Linda said...

Happy Labor Day Eagle Pals!

T-Bird said...

You too Linda.

Linda said...

Going back to catch up again...

Had a bad stormy night with Riley last night. Feeling pretty wiped out this late morn...

Need a double dose of coffee this morning!

Lynne2 said...

Hi Linda!

Well, I've been lurking a bit an catching up on FB. Time to get busy around here. My "let's get a few projects done" idea has taken on a life of it's own!

T-Bird said...

I hope you all make a good day.

Lynne2 said...

aw, poor Riley.....hope he's OK now. We will have a bad evening here with Daisy, too, as the storms develop later. Seriously thinking about getting her a Thunder Shirt for next season...

Lynne2 said...

You too Thelma!

magpie said...

Thanks for the New Thread Steve,
and Happy Labor Day to You...
hope it is blissfully "laborless" for you...

Thanks T-Bird for the Call Over...Nice Goin' - catching it for us

magpie said...

whoo Linda,
sorry for the more or less sleepless night for you and Riley....
sounds like a good nap is in store for both of you....

Lynne as Lynn would say, you are a Whirling Dervish, all the housework...hope your feelin' no pain today

magpie said...

magpie said...

Nice Avatar, Lynne

simply majestic !

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks for the call over.

Steve thank you for the new thread.
I am just guessing you have the day off at NCTC but that may not be true. Have a good day!

I am happy that Erin made that statement "she has ruined her life". I'm not being mean....that is one of the 1st steps she may be taking other part of 1st step is a treatment prgoram. Thankful and pray everyone on both sides if she goes into treatment will support her and hopefully they will go to a good program like Aalon for themselves.

magpie said...

how is Handsome Steve today, Lynne?

Lynne2 said...

I have decided to ignore the pain. It's probably all in my mind anyway! Besides, I don't have TIME for it!

Margy, I asked last night but I think you were already goin....is it time for Tundra Swans to migrate?

magpie said...

Morning DanaWV....
thank you for sharing the prayer need for your friends injured in the accident
they are on THE LIST xo

trfn xo

wvgal_dana said...

Margy Isn't Connecticut one hour ahead of us. If he has a cell most on holidays are free calling, then weekdays 7pm till 7am free calling and weekends free calling.

Lynne2 said...

Handsome Steve is working with former Landlord Ken today. He is back from his Florida jaunt. Later we have some more online apps to fill out. I think he's going to try to get an appt at the VA tomorrow. He has also been having a lot of joint pain, in his arm/elbow in particular. He had tendonitis a while back and maybe needs another shot of steroid.

magpie said...

Lynne...thanks for reminding me...about the Tundra Swans...funny thing, I thought I heard some yesterday!

But, I think they wait until it is REALLLLLY COLD Before they head out.
I'll ask my naturalist friend in NY - but he is on vacation this week, in the soggy Adirondacks !

wvgal_dana said...

I am so excited for Lori that her baby black vulture has come back. To show her he is doing fine. What a joy. Wonder at what age they find a mate and fix a nest and have baby vultures???

Lynne2 said...

Erin is very lucky that she didn't kill herself or her daughter in that accident. I truly pray that this incident will be the one to get her to be able to turn her life around. So sad.

magpie said...

Dana
we are all on the East Coast, he is in the same time zone...

but I am going to try later anyway, make it short and I hope, sweet
Thanks

Lynne2 said...

OK Margy....I want to make sure I am outside and PAYING ATTENTION this season! Want to hear more of them!

magpie said...

You know who is going to see Tundra Swans when they start migrating???

PAULA !!

Lynne2 said...

yes she will, won't she!!

magpie said...

I am thinking that little Ella was given the love and attention of her mother, and was safely secured in a child safety seat
just feel it in my heart ♥

magpie said...

To me Lynne, it is one of the most beautiful and soulful sounds, the call of the Tundra Swan....
I will never forget, 9 pm December 2006 - went outside, heard a lot of something...got binocs out on a full moon night, and they sailed right over the apartment
went inside and compared the sound to my Thayer's Cornell Univ guide...

wvgal_dana said...

