Here in Baltimore, we have a light covering of snow on the ground & trees. They don't really expect much additional since, the streets and walkways were in full sun for the past 3 days.
How is it nearer the nest? I remember what happened in 2007.
Good morning all:) Don't worry, like Wanda said, just a light dusting of snow here. I'm quite sure those eggs are warm and dry. She was doing a wonderful job of tenting over them last night during the snow.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!----CONGRATS!!---HARBINGERDC---you are our #1 EAGLE MOMMA/DAD today & every day!!!---Thanks! It's so much harder to keep an eye on the nest when you have to work! LOL I am trying to keep a window open so I can jump over every so often and hope to catch a "changing of the guard" and/or and egg rolling. I can't wait to see the new egg.
HO!! Welcome Back, Norma!! At Park now--no eagle sighting at the nest here (altho that doesn't mean no one's home!)& now much heavier flakes falling. Above freezing, so hopefully won't stick.
MORNIN' NATURENUT!!!---Yesterday am I had Dr. appt in Winchester---prayed I would get home before snow!!----SUNNY am & by noon---snow began--dinner time---LOTS OF SNOW!!-----GOD IS GOOD!!---

Good morning all. Harbingerdc. Where about in Baltimore did you live? I am in the Federal Hill area. With this quick egg bet we will have 3 soon. They are such good eagles.
hi Deb, Thanks The closeup of the breast feathers almost look like hearts. Atleast that what I think of when I see them. Back down on the nest... I did not want to mention three eggs.. I might jinks it...

