Yes Sissy, Just got to see Belle before she left. Then I had to read all about the road trip to New Orleans last night. The late night ladies are getting fisty. lol
Morning Red and Sissy! Can I come for breakfast, Red? What goes with the biscuits?? Sausage gravy, maybe? Sissy, glad you are feeling better. Sciatica is a killer...that has been plaquing Margy lately, too. You HAVE had a heck of a year....things have to get better for our Bluefield girls!
Good Morning Sissy and Red... I missed our visit, darn! The wind is VERY fierce here right now. Suppose to be 45-50 MPH most of the day...may not see much of Lib and Belle. Watch the Bourbon Street Cam, when you have time. It was quite a treat last night;)
I see the road trips got embellished after I left last night! Went to NO the Day of Mardi Gras, but got out of town before evening! It is bedlam. Daughter & SIL were in Mobile then. We went to many of their parades---good & not as rowdy. They hold parades every day for week or 2 before MG.
Maybe Margy can give me some tips about this sciatica thing. It is really hard to sit and type, hurts down my leg like crazy!! Wonder if the wreck could have caused this??
I had to mute the sound on our cam so I could hear the doctor's voice. It is really windy. It is windy here too but I don't think it is that bad. Of course, I don't have the sound of it whistling through my head from outside here.
Hello all:) Gonna be a wild weather day here- High Wind Warning in effect for the Baltimore Metro area from 9 am to 10 PM... A strong cold front will continue to move across the mid Atlantic region today. By mid morning...the front will be located near the Chesapeake Bay...and will bring wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph to the Baltimore Metro area. Gusty winds will continue through much of the day as the pressure gradient will remain tight.
Well I have been on Burbon Street druing Mardi Gras and I'm glad to be alive to tell about it. I would never go again. I was young then and really had a good time but it's sure not a place to be if you cannot stand for hours with partying drunks. lol I'll watch it on TV now, thank you. lol
Darn, missed the party last night. I have only been to NO once, back in the 90's. We were there for the national football championship, it was Florida against Florida State...love Cafe Du Mode for their beignets and also love muffaletta sandwiches....
Hedgie, this morning its just sausage and biscuits. Some mornings I have sausage gravy and some mornings just biscuits and bacon. Sometimes biscuits and Sorghum Syrup. But almost always I have biscuits.
Bisquits w/ ANY accompaniment are good, Red!! Sissy, best medical advice I can give is anti-inflammatories, AND--which will make it difficult to work--lie flat on your back with your legs elevated, bent at knee as if you were sitting in a straight chair, and moist heat!
Wind Advisory in effect until 10 PM EST this evening... Today Mostly cloudy with isolated snow showers this morning... then partly sunny this afternoon. Very windy with highs in the upper 30s. Good New Years Eve morning to LYNN, RED, HEDGIE, HELEN, WANDA, LORETTA, MEGAN ALL ALL EAGLE MOMSTERS AND DADSTERS OUT THERE! I had a hard time getting on the cam and blog this am and see where I missed the short visit. :( Oh well, maybe later.
We have a few flurries falling out here right now. Had to go fill up my bird feeders and it is cold. It was 44 when I got up at 5 a.m. and it is 33 now. BBRR!
Wish I was there for the party in NO last night. Never been there, but JO I do know what you have to do to get the beads. Shame on you gals for getting after JO. :) Of course she knew what to do to get the beads and she was happy with them. :)
GOOD NEW YEAR'S EVE MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!----STEVEN---RED---SISSY---HEDGIE---NATURENUT---WANDA---HELEN---& FLORAL GIRL!!----The wind ROARED ALL NIGHT & is continuing with snow flurries!---33° now & expected to drop this evening!!----ENJOY our last day of viewing 'PRINCE X'---AWESOME LITTLE IMP!!
Right now we have 55 degrees with wind out of the SW, bringing me the smells of Red's breakfast, but you people will be sending your cold front and winds to us by this afternoon when it changes to the NW, they are afraid of it having a drying effect on our land. NO BURNING!! but the someone always thinks that they know what they are doing.
CONGRATS! RED---our #1 EAGLE DAD today & every day---I think I just read our EAGLE DAD has invited us over for a sausage biscuit breakfast!!-----REMEMBER!!---We can drop in at LOLLY'S CAFE for SAUSAGE & HOME MADE BREAD on Fri am!!----ho!