Very true Margy Paula will!!! Oh that Paradise Gal lol
Love her telling us all about it.
Praying that the things she spoke about the land. Sounds like it will be ok.

I really thought she would have water up on her land. My aunt lived in Severna Park by the water and that would happen.

magpie said...

Megan hears them a lot during the daytime, because she is outside so often!

and Loretta, same thing...

hedgie said...

I missed a question: Linda, I think, asked about my Jambalaya.....it is Zatarain's boxed blend...and I broiled a smoked sausage to crisp up the casing and cut it and added it to the pot. They also have a frozen ready-made variety---daughter says it's is NO good!

Bad dog mommy.....I lost one of Liesl's tennis balls. I did not see where it went....where she was looking, it WASN'T....suspected it maybe went down the steps.....if so, I can't find it down there, either. ARGH. She keeps looking.

hedgie said...

Thanks, Thelma, for the call over!!! I missed it again! Brought over my comments!

magpie said...

hope that Steve gets some relief from the discomfort, Lynne....and that the job search brings up the best job for the wonderful hard-working man that he is....

ttfn got some projects laid out here

hedgie said...

Congrats on your team's win, T-bird! Aren't you glad that you weren't at that game? Yikes.
Nothing in the paper about the guy struck by lightening....

hedgie said...

I'm not at all happy about the new FinFerry view.....the old set-up with the zoom window was so much better. I wonder if we could even see a ferry boat at this distance. :( They blew it!

Judie said...

Thank you for the Labor Day thread, Steve. Hope your day is labor-free.

Ah yes, Kay. From my years in Dayton, I surely remember week after snow white. So happy you heard such good news from the granddaughter along with pictures.

Hi Thelma. Thanks for the holler.

Linda, you have a tomato email. Hugs for Riley.

Lynne2, glad Steve is busy today and sure hope the VA can help with treating his aches and pains. Will say a job-finding prayer.

Brother Fred has power!

magpie said...

he and wife went to community center three mornings in a row, had breakfast, charged up phones, wife took a shower two of those days
LOL - Fred, said he took shampoo with him and went into the Long Island Sound with it...even though all were advised to stay out of the water....sorry I just got a HUGE chuckle out of that one...
bad boy, but, well, hey, why not!
but it is so waay out of character for him

magpie said...

Lynne2 said...

OK. For the THIRD TIME this summer, a dead, stinking, fly and maggot infested groundhog had to be removed from the front of the house. Our over the garage neighbors dog is a killer of groundhogs and he just lets the damn thing lay there!!! We saw the dog with it on Friday afternoon and he and the dog were heading across the back yard. So it's been there since then. HOW CAN SOMEONE BE SO GROSSSSSSSS!!!! After Steve removed the second one a couple of weeks ago, he said something to our landlord and he said he'd talk to the neighbor. Well, either he didn't, or the neighbor doesn't care. UGH! I have just sent an email expressing my disgust. Thankfully, their kids and dogs didn't find it!

wvgal_dana said...

Here is a report off that site I put up yesterday for fire in Texas:

Someone on a different forum reported that her mother lives on Mauna Kea in Tahitian Village and she was allowed back this morning to get her medications. She reported that all the houses on her street were fine but there was a huge cloud of black smoke nearby. I have friends that live on a street close to there and I was somewhat relieved considering all last night I heard rumor that Tahitian Village was gone. Seems Rumors abound. Praying your sister is okay.

Lake Bastrop is ok.

Lynne2 said...

Margy, so glad your brother and home and family are OK!!

Lynne2 said...

wvgal_dana said...

Ready to head out.

Eveyone take care. Will catch up when I get back..Hugs to all!!

Lynne2 said...

I don't get it either Margy....this guy is a BIG SLOB anyway. Trash can overflowing outside, etc. In fact, it's rare that he even takes his trash can down to the street on trash days....maybe once every 4 or 5 weeks. According to the LL, the inside is a disaster area. But to leave dead animals out front is just beyond reason. In what freaked out world must he live in to think that it's OK??

Lynne2 said...

have a good one DanaWV!

