Good Morning All!! Suzanne, what an adventure you had yesterday. I'm up in that area all the time, will have to keep a pair of binoculars in the car with me from now on.
Hi Paula and Sharon. I don't know which album Suzanne's eagle pics are in, still looking. Suzanne, in your album you have a picture labeled cicada killer wasp on butterfly bush. The picture shows a clearwing hummingbird moth- it flies during the day and is often mistaken for a hummer or large bee at first glance. It is a good bug, harmless in your garden.

Just finished emails - MITS That article is just too cool about the juvie landing in the Bolton area.
The reasons are funny if you relate it to watching for a first flight & we all said that it won't be today because he ate too much - to heavy to fly. Oh, what memories.I did forward to Steve C & Steve W at FWS.

Toe is good, so long as I don't try to put it into a closed toe shoe. Finally went and bought a couple more open toe shoes for work, couldn't stand wearing the same pair everyday!

CT Osprey has moved back to his favorite eating spot at 12 noon
EW! I looked at a picture ofa cicada killer and they are gross looking. The hummingbird moth has a body resemblinga bee- cicada killer definitely has a wasp body. Hummingbird moths will fly right up to you- not afraid. At night, we go out to find the hummingbird moths that are flying around, you can stand in the flowers and they will zoom all aroud you. They burrow into the ground also, as a hornworm caterpillar and transform into moths in this wild looking chrysalis and then emerge. they only fly at night, the others are out during the day, they even sound like a hummer with their hum..., just no squeaking.

I am so excited about Steve seeing one of our babies. I surely wish I could. Also wish Todd would take more pictures so we could at least see them again. You people that live near there need to make another trip to see if you can see them!! I am afraid I would be camped out there if I lived near there.

You photo and Frap, I make website, mugs etc, and newsletters, and we give hourly or at the minimum daily updates on Liberty Belle and family. They will definitely be grandparents by then, and our 3 young uns will be parents. yep I think they awill all set up "nest" somewhere along the Potomac anyway,
Plan 2 WE put in job applications there at NCTC and wait for them to hire us to do whatever it is as long as we get free access to the Sycamore tree when nOT working. LOL

The adults don't really have any set migration pattern like many birds, it is more of an individual or pair decision on where they might go during the winter. In warmer winters many pairs stay close to home, if the winter is cold they may take off for the coast where the water will likely still be open and not iced in. It all seems to depend on how easy the fishing is any particular winter.

Was just outside, and sorry to report that what I thought was eagles were turkey vultures. Got a good look at them today, as it was cloudy and they flew right over me. Headless looking creatures - turkey vultures.
I don't think that the Potomac River has frozen for a good many years..

That she got out of the craddle and went up to the X where two logs meet and put "her thing" down on it and rubbed and rubbed till I thought she would be raw. I was wondering if it had anything to do with maybe being pregrant??????
Now that I haven't seen Lun Lun do until today. Usually all the scratching and been "below". hummmm

Dana really gets confused in the morning... Glo and Sharon are retiring and moving into atent on NCTC property.. Hey gals will they let you have usage of the porta potty at the guard shack????lol Belle my balloon is still up but slowly shrinking..lol Ok i am off this wknd and calling for alot of rain but maybe just maybe can sneak in a trip over to NCTC to take alook at the sky since Steve said he is seeing one... I'm not sure there is even a guard there any more but just take along your certificates...you know the one like Suzanne carries with her all the time. The more the Officials spot them and realize they are .Official too, well who knows how valuable they will become and YES they definitely will get you into the porta potty!!
JO How do you keep the pic of Lun on your screen all the time? I just have mine at bottom, and go into it from time to time. I used to keep the eagles up, but can't remember how I did it.

The zoo has been showing shots of TIAN TIAN and he has the itchys too. Now I think, I have them from watching these pandas.
Didn't see any turkey vultures on my last trip outside.
But there is no doubt about it. Turkey vultures soar beautifully like eagles, but they are no eagle! They are indeed ugly.
But not all creatures on this earth can be beautiful...but they are useful.
Our ugly vulture can prove to be very useful in making sure the dead animals are gone from the earth. What would we do without them cleaning that up?!
The turkey vulture is one of the only birds in North America with a sense of smell. This vulture relies both on its keen eyesight and powerful nose to search out food.

Nilla every hospital has this thing. Can't remember what it is called. It is where someone has left money when they past or they just set up a fund. It is to help people that can't afford their hospital bill. Did you check with both hospitals to see if there is any such fund monies;sometimes they do run out fast in year.

I'm baaaaaack ( I know thanks for the warning, right?).... Nilla - WAY TO GO 17 days! And they have been some rough ones lately with those bills! Glad to see you're looking into some sources for info about those outrageous bills! It just seems SO wrong... you work your tail off and can't afford insurance, but aren't on welfare, so you have to pay a fortune to cover all the welfare folks' bills... I'm sure the AG, Byrd and other agencies can give you some advice on how to handle everything. Just make sure you contact the billing offices and tell them you want to try to make arrangements to pay what you can so they don't start calling and hounding you for the money.
I'm so excited about Frieda - she's turning those eggs a lot. For anyone who is curious why and not sure - it is to keep the little chick from 'sticking' to the shell, and getting kinda 'flat' on the bottom... from staying in one position too long. The bigger the chicks get, the more often they need to be 'rotisseried' lol I bet Frieda loves the idea of a hot dog roller thingie - that would be awesome... set it to provide just the right amount of heat and keep them on a slow gentle roll, she could take a wee bit longer break! Soon she'll be busy flying to help find food for her growing babes, right? Dad does come help out bringing food and letting mom fly and hunt once they're hatched, doesn't he?
Ahhhh thanks Floral the very very sad part is my daughter Melissa is a lawyer yes she graduated from LSU But doesnt talk to me so no free legal advise....Come to think about it she doesnt talk to any family ya know we are trash she is the cream of the crop, forgets where she came from and who was there for her in her hard times ..
Maybe one of you that went back then to NCTC might remember talking to her about what kind of work she did. Maybe about family; she did say she has a brother I think younger (guessing there).

Hey Nilla, I can relate, I have two brothers and neither speaks to me, not that i'd want them to. Pretty sad, though. Congrats on 17 days smoke free! I wish I could get my hubby to quit. Nasty habit.

DANA Sharon asked about anyone hearing from Angie & I think my response was on last night's blog. She didn't blog much due to her work schedule. She used to come on the blog for a short time after working, read the comments and then say Hi to all of us. We all remember her well & also her interest in the eagles. Twice she came up from Winchester to meet us & visit the tree. None of us have had any word from her for a long time. I had mentioned that my emails include her & they aren't returned.
Any special reason you are asking - like have you heard from her?

No Jo just remembered that some was asking if anyone had heard from her. You had said few days ago you emailed her but hadn't heard anything back. Nillabean and I were just talking on phone last night, and thought of her.

Angie has a younger brother - Nilla & I both met him on the 1st trip to NCTC. He was moving to TX (right Nilla?) That's all I know.
