I'm up in CT and just looked at the cam. We have replaced the video card, thus the more reliable signal. I was worried about the flapping I saw, thought it was tape. I called the NCTC, and they told me they had seen it too and had headed out with a spotting scope. One of the eagles was on top the camera flapping in the wind to dry out. And a piece of tape is now loose. Keith is working to get the tree folks back up ASAP.
More later.
New thread.

Morning, Ceil. How are you feeling?
And you too Mits. Any better today?
Doing better thanks for asking Paula. Hope your mom gets better soon.
hey Ceil trying to eat some toast and jelly now:)
Not much wind today, but it's hitting the mic just right!
Thanks, Ceil. Me too.
I have not seen the flapping piece this morning.
will let you know Paula...this is a great way to lose weight:)
Gotta go get the dogs in before they want in at the wrong time! Lots of wiping off of mud today!
I would rather keep the weight. HaHa
it has been there, Ceil, but not much, think the gunshots are making the eagles more antsy than a piece of tape, but that is JMHO:)
I hear men talking
We had a bullet go through a daycare window the other day. Almost hit a 3 year old. Teachers say they hear it all the time but have never had a problem until now. Hunters were in the right limits. When I first heard it almost died. It was in Howard County and that is all I heard until they mentioned the name. Maggie and Molly's school is in Howard County.
Nu is going into the tree
Thanks, John!
When you refresh at our cam you can hear men talking. Then the mic starts the camel spit and you can't hear them.
I hear a telephone!
Thank you John thank you Nu
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---I think we should all pray for the MOMSTER GROUP----SORRY!---so many of the crew aren't well!!---That's a real BUMMER---to be ailing during the holidays!!!-----PAULA hope your MOTHER is feeling better soon!!----GREAT NEWS JO!!---RYAN is home!!!---Wonderful---
thanks fot the update, John....yeah Ceil that was terrible news.
John ,are you our lead communicator today:)?
Looked like a rope toss
NORMA they are now going up the tree to get the piece of tape that was flopping in the wind. Maybe also they are going to reposition the view of the nest.
Rope shoot probably.
I bet Nu is just as happy as a clam to be going back up there again
I met him at the market Mits. Really nice guy!
wonder if Steven can communicate with them, that would be perfect, then he can have the cam where he wants it
well he has our momster pat on the back:)
Whoa, he must be there.
I will update when I can
WV'S BLACK POWDER season opens today----Maybe that the shots you all are hearing!!----HEY! saw BRIAN WILLIAMS on the PUPS!!---Those PUPS are getting up there with the PANDAS!---ho!
Never mind, I think it was the sun that made it look different.
Thanks, John.
okie-dokie, John, not neccesary, but if you can, thanks:)
Hear talking
Thank you John we'll be here
Sounds like Nu may be close to nest/cam not sure
LOL, no lack of feedback from us!
here he comes:)
Hello Nu !
One Step For Mankind
There he is!
Nu keeps blowing on his hands they are cold ... sorry Nu.
PAULA---Do you have a colored nest today??---Mine appears to be more clear today that it was yesterday--but no color!
LOL he stole a stick.
Yes, have color here.
Light color, but still color
There he is....MR. AMERICA---ho!
Need Bert Parks to sing----
Steve must be on the phone:)
Please let us know what you think of this camera angle
They are going to ask our opinion about something???
color yes, but compared to BWO and E's not as intense, that may come with the newer equipment
Need to rotate the camers some counterclockwise to NU.
John wants to know what do we think of this camera angel???????????????????????
looks the same:)
Can we get the nest any less tilted to the right...needs more tilt to the left.
My feed must be delayed
what do you think of this angle?
Hey, looking great I think!
was just going to say the same thing, Jo, Paula, please be "our" voice:)
That looks a tad better...can it be done anymore?
I think this looks good, can see the launching pad better and Lib's perch.
John go by what Paula is saying in here please
That shows a lot more of the nest than before. I was just comparing pictures of when he went in the nest.
John, Cam needs to be moved approximately 45 degrees counterclockwise to Nu.
Correct, Red...if possible.
