Ms Bookworm said... Hi, Gang, Checking in to see what's happening. Went to get some breakfast earlier, and never made it back here. Lots of cleanup in the kitchen, then lots of reading for school. Have a final tonight in Transcription Practice.
Looks like Belle is back on the nest. Maybe she knows more than we do. Praying for a miracle!
Welcome to the newcomers who are here today!
Judie, condolences for the loss of your ancient washer. Mine's currently a Maytag, but the previous one, a Kenmore, was the best ever. Daughter has a front-loader, and it's extremely good. Wish I had one of those, but only if I win the Lottery. Definitely look for one with a ding or scratch--Sears outlet near us has fantastic deals on those. Well, back to studying.... Later, alligators! :o]
There IS a 3rd egg, but we're pretty sure it's fallen down into the snow that was in the egg cup. Not sure if it would still be viable, but Belle doesn't seem to want to give up on it. Lib, not so much. MTBR...
thought this was cute from the Mount Washington Observatory....
Dear helen,
I received a humorous email from an Obs fan today that pretty much sums up the state of Mount Washington’s weather:
"I usually check the weather on the top of Mount Washington to make me feel better about what it’s like in Baltimore. But, today, I think your weather is better than ours. I get the feeling that it will be Easter before I dig out my car.”
The storm that buried this person (and probably most of the rest of you) once again missed the Whites. Such is the theme of this winter so far. December ended .46” below average, January 6.08” below average, and February is already behind by 6.86”.
Thirty-year Obs veteran and current director of summit operations Ken Rancourt recently attempted to raise moral at a staff meeting by pointing out that “in 1988, we got 110.9 inches of snow in April…” Here's hoping for a repeat this year!
I was wondering...you know how people who fall into near-freezing lakes and drown are thawed out, given CPR, and sometimes survive? If the eggs got frozen quickly enough, would they be viable when they thaw? Just a thought.
I used to work up on the Presidential Range, in the winter at times, and have friends that have worked ( and still work) at the Obs. It is a cool place to work, but don't be fooled, even when the wind is howling at 140 mph and it's 30 below, they have extremely nice diggs there...
I'm no expert, but I don't see how they can be viable, especially the first two, which have been buried under snow. The third egg has been uncovered for so long, so many times, seemed doomed when she laid it during a blizzard.
I did not know that, Megan....it is a very interesting site...I have posted its address here before, but know one said if they visited the site or not....
Well, my 2 cents say that the last egg may have a chance. It was covered well during the worst of the storm and we watched it being rolled with the nest material. At least I did.
I never underestimate a raptor. But that being said , the eagles have no way of knowing if they are viable or not. so we may have to wait and see. and i love seeing them
now how can I get Tea out of my carpet. Just spilled the darn thing
Good Afternoon everyone....I'm glad to be back for another season...trying to catch up on all that's happened since Lib and Belle's return....jus got the internet back up and running..Hope all goes well for them.

well I'm thinking of a couple of years ago, when they were close to hatching and they did not survive, this was earlier in the process, therefore, much more fragile, but that is just my thought process, will leave it up to experts and L&B
I just e-mailed Lisa a bit ago and she said you never know. O f course we do not know and I just keep remembering Maine in 2007 and how long she was away form the eggs and 2 still hatched, even the storm took the young

There was lots of water dripping from the roof while I was paying and picking up the food. Then all of a sudden a huge load of snow and ice dropped on my hood.