Lynne2 said...

I do believe it's about time Tom Sweetie took the plunge and asked you out on a date.....

magpie said...

the People Magazine with the stories of the children born AFTER their fathers died at the World Trade Center or in the airplanes that hit it...
is a good but sad read
the children commented of their sadness, that there are no pictures of them with their fathers....exept one little girl who had a picture of her sonogram when she was in the womb, and her Dad is in that picture....holding the sonogram

It does NOT mention Todd Beamer..."Let's Roll" - who was one of the masterminds overthrowing the hijackers on the plane that crashed at Shanksville, PA...Lisa was pregnant with their third child, who was born in the next January...

there might have been others, that might have chosen not to be included...

magpie said...

no, don't think so Lynne...our personalities do not exactly line up that way...

I would say, it's a good investment on the People Magazine...the pictures of the children....something to behold...or, maybe see it at the library, that's free

hedgie said...

Dana, I know that Anthony's closed and Hawkins moved to Valley Mall in Halfway. Don't think there is anything else here.

magpie said...

going to start thinking about putting on some Street Clothes...yawn, boring...but I have a couple of stops to make, so I better get movin'

Best of the Day Wishes, Precious Pals

God Bless and Thanks to all the Laborers ON DUTY in their respective jobs today...
that surely includes the Military !

Here's some other stores we used to have:
Silco
Joe the Motorists's Friend
Western Auto
McCrory's
Newberry's
The German Shop (Christmas time only)
Brody's (clothing)
Diamond's (clothing)
The Stag Shop (clothing)
The Diana Shop (clothing)
Three movie theatres: Strand, Central and Apollo
JC Penney's
Eyerly's (clothing)
Tavenner's (statinery and gifts)
Music & Gift
Stewart's Menswear (until just two years ago, was still in business)
Several restaurants and a few jewelry stores
Berkeley Hotel
Shenandoah Hotel
Bill's Billiard Palace
People's Drug Store
Lana LoBell (blothing)
Katz''s (clothing)
Garner's (clothing)
Emmert's (clothing)
and there are more...probably Wanda and Gene, might be the only ones that can remember these besides me

hedgie said...

Wasn't one of them on the square at one time, Margy? seems to me I remember going in one there.

Glad everything is okay with your brother....yuk---bathing out in the lake? No thanks!

Lynne2 said...

Lisa Beamer had been very selective in using the press. And has not been without controversy, especially when she tried, and I don't remember but maybe GOT a patent of sorts on the "let's roll" phrase. But I won't judge a woman who has just lost her husband, with 2 children and one on the way on however she manages to do what she believes is right to help her own family, or how she reacted while in a state of extraordinary grief in the months and years following 9/11. Don't think she ever broke any laws or anything. As one of the highest profile widows of 9/11, I find it odd that she either wasn't asked or didn't want to participate in the People magazine article. She got remarried last year!

DanaMo said...

I agree WV Dana. Now that I know she is going to be alright, I think she needs to have consequences for her actions!! I don't mean to sound mean either, but enough is enough. She put herself, her daughter and other people in danger.

Just got back from running errands with Annemarie and now it's time for a nap!

Anyone know if the race is on? It didn't run last night due to weather, is it running today?

"Let's Roll" which she wrote...

very riveting....she was a woman of intense Faith....
as was Todd....
just hope any controversy
did not add to the tragedy and difficulty of her loss
I have not kept up with those updates
but thank you...for your post

magpie said...

I think you mean shoe store, Lynn...
can't say I remember it, but I have been out of touch on and off with town things

Our house is still open. Presently 80 with a breeze and really feels wonderful!

hedgie said...

Limb is cut up...stacked...may have to move it to woodpile later...hearing thunder. It DID bend the heck out of the stake of my Froggy welcome sign. :(

Judie said...

Quick visit.

Margy, so glad brother and wife and home are all okay. Well, I got a picture of a 70+ washing his hair in the water and had to laugh. Hey, you only live once.

Hoda, enjoy your yoga class.

Hello Jim. Thanks for stopping by.

Lolly said...

