Okay, watching Frieda and those beautiful pink eggs. It was about 10:30 last night eagle time when I saw the 2 eggs. Do you reckon she is done or how long does it take for falcons to actually lay all their eggs. Any falcon experts out there?
I am glad you're here. You can see Frieda's eggs right now - she's taking a break. First I had seen them & they are such a pretty pink. They sure do blend in with the pebbles.

I am watching a Eagle live cam i found its on the Bio Diversity Research Inst. To in nest looks like they have fledged aparent cam ein the 1 had food and mantled then another kid flew in and all H broke loose ..

One of the osprey up in CT. is standing on the cam boom and it has distorted the color of the cam. Smurf bear does not look to blue right now

Here is another question for us eagle/bird experts. How do birds lay on eggs to incubate them without cracking them?

Getting caught up on blogs here - sure is nice to be able to read all the happenings while I've been working. Sadly not finished with the project yet - it is taking so LONG. Beautiful sunset here. Mits and Sandy You're blue now! That was so funny to read - I laughed and laughed. Thanks - I sure needed it :) Now I'm watching Lady Frieda - saw her eggs and they are big! They seem bigger than our babies were when they were eggs, maybe it is just the fact that the nest they were in was so much bigger and farther from the cam. When Frieda looks straight at the cam I feel like an INTRUDER - like she's sayin 'leave me alone you peepin tomasina!'
Same one Nilla. That is so beautiful in the sunshine when you can see the water sparkling in the background! The only thing that gets on my nerves is that it cuts off after 2 minutes.
Farther east than you are SHARON sun set here at 8:14p.m., so Maine sticks out father than Maryland, so they would be darker still. The sun in OC sets about 10 mins earlier than here in Bethesda.

Yes she is beautiful. I'm still partial to Lib and Belle and our little ones, but I could learn to love that face- if only I had time... I'd keep it up in my classroom this fall so my students could watch the whole great event, but the time is wrong... bummer. We'll just have to wait on our eagles again this winter. Wow - something to look forward to during the mid-winter blues... now that's a good feeling.
Hi BELLE I was a crazy woman last night. Laughed so hard, could not settle down til around 3:00a.m., but was watching the "First 48 Hours", one of my favorite shows.
I have to agree that last night was a blast!! I laughed til I cried, a lot!!
Just went to check on the osprey site. Osprey Cam Admin is a powerful force over there. Calmed things way down. Somebody named Tim has been posting quite a bit today! Good stuff too!
I was trying to remember the Falcon in Harrisburg. Were the stones colored or just grey?
The color of the stones here make her stand out beautifully and I love the piece of greenery. Hummmm wonder if Foral Girl put that there?

I just turned on the bio diversity cam since I don't feel at all like working and no one is here to guilt me into it tonight. It was the weirdest dark picture - neat in a way. I guess it was the leaves swaying in the wind with just a tiny bit of light on the edges of the leaves... I'll have to try it again in daylight.

I know what you mean about the 2 minute thingie but i just have my curser on the play buton when i see its getting close and bring it up real fast again.. when i 1st turned it on 1 fledgling in the nest and it was mantlin so i watched, seemed to be eating then aparent flew in and man it would not budge from mantling then a kid flew in and they kind of got into it but i did see the other one steal some food and move to a limb and then fly away.. Your right the water is nice. Good to see a EAGLE agin!!! I think after work on Sunday at 6 pm i am going to ride over to NCTC and have alook..

Now this up close and personal cam on Frieda is all good until it comes to feeding those babies. Then I don't even want to be this close to the action!
Belle if I remember the only reason the build a nest is because they are Adult Eagles and have a mate and going to start a family.
I think Frieda is wishin there was some memory foam in among those rocks! Not a very cozy bed!

Thanks neighbor Vicky.. so they have to hang out on branches (literally) for the next 4 years or so? I guess they don't mind that, but a cozy nest to snuggle up in sounds more relaxing than grabbin on to a branch for dear life and tryin to sleep at the same time. I'll take my posturpedic, thanks!
Well I do remember also Belle that Lisa said at the Blackwater site that after the Osprey leave. They leave the cam up because you see other birds and sometimes eaglets in the nest. Maybe they sleep in other nest that aren't being used.