Good moning NORMA. You better not get any breakfast from RED, as I could smell it carried on the SW inds at my house and never got any. :) Did you say LOLLY's on Friday? :(
GOOD MORNING SANDY & TOM!!---(if you are up yet)---ho!---Wanted to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!---& sending LOVE & GOOD WISHES to BEAUTIFUL BABY MABEL!!---Enjoy her visit!!
Looks like they had a dusting of snow on the Pa cam. MT as of yet. NORMA the water is clear of your divers now, but you had better be on your toes today. You missed the one yesterday! :)
MORNIN' HELEN---Any new update on CEIL & MM?----I had checked the OREGON nest yesterday & the only snow was on the nest---area around it was bare!!---Wish them safe traveling!
HEDIGE I sure wish you would send some of those flurries (I said flurries) down my way. I just love it when it first comes down, so quiet, peaceful and white. It is the shoveling, driving and changing made plans I can do without.
WHOA SISSY!!---I wondered why we had not heard much from BLUEFIELD yesterday morning---Oh!--Wish I could hug you & make it go away!---You need a break from all of this pain!!---I agree that could have happened when the car hit you---Will keep you in my prayers---& thoughts!!----Thank goodness SHARON is feeling better!!
Yeah, we have a saying at my house-the only good squirrel is a dead squirrel...ooops, sorry, too gruesome, but true... Going to be a long day with fingers crossed that the power stays on. Wind gusts are fierce, averaging 25-30 mph.
If it ain't one thing, it's two!! This is the first time I have ever had any kind of back trouble. And I thought it was my hip and leg, not my back. Doesn't hurt in my back, just down my leg like no stopping!! But it could be so much worse. We are doing just fine!!
It's getting that way here and everywhere else I think. And the song is right. When I call my bank the first thing I have to do is press "1" for English. Thats just not right.
Sissy, You have had more than your share of pain this year. I wish there was something I could do to help. Maybe 2009 will be a much better year for you and your family.
Sissy, the sciatic nerve branches off from the spinal canal....impingement, inflammation, swelling, and even degenerative arthritis can cause it to act up and hurt like h....there are even instances, called old-fashioned "milk leg" where it can come from childbirth (being in stirrups for a prolonged period)!! But, yes, it could be a result of the wreck. If not better soon, see dr. for an MRI!
Good Morning Everyone... December and 2008 are going to go out like Lion ! Wind is going to make for a busy time at work tonight, on top of it being New Year's Eve :(
Sissy: Sorry to hear of the Sciatica pain, and I would say it sure could be related to your accident...so get it checked out as soon as you can. There are several good stretching excercies someone - a physical therapist or chiropractor - should be able to coach you through. That helps, some, and getting lots of rest, if possible. When I have an episode of it it totally zaps my energy.
Well, I hope everyone can avoid having to be out in the weather today. Hope the Southern skies will be clear for the Moon and Planets show tonight.
Wow-just took the dog out-wind gust of 37 mph and flurries coming down sideways. Have to go to get kid a haircut...hate to go out in this, but I must. As for 2008-I can't wait to see it go, financially devastating year for us- hope 2009 is better for us-but things ain't looking to rosy yet.. Later- hold onto your hats!!
MORNIN' MEGAN!!---I am not fond of squirrels either!!----ho!----If our electric didn't go out last night---you are safe!---The wind about blew my house off the hill!!---It almost sounded as loud as our nest does at times!!---
Good morning MARGY. Sorry to hear that you have to work tonight. What a night to be there. You will be kept busy, that is for sure. Sometimes at Christmas and New Years and Thanksgiving, people would bring in a bunch of food for the 911 operators to eat, so they could celebrate too.
MORNIN' DEB!----WOW!---Now that's cold!---It's a WARM 31° here now!--We are supposed to get FRIGID weather here tonight!!!-----Do you let your dogs out in that weather??
Going back to hospital again today to help my friend. THink I better get the curling iron job done...very much afraid we will lose power. So far so good for you, Helen?!? If you are on the laptop, and with Verizon, can you still compute if the power goes out?