Jack took a small bottle of biodegradable soap/shampoo on his rafting trip. They bathed in the brown river!! When we go to Colorado, Joey always bathes in a stream. However, it is so freezing cold, I do not know how he does it!

dragging that stooooopid beeper with me
hoping it never goes off this whole entire week, or the cell phone!
I work dayshift Tues thru Sat anyway

hedgie said...

No, Margy, don't think it was a shoe store. It was a repair shop. I remember carrying in a broken sandal for stitching, and his shoes for reheeling more than once. It was in that nook where there was a beauty shop and maybe a small bar??

hedgie said...

I remember MOST of those, Margy, but not all. SOme I never heard of. Penney's had already moved to the Plaza when I came. You forgot Rockwell's! Only the Apollo theater when I came, but we still had the drive-in's just outside town! Peter Pan Cleaners, 2 photo shops....

hedgie said...

And, of course, good ol' HAGMART on north end!!!! I think it closed in '73 when the first McDonald's bought them out!

hedgie said...

Accidently clicked on this in my favs.....I probably have not shared it since some of our newer Momsters joined us. They are all totally beautiful and amazing....but the SharPei and the 2nd bird are my special ones!!!

Hello, Dear Friends. I was up until 8AM (got back up at 12 Noonish) letting my fingers do the walking for Austin News Channels & checking Weather Underground satelite maps. Looks like three subdivisions, (Sherry & Jimmy's is one) East of Bastrop are gone. Two fires united North of their area, jumped the Hwy & moved South w/help from winds caused by Lee. They are 6 streets S. of Hwy.Think I found more info than she knew - sent her map link. No one allowed there except Police, Hwy closed. Jimmy will be back from Wales 8 PM TU. Thank God he left truck at airport.
Sherry sent some iPhone pics of today from City of Bastrop where she's staying w/their friends.I have captures of satellite map.
Will post soon. Don't look if you don't want to.
THX for all the thoughts, prayers & blessings---some things can be replaced, families can't. And they are all safe---all evacuees, I believe.

hedgie said...

Oh...we mustn't forget Patterson's and Blue White Grill, Margy---which are still there!! And the state liquor store--a thing of the past!

hedgie said...

Oh, Loretta, my heart is breaking for Sherry and Jimmy. Prayers answered that THEY are okay, but can only imagine how they feel about losing their lovely home and all their dear possessions. Hugs for you and Frank, too....know how much you wish you could be there with her.

Judie said...

Loretta, so happy to know Sherry is safe and Jimmy will return tomorrow and that a vehicle will be available. So very sad for all who have lost their homes and years of living. Prayers for all.

Lolly said...

Loretta, have not been reading back on the blog the last day. Too much going on for me to keep up. Did not realize the fire was affecting your daughter. I am so sorry. Today we have a great temperature, but the wind is not helping contain the fires. Last Sunday when I had the party, some cars parked on the grass. A friend pointed out how scary that was. I had not thought of it being a danger, but a hot car parked on dry grass could have caused a fire. We were lucky. Again, (((hugs))) for you and prayers for your daughter and hubby.

Lynne2 said...

Oh Loretta, I'm so sorry about your daughter's home.....just awful. Glad they are OK, and the pets too.

stronghunter said...

Good afternoon,

Loretta, I am so sorry about Sherry's home, but happy to learn that she is safe. Such a hard time for Sherry and Jimmy and their neighbors down there.

Will's mowing now and will cook some wings and burgers later.

Lolly said...

I did some reading back and saw Loretta's first post about the fire and Sherry having to evacuate. That is so devastating, I just can not imagine! That is a pretty area of Texas. All of these fires are really scary. You drive along the highways and see where they have put out lots of small fires along side the road. You know they are caused by cigarettes being thrown out! Grrrr! All the more reason for me to keep the grass green around our house!

Kay said...

LORETTA, sad, sad news to welcome me back to the blog this afternoon. Glad there was no loss of life in those devastated neighborhoods, but so sorry Sherry and Jimmy face "starting over".

MARGY, Hallelujah, Brother Ed and wife are Aok and they have clean hair, too !

