JIM--It is getting WARM, here---close to 90---I bet HIEDY aka MIRACLE-- is burning up!!---She is so intelligent!!--None of the others have climbed upon the cam--& stared back at us!!--ho!
Hi Friends...am getting ready to shut down for the weekend...put in almost 60 hours this week at work and this girl is about done for. See our little Hidey is once again in the face of the cam...what a treat! I do wish you all the best of Holiday weekends...and wish I could join you all at the site, but really can't get the time into the weekend hours to do so. Take care...and Happy Weekend to all!
WHOA JIM!---You will have to ask TAI what I say to him--ho!---You don't think it's a bad sign when one begins to talk to a pic on her fridge---do you?---
Oh...i want to give her/him a drink of water...tongue is hanging out ...heavens...i do hope you all have a wonderful gathering at the site...am sure you will and what a wonderful way for the eagle watchers to be together...i dont want to leave the cam...but have alot of errands to run...always behind schedule on something :(
Yes...I know it is warm...I am right 'over the mountain' from this...in Cross Junction...and it is warm....i just would like to bring her/him a snowcone :) take care and i am going now...
Yes, Bozzet, they pant like a dog (not as slobbery though) and spread their wings and plump their feathers to get some cooler air circulating when it starts to get really hot and humid.
HI everybody!! Sorry I haven't had a chance to log in in the past week - hopefully everyone is doing well and ready for a great weekend!! Hey - does anyone know roughly how big Liberty and Belle's nest is??? Looks like Hidey is gonna "fly the coop" any day now, huh???
While finishing up leaf removal from dog yard, found that the nest under the steps...which I thought was barn swallows from activity seen in area...is in actuality a robin nest....first clue was finding blue shell on ground...when I looked up, little bobbleheads were hanging over edge of nest, panting in the warm weather. Quickly moved away and in came mama robin!
TH- One of the parents is sitting right down on the left, on a rock. Probably a little bit stressed, but the parents have seen these humans and might be a little familiar with this process.
That was a good show! TH cam frozen now - I'll check back on it later. Hopefully others were able to watch this or can see most of it on IWS forum pics and read their comments.
Hi, Everybody! Cut away to get coffee and breakfast earlier, and got SOOO busy I'm just now getting back! Boy, it must be really hot at the nest the way Hidey is panting! Don't have much time to talk, but did want to wish everybody a really nice and safe holiday weekend! Hope all you guys have fun at your get-together! Wish I could be there! :o[ Welcome to all the 'newbies', too! It's great to have you! I haven't been here all that long myself, but got HOOKED immediately! If you aren't hooked already, just you wait-- this place grows on you! Prayers for everyone's good health and safety! Take care... :o]
Garage vacuumed! Aren't I a busy bee??? Told ya' I was on countdown to June 15th!!! Have fun at the carnival, Paula! Drive safely, Sharon!! WhooHoo...only 17 hrs. til we see everyone!!!
OMG, YOU GUYS!!!! I have a male Bullock's Oriole on the hummingbird feeder!!!!!! What a coincidence-- wasn't someone talking about one earlier? Hey, I bet it's the one we had last summer. He's figured out how to slurp up some of the nectar. Pretty sharp! Color-wise, this guy is more yellow than a Baltimore-- I think the Baltimore is more orange, so doesn't look as bright.
Good evening, my wonderful eagle buds!! No internet connection at the camper but there is down here at the boat dock, so I thought I would jump on and see what was happening! I reckon Sher and Mattie are at Thelma's by now, or en route at least! I hope ya'll have a great nest visit tomorrow, wish I was there!!
I am just popping in for a minute or two & glad to hear from you Sissy.
We heard you went to the lake yesterday Are you bobbing up & down on that boat deck? Hope you and Tom have a relaxing weekend with some peace & quiet to boot!
Yeah, the bugs aren't too bad yet! Weather has been perfect!! Tom is chasing those elusive fish they say are in Claytor Lake, but he hasn't found em yet!