Hi y'all. I don't think I'd want to be anywhere near Mt. Washington right now....the coldest place on earth...brrrrr. My family is from that part of New Hampshire and lucky for me, my parents got to Texas and warmer land :)
Looks like Belle is being an awesome mama hanging out on the nest.
Lolly, wow, that's just the difference of a few hundred miles. It's cold here and nasty rainy, but no snow. Hopefully you don't have to drive anywhere or very far. Of course, snow is a relative novelty to us, so maybe you should be and play in it like your husband said :) Take pictures and post them!
seeing your icicle Paula... reminds me there are some unbelievable icicles out now one huge one directly over our entrance door at work hoping no one got pierced coming and going there today
My what a messy nest. So, you think that is Lib? I am amazed if you think it is him.
Back from walking in the snow. Wish I had my boys here. I would blast them with snowballs and help them build a snowman. Think I shamed Laurel into going out and playing.
Have lots of pictures but feel foolish to post them. Nothing compared to your snow. However, this much snow for us is so rare and fun! Will let you know when I get them up.
Andy, good luck on your final!! Bet you will ace it!
Wanda.......behave!!! I was going to say "like I care??"
Well, we ALMOST made it to 1000 on last thread!
Mits, loved the visit to Mt. Washington back in '95 that we made---summertime!!! THe cog railway was fun---but sure was glad when it was time to comeback down. Brrr...don't know about other parts of the world, but it IS the most brutal part of our continent. I have used your link a lot---sorry I never mentioned it. My bad...
Oh Margy, I accidently knocked the icicle off, it was looking really cool too. I have another one that's getting just as long...don't have to walk under them.
you are welcome for the slideshow. My computer closed down so I am just back on. I am gong to try that blog thing the computer is on its last legs and I am hoping we have enough saved soon for a new one.LOL
HOw will I do this so I can post picutres etc. sorry. I am clueless here. I am used to jsut putting in my settings on forum Is anyone on nest. I have to shut cam down to see this
live feed slows lots of us down, Bev... hard to blog and watch and all that....slows some of our computers down a lot You will get some help on your questions. Lots of expert help here !
Hi Mits, glad you got some cool mail today ♥ had some good LOL about the 42 Posts....
Cabin fever!!! Had to shoot something so I took some shots through the front door of our local birds yesterday during the blizzard. We're getting quite a few of them.

The title will appear at the bottom of your Blogger Page.
Once you have set up your blog, you can add pictures.
Edit Profile My Account Blogger New Post Add Image and follow the directions. I haven't done as well adding videos. I have used You Tube to do that.
by the way, just in case no one else did, I emailed Steve that the first 50 or so comments on the new thread had info about the eggs, and cut and pasted Megan's and Jo's posts about it also sure he was reading that, but just in case not
I have deleted all pics and documents from my netbook. Also found that my internet favorites DO take up computer space because when deleted they end up in the recyle bin (deleted emails don't!). So I deleted a lot of them, too. So will try to see if I can blog and email again without wierd appearance of pages and freezing.
Hope it is a spring arrival Bob. I have seen flocks come in this early around here, but we also have some overwintering ones in the woods... Not THAT morning and evening song is intoxicating, have it on my bird clock which reminds me twice a day how nice it is ♪
Another Hedgesville Great Grandson story - This time from Joseph age 6. Phone rang and it was my gd saying that Joseph wanted to talk to me as they had been watching the Live Feed. 'Mema - we just saw your eagle fly into the nest - then he flew out but he is back now and he is eating!' He was so excited. I told him we thought he had a catfish from the river - the river where you and dad go canoeing. Joseph said 'You mean the Potomac?' Took me for a loop! I promised him that when the snow goes away I would take him down to visit the Sycamore Palace and hope that he could see Lib & Belle. He was there at Open house but it was that very rainy day and didn't go by the tree.
Lynn- emails don't go to your recycle bin, they go to the deleted folded in your email programs. Your favorites shouldn't be taking up that much space to delete them. Try clearing out all your browsing history instead.
Okay, I have uploaded a lot of our snow pictures on facebook. We are up to 6 inches and they said on the news that it will continue for another 8 to 10 hours. It has been above freezing all day,but been snowing since 3 this morning,.
Will bring some over here. Will let you know when I have them loaded.
Hi all! Wow, about 200 or mores posts since I left to go shovel!
Got a terrible scare today. We took Daisy out for a walk and my neighbors were out and Daisy was goofing and jumping and pulling like crazy playing....and slipped out of her collar. Long story short, she got out to the road and took off. Steve was able to corner her in a neighbors yard and bring her home. I was scared to death. Thank God she got trapped in their yard by snow drifts but he had to tackle her to get her. Thank God thank God thank God they are both OK.
I just posted a bunch of pictures on my blog.
We shoveled for hours. I'm DONE, I don't care what happens from this point on!
Paula, I said that emails don't but favs do. That's why if we log into our email on another puter, our mail is there, but our favs aren't----email is with the email provider; favs are on the installed/used browser, I guess. I delete browsing hx. and cookies every day.
OK Daisy Back to the rubber room with the straight jacket and tranquilizers.
Gosh Lynne gald that story turned out the way it did.
I am back from my own cabin fever cure. I am really cold and actually managed to fall into a snow bank today with my camera and big eagle lens. Neither camera nor lens are weather proof.I wiped it all of and I think its ok. Snow is cold but soft. :-) The best news is I wasn't at all embarassed. I was running to get pictures of the "clicker fish:-) " and well I didnt get any that time but all around me the cameras were going off so no one was watching my graceful moment.
And there sits our Belle. Hmmm Bless her heart I know nothing else to say.
Lynne good pictures. Daisy reminds me of my Princess. If she got out the door or yard. Off she would go but the neighbors knew her and would bring her back. Glad all turned out okay.

