Good morning all! Crazy day today. In and out today. Great pics Deb.
Ya'll let me know if anything exciting happens.
right now Sissy, it is like watching grass grow:(
The Gobblers have arrived for breakfast. Saw one Sea Eagle on the nest right after the sunrise "there" - Watched part of an awesome show "The Big Cats" or something like that on PBS very late last night, sure it has been on before. There was very good segment on Serval Cats - boy can they leap! Then was a segment on a Caricow Cat - which I have no idea how to spell but that is what it "sounded" like - and they could leap even higher, both as they were obtaining feathered food for their kittens! GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Perfect October Day hereabouts.xox
Glad it is not as windy here as in Maine !
Bird Girl was on late last night...I trust you all saw that...Her Profile site is great! And be sure to check beautiful Elia on Glo's page!xo
ewwiiees just showed up at BWO
nice close-up of otter girls sleeping on a rock:)
Good Morning all. Cloudy and cold and windy here today hmmm. I think we will be losing some of our nice color now for the nest few days. :(Hope your day holds beauty around every turn. Hi Magpie Thanks so much for the visit to Elia's Blog. She is a charmer for sure. Bird Girl does so much with Fallen feathers. She lives a little more than an hour from my daughter. Hopefully next trip to Tucson she and I can meet up.
My brother reports to me that years ago, at the VA Center, (Martinsburg) where our family lived from 1946 untl 1967, which was "Newton D Baker" Veterans Hospital back then, he remembers large white owls coming in during the winter and roosting on the roof tops. I have no recall of this; he is trying to determine if he thinks they were Snowy Owls, or Barn Owls...He was born in 1939 so I guess this would have been in the late 40's or early 50's.I missed the ewwiiees at BWO - and I don't think the construction crew is working in Maine today!
GLO I know that I can spend literally HOURS on your site!So many wonderful things, and I have just merely touched the surface of it.xo Good Day to you, and all ! xoOff to get some cards in the mail..
I hope some of you who enjoy so much about nature and Critters of all sorts will take a look at Glo's Glimpses. I also will put all of my Eagle pictures from my area on this Blog as well. I needed a photo diary to share some of what I see with those who might be interested. In the slideshow at the bottom of todays link you will see info on the Graylag Goose. Makes sense once you see that I happened on a Canada Geese Convention at the Marina last week. Also you get to see a couple of Photos of my Buddy Dex. Take a look and subscribe to the Feed if you want to know when that Blog is updated. Oct 16 at Glo's Glimpses

Sea Eagle at Finney !
SEA EAGLE AT FINLAND
Great Hoody Fly-Out picture MITS -
Good morning, everyone. Can you believe they are throwing the s*** word around here today? Luckily for me it will just be a possible rain/snow mix--I am not in the 2" prediction area. It is so dark and wet out, I have to have the lights on.
BE SURE TO TAKE PICTURES DEB, SO WE KNOW WHAT WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO !!
lol....it was actually a fly-in pic, Margy
shhhhhh!!!!! we don't like that word, Deb:(
Adult at PH!!
Good MorningWOW Deb - are you saying no more grass to mow? I forgot how often you get the shovel out! I am not ready for this.I sure do see those otter gals cuddled together sleeping. Happy Birthday FrankEnjoy your dinner
I don't want enough to take pictures of :) --and I definitely don't want a winter like last year. If the weather man is wrong and we get more than a few flurries, I will take a picture. It is supposed to be in 60's on Saturday, so whatever happens will be gone soon!
Watching the otters - what a bigyawn...
something has the sea eagles attention, hope the other one flys in
Thanks for the Pelican Harbor alert...was commenting yesterday that it has been awhile, you have the Magic Touch ! That Sea Eagle looks HUGE! I really am getting things ready for the mailbox, just a few interruptions! HI MEMA JO ! GOOD TO "SEE" YOU..AND EVERYONE ELSE OF COURSE..
Thanks again Deb for the pics over this past weekend. Wonderful memories
There must be at least 8 turkeys in the woods. Some of them must be 30 pounders!
GET THE BASTER;)
Margie & all - SSG Ryan is packing up! IM'd his mom at 3am his time the other evening... He said he was so excited about coming home. There will not be another group to replace them.. so they need to pack up everything.
MITS - I bet they are tough old birds
That sea eagle is gorgeous
WHAT WONDERFUL NEWS, JO:):):)
Finney eagle - looks windy there
Darn, the eagle at PH flew away.
