often. I also use my dogs...and kindergarten crafts! LOL!
We all change our avatars very frequently.
I will change mine right now so you can "see" me. ☺

hedgie said...

Very nice letter, Hoda!!!!

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn did you read back just a little?

hedgie said...

Yes, Danawv, why?

DanaMo said...

What grade do you teach Sandi?

DanaMo said...

You should have been here last week. We all had posted pictures of Tom Seleck, and hamburgers, and alcoholic beverages.

hedgie said...

DanaMo---are you going to dress like a Pilgrim tomorrow?? I just know your kids LOVE your class!!!

hedgie said...

Grrrr----I am getting SO sick and tired of these stupid charity and survey phone calls. Just don't realize what an aggravation a ringing phone is until you don't feel good!!!

wvgal_dana said...

Wouldn't you want to go when you are better to Chris Cooley's Pottery Store and maybe buy a piece of his work? It is only down in Leesburg

DanaMo said...

No I don't have a pilgrim outfit. Never thought of that before. Might have to look into it. I think I have a colonial hat, I could do a black skirt and a white apron. Wouldn't be too hard would it?

Sandi said...

DanaMo, I WAS here last week, reading but not posting, so I saw all the old Tom Selleck pics! For the past 5 years, I have been an 8th grade special ed. resource teacher at a middle school near Bethany Beach, DE where we now live. Before that, I taught in Baltimore County, MD for 22 years, 7th grade remedial reading and 4th and 5th grade. I know there are a number of teachers on this blog.

Hoda said...

I understand the irritation LYNN. I have call display and unless it tells me who is phoning I do not answer the phone!!! They were getting a bit out of hand I would say.

Thanks LYNN and CAROLANNE for your words about the article...I will be pleased if it gets published also the Grans to Grans are looking forward to some publicity.

My day was hilarious. In the morning the roads were slippery and they were out there doing their best to clear the roads and the side walks. By the time I cam out of yoga it was raining and the streets and sidewalks were cleared and I actually took my ice grippers off and thought my coat was a bit too heavy for the weather!!! LOL...when I started the day thinking it was cold I saw a sail boat out on the water!!! Looked out of place somehow to be sailing in the cold weather...it went up from 23 degrees to 43 degrees today!!! Almost could be said it is balmy!!!LOL

hedgie said...

Oh, I see what you meant, Danawv. Yes....I know all about Cooley's Gallery. Been by it but not in yet. Watched film footage of the special kiln being built, too.

DanaMo said...

Oh wow, better you than me! Although, I have had middle school teachers say the same to me! ☺
My youngest daughter is in 8th grade this year.

DanaMo said...

Remember the day we all say the "face" in the nest and the "man" in the tree. One morning I turned on the cam and thought the eagle was in the nest. I captured what I saw, it's on my pic blog. Doesn't it look like an eagle or am I just that out of it. Mind you, it was dark, AND my screen size was small so I could have two windows open.

DanaMo said...

we *saw* not say! geez time to get off the computer!

paula eagleholic said...

Awesome, Sandi, glad you now have sound! I have a place on the eastern shore, south of Salibury.

paula eagleholic said...

LOl Hoda, it does sound like a heat wave!

paula eagleholic said...

Anyone else like pierogies? Mrs T's has a new kind out, cheese and jalapeno.

DanaMo said...

Coffee is set up for the morning so I think I will take my tired self up to my room and watch tv in bed.

paula eagleholic said...

Great letter, Hoda. I can feel your gratitude ☺

Hoda said...

Dear God!!! I just read three American students got arrested amid the Cairo, Egypt protests!!!
They will not have a very good THANKSGIVING I am afraid. Prayers go to their families. God Help Us All!!!

wvgal_dana said...

lol DanaMo I read that post where you said "dark" lol as "drunk" I thought WHAT!!! Went back and re-read it lol sorry...

Sandi we have retired teachers now. Shirley just retired and Judie teaches about Serial Killers. Lolly used to be a teacher. Her daughter Laurel is a teacher. Lets see who else...hum
Hoda I think use to be a teacher.

Once you retire you try to figure out how you did all you did when you was working. Now Shirley is always busy being retired.

You live in Ranson and I'm near Martinsburg.

