I was just getting ready to tell you to come out, come out, wherever you are. Good morning, Suzanne!! Did you see Mits name in blue for real! I laughed so hard last night trying to get that to work for her!! I love being here!!
We did not get free lemonade this week but this weekend they are having a little festival if you will - Lemonade Days. All the business in town (what is left of them) have cutouts of lemons on their windows. They will sell arts and crafts and such. Music in Chicory Square, such stuff as that.
Both eaglets at home in the Maine nest. I love them!!

Suzanne, there was a lot of noise. Parent brought the food in, twice this morning. The second time, one of the eaglets grabbed the food and flew off. He said he wasn't going to fight over it, he took it someplace else to eat in peace!! :)
Been watching the Brisbane peregrine falcon. She has 2 eggs now. Of course it is dark there now and she appears to be sleeping, incubating those pretty pink eggs!
Morning Suzanne and Sharon-is it really morning already?sooo tired,Can't believe I went to bed just before Mitsfigured out how to get her name in blue-with only a little foul language and lots of theft identity occuring all around her.Now Mits,we are waiting for a pic beside your name-no pressure.Feels better outside this morning-we'll see as the day warms up-can't believe I am supposed to be excited cause it's "only" gonna be 90-but if the sun stays away and the humididty is down,it will be so much better.Don't see much in the way of rain though,starting to really get dry here again.Need to get to work cutting flowers,but can't get my butt out of this chair.

I have had it with that baby bear, I want to smack his bottie so hard, ooooooooooo nice,, he was so happy then eating in the long grass, but ooooo noooo he has to go and upset Mai, who was fast asleep in the air cooled grotto, he has deceied agaisnt it now and is lying like daddy Tian, flat out on his back leaning on a rock chewing something, in the country we would call him a fidgit, a right little devil, ooooo but I love him.
Visited all the Eagle sites I could find, but not many at home, watched a few ospreys, and still found the stork nest with both mum and dad still in it, I think that terrible as it most be so infected with all that fungus THANKS JIM XXXXX

Chrissy, last night we worked really hard to get Mits signed into the blog so her name would come up in blue. This has been an ongoing process for a few months and we finally got it working last night. I came on as her (as I made her a blog page), then we all started doing it so we were saying identity theft!! So I am going to say anonymous was either Mits or Glo! All in fun, though!

thanks you pet only I had such a scare then as I thought it was that twit from yesterday on the osprey site, he/she started all that trouble off again and all I wanted to do was watch the birds.
I wonder did you, I know Sharon did read all the blogs over there and all the problems I had,All I said was that I new this chap called Tiger from way back, and Trisha jumped down my throat, all I said was that I has watched FLAG fledge, if you call flying off the nest and flying for about 3 and a half mins then come back and mske a crash landing in the nest again, I call that fledging, and up comes a rather caustic reply from him saying " I REALLY DONT THINK YOU DID " so I reaplied and said I wasnt the only one and Trisha shot me doem with both barrels you see coming to Tigers defence, and terrible thnigs took off from there you see, like most people they dont like to be called a liar and I'm one of them my reputation is dear to me and I also like to be thought of a a nice person, but unfortunately I was dragged into it all and I didnt even see most of it coming, but I had to defend myself and wont apologise for that, but like a fool I did and got told to bugga off for my pains so I wont got back to that site ever.
I hope you all dont think to badly of me but I'm nice honest !!!!!!!

I would like to say that I am sick of all these weather men in their fancy suits reporting from their air conditioned studios telling me how much cooler it is today!Yes,it is slightly cooler,but still HUMID and hot-just not "my skins on fire hot"-Sorry,just tired of hearing these giddy weathermen telling me how excited they are about the temperature being lower and they are in air conditioning all day-and they only get the forecast right about half the time..sorry for the rant-my apologies,must be heatstroke from the past few days..really,sorry, as I wipe the sweat from my brow..

Thanks pet, but Frieda does have the knack to hide at times, but she is a love and such a good mum, I think she is still on the same roof she always uses but I cant tell this year as the cam is at a different angle, so its a waiting game again to see things properly isnt it, little monkey she is hideing those eggs HOW DARE SHE !!!!!

No is the answer pet if only he could pet.....
But we did see him once in with Mai and little gobbo one Sunday afternoon, someone made a boo boo and left the door open and he was sat with Mai quietly eating bambbo and gobbo was playing so sweetly between them both. SO yes I think they all should be together as that showed no violence and all was a really cute and swwet family sight to see, but the zoo dont seen to think its a good ideam WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ?????

DLT AND CHRISSY Tian will get it one day, he is still kinda young, don't care how they do it, just as long as the deed is done. SHARON The only interaction between the 3 are thru the little screened window at the top of the yard near the entrance to their den. Dad pandas have nothing to do with rasing their young. I wish they would show him more, like when Tai is up the tree. Tian can be quite entertiaing, Tai gets his hammness from his DAD.
I think family gatherings would be great if they have proven they would be okay. Should we petition the National Zoo? Just joking!! Really, not petitioning anybody!