JO - will our cards get there in time? Mine went out yesterday...Just great to hear of a homecoming!xoxoxo
There is a Choice Group from Ryan's group coming home - it is the married men with families - They will be home by Thanksgiving! When troops deploy the Choice Group shipping out are the single soldiers leaving the family men the last to leave.
First of NOV is the deadline to send him mail. So yes your mail will reach him...
...won't matter, more important Sgt Ryan will be on the way home !
That is wonderful news, Jo. It will be so nice to have Ryan home.
Good morning, Eagle Lovers. I am now just getting back to work (and my computer) after several days with my Mom in the DC area. It was so good to see old and new friends on saturday. I have scanned the blog entries since the Open House and dinner and it appears that everyone, myself included, had a great time. I'm glad that the train riders got to see some eagles and that some of our group got to see our 2 favorite eagles. Unfortunately, I have to get to work - we have an auditor here today and I need to do things for him.
Hi Carol, Bye Carol.
nice long visit by sea eagle,,,sun going down
TV at BWO.
hoodie and sea eagle together
DEB what is at BWO ?
hoodie left when SE came close
SE is gone now
looks like an ewwie, Jo
I see it there at BWO now.I am going to go and close my eyes for a while. Computer strains thema bit.
Wednesday, October 22During the cub check yesterday, Dr. Sam Rivera, Zoo Atlanta’s Veterinarian, collected body measurements of the cub. He is now 41 cm from nose to tail base. His tail is 7.2 cm in length. His neck girth is 23 cm, chest girth is 34.4 cm, and his belly girth is a whopping 38.5 cm. His little nose is now 3.4 cm wide. All these measurements add up to 2,210 grams of healthy cub!Kate RocaCarnivore Keeper II
chunky little bugger:)
TV = Turkey vulture! I was doing stuff and missed your question, Jo.
**GOOD MORN TO YA****FRIENDS IN THE EAGLE**C(°?°)3Jim
Hey, Mits or Ceil - what were those Polish thingys you brought for dessert?

Prayers for Peace and Wellness, Comfort and Safety, and Safe Travels. And a Big Happy Birthday to Frank ! It's a Great October Day to have a Birthday ! xo
they were polish Krusciki ( polish bowties)
doves, squirrels and bluejays at Pix
Lots of adult eewwiieess circling around when I came here to work at farmhouse office. Earlier this year saw about 30 or more on ground around breakfast. So ugly, I think I deleted that picture. Some use an abandoned little creepy farm house on site for a nursery.I was walking up dirt road to it once & heard glider like noise. Was a TV flying over my head & then made Uturn & landed in upstairs window of old house. That's where it's nest was! There are big vines, etc. around that house. Saw a juvie TV jump up from the ground onto a vine & was swinging away!Have to put that house pic on for Halloween.Back to work....or lunch
Boy! every time I start to do anything on here this morning the cable goes down!I went over to AOL to 'talk' to Suzanne ... even before 8:30 ... but I never hooked up with her because of the line going down.Just got started opening stuff again, and it went down for the second time!Well, as they advised on the phone I shut the modem and the puter down, waited a couple of minutes and started over... So far, so good.C(°ٿ°)DJim
TURKEY VULTURES.....although they are not the most attractive of the bird species, they really DO important work:)
lol....that one female otter is stretched out on her back with here paws in the air....hope you are seeing this Jo
otters are on the move:)
Very interesting TV article. Thanks, they are definitely thriving here, and from what I saw in your area, too.
Thanks, Mits, I knew they were the bowties...but neither Mom or I could remember the Polish name
Very interesting info on the eewwiies, Mits - Thank you!
I had no idea how useful they are:>
Halloween storyTwo brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married. One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom. The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely. After the wedding, at the edding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, "I think I am going to have a ittle whisk broom!" "IMPOSSIBLE !" said the groom broom. Are you ready for this? Brace yourself; this is going to hurt.. "WE HAVEN'T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!" ............ ............ ..............Oh for goodness sake... Laugh, or at least groan.Life's too short not to enjoy... Even these silly....little cute jokes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds to me like she's ....... !......been ....sweeping around!!!
I didn't either. Amazing that they prevent diseases.
Well now ownder Ben Franklin thought the Turkey Vulture should be our National Bird. Thanks for the info Mits
tee-hee, good one GLO:)
but glad he got voted against it in favor of the eagle:)
he was better at flying kites, anyhow:)
Good for a chuckle, Glo! Nice on such a gloomy day.