Sounds great, Sissy... best wishes for a wonderful, cough-free week-end, with lots of birds and wildflowers to see, and peace and relaxation. Happy Good Fishing Wishes to Tom ! xo ☺ ♥
I am home and tired. I caught up on the blog, glad Ms. BW got to see a Bullock's the one I saw was beautiful. I need to start a cheat sheet, so many new people, I forgot Ms. BW's real name. :(
Margy thank you for the card. Love the picture. I named it Belle. MM card got here also. Have a great time tomorrow. I know you all will. Hate to miss Gene's pulled pork and Wanda's mac & cheese. Should have sent some Baltimore Berger cookies.
Thanks, Ceil, on top of everything this week, I think I was overdoing the weekends, trying to cram all the fun in I could. I was going to do yard stuff tonight, but it is raining, probably a good thing.
Hi Everyone!!! Have most things crossed off my list for Athens travel preps. Actually got the BIG suitcase all zipped.(I have enough to stay there!!) Thought it weighed 1/2 ton, but only 30 lbs! Have to finish off little makeup case in AM w/toothbrush, etc.,find a place for electronic stuff like chargers, plug adapters, & do nails of course on all 4 limbs!!☺ If there is any way I can get on internet w/daughter's work laptop, will try to get some news thru either on Blog or email.Doubt if Fubby could get on Blog, but I'll write out a map!☺ Don't know if I'll get to a park or not---they seem to be out of subway range, which is what D & SIL use. Will be thinking of everyone at the Nest & elsewhere. My plane for JFK goes at 12:30 PM (you'll be having lunch!)& then nonstop to Greece. It will arrive 8AM Sun. their time, about 12M ours, I think. Was hoping it stopped in London & I could call Chrissy, but not so. I need to eat something....try to buzz back later ;>)
Today has been busy, sleeping, car check, etc etc...still have 120 + comments to catch up on.
You better get some sleep! You'll be on the road in, say 9 hours or so?
Looking forward to it too...hope work does not need me! I will have a major crying jag if so ! But I could make dinner if not the nest, or nest and not dinner I think, so I guess I could win EITHER way....xo
Back to business here...but you know I always say TTFN several times ☺
Ceil, We go on Delta, think the one from DC to NY is a commuter w/ TRAINED pilots, I hope. LOL Give my best to MM--sounds like she's really getting better. Deb, hope you get some rest and peace. Prayers to all I'm still here 'cuz wrote steps to get on Blog ☺, but now I better finish stuff--maybe even the dishes!!
Bye, bye Loretta....have a wonderful, safe and fun trip! Come back w/ lots of pics! How long will you be gone? We'll miss you tomorrow and everyday you're gone!
Lynn was exactly correct: There was a medium sized black snake enjoying the warm bricks of our 911 HQ building last night. Animal Control officer, ootched it along its way with a long-handled tool...carefully and gently.
That was so cool, loon went underwater and then popped up much closer to the nest, took her three tries to get those eggs the way she wanted them....Great viewing!
Deb, love your pics! The marmoset is one cool dude! I agree, you definitely need a weekend of pure rest! So I am going to pray that it keeps on raining in your area. I know that keeping busy has its advantage during difficult times, but we can't have you exhausted and then getting sick!
Back from the carnival...Cohen had the best time! Rode all the rides 2 and 3 times...played some games, won 2 carnival goldfish! Going to get things together for our visit tomorrow....will be leaving here at 9am...will try to check email before I go!
Good news, Ceil! Margy, glad it was "just" a black snake!!! Heading for tub...sure glad I washed my hair earlier...had a tick crawling in it! Will check back before early-turn-in! Big day tomorrow---can't wait! Just sorry we can't ALL be together!
EJ at Loch Garten in Scotland - hatched her first chick - earlier "today" that would be. Have not seen it yet, just read something that Chrissy had sent via email..something to watch for in the early morning hours ☺ Two other eggs underneath her I think. Maybe this news has already been posted on here, I still have not read backwards all the way.
Boo Ticks, Hedgie !
Sounds like a GREAT time at the carnival, Paula... I was just thinking about what a great night it was for such a thing ☺
