No real plans for Memorial Day so far, Norma, but I haven't been retired exactly yet, so I don't exactly "think" I can't get out and do something fun.

Just go ahead and do it, and then blame it on the holiday if anybody asks. Hahahaha.

Hi Friends...am getting ready to shut down for the weekend...put in almost 60 hours this week at work and this girl is about done for. See our little Hidey is once again in the face of the cam...what a treat! I do wish you all the best of Holiday weekends...and wish I could join you all at the site, but really can't get the time into the weekend hours to do so. Take care...and Happy Weekend to all!

Bozzett said...

PS - Hidey looks like she/he is 'panting'....is this expected on warm day like today?

normabyrd said...

WHOA JIM!---You will have to ask TAI what I say to him--ho!---You don't think it's a bad sign when one begins to talk to a pic on her fridge---do you?---

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yes Boz, it is. It gets hot up in that nest and the only water they get is from the food they eat. I hope you have a good weekend also.

Bozzett said...

Oh...i want to give her/him a drink of water...tongue is hanging out ...heavens...i do hope you all have a wonderful gathering at the site...am sure you will and what a wonderful way for the eagle watchers to be together...i dont want to leave the cam...but have alot of errands to run...always behind schedule on something :(

Hidey has a visitor and jumped right down to greet parent! lol

movin said...

Yes, Bozzet, they pant like a dog (not as slobbery though) and spread their wings and plump their feathers to get some cooler air circulating when it starts to get really hot and humid.

HI everybody!! Sorry I haven't had a chance to log in in the past week - hopefully everyone is doing well and ready for a great weekend!! Hey - does anyone know roughly how big Liberty and Belle's nest is??? Looks like Hidey is gonna "fly the coop" any day now, huh???

Lynne2 said...

I gotta run too, those I don't see later, have a great and safe weekend!

deb said...

Had lunch, caught up on the blog, time to head back to work.

hedgie said...

Beaux...nest is a good 6 feet across!

hedgie said...

While finishing up leaf removal from dog yard, found that the nest under the steps...which I thought was barn swallows from activity seen in area...is in actuality a robin nest....first clue was finding blue shell on ground...when I looked up, little bobbleheads were hanging over edge of nest, panting in the warm weather. Quickly moved away and in came mama robin!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And over 2 feet thick!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I have been scoping out the place for Starlet and can't seem to find it anywhere. Hopefully it learned how to fly.

That is great on the robins Lynn! I so love baby bird season.

paula eagleholic said...

Afternoon, all!

Busy day here! What happening on here....230 comments!

paula eagleholic said...

LOL Bozz---I'm sure Hidey would appreciate that snowcone!

paula eagleholic said...

Two Harbors Banding is happening right now!!!

paula eagleholic said...

TH eaglets safely snagged from the nest by Dr Sharpe, and taken off the nest for measuring and banding!

ceil said...

They are cleaning the lens at TH
Thanks Paula for reminding us.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Paula! I have 2 harbors up now and see the good Dr Sharpe - I can tell by his hat!

Mema Jo said...

Great walking stick for retrieving your hat! lol

ceil said...

I think Stephanie's hat blew off. How does Dr. Sharpe keep his on?

Mema Jo said...

Guess we all missed the boat again!

Ceil - was MM exam ok?

ceil said...

Jo they took the drain out and she goes back in two weeks.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

She got the drain out already?? NO fair! :)

Mema Jo said...

NO DRANO 2 WHoo Hoo!

ceil said...

She only had one big one Sharon and a friend of hers told me that she saw it the night before the operation and it looked like it was about to burst.

Mema Jo said...

Can't imagine only 213 viewers for this banding!

ceil said...

Is the the parent that keeps flying by Dr. Sharpe and team

hedgie said...

Are those the adults down on the left below TH nest?

Mema Jo said...

I am also reading the IWS forum remarks
They think it is a parent doing the fly by

Mema Jo said...

