I'm up in CT and just looked at the cam. We have replaced the video card, thus the more reliable signal. I was worried about the flapping I saw, thought it was tape. I called the NCTC, and they told me they had seen it too and had headed out with a spotting scope. One of the eagles was on top the camera flapping in the wind to dry out. And a piece of tape is now loose. Keith is working to get the tree folks back up ASAP.
More later.
New thread.

That's really cool they saw one of our eagles!
thanks, Paula and Steve....
I can see the thick piece of tape now....that is what I thought was bark the other night...
Thank for the update Steve. Thanks Paula for the heads up. Maybe the tree climber could adjust the cam a bit too. It seems to be a bit caddywampus.
oopps waitng for cam to fall into the nest:)
I am so releived to get this info!!!!
Thanks to all who followed up to be sure of what was actually flapping.
I have had a hawk visit my tree right outside my window. Guess it explains why the birds are a little scarce last couple of days. Did manage to get a nice picture of it though before I went outside, it saw me and left. Now my litle birds are slowly coming back.
I see they were out looking at the cam when the eagle was on the branch...and ya'll saw it too. How cool.
Interesting... thanks for the info Steve. Couldn't figure out what that was on the cam this morning.
Hello all:) Have a great day! Back to work, rain has finally stopped here, everything is very soggy outside..
remember this one??-All I Want For Christmas
Good morning, again. I am done watching Survivor, pretty good show.
So far this will miss me. I hope it stays north! I am supposed to get the cold temps though, high of 4, low of -16 for Monday. YUCK
Blizzard Watches have been posted for much of northern KELOLAND in anticipation of a major winter storm on Sunday.
Snow will start Saturday night and continue into Sunday across parts of the area. The other major factor with this storm will be winds which will be gusting around 35-45 mph.
Because of the snow arriving on Sunday and the winds staying strong, bitterly cold temperatures are expected for Monday.
Scarface is back at Moose Cam, Pook has pictures posted.
yuck, Deb, not good weather...
Tree Service will be back up in the tree tomorrow morning round 10:30. Hopefully the eagles will be away somewhere.
Thanks for the heads up Paula. Thank you Steven for keeping a check on the nest. Glad Keith spotted the problem and put the call in for re-enforments to fix tape problem. Yes it would be good to see a little more of the launch area. So maybe they can move cam just a little.
Deb yes suvivor was GOOD.. ( :
At least I am supposed to miss the snow.
They know what angle to do, but they'll have to start from scratch and likely reset the whole cam on the tree.
Ok thank you Steven around 10:30 to fix the problem...alright then ( :
Thanks again Steve about the angle. YOU DEE MAN !!!
we're a bit concerned that the cam was being used as a perch, that could pull tape loose...
Your concerns Steve are very probably justified.
Take care hope all is well at CT.
eagle BWO
GLO, what is the story on the eagle photo on Glo's Glimpses? It is a most beautiful shot of an eagle getting lunch. Did you take the photo and where was it?
Thanks Steve for that update. I think some of us were worried that
Borris had come back to haunt us
Good Blustery Morning Everyone.
Good News: Sgt Patrick is home for the holidays on leave - arrived this morning. Happy Happy Happy
LOL, we know the juvies used it as a perch last year!
Hmmm, I kinda thought the cam was under the branch...I guess they are still perching on the branch with the tape on it....
Nu may have broken off that branch when he was up there.
Good morning all! Party over...feel like a free person. Well, not quite, going to babysit this evening. Laurel has a party. We have to leave at 2 so that we miss the Fort Worth traffic. Friday's traffic is always BAD!
The party was fun last night. Had 27 here, a full house! I had sit down places set for 24, the rest of us squeezed in at corners at the table. No problem!
Oh, wow, they are having to go back up into the tree. Interesting! Question....is that the barn we see on the left? Trying to get oriented.
Deb, how are you feeling today?
No Jo, he would have to saw it off with a chain saw....
My sound keeps going in and out. Anyone else experiencing that?
Ok Paula then I guess he was just snapping off some of the twigs.
My sound is of the Spitting Camel right now.
Lolly, that is the long building perpindicular to the barn...the barn is about the far upper left corner...you can't see it...the tree is in the way
I see some snow covering in PA woods.
Suzanne said yesterday she was taking off today due to the forecast - she has a pretty decent day in spite of it.
Could only spot 1 panda far away & 1 panda up close and then just the side of the fishing cat on the Asia Trail Slothbear cams seem to be down.
Puppies are at the vet for their shots.
Lolly not all of the updates have been installed yet.
ewwiieess cleaning up the BWO NEST.
