WHOA!!!! MEGAN!!---I just got a call from W/CTR---I won ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS on some board game that I took a chance on!!---I NEVER WIN!--But am I obligated to share with MEGAN??!
This much snow is exhausting... a friend plowed our lane yesterday, it still needs a lot of shoveling though. we couldn't drive out even if we wanted to.
Roads are bad down here, too. Neighborhood barely passable. Secondary road not good. Only main road reasonable, but so much snow piled in the center lanes at intersections that it is impossible to see much.
Shopping center so full of piled snow that it is going to be a problem finding parking places. We may not get too much out of this new system coming. Right now, we're not in the watch area.
thank you Lord, a snowplow just went down the street, don't know where I would go, but at least, I think I can get out, not comfortable driving in this amount of snow though....
LOL, Ceil, you were a young girl then, too!!! Remember all the excitement, hopes and dreams, and fear??? So glad that all has been so good for you and Jim!!
Congrats, Norma!! Only time I ever won anything was from someplace called Salesian Missions...and they got investigated by the FBI/IRS and I had to sign some kind of affidavit!!
Back form coffee and dog treats. Eagle in the nest. must go to grocery store this am. Its snowing only lightly right now but have 6 to 9 inches coming over next couple of days. I know that doesn't soudn like much to all of you but to Dex it means go get me some dog food and keep my back door open and a small path at least plowed.
Norma I have not seen a plow. Jim said they came up our street Friday and early Saturday but not much has been up our street. I always say when we get snow our street is closed from November to April. Just watched the videos of Blackwater they are wonderful
Paula, did you make it to work okay? Norma, did someone plow out your driveway? Lucky! I jsut called Mr. Bill and asked if he knew anyome with a snowblower to give me a path to the mailbox---he doesn't. Damn......
Glo - we are expecting more snow here too, and yes 5-10" is to be concerned about! Just as the roads get cleared, they will get covered again. Roads in Frederick city are packed down, icy snowy mess.
For what it is worth, I have posted a few pictures of the journey Will and I made last night in search of supper.
Also, there is one picture of Susan's car being dug out of her parking spot. She made the chinchilla run last night. Rescued 13 chinchillas and drove them to Maryland. I know that some of you do not agree with keeping chinchillas as pets, but these little guys needed to be rescued. She did it in conjunction with an operation of the SPCA. I was worried about her. She drove from Reston to Fredericksburg and then back up to Maryland.
If I can safely use the "T" word, they call the kind of rescue Susan participated in a "train." Someone brought these little critters up from, I believe, Texas, through North Carolina and to Fredericksburg. The Fredericksburg to Maryland part was Susan's. I think the next leg of the journey was from Maryland to New Jersey.
These little chinchillas originally came from Holland.
Good morning everyone! Enjoying my Monday off, I really don't mind this Tuesday through Saturday schedule right now, but I am gonna have to get a plan for the summer. Nice and quiet around here this morning. Mattie stayed at her mom's last night, so I have the house to myself (if you can call it that with four dachshunds in the house).
Happy Anniversary Ceil and Jim! Congrats!
I am worried about ya'll gettin more snow up there in the Eastern Panhandle area tomorrow! We are supposed to get some, but not an excessive amount, I don't think. I would settle for getting my car back home. We had to park it at a neighborhood store parking lot. Need to go check on it here in a bit.
Norma You need a man who is a geek with plumbing tools and can drive a snow plow! Keep looking - I'm sure there is one out there! He may even have carry a hammer and a wrench or two. We'll get you fixed up sooner or later!
Jo, I have a wonderful pair of fur-lined slip-on shoes that I wore last night. Not really boots, but the sidewalks were very well cleaned. If boots had been necessary, I might have just sent Will in to pick up the food.
I don't think that restaurant behind me was open. The whole shopping center was pretty dead. We met one man who was in picking up food because their power had been out for many hours. I feel fortunate to have electricity.
30 sec cam great, but I'm still having problems with the live feed using FireFox.
But I have an old version of I Explorer, which gives me all kinds of warning that it can't play the live feed, and then it plays the live feed. Hahaha.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CEIL AND JIM!! Hope you have a wonderful day of remembering and celebrating!
Roads are a mess, Steve made it to work and called with a report on how bad it is. He and the manager are the only ones there.
I'm stuck because I can't take the pickup out on the snow packed roads due to the 4 wheel drive not working. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow (or maybe tonight when hubby gets home) and get more supplies for the next round coming.
Another foot of snow, which is what is possible, will really make this bad situation worse.
I know I don't have to say it but PLEASE everyone, be careful. The sun is beautiful but it's causing melting and refreezing and it is VERY slippery out there. I pray everyone stays safe.
Daisy is going crazy...there are limited plowed areas for us to walk her. She's a riot in the snow, though! She will try to climb a snow hill now and then, but usually not with much success. I sure wish I could let her off of her leash so she could run a bit but she'd be GONE. Our fenced in garden is too deep to let her loose in right now because with the snow so high, there is a large area where she could now easily jump it if she put her mind to it.
