Hallelujah, Linda ♥

Good Night...

and also I got your email and I thank you, am working my way through the evening activity here...

stronghunter said...

At some point, I am likely to disappear from the blog. I don't think I will be able to blog from my cell phone. I can't connect with it until I figure out what is wrong, but I might get on FB briefly, though I will need to save the battery for emergencies and family calls. Phone is charging now.

I think I was about 3-4 days without power after Isabel hit.

stronghunter said...

Going to head upstairs now. I am tired tonight. See you tomorrow. Good night.

magpie said...

thank you Hoda...you are absolutely correct about the jury system...and it is good that it is that way

OH what a SPLIT that snuck in..

Shirley, I was a wee one when Hurricane Hazel passed through, but I remember torrential rains and wind, and my father using cuss words...which was pretty unusual around us kids

Hoping that Jack gets a super night sleep tonight Lolly before heading out on his adventure !

I posted some pictures of me arriving to yoga today LYNN. You had said next time to ask the photographer to take a picture of my face in under the hat!!!LOL!!!

I think I said Good Night a little while ago, but this here blog keeps drawing me back....

I couldn't absorb all the posts today, but most important thing I want to say is my Heart is with all of you, and my prayers, and Thank You for Yours !!

So Good Night, once again, and
God Bless Us, Every One

Margy, you have mail.

Judie said...

Not sure why, but very weary tonight.

Paula, come back as quickly as you can, please.

It is sad to realize how much we concern ourselves about our human safety when we have advance warning and can prepare to protect ourselves and yet forget about how vulnerable the wildlife is when there is a severe storm, wildfires, etc. May we and the animals be safe and unharmed.

The sandperson is skulking around in the hallway. I can feel the impatient need for sleep creeping close to me.

The night light is on for anyone who may need to arise in the darkness and for Andy and Hoda who will arrive late from the West coast. The sandperson has reminded me that Hoda should also be included in late arrivals. Restful sleep for all. Until tomorrow...

From Candy: "Hey there Jo. James was let go about 3pm. The county decided not to wait until 5. I have just been upset with him as he was up on an extension ladder trying to get the gutter drain unplugged in the rain and dark. :( He is inside now and we are just waiting. It seems like they have down graded it to coming in as a cat 1 hurricane. It should be ok. Please don't worry. We have been through many of these storms, only it usually was just Josh and I, as James was either working at 911 or the fire station."

paula eagleholic said...

They are saying some rain will be here overnight or perhaps in the morning....will get up and get my stuff done....see if any neighbors need help...then will head home. Sue ellen and hubby are waiting until Monday to come down...she will call me when she gets here amnd let me know how everything is

Margy sorry about the verdict....and surely hope you didn't have to use your vacation leave to testify...sounds like that would be compensable time!

NO traffice on the way down

They are evacuating delaware beaches too...traffic wasn't bad going west either

HODA: you pictures of yourself and of the Dragon Boat are fantastic! I really enjoyed seeing them. Love the Hat! Suits you so well!! ♥

I'm heading in to the news and then to

Good Night and God Bless

Hugs to All ♥♥♥♥♥♥

hedgie said...

Good grief, Margy! Nilla has a great grandchild? She can't be any older than me! Wow.....

That was a much quicker end to the case than you expected, right??

Lolly, those who have the power to do somethimg ab out those situations and DON'T, are just as dangerous to our youth as those who are incompetent or uninterested. Can't blame you for getting out, either.

Lynne2 said...

yes Hoda, we are on the west side of Baltimore, and live on a hill! Don't think we have much to worry about in the way of flooding or really bad winds...But it will be very windy and rainy for sure. Or not, if the storm would be so kind as to move just a little further to the east! Mostly a power outage concern here.

Hoda said...

PAULA if you get a chance let us know before you start your journey out of the eye of the storm towards home tomorrow.

Good post from CANDY JO. Thank You.

MARGY, we did have Family Friday, but just Gene and I and GG. Karla is in unknown places and Denise had some meetings tonight.

According to the NEW YORK TIMES Hurricane tracker by two in the morning Irene will be down graded to Category ONE!!! Now if it would only take a right turn out towrds sea!!! Does not look like it thought...So batten down the hatches is still the right thing to do...GOD KEEP YOU ALL AND ALL THE CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL TOO.