Welc☺me and Hell☺ to lots of folks that are new to this newbie, : Danelle, Donnie, Harbingerdc, and I know there are a couple I need to find from another thread. ☺
Hey, Margy... I managed to get a photo on Momsters Album ALL BY MYSELF..and it went to the right place. I am learning:) It is when I have a lot of them, that I don't do well:( Feeling any better?
DONNIE, your photos just BLEW ME AWAY! Thanks for sharing your talents with us:)
We have so many talented photographers on this blog...I think you should all collaborate on a book. It would make a wonderful coffee table book:) Some of the proceeds could go to the NCTC Camera Fund..Yes??
DION was on during the night asking this question...maybe some off our experts can answer this...
Dion said... I was told last year the she could not see the light. I'm questioning that now. Why would she lay the eggs outside the light? On the outside edge away from the light? Wouldn't the bottom of the nest provide the best protection from wind and predictors?
That little pig has a broken wing, It's only plastic, I got it for .99 on Big Lots clearence rack. Nobody else wanted it. I do that with things nobody else wants, give it a home. THat's why it 's starting to look like a junk yard around the garden...
the Cam has an infrared light that will shine an invisible light on the action at night (infrared does not disturb animals) so you can continue watching in total darkness.
There is a camera/photo club that meets at NCTC... yes? Do any of you go? I have no idea what I'm doing with that camera, it's way smarter then I am : )
Here's Lisa's answer from last year-The Eagle Cam uses infrared technology (like the military uses) to provide "night vision," so there is no light shining on the eagles in the evening -- it just looks that way. As far as where the nest cup is, apparently the eagles think that's the best spot.
The other day I thought they were in a different spot than before for the egg cup. I think the camera view is different this year and that is what is making it look different.
Thanks Margy, when I went to put the new one in my favs, said I already had it in my favs, and it erased the original one and put the new one in...does that make any sense.got to find a new place for the old one I guess
Wanted to respond to Dion's ??s this AM on old thread RE: placement of nest bowl. The infra-red light can not be seen by the birds altho it looks bright to us. They have always seemed to build their nest bowl in that top area of the nest & it is pretty deep. And there was no "night-light" in previous years. ☺
MITS, I have to find a moniker for them that will make it different for me. That is an all-day fish that bird has in Maine, I suspect it is the female, don't know why she wouldn't share more..
Sissy Once I finally learned the blue link thing, it was great, but I still have the little instructions in my Eagle folder here at the computer...haven't memorized it YET !
MORNIN' MARGIE!!---I am so sorry you haven't been feeling well!---That's a BUMMER!!---We have had lousy weather too!---The SNOW that came yesterday---seemed to perk everyone up!---ho!--HAVE YOU HAD YOUR PARTY YET??---I am still not with the program!!---Will keep you in my thoughts KID!!!--STAY COOL!!!
Sharon - I too thought the egg cup was more toward the center of the nest when I first saw it. Now it looks the same place it's been for the last 3 years.
He is headed to Fort Morgan first then on to Ohio! Fort Morgan is where you get your first glimpse of the Rockies when you are headed to Denver on I76.
Perfect time for a moniker like that, Harbingerdc...since our eggs are filling the nest now... "Harbinger of Spring" is when I have most heard that word used. ☺
Deb, when I shut down around midnight last night he was still at the same TS, that must have been a really late delivery....you could see the moon setting in the west
Correction--Lisa via Megan Our snow has stopped here but it's cold and grey :>( Hope to see some sun later & the snow has melted so I can search again for my lost earring. Already ordered another pair--but quite different. Daughter bought it from Indian ladies vendor stand at South Rim of GC, so NO store to place an order.
Loretta, I feel your pain...same thing happened to me a while back. Gold earrings, a Christmas gift from Gene last year. Still looking. Maybe you can have a pin or necklace made out of the remaining earring??
They don't get a lot of snow in the Denver area that stays around for long, snows and then melts in a couple of days. Same thing with Colorado Springs.
Good Morning! Sun is shinning on my snow covered deck! Snow will be gone soon! I was reading comments before saying hello & WELCOME BACK TO THE NEST NORMA ALSO WELCOME BACK TO Donnie, Harbingerdc and Dion & all of you out there enjoying our 2009 season's beginning!
Mits, I missed the sunset yesterday in Colorado. BRS is driving to Ft. Morgan, Co to pick up a new load to take to Baltimore, Ohio. He is just going back and forth across the midwest.
Great thinking Mits! I read the entire story about TK (Truck Kat) on his site..... That was so well written about how he got her and especially how he lost her a couple of times! The picture gallery was great! TK has taken over that rig!!
I can tell you that it was not Sissy as she is absolutely petrified of spiders. She called me one times screaming that there was a spider in her kitchen. Thought someone was dying.
Hope you're not sending that SPIDER GAME, Dana! lol I have been playing it and trying to get my cat to notice it on the screen. BUT I didn't want to set anyone off! Definitely not MEGAN Anyway Thanks For Asking! lol
With the egg well situated off to the far right side it will be easier for mom and dad to feed the eaglets! Leaves a lot of open space also for when they start be-bopping around the nest!
We're supposed to sign a lease this week or weekend (hopefully) on a place about 9 blocks away with a much bigger yard that the dogs will enjoy a lot more. Rent is only $25 a month more and includes yard service (front and back!).
My Zebra finch babies are doing quite well, #1 and #2 chicks have been perched outside the nest the last three and two days, respectively; #3 is not quite there yet, having hatched a few days later and having been smaller and slower-developing than the first two. Of course, I'll be updating the blog when I can! As far as names are concerned, the parents are This and That and I've just been calling the chicks #1, #2 or #3 :P Not the weirdest-named birds I have: my orange bishop weavers are Dennis, Dream and Sigourney (get it?).
The baby bird season has started early here; another rehabber got in three baby quail at the beginning of January, the Game & Fish department sent over a nearly-fledged hummingbird chick last week (they take about a month from hatch to flight), and the starling males have yellow beaks already (the first real indicator is when the starlings' beaks turn yellow). It would seem that it will be a busier baby bird season than usual if they're starting two months early!
I'm excited about our own potential baby birds, hoping Liberty and Belle have another wildly (get it?) successful year. I tell so many people about our little group, the webcam, and the blog. You guys are like another branch (ha-ha, OK, I'll stop with the birdbrained jokes) of my family.
And speaking of which, thank you to all who sent me cards this past holiday season, it was so nice to get so many! I was at Barnes & Noble this last weekend and found some beautiful cards in their $1 clearance bin, and snapped them up for use this year! I'll be sure to send my new address out, and update the mailing list chart as well, once I've signed the lease on the new place.
So, everyone, take care, I'll pop in again when I can, good luck and health to you all and to Liberty, Belle, and their eggs!
Delphia it sounds like a better place (yard service included oh yea) and babies are growing...things are better...stress less I hope. Keeping you in prayer for I know how your health can be...here's a BIG WISH FOR GOOD HEALTH.
Yep, sun is shining brightly and snow is melting here quickly. Great update, Delphia, love all the bird stories. Keeping my fingers crossed you get that new house.
Did Suz NOT go into work today? I hadn't heard from her in my emails and usually I have a few waiting for me.
Dana - I am one who is not afraid of spiders. I think someone from the KENT FORUM sent it to me knowing I have cats and so does she. I wanted to send it out but like you I couldn't remember during the spider conversations who it was that didn't mind spiders. BE SURE TO WATCH the short videos up to the left of the spider of the cats trying to catch it on the videos! Very funny!
Headed out soon for CT - Glad the weather is decent enough to get where I am going! Keep those good comments coming so I can see what I may have missed! Oh yes! That is not Connecticut (CT) It's xray CT
Had to come back Danelle to answer you! Sandy and Tom are both doing very well. I stopped by right before Christmas & visited and Megan had been seeing them at market. They have a beautiful granddaughter now - Mabel and they adore her. I'll let her now you asked about her when I see her again.
don't thank me, thank Deb....she showed me in a way I could understand, and I keep her cheat sheet right by the puter....my mind does not always remember things like that....