WOW You can all thank me for the eagles as I just left to get something to munch on. Those poor things are having a terrible time fighting the wind. They should turn around.
Megan, if you hold control and turn mouse wheel back a bit, it will center it better...even tho' it does make it a bit smaller! Sorry your year has been so bad...will pray for better luck for you for 2009...perpetual farming conundrum, huh?
Thanks, quite used to the tight farming funds, it's the collapse of the housing industry that has thrown us into a freefall. Hubby lost his job last Thanksgiving. We are living on love..... gotta run-later:)
It sure seems like all the nest are getting a lot of bonding with their couples this season - earlier than the last couple of seasons! Scares me that it hasn't snowed yet around here!
Guess I better go get ready. Can't believe that this is my last view of our little one....but what a great view it was! And a great visit by our resident eagles! Good morning all around, despite the wind!!! Talk to you all this evening. Stay safe.
LUN LUN doesn't seem to mind if she hits the LITTLE LOVE BUG on the head!!----She is going to eat her BAMBOO!!!----PRINCE XI should bit down real hard!!---ho!---kiddin'----HE IS AWESOME!!---SISSY---just "1" hug would suffice!!!--
Hey NORMA, if your birthday is close at hand, you can ask for a soft, cuddly, stuffed bear that you could keep beside you. That would work and they don't have to be fed or anything.
CANDY!----That's what my youngest grand-daughter received instead of a doll!!----I haven't seen it but she was attempting to tell me all the things her "PANDA" does!!!---She corrected me when I referred to the BEAR---It's a PANDA!!!!
WOW! We've had a bout of snow flurries here at Largo office! I didn't see that on the weather??!! Before I got out of my driveway at home, a big tree branch from 2 houses down fell into the road. Missed me!
Thx Candy. Now the sun is out--go figure!I parked away from a couple trees. Mostly open fields here---pwind really blows thru.Maybe the power will go out!!!LOL
Wednesday, December 31 Xi Lan has been trying to climb over the threshold between the dens for the past week or so. Tuesday evening I saw him finally make it over into Den 3 from Den 2! It will probably take a few days before he can climb from den to den with ease, but he is almost there. I cannot believe how fast he is growing. It seems like he learned to walk overnight and now he is already learning to move from den to den! I agree with Dr. Snyder that this age is the cutest time for giant panda cubs. It is fascinating to watch them learn and discover things. For months, all the cub knows about the world is its mother, but once it becomes mobile, the world opens up. Everything is new and must be explored. It is a very exciting time!
Xi Lan was also weighed yesterday before he went out to meet his adoring fans. He weighed 6.6 kg. Heather Baker Roberts Carnivore Keeper I
Just the cow and her calf have been here since Sunday. Primo, Alfalfa and a single cow were here Saturday evening but left sometime that night. There was another cow here yesterday morning but all I saw was her rear end as the mother cow chased her off. Don’t know if any one will be back. Once they are gone for more than 48 hrs they don’t tend to return
Oh yeah, wanted to give ya'll an update on our little dachshund. He is getting hair on his back now and doing really good. Chasing the cat around the house, barking at everything. Can really tell he hasn't been around alot of people or activity in his life. So our rowdy family is flipping him out but he is adapting more and more and he loves it here.
Just saw a pile of Gobblers at Pix PA and the male cardinals have been there a lot today too. So pretty to see that color on the otherwise rather drab view, also like it when the Blue Jays show up.
Very windy, all right, hope we don't lose power, telephone, Internet! and this communication link.
Thought I was going to see a Snow Bow this morning, snowing hard and sun shining..
OUR NEST tree sure is swaying with the breeze....good thing the nest weighs as much as it does....a ton yet?
Have to stop playing and get a nap in before work tonight, so this could be IT for 2008 for me. But I will be checking in before I go to work...and one last look at Baby Panda...
Congratulations Mason for waking up in 2008 !!
Happy New Year, Everyone. Thanks for all the fun, friendship and support. xoxo ♥ ♥