Now we know why we borrowed a stick.
That is better than before, if that's all that's possible.
John, If Nu could think of his right arm as our 12 noon position on the nest cam -
can we see more of the 6:oo position down by his left arm.
he has his trusty duck tape by his side:)
Lord, he moved Belle's sticks around. You know Lib will get the blame for it. He is gonna have a rough row to hoe today.
the cam is taped to a limb, so we have to take in account the angle of the limb...what is the opinion of this present view
I think I like the current view John.
Better than before.
It is better than before. If the limb is in the way this is pretty good.
most of us know the limitations, John...it looks good to me...JMHO:)
John, If Nu could think of his right arm as our 12 noon position on the nest cam -
can we see more of the 6:oo position down by his left arm.
John the vies is not much different than before. the cam neesd to be rotated 45° counterclockwise from Nus position.
Clockwise to viewers.
what a view Nu has right now, would love to be up the tree.
I guess he can't move it further down the limb? Might be too close and hit by poop shoots.
Well you can't bend the limb for fear of losing the cam - so we need to accept this position although more
of the lower nest from where they launch their fly outs would have been desired
you are correct Paula, it can only go so far:)
as long as we see them when they are in there is what matters most...
I hear em giving him direction.
Better - maybe one more twist
Sound is great
can see more of the nest, now.
It must be cold up there.
Definitely would like more 6 o'clock view.
This is about as good as we can get it...please respond
Darn feed freezing here some.
But I love seeing Lib's perch.
Looks like thats a yes...more tape.
Mine too Paula, real choppy.
View has not changed at all. Still need to be rotated 45° counterclockwise for Nu.
Thanks, John, it looks fine here...:)
***gOOD MORNING***
***EVERYONE***
I forgot about the cam fix this morning, so it's kind of funny to see the lower part of a man in our eagle's nest.
Now I can see his whole backside. But now he's leaning 45° to the right.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
I reckon this is what we get, huh?
Tell Nu to QUIT MESSING WITH BELLE'S STICK & COME ON DOWN.........
Trying to arrange the sticks back, how funny. Belle will still know.
Amen to that, Jo:)
He is probably ready to tell us to kiss it!!
Glad they are only taping the cam...won't hurt the tree.
Gotta luv duct tape!
P O O F !
Bless that mans heart. He is working so very hard up there to make it as good as he can for all of us. And John too for communicating. He even put a stick back to help Lib out a little with the explanations later today LOL.
Yep I am at work but i am watching and reading.
Thanks Sissy, thought it was just me.
Too many viewers, lol
I guess the cam is just taped to a limb and not on a cam mount that can be rotated.
Alright, now, do I have to go down there with my Eagle Cane?!
Well if he can't angle it 45° to the right of viewers watching he can't. We such do like our "DUCT TAPE IN WEST VIRGINIA" lol
HANG TIGHT Nu!
Love ya and the work you do!
Thanks John!
Yup, Lib will have hell to pay...
finally poofed here.
I couldn't live without my DUCT TAPE or my computer:)
Thanks John and Nu....and whomever else is there....
Thanks Nu and John for the GREAT WORK YOU DID for the viewers.
I think it is better, can see the launching pad, can see Lib's perch. Looks pretty good. We are a picky bunch, aren't we? Can you imagine being the one trying to please all of us? I woulda jumped out of that tree!!!!
Its a done deal and looks good. Of course like most women it may not totally pass Belles inspection but she will adjust and nestorations will be back underway. And of course any problems are well you know who's fault.
Thanks NCTC looks awesome to me.
There's an eagle on the nest at PH on Santa Cruz.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Thanks so much John and Nu...and the tree service.....need a new plug here, John:)
Those guys must love us as much as we do them!!
I can't wait now till Lib and Belle come in. Belle is going to peck Liberty !!! lol
Thanks so much John and Nu, for including us in the process. It is just wonderful to be part of this blog, I ain't kiddin' ya'll, it really is.
Hi Wanda - I thought you were already down there gal! lol
They did well and love it that John included our comments for the resetting. Red - I think you're right about the cam mount.