Good story, Helen.I knew they were important for "clean up", but didn't know they could kill bacteria, too. Maybe med. community should look into chemical they use!Glo, sweeping up?? CuteDeb, hope you don't get snow!!! Too early! Our county transportaion vehicles put on their snow plows in Oct!!! Just in case.
Cute one, Glo.I didn't know the eewwiies could kill bacteria, either.
Keep Atlanta up on screen, so can see him as I pass thru room----SO CUTE!!!Wish I could have one! Love those little stumpy back legs bowed around him!
ewwiiees are the good guys:)
Still cam is at yesterday AM. They've got a couple hours to fix it..PLZ!!!!!Didn't walk up to nest Sat., but that was our chance to "kick" some stuff and get it working!Just Kidding!!!I didn't realize you were allowed to ride around the NCTC property. Was itching to see the river & maybe some eagles there. Was hoping they might do a van tour.Oh well, next time.
The little hummer can't decide where she wants to nest. Cam is set where she was working on a new nest, and now she started repairing the old. Here is the message on hummer page:Oct 22, 2008: Sorry about the location. I set it up where she was building in the top of the bush, then she decided to repair her old nest below. I'll move the camera when I'm sure she'll stay there. She's in and out all day, esp. in morning. Afternoon sun will probably wash out picture.
poor little thing just can't make up her mind:)
Good Evening all. Hope it is a great one for you. Happy Birthday again to Frank, Loretta, hope you folks have a great Birthday dinner & evening. MITS: The article about the turkey vultures was absolutely fascinating ! and now we have another site to go to for lots of information..I see Maine nest still being buffeted by the winds. Glad it did not go the way of Barton Cove tree....xo
Eagle at BWO
and a very pretty one too.
Gonna rush home--gotta cook something & glaze cake for the B'day Boy!! He doesn't want to go OUT today, (RATS)!!...maybe tomorrow!Thx for him for all the greetings ;>))BBL
Maine eagles just flew in!!!
And there they went!
buck at saltlick
missed them....don't know how they fly in this wind
I don't either, it is bad there today.
I just checked their weather and the winds are only 10 to 20 mph, coming out of the north
Update on Buddy from last week, if this is a repeat sorry, but first I have noticed it: Buddy update
That's isn't bad at all. Sure looks worse than that.
slow, but, sure for Buddy. Not sure he will ever be released?
Good evening all. DEB I am so sorry to hear that you have rain/snow predicted for your area. That is the pits. I am soooo glad that we moved out of NY State. I hate the winters with the driving and shoveling. If I could just stay inside by a roaring fireplace and enjoy it, that would be different.
Buddy's update seems to be good news, but I am with you Mits. He probably will never get released into the wild.
Just looked in on Atlanta's baby panda and he seems to be taking his panda nap. I just love watching the little fuzz ball.
and that is ok with me, Candy.....Buddy would make a good educational eagle
Hi gang! Another busy chat day! And so many neat pics to look at, thanks to Deb and Glo! All GREAT, girls! Deb, do you have any "people pics" from the train ride?Good to see Candy back onboard, as well as birdgirl. Happy Birthday, Frank!Buddy is looking good, but it does seem rather doubtful that he'll ever be free to soar.SStill need to read the info on the RV...sounds interesting!Sharon, you are #1!!! Keep up the good work...you are over the hump for sure, girlfriend!Jim, AOL can sure be a bugger, can't it???
Sister is calling BB
Evening all!! Our little Luney sure does want to be mobile don't he?
Helen, Buddy would be a good one. Just hope he would get paired w/ a better handler than our gal was!
Been reading the blog, catching up. It was my day at Mrs. Riffe's, so that is always hectic for us. She is really doing so well. Other than having to use that walker, she is back to her old self. Mind is sharp as a tack. The power of prayer is a wonderful thing. Thank you all so much.
Boy Lynn, that is for sure. She really didn't have the experience to be showing that poor eagle. That was really a terrible sight!!
I'm sure she was doing her best, but I think that the eagle felt her nervousness, and she didn't appear to be strong enough, not too mention that she needed to short leash the bird. She did seem to be able to calm him well, tho'. It was like watching someone cradle a fussy baby.
Is that Tai laying on his back?
oops...make that not TO mention...! One too many o's...fingers are too fast for my brain.
yeah, it was hard to watch.
