Good morning everyone. Nice crisp fall day in north Alabama. I started a blog yesterday with a couple of photos. One of my childhood home and one of a cotton field. Others to be added later.

MITS said...

yes saw them, Red, very nice photos

magpie said...

Howdy Red ! - Those two new photographs are wonderful, what a great childhood home !

Hey, my "Magpie" was a gift from Paula...the first one was from Deb, it is in reserve for when I am in a more quiet mood !

xo Have a Good Day ! Nice to "see" you...

The eagle at BWO looks like it's going to do something dramatic, but I can't figure out what.

Hello again all; Mits, red, Jim and Magpie. I just finished ironing my witch dress and have a wash in and one in the dryer.

RED Beautiful pics on your site. What a beautiful home you had growing up. Miss the cotton fields. Had them when I first moved to No. Carolina, but then they disappeared for grapes and soy beans and corn in my area. They probably still have them further into the state.

magpie said...

See that, Jim...he (or she) has been "standing guard" and being the sentinel for quite awhile now...

Wonder what it is trying to fend off...

carolinabeachmom said...

I'm surprised that the hummer ever comes out of the nest with those Halloween figures watching over it. :)

magpie said...

Hello again Candy! I went on a trip to Suffolk Co Va (not far from Virginia Beach) about ten years ago and the cotton fields were just beautiful! It's like an old-timey thing...

magpie said...

Not TWO Eagles on alert at BWO -

Haven't seen a thing at PIX while I have been watching...must have missed some morning activity though! Rain overnight was fun to watch..kinda ghostly.

MITS - I use ATM card a lot....and call the automatic line to keep things up to date, but have not done that for three weeks! Better make sure I am not in the "Overdraft zone.."

magpie said...

NatureNut said...

Yucky down here on the River & 2 kayak ladies out.Was nice when they left & one is very experienced. Guess they're just getting wet---wind has eased somewhat.

carolinabeachmom said...

We keep having the sun peek out now and again here now, but it is light rain at the Boston College/Tar Heel game in Chapel Hill. Just took one wash out of the dryer and put another in.

I see we have both eagles back at BWO

MITS said...

just think this time last week it was beautiful

carolinabeachmom said...

MITS and Magpie.......Ugh to keeping up with the checking accounts. I have paid the b ills for years and kept very close track until about two years ago. Then I just said to heck with it. I've been lucky so far as to not overdraw. I hate doing the figures.

carolinabeachmom said...

This time last week, you were all together having a grand time. How fast the time goes. You'll have to use that fun time to tide you over the winter months until everyone meets at the nest again in June or whenever.

carolinabeachmom said...

I had Josh and d-i-l for dinner on Thursday night. They came to pick up some more of his stuff to take to Greenville. She still has

One eagle caput and off at BWO

carolinabeachmom said...

Could a late lunch be coming? And back again

magpie said...

I think the second linebacker has come back to defend the home team...

Yes, Candy and MITS
I do a lot of that "this time last week" and "this time two months from now (Christmas !)...is always fun to reminisce of the warm times, and anticipate the ones to come !

magpie said...

Oh, HI LORETTA !

movin said...

It looks like BW is experiencing some high winds and will be having T-Storms and rain later.

Probably why the eagles are 'hunkering down' on the O. nest.

Nest Update

10/25/08:
We've recently seen several different immature bald eagles on the platform.

Here is a photo of a recent immature with an almost white head. This mix of brown and white on the head can make it look like an osprey from a distance.

Mema Jo said...

Megan, looks like we are both searching youtube for Rain songs.
Thanks for yours.......

They are calling for beautiful day tomorrow......

Mema Jo said...

Helen, I had looked at the juvie and I guess before they become beautiful bald headed eagles they have to go through that awkward stage. I can see why they don't mate until later around age 5..

magpie said...

HI MEMA JO !! BEEN WAITING ON YOU !

Love all the Beatles and Rain Songs...going to have to find me a CD !

I'm still battling the checkbook, not sure who is going to win!

Mema Jo said...

My checkbook is laying on the table right beside me. Church envelopes are there also! He comes First!

Okay, done! Bank wins by $70, good thing I took the boring time to do this! Now, on to the Church envelopes!

I think I am finally going to make Saturday Mass, Mema and MITS, folks will think I am a New Parishioner !!

xoxo

magpie said...

The BWO Eagles have not looked the least bit friendly today...
And that Juvie picture is a GEM !

Now, to put away all the papers and find some church clothes !