JUDY, I had three browsers up this morning--Windows 7 constantly refers to tabs, which I don't get. Florida is bona fide Resort Country--with white n' shorts acceptable year round. That was the case back in the 70's for we Tarpon Springers.

LYNN, LOL, "even the jerk next door remembered not to put out the trash"--as sloppy as they are if may not have been a problem or even jerks get it right now and then !

Paid a call to Target this afternoon. Figured the folks who must work today need to feel wanted. ☺ There were fewer peeps out and about than is usual---so I guess the parks and rec areas are teeming with folks enjoying the holiday.

Kay said...

MARGY, I meant Brother Fred, sorry about that !

Lolly said...

Kay, reading back saw where you had rain of cats and dogs. lol Do not want it to rain cats and dogs here, we need the wet water kind of rain. ☺

Kay said...

LOLLY, so right---cats and dogs cause a bunch of yellow spots on the landscape ! You don't need that. LOL

NatureNut said...

Sorry, no pics on yet. STOOPID Blogger is giving me all kinds of Errors & I had already downloaded Google Chrome the other night to use the newer upload version.
Later~~~

We've got rain!!! Gotta dig that trench. Our Park. Sec. who is now in Frisco, TX (think near Dallas) said it was 80° today & they haven't had rain since June!

JudyEddy said...

OK I had asked a question earlier and I want you to look at what the symbol is when I have the blog opened to make comments DUH I have a snow man what is up with that I have the B when I bringup the main page but the little snowman shows up when I go in the the blog where we make comments at I just had to ask Somehow that snowman link has attached it
It was the snowman cam site I just thought it was odd and now I know you all don't have a snow man I am scratching my head

JudyEddy said...

I wonder how and why the little logo get mixed up I noticed it on a few that aren't what they should be My interactive map has the B for blogger something is fishy I guess it won't hurt

Lolly said...

Frisco is just north of Dallas. Many people who work in Dallas live in Frisco.

Lolly said...

It is up to 84 now. We are very comfortable with the house open and the ceiling fans going. Wonderful day but would be much better with rain!! Humidity is down to 22%, that is why it feels so great!

JudyEddy said...

I forgot to say I put the little snowman on my avatar for you all to see that I am not going mad I have a snowman on my blog

JudyEddy said...

LORETTA I also had issues with google chrome so I uninstalled it totally what a PIA it was I have lived without it this whole time and I can still

Erin loves her daughter very much! She has a drinking problem and hopefully will now get help.It is a debilitating disease and one that certainly causes a severe lapse in judgement. Thanks for all your kind words and prayers. She is in surgery now for her wrist and ankle.

Kay said...

Eagle Trak Blog, 09/03:

Camellia(NBG fledge of 2010) spent last Wednesday near the Stumpy Lake Country Club then moved to the Glenwood Honeybee Country Club on Thursday. He headed toward Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge on Thursday afternoon and has concentrated his movements around Muddy Creek off of Indian River Road. (He's very close to NBG)

In a surprise move on Thursday, Azalea (fledge of 2009) left the NC fish farms and headed north. Her flight took her over the wildfires at the Great Dismal Swamp NWR. She crossed the James River near the James River Bridge on Saturday. Her last location was about 1 mile from the runway at Langley Air Force Base.

Then on the Wildlife cam there is a report of Daddy Norfolk having been sighted at the Gardens this weekend. No mention of a she, but they say, "He's looking good."

Good to have affirmation that they all weathered the hurricane well !

Kay said...

DANAMO, praying for Erin as she undergoes surgery. Keep us posted as I think we all feel so anxious for her and her family.

JUDYE, that Snowman thing is really weird ! He took on a life of his own and he sure took a liking to you ! LOL

hedgie said...

Loretta, I wondered what happened cause I had checked your blog a few times. Is there anything we can do for Sherry??

Been raining gently here for a couple of hours now. Not storming!

Thanks for NBG update, Kay. Sure hope Azalea stays away from the runways.

Found the ball! Liesl was much smarter than I was. It WAS where she was looking---under a round table with a long tablecloth on it....I caught a glimpse of it under the hem with the flashlight AFTER uselessly checking basement a 2nd time. Still cannot figure how it got there, unless she had it and dropped it and it rolled.