PA Nana said...

Good evening to those still awake.

Been a busy day getting ready for Irene's visit. Hope all are in ready for this unwelcomed guest.

Found a really neat item for those leaks in the laundry room. Sand tubes! They're about 3 feet long and 6-8 inches in diameter. They are used for blocking water from entering under doors. Not anxious to find out if they work, but now we're ready.

See that prayers are needed for Janet & Chris. Speeding recovery for both.

Special prayers for Paula's travel to and fro and all in Irene's path.

Anyone watching football? Packers & Colts. Last night's game was a nail-biter. Sure sorry the Skins lost.

Tomorrow night I can watch my 2nd favorite team - NE Patriots. Their games are not televised here often so I watch whenever they are.

Game over, 24-21 Packers. Another nail-biter at the end.

Time for the news and updated weather report.

God bless all in eagle land - 2 & 4footed. Stay safe!

hedgie said...

Linda, the NBG eagle and the other one are perfectly safe. They are currently in the western part of the state.....down Rt. 81 a piece from here. Rest assured that they are not in danger.

Oh, yes...the deputy WAS fired from his job. He plans to sue to get it back according to local scuttlebutt. Lots of inequity around here about how such things are handled amongst the different law enforcement agencies.

hedgie said...

My Hazel story is this: Daddy and I went to a little neighborhood grocery for supplies. He left me in the car while he ran in because it was raining and blowing so hard. A huge old DC tree fell on the car parked in front of our car. Yep---I was scared!!!!! I was 6, I believe....'55 right, Shirley?

hedgie said...

Hoda, love the pics!!!! Thank you---I left a comment!!!

Lynne2 said...

Hi Diann!

WOW, scary thing to have happen Lynn!

Was it Isabel that took down the famous Wye Oak tree? I actually have a leaf from that tree!

hedgie said...

Shirley and Lynne, think positively!!!! Stop assuming that you will lose power!!! Be prepared, but don't ask for trouble.

hedgie said...

From what I can recall, Hazel was probably the worst 'cane DC ever got......had no idea it affected up here, too, Margy. Of course Agnes had bad effects but it was more the water than the wind....but it was a long time ago, and maybe I've forgotten the details. Think I was either a newlywed or a new mom then, so was busy!

Lynne2 said...

LOL Lynn!! I am POSTIVE the power will go out! Ground wet, too many big old trees around. Heck, it went out in the wee wee hours last night and we don't even know why! Big old tree fell this past week down onto the road at the far end of the property here, too. We lost it during Isabel for 3 days.

Lynne2 said...

Agnes affect us even up in the 'burgh. I remember not quite being able to comprehend the concept of flooding in my 10 year old brain! I thought it meant the rivers would be really high up over the bridges!

PA Nana said...

Teresa and family will feel the brunt of Irene. They are in Chesapeake VA. Fortunately it doesn't flood in her area and she's used to getting through this type of storm. I'm still worried about them.

She lived through many typhoons when she was stationed in Okinawa. Mike is there with her and he's never experienced a hurricane. Hope Max isn't scared.

I remember Hazel! The wind frightened me. To this day strong winds make me very uncomfortable.

Lynne2 said...

Love your avatar Diann!

Yes, the wind scares me too. I remember during Isabel hearing the terrible cracking of tree limbs around the property here......

hedgie said...

Hi, Diann...goodnight, Diann! Saw the end of the game...a squeaker---again! Sure can do without those close ones!! Neat about the sandtubes! Hope they work for you!!! Hope even more that you don't have to find out!!

Lynne2 said...

Prayers for your kin, Diann.

hedgie said...

Lynne....power goes out here for NO reason on many occasions. But rarely during bad weather!! Go figure.
Think it was Isabel that did in the Wye Oak. :(

Lynne2 said...

Think I'll hit the hay. Good night and prayers for all.

Lynne2 said...

Wish I could be at the beach AFTER the storm passes....great shell finding after a storm!

hedgie said...

One of the things that I hate most about severe weather is that it almost always happens in the dark here. I want to SEE what is happening!

Lynne2 said...

you ain't kidding Lynn....and the worst will happen here most likely after dark tomorrow.....OOOOooooOOOOoooOOOO!