Hmmm looking back at Wanda's pics...the cam is really installed on the side of the tree trunk...
Thank you Steve...we are most grateful for info and attempt to remedy the problem!! You all are great!
Yes Wanda I take all the photos on Glo's Glimpses. The one featured at the top of the page changes quite often. It is from the slideshow of Dec 10 Glo's Glimpses on Dec 10
The info on the side of the photo Blog tells you how to watch the slideshows in fullscreen and also how to get to Flickr and download for yourself in Large or even larger Original Size any of the photos you might want to have.
If you watch the above slideshow you will see that Eagles lunch .
And forgot to say it That photo as well as a majority of my photos was taken at the Rock Island Arsenal area.
Deb, that forecast sounds awful! Hope that you will be spared the brunt of the storm!
Headed for some lunch.
BBL
Hi to all. I am all caught up on mails, and sent a couple on momsters! Time for lunch, and then to buckle down and get Christmas cards done! BBL!
Eagles at WE - both
Paula you have mail.
Glad to know the mystery of the cam flapping! Good afternoon all.
Wonder if they will change the view of the cam just a little bit and put some anti-spider material on the cam???
Wow, so it really was Eagle wings I was seeing this morning...that's pretty neat.
Time for nap, work starts all over again at 6 pm.
Great News, Mema...
Good afternoon, all.
xo
Boy, it's a 'duesy' of a day..."maybe" Detroit won't go down the "convenience drain".
I hope you are having a good one though. The more positives the better.
I wanted to tell you there's a new report on Nethy's whereabouts with some local info on the Loch Garten's weather, and such.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
By the way, I was looking at our cam minutes ago, when the wind came up and you could see the tape fluttering clearly in front of the cam...silver duct tape, I believe. Did you see that?
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Xi Lan is getting very much stronger in his attempts to crawl. The underdeveloped rear legs are still "swimming," but they are at least 500% stronger and more extendable than just a couple of days ago.
He's doing it right now, and it looks as though he will be crawling before long.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Yup, there it is Jim
We also saw something last night in the lower left corner of the screen
Looks like the wind has died down a tad...hmmm just gusting instead of blowing continously maybe
Back at ya, Dana.
Apparently, if you read the new Panda blog at SD, they have renovated the ZZ and Bai's enclosure and returned them to it.
It appears to be big deal to them, and you should read the account of their reintroduction.
They put some stones on top of the table structure that Bai often naps on, and I think it is her, who has chosen to climb the tree and sleep in the lower branches today.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Well, I'd better take care of some business now...
I'll talk to you later. Have a good day.

Afternoon all. All of my regular cams have no action right now----well, those turkeys are still in the PA woods.
I have packages to wrap and mail, but can't get the bod in gear to move. I can't even use the cams as an excuse so I'd better get moving.
Well, well - I actually have some free time today, so I thought I' d check in with you guys. I haven't read the blog since right after the Open House. Been soooo busy. I hope that everyone is in good health and trying to be happy in spite of the depressing news nowadays. It's a cold, but gorgeous day up here on this mountain. All the trees are covered in ice, with little icicles hanging off the ice covered branches. Then when the sun shines on them and the wind blows them, the ice sparkles with different colors (a prism effect). It's kinda hard to tend to my work and not gaze out the window!
Hey - I changed my picture. Not sure that it can be seen very here. It is titled "Redneck Christmas lawn decoration". Tell me what you think.
It shows up pretty small here, so you can't see it very well. It's hard to tell what it is at first.
Carol - I can see it when I click on your name...looks like a hanging deer!
Nests looks pretty MT...I agree.
Will catch ya'll later tonight....
You got it Pauls - did you see the red lights on the ground?
Hi Carol nice to have a visit from you. I bet the ice hanging from the trees with the sun shining is beautiful.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU !
Eagle at Caltran doing nestorations
Yep Red I got it up too. Beautiful color isn't it?
Red what's for dinner or is tonight the eat out night?
I'm simmering chilli.
Eat out tonight. Cooks night off. lol
EAGLE ALERT OUR NEST OOOPS JUST FLEW OUT
Eagle is flying around can see him/her
Maybe he/she will be back soon.
Eagle in NEST looking up at that tape
2 in now
EAGLE ALERT, BOTH!!
WOW WHAT A LANDING
BOTH IN THE NEST
WHOO HOO
Eagle has landed
That's a pretty nice sight for all of us...a great start to the week-end.
☺
Looks as though they are in a hurry
Starting to dig the Egg Cup ?
They are distrubed by the tape. Though they are NOT letting it keep them from their home. Glad
guys will fix it tomorrow.
little beaking
I wish that when you Zoomed In
the pic would be better.....