Can't tell them apart, Sissy!! You all are much better it than I am.
That is Tian, Lynn
ops, Sorry, Sissy.....I can only tell because I know what number the cam is on and that is his den
Oh, okay, couldn't tell how big he was. They are so very beautiful.
Well, since I spent the weekend having fun, Sun. and Mon. recuperating, and part of two days at the hospital wasting time, and went to grocery store today, guess I'd better go get some chores done. Too late to vacuum, but a load of laundry, clean the bathroom, and finish putting stuff away is definitely do-able now. Later, friends!
I still have to unpack, isn't that terrible?
lol...my suitcase is still in the hallway, but it is MT, and clothes are being washed now.
buck and raccoon at PA
ok, now cam is on saltlick
Lynn, no people pics from the train ride. I didn't bring my camera bag and only had the telephoto lens along. My suitcase is empty and put away, but the laundry isn't done!
Hedgie - I don't think you can really blame our girl. The poor eagle had never been out before....I think she did very well with him, all things considered.
I have the people pics from the train ride...will try to get them done later...
Buck at PA.
TTFN Eagle Buds!! Gonna catch some TV before bedtime. Check back with you good people later.Paula, I think she really tried but with him, I think they should have sent a more experienced handler. He was just to skiddish and I don't think she had the experience to deal with him properly. Nothing personal towards her at all. She was very nice.
raccoon party time...at PA
Ditto, Sissy. She was a very pretty girl, too! Will look forward to more of your pics, Paula.
OK watching the opening moments of the World Series....that had to be the most horrible rendition of our National Anthem, sung Acapella by the Back Street Boys, since Roseanne Barr desecrated the Anthem......JMHO
Party is still going on in PA - Lots more have arrived... At one point I counted 10 big fat raccoons... WOW
how is it going, Jo?
I'm still taking it slow - No Pain or discomfort whatsoever. Maybe the weekend is just now catching up with me. I really just feel like doing nothing much. I need to get energized
yeah, me too....
Going to watch the panda video you sent me.
its a slide show, Jo
off to watch Criminal Minds
68 slides all of pandas from everywhere. Quite enjoyable...
I have a different screen than usual, I am typing at the bottom of the page instead of on the side.
going out and coming back in didn't help. No avatars or anything on this page.
Well Deb How did you do that..You mean on this blog - right?
Yes on this blog. It is really weird. I am going to try Firefox and see if I get a different screen than on Safari.
OH MAN! Me Too!I wish they would tell us ahead of time whenthey were making changes. I am going to POST and I'm wondering if I will see the next post you do withOUT refreshing. That would be great. Here I go
Has there been some kind of change on our blog that I don't know about? I can't get on the regular page...I think I am in the twilight zone.
Same screen there, it is taking forever to post. I wonder if it will ever come up.
I am on Firefox, Deb.
I wonder if it is a Blogger problem. Maybe something is going goofy there.
I still have the old format right here Hope it posts.
We, DEB & JO, are with you Wanda!Have no fear - I have both formats up. I have a feeling this old format isn't going to come up again if I close it..........
We don't have any avatars on here.I bet this is the new formI still have a trash can - do you?
On the new format I can hit the refresh keyand it updates comments.
DEB & WANDA ARE YOU STILL ON HERE WITH ME?
Well, I still have BOTH formats of the blog up! I think that this one (old regular one) is going to be put down and we will be using the new format
SOMEBODY COME JOIN ME
I am still here, Jo.
Thank You for Being there Wanda.
Wanda - do you have both formats up?
No, I don't, Jo...I can't bring it up.
I just have this new thingy...don't like it very well.
SO I guess we have what we have You know....It is what it is........ lol It's ok but I really wish that when someonemade a comment you could just see it & not haveto refresh to see it
Yep, it is what it is
OK If you sign out of the older format - You lose it forever......... I just lost it and now I am on the new format - It's a CHANGE It'll work ok...Just miss the avatars..We had fun with them. Deb & Wanda I think we are the guinea pigs!
WANDA I can still click on your name andfind your blog! WHOO HOO We didn't lose those good pics.
I guess we will get used to it and may find some good features about it.
I will really miss the avatars.
I am sending an email to Steve and ask if thisis for keeps.
Oh my surprises on the blog. Two different surprises in the same week. Guess it keeps us flexible but I will really miss the avatars

Apologies for my neglect on this site. I'm thinking that it might be time to conclude this blog, as I started it before the social me...