JudyEddy said...

Well I'm stepping out for a bit BBIALW

Judie said...

Not to worry Kay. Margy has a big family and probably thought she just forgot one of her brothers.

Kay said...

JUDY aka Video Queen ! Thanks for sharing the K14 tribute. It gave me chills up and down my spine as the composite of his antics unfolded, and to the perfect music ! He had a lot of spunk !

Judie said...

Thank you Kay for the eaglet updates and Judy for the K14 tribute.

Lynn, follow the bouncing ball -- or Liesl's nose.

Off to the kitchen. Bye

LYNN, oh that darling Liesl ! She was trying to show you where to look, but must have been fearful of nosing in under that cloth. Very cute ! Malcolm will lose a ball or a toy under my couch or a bed, then prance from it to the broom closet til' I bring out the broom to retrieve. Months ago when he first became a family member he'd cower and cringe when the broom came out. I just know someone had shooed him away or beat him with a broom back in his Street Days. Now, the broom is his friend !

JUDIE, right, MARGY does have a big family. I'm not one to start rumors or tell big tales, but here's a little known fact. Brother Fred and I are the same age and once, a very long time ago we were an item. I always found Fred too formal and called him Ed or Snookums, depending on my mood. I'm betting he's forgotten all about me. :( Anyone know the hotline number for Dementia R Me ? I need some support !

hedgie said...

Loretta, when you talk to Sherry again, please let her know that Momsters prayers are being said for them.

JudyE, that is very strange about your blogger screen....have never seen that happen before.

DanaMo...praying that Erin's surgery goes well.

Lynne2 said...

Prayers that Erin's surgery goes well Dana.....I've no doubt she loves her little girl with every ounce of love a mother can have. I pray for her peace of mind, and I surely hope she, and all of the family heal. It's got to be SO hard on your friend...

hedgie said...

Kay, poor Malcolm. Glad that he has learned that the broom in the right hands is a very good friend!
Ha---Liesl probably thinks I'm a really dumb Mommy.

Pouring....4-8" of rain predicted in next few days. We need rain, but we don't need predicted flooding. Wish we could send it to TX.

hedgie said...

Lowreeda---I see you have a title for your blog up.....

Hoda said...

LYNN I could not open the photos link it told me not found.Glad Liesl's toy was found...

JUDYE thanks for K14 tribute. Such a short life.I do not have the snowman on my screen when I open others' blogs or on this regular screen.Sorry I can not help.

KAY thanks for the update on Norfolk Dad and Azalea...I do hope she stays awayf from the runway.

MARGY I always read your posts and say thank you. Glad you and your BRO had a good talk this morning. Good luck with the beeper and the work situation...I hope no need for it to beep or the cell phone to ring.So you are already gaining on the time when you can have a vist from James the Wise...

It sounds like a good day at your corner of the world SHIRLEY.

LORETTA SOOOOOO VERY SORRY For the loss of the home and so very grateful there is no loss of life. Blessings and prayers come your way. I read earlier that a mother and child perished in the TEXAS fires.

LOLLY glad you have a good breeze flowing through, its about time...your comments about grass and parked cars sent shivers down my back it could happen so fast.

LYNN yesterday you spoke aboutt a chap who was struck by lightning because he did not leave the stadium...any news about him. There is a 27 year old chap in Canada who was alseep in his tent with his son and his common law wife. He got struck by lighting and he died. The baby and his partner are OK.

Hoda said...

LYNN HURRAH!!! Job well done and wood piled up already and thigns were manageable with the chain saw. BRAVO LADY...pleased for you...and proud of you.

hedgie said...

Just had to put a board into the kennel as a ramp over a low spot in front of the gate so that Liesl can get in and out. It is flooded.

hedgie said...

Howdy, Hoda! There was nothing in the paper about the fellow struck by lightening at the WVU game.
Sorry you can't open the pics. Anyone else? It opens fine for me.
Hoda, I will send you the link in an email and then maybe it will work for you.