Sun is shining brightly here.
Yes, Norma, inquiring minds want to know, what was wrong with your computer??
Margy hope you feel much much better. If it were the stomach virus. You wouldn't feel better for about 2 wks.
Maine is a beautiful site.
Donnie I know someone that just loves "pig statues". She doesn't have that one.
2nd Eagle at Maine, 1st one might not want to share
Hey, Margy... I managed to get a photo on Momsters Album ALL BY MYSELF..and it went to the right place. I am learning:) It is when I have a lot of them, that I don't do well:(
Feeling any better?
Hey Bev- you got mail again-
DONNIE, your photos just BLEW ME AWAY!
Dion said...

what an EGGcellent idea, Wanda!
Close up of two eagles at Norfolk on a limb.
Margy hope you feel 100% soon.
That little pig has a broken wing, It's only plastic, I got it for .99 on Big Lots clearence rack. Nobody else wanted it. I do that with things nobody else wants, give it a home. THat's why it 's starting to look like a junk yard around the garden...
WHOS on the nest now? They look the same to me>
Great Idea, Wanda...!
2nd Eagle left Maine, now the first one is chowing down again.
I'm thinking Belle is going to have to get UP to move that stick crossing her face.
Yes, feeling somewhat better, thanks.
Dana, don't think it is the two-week thing, maybe just a two-day thing.
the Cam has an infrared light that will shine an invisible light on the action at night (infrared does not disturb animals) so you can continue watching in total darkness.
love when they zoom in at NBG....wet eagle at BWO
There is a camera/photo club that meets at NCTC... yes?
Do any of you go?
I have no idea what I'm doing with that camera, it's way smarter then I am : )
I must not have the correct Maine up, have the 2 cam page and I'm not seeing any eagle???
I'm proud of you Wanda.. isn't it Great to achieve something you have been working on? Like solving a mystery...☺
Here's Lisa's answer from last year-The Eagle Cam uses infrared technology (like the military uses) to provide "night vision," so there is no light shining on the eagles in the evening -- it just looks that way.
As far as where the nest cup is, apparently the eagles think that's the best spot.
This one, Mits:
Maine with Eagle
The eagle is in the original Maine nest, not the new one. I lost the link to the new one.
That is Maine 2 that you have up, Helen. You need the original Maine up.
Nasty weather up in Maine.
Contragulations Wanda on the album
Egg turning OUR Nest
The other day I thought they were in a different spot than before for the egg cup. I think the camera view is different this year and that is what is making it look different.
Look now! Rolling
Boy, she's quick..gotta keep em warm...
I lost the Maine cam 2 also Megan.
Hey Paula, can we have the new Maine cam link again?? I can't find where I saved it...
Okay, I surrender the link thing till I get off of work. It is just driving me crazy!!
Thanks Megan!
Sorry, Sissy, once you do it one time successfully, it will all make perfect sense.
Welcome back Norma...and glad to see you too, Harbinger!
Did Lib 'FENCE HER IN"? Tee Hee
Thanks Margy, when I went to put the new one in my favs, said I already had it in my favs, and it erased the original one and put the new one in...does that make any sense.got to find a new place for the old one I guess
Looks like some sun in the nest!