You should come to our Dinner we have after Open House. Come to Open House in April at NCTC the eagles will be there and hopefully chicks in the nest. Usually it is in Oct. and you don't really get a chance to see the eagles. So April should be really nice.

Hoda said...

Thanks PAULA. I love pwerogies and we have a wonderful store here that sells them and they are like homemade. A local chap...Fresh and very tasty...

Lynne2 said...

evening all!

WET SOGGY YUK EVENING that is!

Welcome Sandi! Where in Batlo. Co did you teach? I live in the county!

Ya know, some days at work, I have to deal with really stoooopid people. Usually, it's not too terrible. But what I saw today made me want to kick a guy in the ...... you know whats. Will spare the details, but had to VENT VENT VENT

thank you and I'll now return to my regularly scheduled blogging

Lynne2 said...

DanaWV.....ROFLMAOA off! Shirley is busy being retired...ain't that the truth!

Lynne2 said...

Have been keeping and eye out for the eagle in the area, but no luck so far....

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Hoda, how lucky are you. Michael gets homemade pierogies in Philadephia.

Lynne2 said...

Hoda, been hearing bits and pieces of the things going on in Egypt (I try to never intentionally watch the news) and I pray for the safety of your family.

JudyEddy said...

Ok all of my eagle peeps I have to run something by you Now I don't feel comfortable doing this but a couple of associates at work are doing and and spreading it around I don't think it is right Maybe I am wrong I just need your valued opinion I single can either claim 0 or 1 on my taxes during the year Well a few associates that are also single told me they changed their exemptions to 4-6 and that way they get more money on the pay checks at the end of the year and then they change it back This week they are allowed OT and we get our 450. Bonus and the old timers get our Christmas bonus of 100. so that way they don't take it all in taxes Do you understand what they are doing Isn't that sort of wrong??????

I am going to go watch Tue TV I am a TV addict big time

Sandi said...

wvgal_dana, I live in Bethany Beach, DE. My son and his wife have their home in Ranson (on Old Leetown Pike), though they are currently renting the house while they are living in Dar as Salaam, Tanzania for 2 years (my son works for the US Dept. of State and is currently working at the US Embassy in Tanzania. Are you familiar with P.I.G.S. Animal Sanctuary in Shepherdstown? Melissa, the gal who runs the place, is babysitting my grandpig and my granddonkey while my son and his wife are out of the country. I went there with my son when he dropped the animals off for their extended visit - is the nest close to there?

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, it's been going on now for 4 days....hope it can end peacefully and to the satisfaction of the Egyptian people.

paula eagleholic said...

Sandi, the nest is about 6 miles outside of Shepherdstown, north of town, about 1/2 mile from the Potomac River.

stronghunter said...

Sandi,

Lovely picture of yourself. Here I am with my daughter at her graduation.

Hoda said...

Thanks LYNNE...They are doing the best they can, yet the situation is not good...I avoid watching the news too yet am drawn to small amounts of it...Prayer works best for me.I can pray and I can not control what happens there or anywhere else for that matter. Now I worry about the three American students, they are only in their teens...I went to The American University Of Cairo for two years after my exchange year with AFS...This is where these three lads were taking their courses on leave from their Universities in the USA. It will be one Thanksgiving they will not forget!!! I feel sorry for them and for their families.

Lynne2 said...

Sandi, we have been know to change avatars as often as our socks around here! Sometimes we get a "theme" going. This past weekend was purple, for pancreatic awarness.

My avatar is rare and elusive Turgle.

paula eagleholic said...

JudyE, I don't think there is anything wrong with changing your exemptions on your paycheck. I had people come to me in the past and change them because they needed money around Christmas or whatever. I always asked them to be careful in doing that...did they get a refund last year, etc. I didn't wan't them to end up owing at the end of the year.

Sandi said...

Lynne2, I taught at Berkshire Elem. in Dundalk, at Red House Run in Rosedale, and at Pine Grove Middle in the Cub Hill area. My husband and I were both born and raised in Balto. and our families are still there - will be headed there for Thanksgiving. DanaMo, I could never teach kindergarten! That said, I didn't move to middle school until both my boys were in high school. Would never want to spend all day with middle schoolers and then come home and have to live with them!! I tell parents all the time that I LOVE their kids b/c I know the secret - I only have to deal w/ them for an hour a day!! =D

Lynne2 said...