Wow! Carolyn has been selected to work the 911 mobile unit at the Air Show Sat., the 17th! She is so happy! Not only some overtime $$, but it shows that the boss lady has good confidence in her abilities, I think!

hedgie said...

Oh, Loretta...devastating. :(

Lolly, you mentioned parking on the grass. Also, since the invention of the catalytic converter, owners are always reminded (I think the sticker on the vizor) not to park in leaves, too, for the same reason.

JudyEddy said...

About the map last night do you think that many peeps are peaking in on us Snoopy little buggers I say

They must be intimidated by us or afraid of us LOL The crazies that talk to empty nest LOL

wvgal_dana said...

No Margy I remember those stores.

Diamonds we use to go in and try on clothes. Then let Mom and Dad know what they were. They sometimes took us back and had us try them on and show them. Sometimes we got and sometimes we didn't.

My first Diamond came from Melart Jewlery Store.

Anyone going out I-81 some driving 80 some 70 some 65 and then many 40. Sure is a mess plus foggy like seeing.

Whew.........I think I finally got caught up.....only to have to leave for dinner.

I think I need to take a speed reading class. I always wanted to take one. In college, my roommate could read 5 times faster than me for our English Assignments. I hated that! Maybe that is why I stuck with MATH!

Anyway.....

LORI – Love hearing about the vulture chick coming back after its first day out in the world of flight!! Hopefully it will continue to call your place its home and you’ll have another generation next year!
So funny about the white after Labor Day, too! In South Florida where it NEVER gets cold, we wore sandals year round to keep cool. White, too, I am sure!

KAY – Some great Labor Day quotes!! Thanks for enlightening us ♥

DANA MO – Keeping your friend’s daughter, Erin and her precious daughter Ella in my prayers as she begins the healing process and hopefully makes some major changes in her life while she is still young enough to start over and have a good life in her future. It is never too late, but to have a life changing event like this early on when you have a problem, sure can be a blessing in disguise. The courts always strive for reunification, if her child is taken from her temporarily because of this. If she gets back on track, she surely won’t lose her daughter. Prayers that she has God in her life. He will give her strength to get through this! Also praying that little Ella isn’t the victim of any further struggles with her Mom. That can be tough to watch as well. Sometimes the child gets caught up in the parent’s inability to get back on track and that is so sad as well.

LYNN – That Zatarins is pretty good stuff!! I used to make it from scratch and that is reeaally good!!

LYNNE – Sorry Daisy suffers during the storms as well. I was afraid the thunder shirt would make Riley pant more. He really pants during the storms and I fear he will overheat.

JUDIE – Thanks for the tomato email and the Riley Hugs!! ♥

MARGY – YEAH for brother Fred!!!!! Also happy to hear their place fared well through the storm.

LORETTA – So sorry to hear that Sherry and Jimmy may have lost their home, but relieved to hear Sherry is safe at a friend’s home. Those fires are just horrible. (((HUGS))) Will keep them in my prayers. ♥

Off to get dinner out of the oven...... Yes, LORI, I use mine!!

Hopefully I won't have to read for two more hours when I come back again!! LOL!

JudyEddy said...

PETE POND has a heard of elephants now

JudyEddy said...

looks like the are leaving as well as I should

hedgie said...

Linda, the thunder shirt shouldn't cause over-heating. I have a friend who swears by it with his one fraidy dog. Well worth a try!

hedgie said...

Hoda, glad you could view the pics via email!! Hope JudyE can, too.

Wow!Wow! Supposed to get down into the 50's tonight. Highs in the 80's this next week, creeping back into the low 90's BUT no rain at least for the next 10 days. Groan..........!

I suspect that Margy was mostly referring to N Queen from King to Race. I threw in Hagmart on north end.

Linda, here is the link to the Thundershirt. Seems to be getting mostly good reviews, although Dr Baker tried it on her Setter and it didn't help her. The trainer I used for Daisy said you can also use a tight tee shirt, but that's not as easy to get on and off. The Thundershirt has a money back guantee

Lynne2 said...