And hello Dion and Donnie.
Harbinger - which superhero is your avatar?
Sharon - I too thought the egg cup was more toward the center of the nest when I first saw it. Now it looks the same place it's been for the last 3 years.
Thanks, Margy, that one worked perfectly and I like that it opens right up in the REAL live feed...
Had not read back---see Lisa also responded about light.
Let me see, what party would that be, Norma... - I did have a nice Sunday afternoon "party" with Gene, Wanda, and GeeGee...☺
Sissy figuring out where there are spaces and NO spaces is what got me slowed down at first.
Maine cam #2
Harbinger from the DC comic book series Crisis on Infinite Earths. From back in the mid to late 80's.
so Paula, those two cam pics are of the same nest...?
Thanks, Paula:)
I think Liberty needs to come in and move that stick from Belle's neck...
DANA and PAULA, thank you for your instructions on placing photos on the Momsters Page:):)
BRS is on the move, driving through the parking lot.
WOW!!---BEAUTIFUL EAGLE 'swinging & swaying' in the ME NEST!!---Be still my heart!!----(takes so little to make me happy)---
She's pretty Harbinberdc...
I see we have a little snow in the nest.
PAULA, you have mail
Are we supposed to have sound with the video?
He is headed to Fort Morgan first then on to Ohio! Fort Morgan is where you get your first glimpse of the Rockies when you are headed to Denver on I76.

yes we are Danelle, but they turned it off yesterday.
MT NEST---FINNEY site!
I'm watching LW waiting on an Eagle so we can holler for Mema...
I thnk that is her second favorite to NCTC...
not counting the Puppy and the Kitty Cam.

Better the Butt than the Head for that stick I guess.
hmmm, BRS is in Colorado and there is now snow....here in DC I see snow, what is wrong with that picture?
Loretta, I feel your pain...same thing happened to me a while back. Gold earrings, a Christmas gift from Gene last year. Still looking.
Maybe you can have a pin or necklace made out of the remaining earring??
Yes, Mits - Maine #2 - same nest, 2 views.
Cool Harbinger....I'll have to google her later...
They don't get a lot of snow in the Denver area that stays around for long, snows and then melts in a couple of days. Same thing with Colorado Springs.
well that will be interesting to see, thanks, Paula
Good Morning! Sun is shinning on my snow covered deck! Snow will be gone soon!

Delphia, after you tell us about your birds...tell us how you have been feeling? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I'm going from prone to supine.
Thanks for the well wishes.
See you and the Eagles and the eggs later.
xo
human beings in the orangutan building at NZ, looks like some maintenance work
Who was it that said they were NOT afraid of spiders on our blog??
I can tell you that it was not Sissy as she is absolutely petrified of spiders. She called me one times screaming that there was a spider in her kitchen. Thought someone was dying.
Hope you're not sending that SPIDER GAME, Dana! lol
I have been playing it and trying to get my cat to notice it on the screen.

Definitely not MEGAN
Anyway Thanks For Asking! lol

Someone sent it to you Jo???
I wouldn't send that to just anyone. Only someone that wasn't afraid of spiders.
WELL....

DANA---I said I wasn't afraid of spiders!!-----Don't kill them in my house!!!

Very funny!
Well Magpie Glad to read you are flipping over that squased bug or whatever. Do hope you feel better and better as day goes by.

Hi Mema Jo! It's good to be back. I'm able to pop in now and then while working at the hospital.
Has anyone heard from Sandy Osbourn? It's been a loooong time since I've talked to or seen her.
Headed out soon for CT - Glad the weather is decent enough to get where I am going! Keep those good comments coming so I can see what I may have missed!