They don't look bothered by the tape at all, if they were, they would really stay away from the nest, for sure.
Maybe the clouds will disappear, the full moon will shine brightly, and they will do some Moonshine work in the nest xi ☺
and maybe some monkeyshine too ♥ ♥
They can't hide up at noon position & I hope they do tilt the cam so we can see more of the 6:00 position..
I think they are eyeing the tape up for nesting material:)
On your mark, Get Set....
poof Lib
Lib took a dive out!
Would love to hear Belle call out to him
Go!
And Mother stays behind to finish things up ....
poof belle:)
Love the sound of Wings
Well, that was cool- I walked in just in time to watch them...
yeah it is a neat sound, Jo
Well, we had a loving and appreciative audience.....
You all watch for me, I will be working 6 pm tonight....maybe those clouds will open up and give them some light to work on the nest..
Take Care All, Happy Friday to everone, and it's not too late to wear some RED
xo
I was testing a new avatar but didn't like it so I deleted a couple of comments. It was supposed to be animated but animation did not work. I'll quit messing around and stay with the tree. lol
I don't think the tape is "Belle's type of home decor" lol
Looks as though our night light is already on..... That was a GREAT
Eagle Fix for me and I am so happy to see everyone else enjoying our beautiful couple!
Red - Your tree is great, I hope you keep it.
Megan, great for you, glad you got inside in time to see it..
I hear, Geese ?
TTFN xo
BWE UPDATE FROM LISA.....
Nest Update
12/12/08:
A while back, we saw that the parents brought in a mammal with a long tail.
Now we see there is a small skull in the nest, possibly from the same animal.
It may be too cloudy here for this-but...WEEKEND METEORS: Earth is entering a stream of debris from extinct comet 3200 Phaethon, and this is causing the annual Geminid meteor shower. The shower is expected to peak on Dec. 13th and 14th. Normally, as many as 100 meteors per hour shoot out of the constellation Gemini, but this year a bright Moon will interfere with the display, reducing hourly counts to only 20 or so. That's could still be a nice show. For best results, watch the sky from 10 pm local time on Saturday night (Dec 13th) until dawn on Sunday morning (Dec. 14th).
BIGGEST FULL MOON OF THE YEAR: The Moon that's causing trouble for the Geminid display happens to be biggest full Moon of 2008, as much as 14% wider and 30% brighter than lesser Moons we've seen earlier this year. An astronomer would say this is a "perigee Moon" because it occurs at perigee, the side of the Moon's elliptical orbit closest to Earth. Go outside tonight and take a look. The meteor rate may be low, but the lunar beauty index is off the charts.
BWO UPDATE.....
Nest Update
12/12/08:
Good photo of an immature bald eagle on the platform. Looks to be relatively young.
Sounds good Megan..
yes, Margy, when the geese fly low enough past the nest, you can see them...
Ta-da! Christmas cards are done. Guess I will have to trip out to the PO tomorrow....don't think the carrier would be too happy taking this big stack from the box!
Missed our beauties by a couple of minutes, huh? Par for MY course!! ☺
EAGLE at WEST END
Dana is fixing chili...good for a windy, chilly day. Just made it not too long ago...decided mac and cheese would be good for warm comfort, too! And might as well do pigs-in-blankets to go with it! Anyone want to come for dinner???
If I had not just put some hamburgers on the grill -- I would be right over
Mac and Cheese sounds wonderful. I love it but Mrs. Red is Gluten intolorant so we never have it.
Just got an osprey report and Drag (A15) must be a little bored as she ventured a little around the area. Not far, but more than she has since arriving in Mexico.
Wayne (00) is still exploring the tip of Florida, while 04 seems content to stay in Louisiana. I am curious what happened with the snow yesterday, but will have to wait for the next report to see if 04 moved. By the time I see the report it is a week old.
Watching Puppy Cam
I'm thinking that the tattoo on Mom's right ankle is an Eagle.
Not sure what Dad's is on his arm(s)
Probably a dragon
It great that you get those reports since you are anxious to see how they are doing.
About 5 moose on the cam now.
Eagle at West End.. Beautiful view
Seal Rocks is MT but what a great view
Dinner time here........
BBL
Well Jo, hamburgers will keep! And Red, fly on up and join me!
Brian Williams has our PUPPY CAM coverage on his show
Since it would take a few hours to get to Hedgies place I guess I'll let Mrs Red take me to dinner. Going to the local little cafe and think I'll have grilled shrimp. See Y'all later.
Eagle preening at West End
Evening everyone!!