"Here's a tidbit of news I recently heard for those stressing over the end of the panda cam. Rumor has it that....."
......one of the persistant members on the Hancock forum has actually been in phone contact with a zoo board member and a high ranking zoo official...."begging". Supposedly there is a contract for showing the cam with Earthlink all but done...we will know probably after the Holidays if it's a go. Keep your talons and claws crossed for good news!!!

she is hanging on, look at her talons dug in
Nope...guess it's just not refreshing too fast! Aren't they loverly?

Megan, if you hold control and turn mouse wheel back a bit, it will center it better...even tho' it does make it a bit smaller!
Sorry your year has been so bad...will pray for better luck for you for 2009...perpetual farming conundrum, huh?
I was wondering why his beak was open, but no sound was coming out!! Then, wham bam!
OH YEAH PAULA!!---Love your AVATAR!
Thanks, quite used to the tight farming funds, it's the collapse of the housing industry that has thrown us into a freefall. Hubby lost his job last Thanksgiving. We are living on love..... gotta run-later:)
HE IS A SILENT LOVER;)
It sure seems like all the nest are getting a lot of bonding with their couples this season - earlier than the last couple of seasons!
Scares me that it hasn't snowed yet around here!
Good Morning
QUICK... look at Lil Luney and Lun!!!
Sissy...yoo-hoo Sissy!!! Look!!!
----THANK YOU MAM'!
MORNING, JO
WIsh we could capture that!!
I think either Luney wants Mom to stop eating so he can get a little nourishment or he would like her to give him a little.
you party girl, you.....getting those beads....
Can't tell for sure whether he's nursing, or playing with the bamboo!!
he is nursing, pandas have 4 tits
I think a little of both!! Oh Lord, he is absolutely beautiful!!
now he is headed to the upper ones.
Then they should get lots of beads in NO!! oops, I'm gone...
Hey Mom, it's my turn. Come on.
Guess I better go get ready. Can't believe that this is my last view of our little one....but what a great view it was! And a great visit by our resident eagles! Good morning all around, despite the wind!!!
Talk to you all this evening. Stay safe.
Belle still hanging in there....Lib has been gone...
looks like she is trying to take off
LUN LUN doesn't seem to mind if she hits the LITTLE LOVE BUG on the head!!----She is going to eat her BAMBOO!!!----PRINCE XI should bit down real hard!!---ho!---kiddin'----HE IS AWESOME!!---SISSY---just "1" hug would suffice!!!--
Way to go Belle! That is one strong determined bird. She is staying on the job of holding the nest together in the winds. :)
DEB!---Your dogs are adorable!!--Bet they are mischievous too!!
poof....
Norma, my dogs are 14 now, past mischievous.
Belle flew the coop
Hey NORMA, if your birthday is close at hand, you can ask for a soft, cuddly, stuffed bear that you could keep beside you. That would work and they don't have to be fed or anything.
it is snowing like crazy here, and lights are blinking,,,will try to get shower and dry hair before light go out
Awwwwww
CANDY!----That's what my youngest grand-daughter received instead of a doll!!----I haven't seen it but she was attempting to tell me all the things her "PANDA" does!!!---She corrected me when I referred to the BEAR---It's a PANDA!!!!
Luney says that he wants to lay now. LOL I wonder who will win the battle. I think Mom is hoping to get him fed and then asleep.
Bye HEDGIE!---I have to get off too!---lady who helps me is coming----didn't really want her to but---
maybe later!---
She is right NORMA. We learn that in Kindergarten. Maybe someone should warn your great grandaughter that you are looking for a soft cuddly panda. :)
NORMA I stand corrected. See what b eing off school a few days will do to ones mind. It is a Panda.
CANDY---She has been putting him in the hammock!---to get him to sleep!----That little IMP sleeps most of the time!!---He has a good teacher!---ho!
NORMA I still find it hard to believe that they are turning their cam off the Pandas. What a shame.
sunup at LW
Poor Luney is going for a drag and not a walk.
WOW! We've had a bout of snow flurries here at Largo office! I didn't see that on the weather??!!
Before I got out of my driveway at home, a big tree branch from 2 houses down fell into the road. Missed me!
That poor little fuzz ball. He looks like he is being led to the slaughter.
Glad you made it safely to work, LORETTA. Be careful on the drive home too.
Poor Little Luney! He's getting dragged all over the yard.
Oh, that was priceless... Lun, dragging Luney off the log:):)
Thx Candy. Now the sun is out--go figure!I parked away from a couple trees. Mostly open fields here---pwind really blows thru.Maybe the power will go out!!!LOL
Poor little thing. If he didn't have all that fur, he would really have skinned up knees by now.
Awwww-he fall down, go boom.
I think the camera operator for Luney needs some lessons or needs to wake up.
Drag, drag, drag, your panda, gently cross the floor.....
Maybe I'm just too critical. I was a TV camera operator years ago before Video tape and everything was live.
if you go to earthcam.com, you can take the world tour and see cities getting ready for new years' eve...
I guess that's all folks...for now.
I'm with you RED.. Especially on our last day of viewing.
Hey Nature - I think everyone has had those snow flurries this morning!
MITS Sounds like a plan, but I have to get ready to go oout shopping for a couple of things. Hope NORMA sees her divers. Talk to you all later.
CUB UPDATE........
Wednesday, December 31
Xi Lan has been trying to climb over the threshold between the dens for the past week or so.

Luney is buried in the bamboo!
Looks like he doesn't mind napping in the bamboo.
MOOSECAM UPDATE FOR DEC.31 ST......
7 am in Hawaii on the Earth Cam and the beach is full!!!
Thanks for all the fun, friendship and support. xoxo ♥ ♥
Time for a Panda nap. BBL
***GOOD MORNING***
***EVERYBODY***
HOPE YOU HAVE A
***HAPPY NEW YEAR***

14.55 lbs. for little Xi Lan at last weighing!!
It seems like he's growing awfully fast, but I guess it's partly owing to the fact they only weigh him a couple of times a week now.

New report on the tracking Nethy site...mostly a fill in on the local winter weather in Scotland though...

Bai and ZZ are sleeping "double decker" style today.
Special update for our thousands of devoted giant panda fans around the world! PandaCam will go dark at 5 p.m. on December 31, 2008. Wait! Don’t delete this page from your Favorites list yet. Zoo Atlanta is actively pursuing sponsorship opportunities that could potentially enable the return of our most beloved online feature. Hope with us and cross those pseudothumbs! Check this page often for special announcements.
And I found this also posted on the CHIL forum!
Tom Otto has posted video of moving the cam at LW;