Vicky you might be right on the 500 - I won't make a spot on my mantle for the trophy :) I'm not gonna go back and count the logs :), so I will concede the contest to the wonderful Sharon :) she already has quite a collection, so a 500 will look awesome with the others :)
Has anyone gone to the grizzly cam? I went to it a few times and remember someone saying they thought one of the grizzlies was punctured and bleeding? I don't have nearly that clear a view of them - they always look a bit fuzzy around the edges, or too small and 'far away' for me to see clearly if I don't make the cam 2x or full screen... am I doing something wrong with my settings that they aren't clear?
Well been watching hubby's flight from Cinn, Ohio on Flythe Comm and see that the eagle has landing and he will be home in about a half hour. Going to run around the house and make it look like I've done something today .LOL!

LOL Mits - I know how that works, my guys will be home Sunday, so I will wait til they're on the way to start any tidy up. I hope the wedding is an indoor evening wedding tomorrow - still too hot to dress up in the heat of the day. Ugh nylons and summer - NOT a good combination. Belle when you go into the grizzly site are you looking in there where it gives the time and then the time that a person guides the camer. So are you in at the time the person guides the camera?

Hi Vicky - yes when I've been there the camera has panned around, so I guess someone is moving it - sure wasn't ME - LOL at least I hope not, cause I don't know how.. I've read some blogs where y'all are sayin you get to move the camera, but I think I best not do that - might break it!

Nilla - jeep is a good idea. The guards know it too, and it is much easier to 'rub an arm' with the open sides of the jeep :) I would so love to see our eagles soar again... every bird I see in the sky I stop and wonder if it is them, but usually a hawk size at most, so not them. I wish I could put out a sign in my back yard for them and say - tree for rent - free fish and turtles available!
Frieda is taking another break. I guess the rocks hold heat and keep the eggs warm while she stretches. Does that camera move sometimes too? I was looking at other pictures in their gallery and some seem to show the whole ledge and one the water right up against the building practically! What a neat place

I got my panda magnets in the mail today! One of Tian Tian (spelling? - cringing from Sharon's ruler in case it is spelled wrong) and the other one of Tai Shan - the cutie! I guess I should check out that cam, too. Feels good to be 'bad' and not working for a change, but I will panic in a little bit and be up all night working I bet

Belle as far as I know I've been in the grizzle cam and only the time when the guide moves it. We can't. There have been alot of close up pics where you can see bite marks on their heads. Even see them fighting. No bark little little panda cub

Is that Frieda back? I guess dad doesn't do any nest duty? I think Liberty is such a gentleman, helping out the way he did. Eagles are so awesome. I hope Frieda gets catered meals at least some of the time.
Okay, a little falcon info:
The female will usually become lethargic about the time an egg will be laid and be very short-tempered for a week or so during & after the process.
Clutch-size for Peregrines is 1-5 eggs, but usually averages about 3. So F&F are near the top end of productivity because they have a clutch size of 4.
The eggs are laid at around 48hr intervals. With Peregrines, the first couple of eggs are likely to hatch the first couple of eggs on the same day with the last up to 2 days later.
Incubation is going to take about 33 days with fledging happening around 6 weeks after that.

Thanks for the info Sharon. You are so good to us! A month seems like such a short time for so much to happen! I'd be crabby too if I knew what I had to get outside of me. I think it is actually comparatively a bigger 'feat' than a human giving birth. But soft egg would help a lot. I don't remember anything SOFT about my kids heads - during birth or since! Hard heads - LOL

All is quiet in the panda den guess bellies are full and stretched out on the rocks sleeping.. From watching the cam of F&F i thought the nest was on the ground.. see i learned something looking at those photos it way high up on a ledge.. Duh should have knowen that after watching the Harrisburg Falcons.. Wonder how they are doing any one know?? Besides Peanut being killed? Sad
Oh my goodness - my daughter bought some dark chocolate M&Ms to take with her to GSMS camp and oopsie they got left behind. They are SO good - wow dark chocolate is a whole different twist to the M&M thang! Yum.

No, actually I went to the frodocam site and found it. I also did as Jo suggested (I try to follow suggestions today) and asked the expert there about her feeding during incubation. More will be revealed!

What did you find out about Frieda eatin while the eggs are incubating? I hope someone feeds her during that month!!
Okay, couldn't wait on an answer from frodocam, so here goes:
During the incubation period, which lasts about 36 days, the female will sit on the eggs during the night and most of the day. The male returns to the nest with food, although he occasionally looks after the eggs for short periods during the day to allow the female to hunt for herself.
During the final days of incubation the female does not leave the eggs.

Vicky I agree on the legs rubbin together not being pleasant. But the panty hose never fit right, so they rub, too and that is worse! That is why I wear slacks or shorts unless a dress is absolutely MANDATORY. At least until I loose about 50 lbs! Then who knows!

Mel got caught drunk driven and then said some awful things about Jewish people and such.. HE is in rehab now from what i saw on the news signed his self in..