Good evening! Busy day working in the yard. It looks so pretty and the weather is so fantastic. We have been eating all our meals on the patio and spend all our time out doors.
Happy story about our woodpecker. A Hairy woodpecker slammed hard into our kitchen window. It knocked him senseless!! Jack and I thought he was dying. He was breathing but just lay there. So Jack took him to a yard rubbish pile and put him there. Some time later, over an hour, Jack was out there by the rubbish pile and the woodpecker flew woozily out and up into a tree. Guess he survived!!! Poor thing!
Well, the first leg of the trip is over. We are finally in Bedford. I am so tired. Getting up early in the morning and heading north to the sycamore tree! YEAH!
EAGLE EXPRESS is all ready to "Fly" tomorrow. Food is resting in crock pots. Just need to remember to make carafe of coffee in the morning. If I forget, someone remind me and I'll make some in the EE. OH, DON'T FORGET YOUR EAGLE BEADS and wear them Proudly!
LOLLY, I have you all ready for dinner, I even painted your toenails!;)
Deb - it may not be your time for bed but I think from your typos you are ready and should go on in, Toady !!! I love it! You have had a long week and we so will miss you tomorrow but will be thinking of you all day! ((hugs))
Okay , Jo. I will use both hands instead of one. I am trying to talk on the phone and type at the same time. I am going though to take a hot bath and head for bed!
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!! See ya tomorrow! Hidey, get ready, your public and your #1 fans will arrive tomorrow!
Good night, fowl friends. See some in the morning, and others back here late tomorrow! Hope everyone has a wonderful Sat., whatever you end up doing! Know that we'll all be together in spirit!
I guess I had better head for bed. We have a long journey ahead of us tomorrow;) Hope I can sleep...My tummy is full of crab legs and have "tasted" everything that we cooked this evening...several times! Drank almost a whole pitcher of iced tea. Sometimes the tea makes me go and other times not. I hope tonight it is NOT:)
Lolly, you can go to bed now, your toenails are dry;)
DEB, do listen to your body and do what it tells you. It surely must be saying 'REST ME'!
I hope you all have a wonderful day today at the nest visit. Roger and I are going out birding, but we are staying close to home. So I won't get worn out by a long car drive. I hope we have time to go find the Osprey nest by Sioux City, the closest nest to us! It is from the Iowa Re-introduction program.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! I'm up early today, and thought I'd stop by the blog to see how Hidey's doing. Almost had a heart attack, because it looked like the nest was empty at first! Then I heard our Hidey, and with some careful watching, realized that she was up under the camera! Newbies, if you can't see her at first, try to look at the bottom right of the frame. If she moves, she may come into view. Well, gotta go get some coffee and wake up. Hope all you guys who are visiting our gorgeous eaglet have a fantastic time! I'll be thinking of you, wishing I could be there! Oh-- Lolly! That's wonderful that your Hairy Woodpecker survived! Poor thing must've had the wind knocked out of it-- bet it was in shock for a while. Golly, Hidey is hungry this morning, and telling the whole world about it! That's the way, Hidey! Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! (Or is it fish?!) SoCal weather report: 61 right now; expected hi 72. Should be cloudy in am, sunny later... TTFN-- BBL! :o]
MORNIN' DEB!---Have you in my thoughts---Are you going to CA--I am so far behind on the blog---But sending you love & just wish you strength---to comfort you!----You are a very special GAL!!----
WHOA----I wish I were going to the NEST!---It is such a BEAUTIFUL SUNNY--BLUE SKIES---bird singing day!!---I bet the most excited one today will be HIEDY aka MIRACLE!---That little one will probably burst into song!!---SHE IS SUCH A LITTLE SHOW OFF!---doesn't she do it well!!---I will be watching to see if PAULA climbs into the nest to get the 'resident turtle shell' for JO!!---ho!----I will be with you in spirit today!----LIFE IS GOOD--WHEN ONE IS WITH THE EAGLEMOMSTERS AT THE NEST!!!!
LOON is back on nest!---LARRY notes that an intruder LOON flew too close to his LOONS--thus the reason that MOMA LOON flew off the nest!!---drawing the intruder away from nest---