Good night again!

PA Nana said...

Agnes was June 1972. We were on vacation in Pike Co. PA when it rained and rained. Didn't know it was a hurricane because it always rained while on vacation. When decided to come home had to delay 2-3 days because of flooding.

We could see the smoke from the fires of Wilkes-Barre from Rt. 81 on our way home. We had a lot of damage from the rain. Cellar was full, furnace was inundated and lost a lot of my canned fruits. What a loss.

Must check on my friend in Brooklyn.

PA Nana said...

Agree! Why do the bad storms happen after dark. Like you, Lynn, I want to see what's going on.

Guess I'll try to get some zzz's
Had a real bad day with the back.
Lolly, I know how you suffer.

Goodnight and God bless!

hedgie said...

The beach after a bad storm is full of lots of neat things....we have even found pieces of broekn up boats!!! So many marinas don't have room to take all boats out of the water....and many vanish!

And speaking of vanishing.....it is time for me to do just that!

See you all tomorrow. Prayers for all needs...and especially for safety for those in harm's way---including the wildlife---who really are much better equipped to deal with it than we humans!

hedgie said...

P.S. Diann, thanks....I was 6 mos. preggers with Carolyn then. I remember my Mom coming up here from DC area and so many roads were flooded that she had a hard time finding a way through and out of Martinsburg to reach out road!! No cell phones then, of course!!!
Don't recall fire in Wilkes-Barre....???? Will look it up!
Bye!

Morning, Paula.

Slugging down some coffee here, just trying to get ready for the day. Still need to get the canopy frame down. Might be doing it in the rain if we don't hurry. I was too tired last night, and I think Kathryn was too.

I think Hunter's football practice will be called off. They have canceled all of the games, but did not mention practices.

Linda said...

Good Morning!

Paula - Hope you're getting your work done and will be heading west very soon. Stay safe!

Shirley - Good Morning to you. Hope the rain holds off until you get your canapy structure down and secure things outside as well.

Lori - You look to be further east than those in WV. Stay safe and hoping you don't lose power.

We are going to secure some things as well. We are expected to get some winds in the 40mph range in the early morning hours tomorrow and throughout the day.

So glad Belle and Truder made a pre-Irene visit this morning! It will be nice if they make another post-Irene visit tomorrow or Monday! Stay safe, our Eagles!

Lynn - Got the same email and it started as "Was reading your blog....." so I would assume it isn't anyone in our group. Just a trolling lurker, as we know they can do. That is the scary thing. Prayers for brother's rehab and Lillian, too. ♥

Dennis just went out to get some Dog food, since we need it anyway and will stop by the grocery store for a few things. I told him if it is crowded, forget it.

We get some pretty hefty storms in the winter with high winds and fare pretty well, so we are hoping with all the leaves on the trees we won't see too much damage from limbs coming down.

We have already had a few lightening strikes on the property this summer. Ripped the bark right off one of our huge ash trees and slung shredded pieces all over our yard. It was amazing.

We have been lucky to keep our power through some of these nasty short term storms! Here's hoping it holds through this one!

Good morning all....Obeservations this morning: Dead baby Milksnake on the sun porch. Thank a lot Brother Cat. Cloudy and breezy and some big gusts have just started whipping up. There are NO hummingbirds so far this morning at the feeder, which is very weird. Female Monarch in the yard landed on the milkweed and laid an egg. Sadly, my milkweed is shot...don't think there is enough to sustain the full life of a caterpillar.

Glad to see there was a visit by our eagles this morning! I am disturbed by the nest weather....40mph wind gusts, rain. I think the cam is not the only thing to worry about, given the already deteriorated condition of the Sycamore Palace :(

Good 'not raining here in the valley yet' Morning!
Thank you for all the details recorded about the Morning Visit - I pray our Eagle Couple and all God's creatures will be safe throughout the storm.
I was also very relieved and joy filled my heart to hear from Candy on FB and from Paula who is heading home!
I think our main concern is keeping our electrical power and that all the trees stand tall.

oh sorry about the milksnake, Lynne..but better to see that than a baby copperhead !
That would give me the CREEPS !
And I would be EVACUATING !