Daisy is also now wearing her Halti Lead for walks. We are just tired of her yanking us around. She doesn't like it, but we started for a few minutes at a time and she isn't freaking out! Well, actually she did this evening. The mom, baby and young doe were out under the apple tree when we went out and she blew a fuse. But she couldn't pull me and she was NOT HAPPY. LOL!

Lynne2 said...

Think I 'll go and relax for a while. My cleaning has gone straight to obsessive compulsive. Not good! Well, sort of good....

I had a turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch so I am thinking a big salad for supper.

Enjoyed the bear picture, Lynn. I would not be interfering with that bear snack.

stronghunter said...

Gee, they want my cell phone number. I really do not want to give them that.

Linda said...

Lynn and Lynne - Thanks for the info and the link for the thundershirt. I have looked at it before, but still worry about it making him warm.

Lynn - Does your friend have a larger long haired dog. I just fear that a rough coat border collie would get hot!

Love the Bear picture. How nice that he was being gentle on the feeders, so as not to destroy them........until he wants to get out the last of the seeds!!

Watching some explanations on dog competitions with border collies on RFDTV right now. The border collies are working with cattle right now. I just love to watch them work!

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY who wants you to give them your cell phone number???

JUDYE your avatar does not show on my screen!!! No problem earlier.

stronghunter said...

We are watching Hillbilly Hand Fishing

I am being introduced to a whole new world of television.

Hoda said...

JUDYE avatar is back to normal...maybe I caught you in the middle of the switch.

stronghunter said...

Google, Hoda. When I signed in to post my comment. Something about what awful things would happen if I forget my password and they need my cell phone number.

Judie said...

Bear picture was fun.

Darth says Bambi sauntered through the backyard a day or two ago when I was at school. Was not accompanied by Bambette or Bambino.

Shirley, who wants your cell phone #?

Judie said...

Oh, sorry Shirley. I see you answered.

magpie said...

dear friend, my heart is in my throat...I can barely post...I am so sorry about your Sherry and Jimmy's loss...
this is beyond belief....

Thank God, truly, that Sherry and Jim are safe and will have each other soon to go through this
tragedy together..when Jimmy returns home

I had a lovely little afternoon visit with GG and Wanda...took some Clothes Closet things over to Wanda for Soup Kitchen coming up Tuesday...
the Captain was doing some chores at home

beeper did not go off, cell phone did not ring, unbelievable considering the rain, and lots of it, that we got between 5 and 8 pm

magpie said...

Lynn
Kudos to Carolyn !!
I suspect she was hand-picked by Crystal who will be her partner...and then of course approved by the Boss

Andy and another supervisor will man the other part of the on-site operations

stronghunter said...

Glad that you had an afternoon free from beeps and cell phone calls, Margy.

magpie said...

Kay!
Are you serious, or are you kidding me...were you and brother Fred an item?
If so, then...well, he missed out if he did not grab onto you and hold on for dear life !
His wife, IS a dear dear lady.
I think...you were tongue in cheek, but what a cute anecdote
xo

magpie said...

We are roaring towards
THE SPLIT !

Hoda said...

MARGY I am glad your day was beep and ring free. Good to hear you had a visit with WANDA and GG and the CAPTAIN.

Thanks SHIRLEY I ignore this same message from Google when it comes up for me. I did however give them an alternate email address in case of trouble.

magpie said...

Dana and Lynn have added more old-time stores from Martinsburg area and surrounding areas....
Wanda, GG and I were talking about it, and Mellart's jewelry store came up, and there was another one...run by the Foreman's - across from Mellart's but we can't come up with the name.
LA Roberts is one of the FEW stores, including Blue & White Grill, that is still in business.
I take my things to LA Roberts for repair...

Thanks Shirley...

Hoda said...

Are BAMBETTE or BAMBINO old enough now to be on their own???I would rather think not JUDIE...could they have been hiding out of view?

stronghunter said...

You are right, Margy. We are almost at the split.

magpie said...

And thanks Hoda...for giving me Free Rein !
That's so much like YOU !
God Bless You, and prayers of thanks for your presence with us here on the blog