Oh wow, can see Hidey's tongue even!
No real plans for Memorial Day so far, Norma, but I haven't been retired exactly yet, so I don't exactly "think" I can't get out and do something fun.
Just go ahead and do it, and then blame it on the holiday if anybody asks. Hahahaha.

WHOA JIM!---You will have to ask TAI what I say to him--ho!---You don't think it's a bad sign when one begins to talk to a pic on her fridge---do you?---
Yes Boz, it is. It gets hot up in that nest and the only water they get is from the food they eat. I hope you have a good weekend also.

I need to break and get some things done so I can leave early morning!!!
BBILW
Not weird at all, Norma. At least you save it for pictures... just don't start in on the walls.
They are good at conversation anyway.. Better get some more eaglet pics, Norma.

Hidey has a visitor and jumped right down to greet parent! lol

I am going now to pick up Mattie. Still going to be a little while before we can head to Bedford.
NEED FOOD---later!
I gotta run too, those I don't see later, have a great and safe weekend!
Had lunch, caught up on the blog, time to head back to work.
Beaux...nest is a good 6 feet across!
And over 2 feet thick!
I have been scoping out the place for Starlet and can't seem to find it anywhere. Hopefully it learned how to fly.
That is great on the robins Lynn! I so love baby bird season.
Afternoon, all!
Busy day here! What happening on here....230 comments!
LOL Bozz---I'm sure Hidey would appreciate that snowcone!
Two Harbors Banding is happening right now!!!
TH eaglets safely snagged from the nest by Dr Sharpe, and taken off the nest for measuring and banding!
They are cleaning the lens at TH
Thanks Paula for reminding us.
Thanks Paula! I have 2 harbors up now and see the good Dr Sharpe - I can tell by his hat!
Great walking stick for retrieving your hat! lol
I think Stephanie's hat blew off. How does Dr. Sharpe keep his on?
Guess we all missed the boat again!
Ceil - was MM exam ok?
Jo they took the drain out and she goes back in two weeks.
She got the drain out already?? NO fair! :)
NO DRANO 2 WHoo Hoo!
She only had one big one Sharon and a friend of hers told me that she saw it the night before the operation and it looked like it was about to burst.
Can't imagine only 213 viewers for this banding!
Is the the parent that keeps flying by Dr. Sharpe and team
Are those the adults down on the left below TH nest?
I am also reading the IWS forum remarks
They think it is a parent doing the fly by
No one has mentioned that to be an eagle down on the left...... I was thinking it looked like one
Too still for a bird I think. Tried to call Helen. No answer
TH- One of the parents is sitting right down on the left, on a rock. Probably a little bit stressed, but the parents have seen these humans and might be a little familiar with this process.
Maybe we were right in what we
thought we saw!
My cam was frozen! Didn't know they still had it on the crew doing the banding!
Great pics on the forum from Naturegal!
Link to Banding Pics on IWS Forum
My cam was frozen at first but has been running well since I got it started.
thanks, for the heads up, Ceil, had to go get some YO BABY yogurt for the girls.
I don't think that's a parent down there...too still
Good lord my physicals do not take this long. LOL
This has been a 'sit in front of the computer' day!
UPDATE:
I think that "eagle" that we think we see is not one. Looks like a cactus!! (lower left side on "rock") It hasn't moved. I agree lol
If it flys - it's an EAGLE
They work on the eaglets one at a time.
Mowing is done!
We just had a lovely poop shoot at our nest!
see the eagle flying by alot now.
Parent is getting a little more edgy
Cam froze. Tried everything. BBL
TH back on the nest
That was a good show! TH cam frozen now - I'll check back on it later. Hopefully others were able to watch this or can see most of it on IWS forum pics and read their comments.
I have 2 Habors on live but don't see any eagle nest if empty?
Errands to run but need to check out Hidey before leaving.......
no eagles no eaglet nest is empty at 2 harbors
All is A OK at our nest!
BBILW
Dana - the banding is over and we think the cam may be frozen ==
They were placed back in the nest..
Go to my 3:45 for the IWS Forum Link for some good pics from Naturegirl
Thanks Jo ( :
My whole picture is shaking at 2 harbors.
I think someone is playing with the camera maybe??
Dana - IWS Forum Page 15 Paula's videos for you to view of the banding
They are trying to focus it. I see something a the left edge of nest.
Anyone else seeing anything?
OMG, this bird is going to give me a heart attack. Anyway, signing off, packing up and heading to Bedford. See you all when I get there!
Eaglets are back on the TH nest...either mad or playing the be still game
They have the cam fixed at 2 Harbors. I see 2 eaglets in nest with orange wing tags.
Thanks Jo Thanks Paula went to IWS and watched your videos of banding. GREAT ty for tapping Paula.
Catch ya'll tonight...heading to the Emmitsburg carnival w/ gkids tonight...
There is one more on youtube..will post them later to the em blog
Enjoy yourself Paula with the grandkids.