Steve- we believe three eggs have now been laid. The last one laid during the snowstorm on Tuesday around 6 pm.
And I'm still digging out! At least it is starting to melt where you clear it off. Thanks Steve.
Jim I've been waiting all morning to hear about a new thread - Thank You!
Someone on the nest finally.
thanks, Jim for the call over....3 eggs, so far
Thanks, Steve--

The eagles are on the egg well and then off again.
1st egg 2/2 10:15pm
2nd egg 2/6 2:12pm (est time)
3rd egg 2/9 6:00pm (est time)
Laura, my gut feeling is they are not viable, weather has been so severe there in the last week, but never say never...
I yelled at everyone to come on over!
Thanks Steve!!
Brought this over from the old blog:

Yea! Sounds like Bev just may be joining us. That is SUPER!

Has someone emailed Steve. He asked for an email to update him.
Hi Andy, have a great night at school and with the transcription final. Let us know when you get home.
I used to work up on the Presidential Range, in the winter at times, and have friends that have worked ( and still work) at the Obs. It is a cool place to work, but don't be fooled, even when the wind is howling at 140 mph and it's 30 below, they have extremely nice diggs there...
Andrea, I don't think so...:(
Steve, I believe one of the earlier eggs has reappeared out of the snow in the egg cup; so now it appears she has two under her.

Well, gotta go study for tonight's final. BBL....
I watch the Obs cams all the time, love seeing the wind chill there, makes me feel all warm and toasty.
I love those cams, too. MIts. I grew up in NH.

Thank you, Steve. Hope you are able to stay warm.
I did not know that, Megan....it is a very interesting site...I have posted its address here before, but know one said if they visited the site or not....
I love the pic, and the stories....
When we went to Mt. Washington a couple years ago we rode the clog railroad to the top. It was fun!
that's on my bucket list, Lolly...so much to do, so little time left.
I made it here.
Mits - you talk your jubby into that retirement by showing him your bucket list! Go while the going is good! ♥
BEV - Today'slesson learned:
Don't try to drink tea and blog at the same time!
Yep!!. I get that now LOL
I will have to go and try and get it out
So Mits go ahead and give us the url for the 2nd time of the OBS - Thanks.
well we keep having winters like this, we will never get out to do anything....
Good Afternoon everyone....I'm glad to be back for another season...trying to catch up on all that's happened since Lib and Belle's return....jus got the internet back up and running..Hope all goes well for them.

ah, the all too familiar sounds of jets taking off from Reagan Airport..things getting back to normal, I pray.
Lolly, love the boys in the snow photos. How wonderful for them to have snow to play in. At least you know it won't last. (Hope not)
Lisa at BWE doesn't think any of them are viable
Well, now I will pray,
HI PaNana
little dad is back and they have in the nest box and so things look good for a new season.
Not mating ,just in the nest box

that you have just as much snow as everyone else!
Ceil thanks for that message. I value Lisa's opinion. But I'm still praying
for a miracle - even just one little eaglet, please.
Remember Elizabeth Brown? I think she was the very first frozen embryo go be implanted and given birth to and, as far as I know, she is still living and was a healthy baby.
Yes Bev I was remembering ME nest also.
Awesome!
did you see Lib fly in from the bottom left?
big ol fat fish! Yay Lib!
Is this her normal call. What a dad . Bringing her food
Now here is a thought . I wonder if she is going to lay egg #4. this is the same as happened before #3
It is not impossible right??
Must get a few things accomplished today. Mits - I am still holding my valentine cards for all the great grandkids :(
Thanks for the link
BBILW
I am still hopeful.
Not too many 4 egg clutches.
well the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away....just had some resourceful souls here for the last 90 mintues, clearing off both driveways, and the walkway....
Not impossible, Bev. An eagle pair somewhere in the west...don't remember where produced and I believe fledged 4 eggs:) May have been 2 or 3 years ago. Read it on here somewhere, didn't see them.
OK had the 4 clutch, right?, but did any of them survive?
Oops! Was posting on the old blog while trying to catch up. Geez!
Saw/heard Belle call for delivery and Lib obliged. Looks like a big catfish.
I see one egg for sure, but there could be another on the right of it, only buried a bit. She is relentless.
God bless her!
OK SUTTON Had 4 eggs.... Only one I know about.
Has Belle always laid 3 eggs?
I thought Elizabeth Brown was the first invitro to come to full term. Not a frozen embryo, but I could be wrong.
Steve, did you get all the info?
The second egg that disappeared last Sunday has reappeared in the egg cup.
OK only hatched 2 of the 4
Belle has had 3 eggs every year that the cam has been online, 2006 to 2010
This is not the one I was referring to but, interesting:

What is being eaten? Is it a bird?
Has someone e-mailed Steve with the egg count.
More food!
Oh, Paula, you could be right about that. That name just popped into my mind when I was thinking about frozen embryos.
Geesh Lib, you'd think the chicks were about to hatch! Fish #2 is a whopper as well!
Just looked how close Belle was to the edge. Hope she does not drop her parcel Lol
This is too funny. She is not going to share.
she is saying, no incubate, no eat
and Lib off again
Wanda, look up, Mits just posted the info.
That is a huge fish! So happy to that in the nest.
Invitro didn't bother me nearly as much as the thought of having an embryo that had been frozen for years, implanted and birthed.
Temp is finally up to 34° here in Eburg...
She is tearing into it like she was starving.

Bill Clinton has just been taken to the hospital.
Bev, you can post pictures on your blog.
What blog. I am sorry I do not know
Lib is done eating, going to incubate.
Clinton hospitalized with chest pains.
Uh oh, he wiggles down a tab and then gets out of the bowl.
Poor Bill too much H...don't even go there Wanda, you promised to be good!!
Bev, we can copy and paste that link too.
You can create a blog, now that you have an account, and you can embed the slideshow there if you want.
Bev, give me a minute. I have to go through the process myself to tell you what to do. Somebody else is welcome to jump in and take over . . .
Lib is gone
I think he realized the egg was cold.
Please take over, Paula. You are better at this than I am.
Which doesn't seem to bother Belle...just my thoughts.
Paula, I tried to copy and paste it, but it did not work for me.
Belle does not have dingleberries:)
Oh, I'm sorry, I promised to be good. Going to fix supper...forgot, already in crockpot. Need to cook some noodles. Having Hunky Stew.
Go to your profile page and click on BLOGS and follow instrustions.
Paula do you see some ycamore balls blowing it the breeze ☺
430-5ish and 8 ish and 2 ish
Here's a link to Bev's slideshow
Bev's slideshow
ycamore = sycamore
Yes I sure see them Margy...hence the question earlier!
I see them at 2, 3 and 9
seems dark at the nest, we have more sunlight here in Mtsbg
Oh nice float in
Oh and balls at 4ish too, balls everywhere!
Whew, just leaves, thought he brought another fish!
Margy, Lib delivered 2 fish back to back
Wiggle wiggle, Lib on the eggs
I showed up late for that, saw the 2nd chowdown
seeing your icicle Paula...
reminds me there are some unbelievable icicles out now
one huge one directly over our entrance door at work
hoping no one got pierced coming and going there today
OOops Belle about landed on Lib, she brought back a stick

Brrr...don't know about other parts of the world, but it IS the most brutal part of our continent. I have used your link a lot---sorry I never mentioned it. My bad...
Put them up Lolly, a couple of inches is prettier than feets of snow!
going to check some links and earlier posts
might slide down butt first to the mailbox later on
Oh Margy, I accidently knocked the icicle off, it was looking really cool too. I have another one that's getting just as long...don't have to walk under them.
some places look like ice palaces from Dr. Zhivago...wish I could have gotten some pictures
thought would be better to keep driving
Double triple quadruple welcome Bev

hard to blog and watch and all that....slows some of our computers down a lot
You will get some help on your questions. Lots of expert help here !
Hi Mits, glad you got some cool mail today ♥

we'll be more than glad to hook our talons onto you, but good Bev !

Wanda - Lolly - Margy - Shirley and others have personal blogs where we
can see the videos, slide bshows and pics that they post.

Keep commenting, Shirley. I am uploading fish video, my feed is slow, so I shut it down for a few, too much traffic on the connection!
Back again! Phone calls!!
Bev....cold water works best on fresh tea.
Night Light is ON
Shirley glad the snow and ice fall did not damage your car...

