Big Day--May 1

It's been a big day for the eagles. Not seeing the cam for the weekend makes the differences from last week, both appearance and behavior, even easier to see.

One of the adults brought in this afternoon what looks like a pigeon. The adult gave a lesson in plucking feathers, and then our youngest eaglet stepped up, put talons on the pigeon, and started trying to pluck.

In addition, two of the eaglets were helping themselves to the meal, without being fed. Combine this with the largest eaglet perched fully upright on the edge of the nest, and I think the kids are now adolescents. Hope they behave.

Ya know until I started watching these eagles I didn't know that birds actually ate other birds to survive. Well I've watched these little ones long enough to want them to eat...no matter where they get there food LOL

It is after 7 pm and alot of feather plucking just went on in the nest and the babies are eating once again. Could not tell what it was but there are several fish laying around also. They sure get fed good my the parents. They sure like to give us watches a thrill by perching right on the edge, i find myself saying move back little one your going to fall..lol Flapping wings, yawning, eating and pooping, the kids sure look healthy!

I hate that I missed the feather plucking -- well maybe not. Hopefully I will get to watch more tomorrow.

Okay, I can't take this. We have missed out on a lot in the past few days. They are probably ready to graduate high school by now. Steve, help us please!!! :)

Yea, technology is great, until it breaks! Going thru withdrawal, too! Guess this site is getting too popular. I can't believe the changes in our "teenagers" since just last Friday, hard to believe they are 5 to 6 weeks old already. Pretty soon they'll be taking that first flight....

Just setting here thinking friends that we watcher's of "OUR" eaglets, are missing them now not being able to view. What are we going to do when the day comes they fly off? I know myself i will shed afew tears, but as Steve said there is always next year... smile Sharon they are growing so independent of parents and trying to eat food, plucking feather's, flappin wings and looking out over the edge of the nest as if thinking Hmmmm i wonder what is out there..lol They all 3 never cease to amaze our ever popular audience. Its almost 12:30 Tuesday afternoon and no cam

Hi,

we're working on it. We've been seeing a fair amount of trouble with the system the past several days, so we're trying to get to the bottom of the problems. Waiting for a prognosis call right now.

1:07 p.m. I clicked on realplayer and got so excited because it looked like it was coming up. All I got was the dreaded blue screen. Oh Steve, how are things going your way? Can you all see them or is it just totally off? Just wondering. Nilla, I will be crying too. This is just so cool (when it works, that is). :(

Should be back online now.

They are back!! Thank you, thank you.

Yes they are back, but the video isnt that good for some reason, like before. I like to watch the babies in theater mode on real player, so clear. I hope they get to moving around the nest because i can not see all three there?????????? Lord i hope its hiding Ahhh there all 3 are wow i was skeered for awhile. Steve how long before we might see Big Boy try for his first solo flight?

Thank you Steve! Please never take our comments of disappointment as personal! Technology is technology and you really do have a handle on it! I'm sure you get as frustrated as we sometimes do. Our comments reflect how very important this site has become for us - we have all bonded!

Nilla,
Are you using the upgraded, pay for version of Real Player? My video has never been that clear with the free version...when you go to theatre mode, it is blurry.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

My theatre version is blurry too. The little version works better for me. It just scrambles sometimes. Steve -- ditto to what Jo said. We really have all bonded. This is just so good.

NillaWafer said...

No i just have regular version of real player. I am on cable and the theater version is clear for me. I usually watch it at x2 mode. Just checked and its nap time in the nest, so ill get some work finished and check in awhile. Hope everyone is having a great day its beautiful outside. We all have bonded in away, but like our own childern grow and leave the nest so will "OUR" Eaglets. But they have given us such enjoyment watching them thrive and grow and learn from parent's the skill's they need to make it on their own one day. But i hope not to soon.

5/2/06 7:40pm: Looks as though they are getting ready to settle in for the night. A little while ago there was a wing-flapping foot-stomping exercise done by Big Boy and Mr.Inbetween. They seemed to be trying to outdo the other with how long & how hard they could flap those large wings. Spunky seems to be able to find leftovers in the nest to eat. It's been a good day!

Raindrops just roll off the back Here, dear. Let me hit you in the head with this stick LO. L. 10:10 37 Scout gets up and exits the nest to...