By the way, regarding the snake at 9-1-1 :
Lynn was exactly correct:
There was a medium sized black snake enjoying the warm bricks of our 911 HQ building last night. Animal Control officer, ootched it along its way with a long-handled tool...carefully and gently.
I guess we could have called 911 about it...☺
Thanks for the Loon Egg Alert
Lynne2 ! seeing them now
this is the first time I have seen the loon off the nest!
Sorry to hear you had a snake encounter!
That was so cool, loon went underwater and then popped up much closer to the nest, took her three tries to get those eggs the way she wanted them....Great viewing!
yep Lynn. Drain it out. Go back in two weeks.
I love watching the loon, teeny tiny approaching the nest, then waddling up and plop! Thanks again Lynne2 - ☺
They really are quite awkward out of the water, but she's got them all tucked in now! They should be hatching early next week!
Exquisite bird...same colors as a Panda ☺
is out. Missed the loon off the eggs
Good night all. Pleasant dreams.
Hedgie - MM drain was taken out & Ceil said she goes back in 2 weeks for exam.
Loon was quick - Just signed on and saw your remark but I missed seeing those 2 eggs.

Two other eggs underneath her I think.
YEAH!
Yay, Sharon and Mattie and Thelma!!
See ya tomorrow!
Got to go get stuff done! BBL

Things are rather dim and dreary looking at Finland Water nest, and it looks like there is a whole lot of more fluffy green things in the nest.
Great about the woodpecker!

I feel very tired and somewhat giddy!
You know what I mean Toady!

Looks like mammal to me, saw some little legs and a tiny tail
Okay , Jo. I will use both hands instead of one. I am trying to talk on the phone and type at the same time. I am going though to take a hot bath and head for bed!

See you locals tomorrow at 10ish.

Prayers for everyone's safe travel.
Oh, NCTC forecast says today's weather could be some intermittent
T-storms - only a 30% chance and a high of 85. Not much of a breeze either.
Okay, we are outtahere!! Will see you all in a little bit.
Have fun all those going to visit Hidey! Hope you have safe and fun trip! I'm jealous! :-D
Don't forget, lots of pictures are required!
Thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes to us Nest-Visitors...
and Best Wishes that the day holds special things for Everyone today
Deb
Hope you have a great day and see a few "new" birds...
(Or is it fish?!)
SoCal weather report: 61 right now; expected hi 72. Should be cloudy in am, sunny later...