Well come on Belle And Lib and
check this out.......
No turtle shells I guess
The mount that came with the cam is cheap, it would not be able to stand the elements. This is why we have to tape the cam to a limb. We used Gorrila tape this time...
JOHN OR NU do you see our eagles anywhere??????
ROFLMB0...SISSY:):)
Just comparing before and after pics...can see almost the whole nest now...
Thanks, Again!!
Well now we know for what we need to raise more money - a decent cam mount!
since this is Federal Government Property, we are lucky they let us have the cam to watch....who knows what the future will bring
Sounds good JOhn, never heard of it, but sounds good!
And thank you Valley Tree Service!
nothing but the best for our cam John...lol!
Is there any other blog attached to a cam that allows for so much input from the bloggers?
And thanks for including us, we do so appreciate all your hard work on bringing the eagle cam to us. The improvements thus far have been great!
MERRY CHRISTMAS NU AND JOHN, STEVE, NCTC AND TREE SERVICE !
John or Nu do you see our eagles anywhere ????
Thank you for asking our input.
Nest View looks GREAT thank you !
Looks good, John and Nu! Thanks for getting us more nest to watch! Thanks to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning!
yes, Sissy, I believe there are.
Couldn't go to the tree today...selling Santa Suits:(:)
Thanks Nu and John. I was yelling don't move those sticks.
John, when I see you, the drinks are on me....hot chocolate, of course:)
I like this view, more nest, less surroundings.
I just wish they could arrange it so that we could have music when our eagles aren't present! lol
EAGLE TALONS, ON THE HOUSE!
Folks...have a great day
I have purchased the Gorilla glue a during the summer. It is fabulous keeps things fixed in heat of summer or cold of winter. Hummmm this WV gal might be changing from "duct tape" to "Gorilla Tape".
BRAVO!!---BRAVO!!!---NU and JOHN!!
We LOVE YOU!!!---and all God's children loves you too!!!----
Thanks, again, John.
Gotta go, but would like to say...I LOVE THAT VIEW!!!
THANKS,GUYS!
Wanda, they may want a Poop Shooter instead....
Pretty cool!! NCTC ROCKS!!!
Wanda lol your funny...use the music sight that Lolly sent around so you'll have music while watching lol
Aren't we the luckiest of all bloggers anywhere on the web...?
We owe you guys even though you think you were just doing your job it was a very special treat for us regulars here to be a part of it all!
MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Well, ya know, we had that reggae music for a couple of days, it spoiled us!! We be jammin' mon!
OH KIDS!!---How soon we forget---I remember getting up at dawn just to see the EAGLES change turns on the nest!!---Only movement we saw in the am--but filled my soul with JOY!!---Anyone else remember those days? ho!

NATURENUT!---We watched the nest while NU was in it fixing the cam & I think JOHN on the phone!!----They had 50,000 voices telling them which way to move the cam!!---ho!!---(not really 50,000 voices)
Well, I sure missed out on all the excitement this morning! A BIG thanks to Steve, John, Nu, NCTC crew and Tree Service folks!! You all are great and we appreciate everything you do for us!! Our watching will be so much better this season!! And, of course, thanks to all of you momsters/dadsters giving input on positioning!
Paula, congrats on winning the tickets!! How cool is that...lucky son! Hope he doesn't peek in on the blog! GO SKINS!
Sorry your mom is back in the hospital...but does sound like that is where she needs to be at least for a dew days.
Gorgeous day for any outside decor to be done. Lynn I hope your tree is up now and trimmed! Great you had some help join in the fun.
Going to get ready for Mass
I'll be back before I leave...
Nest really does look great!
Yes, Jo, it does!
Tree is a work in progress....I 've got it put together, but prefer to put the lights on at night so I can tell if I'm getting it right better! Mr. Bill only helped get it out of garage rafters into house...LOL...you know men!!
♥ Good Afternoon Eagle ♀ and ♂ Eagle Buds... Perfect West Virginia December day. So much gratitude to the NCTC Staff and Tree Service....Nest looks wonderful !!
Just hopping on to say Hope everyone is well or getting better.