Time for some chow here. Belle can't have it all! Think mine is more palatable, a least for us!
So NO DOUBT it is Belle on the nest cup
Jo I am filling up the Momsters photo album

Hello eagle momsters and dadsters.
I was just going to ask about the Southern Delegation
Hello T-Bird ! ♥
Cabin fever!!! Had to shoot something so I took some shots through the front door of our local birds yesterday during the blizzard. We're getting quite a few of them.
Blizzard Birds
Great post, as usual by Lisa in the BWE log.
I like your bird pics, Bob:)
Yeah, I read that post by Lisa. Was hoping to take a tek out to BW tomorrow but it doesn't sound like the roads are in good enough shape yet.
Thanks Megan. Keeps me busy.
Awesome Blizzard Birds Bob! The one shot of the jay was exquisite~!
Perfection and beyond Bob
I was thinking about you today too, wondering just what you and your camera were up to. Now I know !
Bev, I will give it a shot.

I haven't done as well adding videos. I have used You Tube to do that.
Beautiful pictures, Bob. That is a nice camera.
Made a comment about Bob's great pictures but it didn't post.
Bob loved the pics
Thanks Margy. Paula - The Blue Jays are beautiful but boy are they aggressive.
Wow Bob - such a variety of Beautiful Blizzard Birds out your front door! I'll take #27 as my favorite of course.
I had a really noisy one here this morning Bob but with the sun and snowblindness, couldn't locate him !
Those rosy house finches are something else too...they really get chirpy come springtime...and the robin! Overwinter or a new spring arrival ?
Oh Paula
Thanks for the Dunedin 3rd hatch news, saw them feeding when you posted that earlier ☺
by the way, just in case no one else did, I emailed Steve that the first 50 or so comments on the new thread had info about the eggs, and cut and pasted Megan's and Jo's posts about it also
sure he was reading that, but just in case not
I have deleted all pics and documents from my netbook. Also found that my internet favorites DO take up computer space because when deleted they end up in the recyle bin (deleted emails don't!). So I deleted a lot of them, too.
So will try to see if I can blog and email again without wierd appearance of pages and freezing.
Margy - I was surprised to see that robin.
but I was not the one that emailed him that he mentioned about on the new thread comment from him
Off to make dinner. Catch y'all later!
Hope it is a spring arrival Bob. I have seen flocks come in this early around here, but we also have some overwintering ones in the woods...
Not THAT morning and evening song is intoxicating, have it on my bird clock which reminds me twice a day how nice it is ♪
NOW not NOT, sorry
Another Hedgesville Great Grandson story - This time from Joseph age 6.
Phone rang and it was my gd saying that Joseph wanted to talk to me as they had been watching the Live Feed.
'Mema - we just saw your eagle fly into the nest - then he flew out but he is back now and he is eating!' He was so excited. I told him we thought he had a catfish from the river - the river where you and dad go canoeing. Joseph said 'You mean the Potomac?'
Took me for a loop! I promised him that when the snow goes away I would take him down to visit the Sycamore Palace and hope that he could see Lib & Belle. He was there at Open house
but it was that very rainy day and didn't go by the tree.
Love it Jo, keep it coming ♥
going to go add pics now
bbl
Margy, mighty short off-time for you, kiddo...:( Be very careful in the morning---there will be lots of black ice.
Love your birds, Bob! I haven't seen any recently----even threw bread out this morning---all still there.
Cool JO.
Lynn- emails don't go to your recycle bin, they go to the deleted folded in your email programs. Your favorites shouldn't be taking up that much space to delete them. Try clearing out all your browsing history instead.
I don't get too many jays here, but when one showed up at the feeder yesterday, all the other birds scattered!
And you must have some clean windows, Bob. How is Mrs Bob's toe?
Margy, I sent Steve the pic of the two eggs that were visible earlier.
Jo that was cute. Hope it clears soon and you can take him.
Great story, Jo! I love Joseph's!!!
Bob, as usual, awesome pics, and you fix dinner too, what a man;)
cute story, Jo....smart little guy.
guess I'm surprised to see eagle in the nest tonight..MTBR
Okay, now I'm wound up ... hey Wanda what can we get into now?
Paula, I said that emails don't but favs do. That's why if we log into our email on another puter, our mail is there, but our favs aren't----email is with the email provider; favs are on the installed/used browser, I guess. I delete browsing hx. and cookies every day.
Margy, I wouldn't open that email---mark it as spam!
Love the photos Bob Thanks for sharing with us.
Lynne good pictures. Daisy reminds me of my Princess. If she got out the door or yard. Off she would go but the neighbors knew her and would bring her back. Glad all turned out okay.
And there chirps my 7 o'clock Robin