See I just missed Chef Red! His black-eyed pea & sausage soup is simmering on the stove.Calls for 3 cans beef broth, but mine are concentrated & it doesn't say whether to add water. So I put 2 cans broth & 1 can water. Can always adjust.
See that you saw Brian Williams news tonight showing Shiba pups as the most watched video!People on that site have put it in their comments. However, he asked, "What does it say about America that so many people are watching puppies?"
Cuz we love animals and they brighten our day!!!!!
Gotta check soup.....
Loretta some of the blog comments on the site are so heartwarming.
One person was convalescing and it meant so much to her - others had very good reasons.
Guess Brian doesn't know about us bird and panda watchers... lol
Back to getting my cards ready for mailing.... Hedgie beat me finished!
what can anyone expect from an elitist like Brian Williams...he is so in love......with himself.
Puppy Cam announced that:
We've just heard that tomorrow's Today Show broadcast (Dec 13th) is supposed to feature a "farewell to the pups of the puppy cam" segment. Not sure what they'll be showing or talking about but I thought I'd pass it on in case any of you wanted to tune in.
I think it is Scarface on the moose cam this evening.
Deb had given us a heads-up on his return & Pook's photos.
This afternoon there were 5 moose grouped by the feeders.
There are not many cams to check out anymore after 6:00 in the evening..
Back to my cards......
Mits - You have all your snowmen
out around the house?
BBL
no snowmen yet, Jo, Hubby and I have had the stomach flu that is going around....it is ironic to me that evertime I get the flu shot, I get sick.
snowing in Pa....
Birdgirl emailed me a copy of the Momsters addresses, but I can't open it. If any of you have the list, would you please email it to me? I don't know what is wrong with me...I can't open anything from the Momsters email. I wanted to see what the one was about Michele Obama...that didn't work for me either.
Wanda, check your mail. If you don't have Excel you won't be able to open it. I sent it two ways.
Good evening, dear friends. Went to Concord University tonight for their Sounds of the Season. My baby was in the Symphonic Band, Collegiate Singers and ConChords. Good looking kid. Sissy took pics and we will get some sent out tomorrow maybe.
DEB, you are a gem...thank you so much. I get so frustrated when I can't open an email and don't know why. Back to my PC for DUMMIES book.
No surprise there, Sharon, that your son is good-looking and talented....he's WV raised by a Bluefield Mama:)
Glad it worked, Wanda!
Mits, sorry you and jubby have been sick. Keep in mind that the flu shot is for respiratory flu, not intestinal bugs!! Hope you feel better soon....need some chicken soup?? It's good for all ills!
Sissy, can't wait to see pics! Bet your heart is full and proud!
Wanda...Sissy sent out a word document list, too!
yes, Lynn, I know flu shot is only for the respiratory illnesses, last 2 years I got pneumonia, and hubby just got regular resiratory illness, just is odd that whenever I get the shot, I know within 1 to 2 weeks, I will be sick, with some sort of illness...next year not going to get it in December, that is for sure
glad you had a good time, Sharon.
Do you have to get the pneumonia shot, too, Helen?
Lynn, don't know anything about a word document...what is it for?
I keep forgetting to get the pneumonia shot. I also want to get the Shingles shot. My Mom had shingles and said it was quite painful and took a long time to get rid of it.
yes, got one last year in November, week before Christmas , got pneumonia....I'm just not good with shots or meds, my body likes to reject things...
Time for me to meet up with the Sandman. My tummy's full of crab legs and my heart is full of family fun.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
I just had another bout with shingles last week, have been getting them since I was 6 years old, this flareup wasn't to bad.
Good night Wanda.
They are a lot of fun to watch, Lynne. So rambunctious!
There is even a puppy cam song, it's okay.
Puppy cam song
Wanda...if you check back in the morning....just a regular word processing document--Sissy sent out addresses in an attachment early last week...
Goodnight to all. Mr. Bill is getting Christmas tree in out of the garage in the morning, so you know what I'll be working on!!
Sweet dreams for all.
Watched a tv movie with Hubby
Didn't finished my cards - almost there!
Tomorrow I will finished the house decorations - not doing that many - just the ones that the kids remember.
Mits - Hope you and Jubby get better soon. Stomach ailments are the pits.
That moon was very bright tonight...had the moonroof open on the way home tonight.
Put Mom in the hospital today...has UTI, still has upset stomach too...hopefully she will start to feel better....they ran some tests...she's getting some other things too, but she is all tucked in for tonight. Seems she needed a better level of care to get better. When I called the Dr and said she wanted to go, they had her there within 1 1/2 hours...
And sounds like we had a cool visit tonight...can't wait to see them flying around the tree!