Good rainy afternoon, gang!
Well.....where to begin...hey Red, great pics. SNOW on your childhood home...beautiful! And this southern gal loves the cotton fields (you all know that DC was a southern city before the war, right??).
Such great songs...how do you all do that?? Just search youtube and then post the link? Cool!
Ah-ha...a little ray of sun at the moment!
My Tivo died this am...argh!!! Lost some movies and a couple of shows that I had taped. Directv can't come replace it until Tues. Bummer.
Sorry you gals are so behind on your checkbook reconciliations! That is one thing that I'm good at because I never let it get behind!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good afternoon everyone. I am home, didn't go to the beach as planned, came home to my babies instead! There's no place like home! Cool and rainy here in Bluefield today.

MITS said...

awww you missed the trip, Sharon....bummer

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie - I keep up-to-date about paying bills - But I don't like

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I see our little Luney is getting so big!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It's alright Mits. Missed it by choice. Too much going on, really grateful I got my S-town trip in and next weekend I am going to Cedar Lakes in Ripley. Those are the 2 most important trips of the month.

MITS said...

then "it is all good", Sharon

Mema Jo said...

Mema Jo said...

I am going to hit the showers
Mass time is approaching.. Hope the rain stops for an hour or so.....
I just can't run in between the drops

NatureNut said...

Stopped raining here, but very gloomy---wind not too bad. Kayakers made it back OK. Rain doesn't bother them!
Was 1 eagle at BW. Guess that is the spot to check---see our cam is still stuck.

Guess I'll make the day--was sick 2 days, but dragged myself in today.Guess I'm OK--light lunch & just downed a Rice Krispie Treat--Yum, Yum!!!!

NatureNut said...

Guess we got lucky last weekend to have such great weather!!
Can't wait for some of the leaves to fall around here so I can check our Park nest. Don't know if they'll come back again. I might hike down a trail to my secret spot & see if any birds there when I leave ;>

hedgie said...

Sharon, glad you are home safe and sound. How did everything go in Charlottesville? Are you still being a good girl?!?! I know you are...so proud of you!
Jo, know what you mean about running to dodge the raindrops...no can do, either!

hedgie said...

Hey, Mits, are you going to be at the zoo for the Boo Friday night? Just heard that Jack Hanna is going to be there!!

MITS said...

no, Lynn, did not sign up to work....it is really a zoo,:):), at that event

hedgie said...

Yes, Loretta, feel better!! Hope your work day is almost over. Snuggle up w/ a cup o' tea when you get home!

hedgie said...

I guess it would be, Helen. Is it like a trick-or-treat/spooky thing open to the public, or is it for FONS?

MITS said...

BOO AT THE ZOO

TOMORROW NIGHT IS THE LAST NIGHT

MITS said...

I don't know if it is open to public ot just a FONZ thing.

MITS said...

I think I might likE to work during the Christmas light thing....sure they don't advertise it as Christmas lights..probably some kinda of generic festival of lights

MITS said...

where did you see about Jack Hanna being there??

hedgie said...

TV ad must have been "old" because it said Hanna on Friday night at Boo at the Zoo, and I thought it meant Halloween night! Hmmm...
From that link, looks like it's open to the public..tickets are higher for non-FONZ members.
Christmas thing probably would be neat!

MITS said...

The cub gained a huge amount of weight from Thursday to Friday. His weight Friday afternoon was 2,431 grams, which was an increase of 94 grams in a 24-hour period; this is one of his biggest weight gains yet! We even weighed him twice to make sure the scale was reading correctly. One contributing factor to such a significant gain in such a short time is that the cub had finished nursing just 5 minutes before he was weighed. Most of us would not want to step on a scale immediately after a big meal, but I doubt the cub minded much - pandas are supposed to be a bit pudgy. He has now surpassed 5 pounds!

hedgie said...

Have to wonder now where Channel 7.3 (digital station) is broadcasting from!! Obviously not DC!! Well, don't think we can make it to Arkansas!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And the Charlottesville visit went fine. Had to do the preop stuff and see both surgeons. Now, I find out the day before what time surgery will be. It will be here and done before we know it!

hedgie said...

Gonna see if I can possibly get the last episode of The Unit online to watch. BBL!

hedgie said...

Got it!! Just can't fast-forward to where I left off when I started to watch it on TiVo. It is what it is....at least I'll get to see "the rest of the story"!!!!

hedgie said...

Good girl, Sharon!!! Nov. what? for the surgery? How long will you be in the hospital?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

November 12 is the surgery date. They said I will be there for 2-3 days, so probably will come home on Friday or Saturday.

hedgie said...

Will mark my calendar, Sharon! We will all be with you in spirit!