Steve decided we need more milk so he has gone to the store. I think he just needed to get out of the house for a bit. He has spent the last 2 days going to 14 different places (including Taco Bell, I must add) looking for a job. He is so stress and worried. We are going to be short on our rent payment for the 1st. Last night, there was discussion on returning the dogs to their rescues, and trying to find a really cheap place to live for now. Or selling our wedding bands. I'm so worried about him, he is just beating himself up over the events of the last few months....

Oh shoot Margy....too bad the weather is going to be less than lovely on your mini vacation! But hope you get all your things done and find some fun, too!

Wish we would know the whereabouts of

Good morning! Do not have time to read back on the blog. Take Jack to the airport in less than an hour. Will come home and then leave for Laurel's around 3:30.
Saw that Candy still has electricity. That is good! And I will be happy when I know Paula is home.

Hanging in there with my back. I did have a muscle spasm and now my back is so sore, really hurts.

Love the picture Hoda posted on fb. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful lady here with us!!!

Lynne, Steve is such a conscientious
guy - It's hard for him not to beat
himself up - but don't let him do that.
Find things for him to do around the
house to keep him busy (I'm sure you do) Prayers for both of you and
especially for that job to appear out
of the blue for Steve.

yeah Margy, I was sad about the MS. He was so colorful, and about 9 inches long. I wish we could just leave Brother in the house at night instead of on the sun porch, but he gets so obnoxious and wakes us up running across the bed when he decides he done being in the house and wants to go back out! GRRRRRRR

Karla did post birthday greetings to her Daddy on FB, so she's okay!

Lynne, did Steve get any possibles out of his job search? Feeling so bad for you.....this cloud has GOT to lift from over your heads...maybe Irene will blow it away. Prayers continue. Still don't understand why he's not getting U/E.

Mema Jo said...

Whoops! Hello Jim! Does it rain
is sunny California?

Lynne2 said...

JO, I have been doing exactly the opposite, doing most things so he won't have to worry about things around the house. Probably the wrong thing to do. Wish I was better at this being married thing. I'll find some things for him....
He was mostly discourage because he drove around to all of these different places hoping to fill out apps and maybe talk to someone in person, but many of them just told him he has to fill out an app online. We'll be doing that today.

magpie said...

Good Morning Jim....hope YOU West Coasters have some good weather today...

gotta do the same as Jo, shake along and get morning pills in...
started Calcium regimen this week, got to follow the plan...
thanks for the well-wishes Jo and Lynne...for the rest of my
"free time" - it will include the Little Man but I think Swimming is out of the question

God Bless Us, Every One

Hey LYNNE!

Keep your chin up! If you're saying prayers to the God who loves you and you're busy looking for a job, you are doing your part. And you know every Momster is praying, too. It'll come at the last minute, but know you're taken care of.
((((BIG HUGS for BOTH OF YOU))))

MARGY, your writing so SO FUN!
RE: Gassing up the buggy, and I loved the Stoney Path paraphrase. You are beautiful.

Checking in briefly.

Happy Birthday to Capt. Father Gene! Many more, please.

Margy, sorry about the verdict. Hope that your time off will help to compensate.

Paula, safe travels home.

Lynne2, prayers for Steve and you.

Raining quite hard now but no serious wind. Trying to get things done, last minute laundry, etc., in case power goes out.

BBL if power stays on.

May each and every momster and dadster be safe.

Lynne or others....- I have a dog food question for you. Recommendations for an older dog?? WE have fed Science Diet for years, but their first ingredient is whole grain corn (what does that mean?), chicken-by-product meal, animal fat... etc. I've always heard that corn isn't good to feed as a first product and to stay away from "by products."

Vets seem to recommend Science Diet, but I wonder.....

Riley seems to always go out to the field and eat something green out there. I wonder if he is lacking something in his diet.

Any suggestions? I've been researching and am still not sure what to do.

Blue looked good until I read some reviews from pet owners.

Would love some input from you or anyone else, because we are wanting to switch his food. He is a 65lb 10yr old Border Collie.

Lori O. said...

I just had to come in and tell you all that the vulture chick is really branching.

I went out to feed him before the storm and he was up in a tree over the barn! I'll get the pictures up later, I promise.