WE as Mother Hens deceided a long time ago that we would all make panda suits and fly over to the zoo at the dead of night and with the help of out Washington Hen Melissa go under cover and kidknap Mai Tian and little gobbo and bring him over here to look after we called it Panda Covert 1, but we all chickened out but just might still do that you know

Okay I am confused on the panda cam. Who is who and who is where?
Tian is eating bamboo in his den. These cam people drive me daffy, sometimes, but, can't be harsh, they are volunteers. Ah D&C on you covert-op, might have to fight me and my sister, we will be at the gates to foil your plan:):):)LOL!!

Right lets explain.
Mai and gobbo in the big den full of light and it had four doors in it loads of rocks and two water fountains and windows that stretch the full length of the upper wall abouve the rocks, and infront there is a viewing window for the general public to watch and take photos.
Tians.
His is much smaller and darker and only had one main door and one to the rear of the den, he has not got any big windows and his rocks are taller and more compact he has one water fountain and he likes to sleep on the floor , I hope that helps pet.

Yeah, cause it looked like Mei and Tai were playing, then it looked their den somebody was eating bamboo in! Got really confused there for a minute. When they have Mei and Tai together, they need to put panda cam 2 on Tian!

If you look at Mai Xiang she has a much rounder forehead and her ears have little white tufts at the bottom and she has a black bang over the bridge of her nose and she from the back has bra straps that meet inot a point in the middle of her back and she had round black breast bits as if the bra is for real.

He has a good straight flat part to his foehead and solid black ears, he also has two large black dots on the bridge of his nose like gobbo, and his marking go straight across his back and they dont dip like MAI'S, he has solid black stockings on his legs and Mai only has them up to her thighs.
And ofcourse our darling Mai has that sexy wiggle, oooo la la !!!

we should know them well pet as we have watched 24/7 since well before gobbo was conceived and if I canr sleep which is often I watch all night to and I think when you love an animal so much you just take a lot of notice, you get to know how they walk and there personallities and what they like and dont like, its like being a keeper but with out being there to be with them, OOOOOOOOOOO I WISH,, would love to look after them, plus we have been to every other panda site you can thing of and are waiting now to see if Lun Lun is preggers oh now that would be so wonderful.

Hello all, just stopped in for a quick shout out..
sharon The shell of an egg is formed last, and is soft while in the female, and until shortly after being laid, then it starts to harden quickly. Labor pains? Possibly -- I've heard pigeons GRUNT when laying an egg, so I imagine it's at least uncomfortable! Never having had a child myself, I can't say what it feels like for a human, but I doubt it's anywhere near that painful for a bird....
chrissy I'm the one with fibromyalgia :-) It sucks. I have good days and bad days...
all Hugo died from aspergillosis, which is an infection caused by the fungus Aspergillum sp.. Humans get it, too. The fungus is found on plant matter such as dead leaves, branches, etc. The storks' previous clutches died from this same infection. Supposedly, the nest was "sprayed" to kill the fungus, but it would be impossible to completely kill the fungus on all surfaces of such a large nest built of piles of sticks, twigs, etc. What they need to to is remove the nest, sterilize the platform, and let the storks start over.
Aspergillosis is something that I, as a wild bird rehabilitator, have to deal with from time to time. Because humans can also be affected by the fungus, and I have an autoimmune disorder (fibromyalgia), I have to be aware of the condition of any plant materials our birds came from/live in. We had a problem a few years ago where a bale of hay we had got wet, and there were Aspergillum spores in the hay which then went bananas and spread like wildfire throughout the bale. We had to throw out the bale and thoroughly clean out anywhere we had put the hay down. It's a tough critter, this fungus. The stork-nest caretakers should know better than to just spray a nest to kill it, the whole nest has to be removed.
Maybe they'll get the idea before the next breeding season starts.

Mai has got her lolly, and gobbo got nothing, now I ask you is that fair,,, he is doing everything he can think of to get some, but has settled for the milk bar instead, well he does have four to choose from, strawberry, orange, banana, and his fav CHOCOLATE, but the pull of a lolly is far to much, he needs his ice fix, but Mai has a good back leg to keep him at bay.

Sandy Please forgive me I am so very sorry. Sandy sent the most beautiful Tribute yesterday...She had me in tears the moment I read it. I had to put it aside for a whiel Unfortunately I forgot then to transfer it to the inserts to be uploaded first thing today. hers is at the end to save on having to change all the Font colors all the way down. Worry over Frieda is back, here we go again, more worry over chicklets, Last year we worried our selves sick like you have with your eagles, over our London Peregrins, they has three babies, who were called
Oddie, Humble, and our very dear sweet little wobble, he had a bad foot, and then on of the girls fell off the ledge into a balcony below but we didnt know that for a day or two and boy did we have sleepless nights, but all are fine and healthy now .

It is at the angle the cam is at right now but when Frieda left I think it was lifted just a little higher and I really noticed two eggs behind that tuft of long grass and your quite right it is the only tuft on the whole ledge, I took a look at all the pictures and saw that it is indeed the usual place they nest.

Went to Osprey site in WS and seems now you cant leave a comment talking to anyone there ONLY bout the Osprey is allowed..