Check live feed, still going strong. Nightlight doesn't look quite so bright, which is good.
Snowman cam is MT,,,lots of snow there and about 10°...brrr.
Oh, and RE Brian Williams comment. What's not to love about puppies! ♥
Awww one puppy in the bed.
Ha, make that two. The other one is sacked out! Just saw a back foot move.
Love the puppy cam song!
2 sacked out puppies now.
Hi Paula Happy you got your mom settled.
It was fantastic seeing Lib flying out around the nest and then just all of of sudden - PLOP! - he was in the nest. Then Belle came in and they stayed a while - looked as though they were quickly fluffing the fluff!
Think I can make out 3 puppies sleeping...
Time for me to shut down for the night!
Good Night
Peace to you & yours
Prayers for many being said
(((hugs))) ♥
Guess they were trying to dry it out...looking forward to seeing them over the weekend...
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING...
The first thing I saw when I turned the 'puter on was an eagle in our nest. She didn't stay very long...the tape was flapping and it is my humble opinion that it frightened her. So, if that be the case, I hope Nu can come this morning and take care of that little nuisance. Hopefully nudge the cam a little too.
I have posted a photo of the visit on Wild and Wonderful for those of you who need a fix:)
After looking at the photo again, Lib may be hiding behind Belle. See what you think.
Thanks for the pic Wanda. I just looked and I would agree. Two are in the nest.
By the way in leaving you page I just noticed you were born in "age 1968" or you are "1968 yrs old" lol
GOOD SATURDAY A.M. EVERYONE
Good morning everyone. Went to a Gaither concert last night. It was so awesome. My Favorite was Mark Lowery singing Mary Did you kNow. just gives you chills. Running low on sleep today however LOL.
Anyway now I am getting ready for work.
Anxious to see what the cam looks like after the fix.
Wanda Hope you saw your email from yesterday.
Dana I so apprediate the time you give to comment here and other places to let folks know something they say or do has made a difference for you. Many times a comment from you and a few other folks from here especially has made a difference for me.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone. Hope all is well today.
Speaking of well Sharon How are you feeling. Did you get your card from Dex and I. I surely hope so. Prayers continue for you and sissy. I see you are enjoying concerts in a wonderful way :). I think I know what that's about for sure.
morning, Sharon....you have mail:)
Morning Glo and Mits. I am feeling better every day. Some days are definitely better than others. I am going to try to start working again on Monday but only as tolerated. More will be revealed.
Morning, all.
Wanda - looks like you caught both in the nest. Thanks.
I almost forgot they were going up the tree this morning!
Paula, is your Mom in the same hospital as last time?
eagle BWO
people on snowmobiles on snowman cam
Yes, Mits, she wanted to go back to Suburban. Funny, while we were in the emergency room, heard a remark about another patient coming in from a nursing home...further away then Mom. They had requested Suburban also.
wow...some people like it some people don't, but I enjoyed all the years I volunteered there, as an outpatient surgical patient...not so good.... think they had a time clock to see how fast you could be released...
Good morning, everyone. It is going to be a beautiful day here today, the last for awhile. I need to restart computer for an update, want to be ready for tree climber!
Hey Deb,should be around 10:30 our time
Yea, they all shove you out the door as an outpatient now...
Deb today 39°, tomorrow 49°, Moday 60's...YAY!
I will try to record this tree climb also...still have the last one to process yet!
Oh, good, I am ready. It was just a quick update, you never know for sure how long they will be.
Paula, today is 45, tomorrow is 22, Monday is 5, Tuesday is 11! Boo!
gee, Deb, you are going down hill
looks like PA had more ice than snow...hope Steve is ok in CT, they had an ice storm yesterday
Yuck, Deb.
At least I am not part of the blizzard warnings or watches. It is supposed to hit later tonight, but further north and west of me.
Really nice of the tree service to come out so quick, and on a Saturday yet. That means some NCTC folks are working today as well.
Thanks, guys and gals!
Happy Sat., Everyone!!☺☺☺
Thank you for eagle fix, Wanda!!
Never got back on here last night. Red's soup was yummy! We have enough left for an army!
Paula, Hope your Mom improves now & Helen & jubby get well!Seems years we get flu shot, get some other strain too. I didn't get shot this year. We'll see.
If I can overcome AAHD, I need to focus & wrap out-of-town gifts & do cards.Lord knows about decorating house!I want to put up a pic of Lolly's spotless house!!! Plz send!! ☺ ☺ ☺
Loretta, just do as I do...clean a little than decorate a lot, it distracts people from the dust:)

Just heard a gunshot...
