Norma I made a slide show of the labor vefore they turned off the cam and yes I also have 2 pictures from the birth video on there as well but I agree, you really aren't going to see the baby in those pictures. You just know it happened then :).
The slide show is on the For The Love Of Eagles forum under San Diego...You get there by going to my Blog just click on my name right here; and taking the link to the forum, just under the Live Eagle cam chatroom.
I think Suzanne is on the FeedBlitz and has probalby seen the forum link there when she visits. If she is lacking pictures I will send her a couple of them...such a neat gal and hard worker.
Have a Great Day all...soon now Guardian Eagle will have completed her special assignment at Frederick Memorial Hospital and be on her way elsewhere, but He will be by the side of MeMa Jo and her family as the recovery and rest continue from home.
PAULA-- Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure what pandas do with such a small offspring--thought perhaps, they might be like a kangaroo and keep it in pouch until it grows a more viable size.
No pouches in pandas, Wanda. Just like Paula said, normally just keep it close to their 4 nippes to feed, doesn't stray to far from the cub. Bai is a 4th time mom and she is doing an excellent job.
Panda cub is correct, and yes, it can be days or weeks before pandas eat or drink. I think it was 10 or 12 days before Mei left Tai, and the minute he opened his mouth to cry, she shot right back. I remember the day of his 1st checkup, she tried to climb thru the little window on the door to get to him.
Wonder what that is in the CT nest? Looks like a stiff piece of rope perhaps. Chick is standing on it, making it move up and down on the right side of the nest.
Hey PAULA, Just wanted to thank you for representing the Eagle Momsters to keep an eye on Jo when we couldn't get there for her. It takes a special lady fo do things like that for others. I really bet she was glad to see you when visited.
Bai Yun and her new cub are doing very well this first evening. I have been impressed tonight with how quiet our new youngster is. The cub is resting quietly for long stretches, some 20 to 30 minutes at a time on occasion. This is great for Bai Yun in that she gets to rest a lot too, recouperating after her very busy day.
Bai Yun has, as always, demonstrated her capacity for excellent mothering. She soothes the cub quickly with her gentle licking, holds the cub close in her forepaws, or tucks her nose down between her paws and breathes warm air into the space around the cub. I am actually very pleased to say I really haven’t seen the cub much since I arrived here at 4 p.m., which means Bai Yun is very ably doing her job of covering and protecting her cub from the elements.
So far, this cub seems to me most like Su Lin, who was also relatively quiet and undemanding from the moment of birth. This could be a temperament issue: do Bai Yun and Gao Gao just produce very mellow cubs? Or perhaps it’s a testament to Bai Yun’s experience: Mama has all the right moves!

Candy, nice breeze off the ocean...SD cam is on the cub site.
Good afternoon, all.
Glad to hear they really did let Jo go home this morning. Hope she is getting some rest!
Mits - I didn't get to see Su Lin. the lines were too long. Saw everything else, though.
Wild lightning storm last night, big bolts of thunder hitting the ground, but only enough rain to wet the pavement.
Done counting inventory, so I get to work in the office the rest of the day...
MITS--
What does Mom do with baby panda at this time, while it is so small? Does she hold it or put it in the straw?
Puget sound cam still stuck on July 31,
Kent, SC, CT, LI are all MT :(
Glad we will have a new panda to watch :)
Wanda, she will cuddle the cub in her arms, just like a person!
PAULA--

Mits - It can be days or a week or more? before she will leave the cub and only then for few minutes
Osprey in CT
I see Bai is snuggling with the new cublet now :)
Mits - Is there a term for a baby panda, other than baby panda.
Or Panda Cub, I should say.

That SD panda is sure a very attentive mother. I hope she rested up, as shw'll have her hands full now for awhile. :)
Candy - Like I said in the email, loved giving Jo the hug and kiss knowing who all was behind it! :)
Looks like she has been cleaning the lil' cublet. Still haven't seen it yet!
Wish they had audio at SD.
Both eaglets still at Kent
Bai is snoozing