And I am hopping back off....trying to get this place cleaned up a little for a Birthday Party Sunday....then off to work at 6 pm ...hope to catch up on comments...one of these days...
Peace, Love and Prayers xo ♥
It is snowing on the moose cam, puppies are out for a walk.
McKinley/Denali is beautiful today. One eagle at BWO.
Wow, that was close to the nest, no wonder our eagles are not visiting right now.
Bad weather in North Dakota:
Teddy Roosevelt Park, ND
don't they have shooting there on Saturdays during December....sounds like that guy could not hit the side of a barn....
you come up with the neatest web cams, Deb.
The first ones I heard were really close, but the second set seemed further away. Of course, it could be I was ready for the next shots.
I think Mema Jo mentioned a couple of weeks ago, that this might be a blackpowder hunt there today...would be very loud shots if so...
I really like the National Park webcams, you can visit the country!
NPS cams
In years past it has been shotgun with slugs and not pellet shots...
either one would be kind of loud...
all gunshots are loud for that matter....
Also doe hunting might still be in in Jefferson County...that would account for some gunshots off the property like we heard during buck season..
xo
They just lengthened the spring goose hunt by about a month, 20 birds per day, no limit on your freezer. Trouble is not that many people eat goose and where would you keep that many anyway, so the geese just keep multiplying. This is for snow geese.
nest sunset 4:48p.m.
my Mom used to roast a fantastic goose...yum..
I have only had it once that I remember.
Eagle at BWO
N think the Nearly Full Cold Moon (98% full) is still going to knock our socks off tonight...
Also Bright Venus and half as bright Jupiter in the South Sky should dazzle and please...
Take care all, time for work soon. Where is that fairy?
TTFN xo ♥ ☺
My sister in CA called last night and told me to look how big and bright the moon was. It just looked normal to me. She said the news reports were that it was a very large moon, so we decided it must just be for her part of the country.
its everywhere, Deb, but our meteorologist said with your eyes it would still look the same when it got high in the sky, most obvious on its rising and setting...wish I had been at the beach
infra-red light starting to show
That explains it, it was high in the sky for me. I won't see the moon again for awhile, clouds rolled in this afternoon.
Floralgirl had a post just around sunset Friday, regarding this being the "biggest Moon of the year..." has something to do with perigree and closeness to the earth....It was a Biggie, but I couldn't see it until the clouds cleared later in the night.
Tonight? All clear...
xo
Megan is our flower, sky, and music person ! ♫ ♪ ☺
There go the geese.
The first swan was back today in Yankton. I hope it is nice enough tomorrow to run over and see it.
we probably have a better chance of seeing them tomorrow with no gunshots around....back to decorating, at this rate, should have it done by Easter:)
Margy, if you have time....you have mail!!!
I love roast goose. Mary Marg and I tried to cook one and almost burned my house down. They are very greasy when cooking. You have to prick them. Don't think we pricked enough.
Mom, knew how to do it, it takes hours of rendering to get the nasty fat out, her skin was crispy and meat moist...
Margy hope you have a easy night.
Deb love the cams at the Parks.
SPLIT is coming soon..
Ceil, you have mail!
When do you leave on your trip? The 20th? Did I understand that you are taking Amtrak? Should be fun!
I remember my mom doing duck and goose both ONCE (not the same year!)...they did not make much of an impression, I guess, cause she never did it again! I've tried standing rib roast, which was tasty and different for Christmas....but it took forever to cook! We didn't eat until about 8pm!
Did leg of lamb for Easter once, but no one except for me cared for it! I think it was a mental thing for the kids! Always made mint jelly from my wild mint garden...it doesn't go w/ much except lamb, and sometimes pork!
Well....can't find my tree skirt...can't believe I missed it before I put all the boxes back under the eaves....so here I go...back to look for it! Argh...if I had a brain I 'd be dangerous!
Lynn, Mom never made it for Christmas, usually just a Sunday dinner, it was way to involved for Christmas day...she used to do the turkey dinner, but to many relatives were late for dinner, so she switched to ham...she worked her butt off to make Christmas special