No one has mentioned that to be an eagle down on the left...... I was thinking it looked like one

ceil said...

Too still for a bird I think. Tried to call Helen. No answer

Mema Jo said...

TH- One of the parents is sitting right down on the left, on a rock. Probably a little bit stressed, but the parents have seen these humans and might be a little familiar with this process.

Maybe we were right in what we
thought we saw!

paula eagleholic said...

My cam was frozen! Didn't know they still had it on the crew doing the banding!

Mema Jo said...

Great pics on the forum from Naturegal!

Mits said...

thanks, for the heads up, Ceil, had to go get some YO BABY yogurt for the girls.

paula eagleholic said...

I don't think that's a parent down there...too still

ceil said...

Good lord my physicals do not take this long. LOL

Mema Jo said...

This has been a 'sit in front of the computer' day!

Mema Jo said...

UPDATE:
I think that "eagle" that we think we see is not one. Looks like a cactus!! (lower left side on "rock") It hasn't moved. I agree lol

Mema Jo said...

If it flys - it's an EAGLE

paula eagleholic said...

They work on the eaglets one at a time.

hedgie said...

Mowing is done!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We just had a lovely poop shoot at our nest!

Mits said...

see the eagle flying by alot now.

ceil said...

OMG, YOU GUYS!!!! I have a male Bullock's Oriole on the hummingbird feeder!!!!!! What a coincidence-- wasn't someone talking about one earlier? Hey, I bet it's the one we had last summer. He's figured out how to slurp up some of the nectar. Pretty sharp! Color-wise, this guy is more yellow than a Baltimore-- I think the Baltimore is more orange, so doesn't look as bright.

If there is any way I can get on internet w/daughter's work laptop, will try to get some news thru either on Blog or email.Doubt if Fubby could get on Blog, but I'll write out a map!☺ Don't know if I'll get to a park or not---they seem to be out of subway range, which is what D & SIL use.
Will be thinking of everyone at the Nest & elsewhere. My plane for JFK goes at 12:30 PM (you'll be having lunch!)& then nonstop to Greece. It will arrive 8AM Sun. their time, about 12M ours, I think. Was hoping it stopped in London & I could call Chrissy, but not so.

By the way, regarding the snake at 9-1-1 :

Lynn was exactly correct:
There was a medium sized black snake enjoying the warm bricks of our 911 HQ building last night. Animal Control officer, ootched it along its way with a long-handled tool...carefully and gently.

I guess we could have called 911 about it...☺

Good evening! Busy day working in the yard. It looks so pretty and the weather is so fantastic. We have been eating all our meals on the patio and spend all our time out doors.

Happy story about our woodpecker. A Hairy woodpecker slammed hard into our kitchen window. It knocked him senseless!! Jack and I thought he was dying. He was breathing but just lay there. So Jack took him to a yard rubbish pile and put him there. Some time later, over an hour, Jack was out there by the rubbish pile and the woodpecker flew woozily out and up into a tree. Guess he survived!!! Poor thing!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! I'm up early today, and thought I'd stop by the blog to see how Hidey's doing. Almost had a heart attack, because it looked like the nest was empty at first! Then I heard our Hidey, and with some careful watching, realized that she was up under the camera! Newbies, if you can't see her at first, try to look at the bottom right of the frame. If she moves, she may come into view. Well, gotta go get some coffee and wake up. Hope all you guys who are visiting our gorgeous eaglet have a fantastic time! I'll be thinking of you, wishing I could be there! Oh-- Lolly! That's wonderful that your Hairy Woodpecker survived! Poor thing must've had the wind knocked out of it-- bet it was in shock for a while. Golly, Hidey is hungry this morning, and telling the whole world about it! That's the way, Hidey! Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! (Or is it fish?!)
SoCal weather report: 61 right now; expected hi 72. Should be cloudy in am, sunny later...
TTFN-- BBL! :o]