Hado, what happened to the 3 students?? I haven't heard!

paula eagleholic said...

And JudyE, the employer is either going to pay the tax difference either to the employee or the government, so it's not like you are cheating the company.

Lynne2 said...

I live in Randallstown, Sandi, in western Balto. Co.

hedgie said...

DanaMo---I can't make out anything from your pic---sorry!!! Yes, your idea for a pilgrim outfit would work fine!!!!

Paula, I've had those peirogies before. Food Lion finally got them earlier this year but Chrsitie has been getting them at Martin's for over a year. Good, aren't they?

DanaWV---I seriously doubt that I could afford anything for sale in Cooley's Gallery!!!

hedgie said...

Sandi, actually our Judie is a criminal psychology professor at GWU and her field encompasses far more than just serial killers!!

Sleep well, DanaMo! Aric will be there when you wake up!!! Hurray!!!

Hoda lovely writing you have such a way with the words

Forgot to tell you a story today Remember the gator at work Well apparently the other nite our manager called to police the gator was not in the enclosed fence around the pond the was butting his head against the Composite container in the parking lot at work That is where all the food goes and is sold to for pig slop I guess and they showed up and got big stick and put him back in the pond behind the fence I just wonder how he got out I will look as I walk in to work in the am just curious to see

Thanks for the feed back Vickie at work said I should do it They asked me if I wanted to work Thur and Fri being its my NA day they can't schedule me unless they ask I said no that it has never been worth it to me just take out more taxes
and I just like the time off

Another funny story or maybe you won't think it funny but a bunch of at work do

Someone found a dollar bill on the floor in front of one of the time clocks They took a tack and put it on the bulletin board above the clock now that was Friday Well I usually don't use that time clock so I didn't see it till Mon when I did use that clock instead of the other and I asked about it Well silly me took a dollar and added to it I told my boss Co Stu and he laughed and guess what he added a dollar also Well today is one day later and now there is 7 on the board Funny when it was 4 on the board I told Bob and he said he wanted to put up a dollar also but only had a 5 and just wanted to take the 4 ones and put the 5 up I told him no that no one will put up more 5's but they will ones so guess I was right because the 4 went to 7 by today Funny huh I can't wait till tomorrow to see how much more there is

Commercial over back to TV

Sandi, some of us recently donated to P,I.G.S. for a special rescue project they had going. Haven't been there, but am well-acquainted with their endeavours! I know the mail address is S'town, but I'm not sure of the exact location in relation to NCTC.
Sounds like a great assignment your son is on!

JudyE----people can claim whatever they want for deductions. But when they file their taxes, they will not get any refund to speak of and may end up owing!!!

Lynne2 said...

well folks, heading for the shower and bed. Need to be at work pretty early tomorrow....there is already a madhouse of appts. booked and like today and yesterday, it will likely be the STORM before the calm.

I send a monthly donation to P.I.G.S. b/c I am so grateful to Melissa for taking Sir Bryan (my daughter-in-law's donkey) and Posey (my son's potbelly pig) until my son and his wife return to the states in 2013.

Nice to meet you, Sandi. Welcome to the blog.

Sorry you had such a bad time at work today, Lynne. I can only imagine, but prefer not to. I hope tomorrow is much better.

Geez, DanaMo's kindergarten class gets better everyday. What a fun, and GREAT, teacher you are. I'm craving cornbread now!

Lynn, how are you feeling? Carrying Leisl is good progress as long as you have a smile on your face when you're doing it. It'll be sunny by Thanksgiving. ♥

Got a card-reader for my computer today, so maybe I can load a few pictures for the my blog tomorrow.

WANDA!!!! I surely am glad that you got straightened out about P.I.G.S.!!!!! They actually started out at a pot-brellied rescue back when they were SO popular---until people realized they didn;t stay wrinkly pigllets forever. They've done a lot of good work through the years.

Margy, nice of Tom to bring in TG dinner for your crew. I was trying to figure out how to take leftovers for you and Carolyn without hurting the others---since they were coming from someone elses meal besides mine,I wouldn't be able to take TOO much!!!!