Thank you, Lynne. I was hesitant last night to say what Susan was doing, but I am proud of her. She loves her little pets and has taken time to learn how to care for them properly. Earlier, she rescued a little chin that had been in a schoolroom. She feels that they're not appropriate schoolroom pets. They require specialized care and do not do well in a place where there are lots of children and activity.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, CEIL & JIM!!!!! Been watching the news w/all the crawls about what's closed~~~of course for today mostly.PG Park & Planning is closed, but I want to know about tomorrow! Fubby went out to stores in 2 different directions & said "you're not going to work tomorrow!" Our road is totally clear because of county Public Works down the street, but rest of the world isn't! He got my corned beef! I forgot about it---we had great baby back ribs for SB & a few left. Looked at MT nest & there is a round thing in well????
Shirley, I don't agree that a LOT of things should be kept as pets but worse than that, is that so many people who have them, whether chins, birds, reptiles, cats or dogs, should never have gotten them in the first place. Most people never give a thought to getting educated about any type of pet they want and have no idea how to properly care for them! And most people breeding these exotics or dogs or cats are in it for the money so they simply don't care who buys them as long as they are making a quick buck. OH THE STORIES I COULD TELL!! Thank God that there are people like your Susan, who are ready willing and able to help when help is needed!
Good morning? 42 here, rained a good part of the night and still raining. I am so tired of it. We now live in "swampsville"! And, you live in the far frozen north!
See more fluff in the nest. Want more brought in!!!!
Happy Anniversary Ceil and Jim! You beat us by a year....our 45th is in June. When all the snow is gone you and Mits will deserve an excellent dinner out!
So..Norma is hunting for a guy with a snow plow. lol You are right, Jo, he needs to be a GEEK, too. Norma...we love you...oh, and may I borrow some $$$ Hear you have a little extra!!!
I really slept in today. Was really nice. It was 9:45 when I got out of bed, but then it was really late when we went to bed.
Shirley, loved your pictures. Really interesting to read and see the chins. They came from our area and that makes it very interesting to learn how they are being taken care of. Those idiots tried to get them back.
It is windy here, Shirley, so probably at nest, too. Susan has done a good thing. Don't know what people expect....the people who imported the poor things and those who mistreated them are the ones to be criticized. The rescuers are the heros. As long as they end up in loving, caring homes with qualified owners, that's what is best. They certainly can't be released intot he wild! Thanks you, Suzi!!
Wonder if someone could go put a pile of sticks and a bale of hay under our Sycamore tree? On the way to church yesterday I was spotting piles of sticks and thinking...hey Lib, here are some sticks.
5 to 10 feet...om my gosh..please be careful with those typos. I almost passed out. ♪♫ Hi ho hi ho, I'm off to shovel snow ♫♪ sing along if you know the tune...
Shirley, XXX OOO to Susan for going out to rescue those chinchillas!!! How awful they've been taken out of the wild & Holland of all places. We saw them at the NZ & are normally natives of South America. We fell in love w/their round ears! Fubby weent to Home Depot (wouldn't go before storm!!) to get sunflower seed. The gang outside is habby. Lolly, sorry for your swamp. That's what we'll have if there's ever a thaw! Norma, now that you won $$$$$, you may meet a Geek of all trades!! ☺
I have been thinking about schools. There are large flat roofs on most schools. Maybe they are better supported with all of the classroom walls. I hope so.
Somewhere I have pictues of roof shoveling at my in-laws house in Minnesota. Up there, roof shoveling is a regular task. They also have to move the snow from around the foundation of the house so that melting snow won't flood the basement.
Of course, they do not wait until the roof starts to buckle before cleaning it.
It takes a special type of person to walk around on and shovel a rooftop.
that's terrible about the firehouse! I'm worried that our sunporch roof will come down, too. Can't get the snow off of it, and the snow from the roof is melting/freezing on it now, too. Speaking of which, it's time to go clean off the patio ice again UGH.
Have been to facebook, trying to catch up. Need to go to Lily's page to see the latest video.
Lynn, loved the exchange between you and your daughter after you commented on her picture. So funny! How are you doing on supplies? Guess I could drop supplies from my plane...my sub won't make it there in the snow. However, after all of you get more snow....maybe my sub could make it!
Just read where the Bear center had read all of the comments on Jack Hanna's fb page. Said they were "glowing" and so proud of the comments made by the Lily fans.
Time to eat breakfast and to read the paper. Boy, I am really off schedule. lol
Lolly, it was fun bantering with her! Thanks....I'm fine on supplies. Just so desperately wish I could get to the newspapers and mailbox---have my valentines for the family ready to go, but can't put them in the box.
Lynn Maybe it is roofs.. But I know what you mean. Hubby had his tree pole cutter which is very long and knocked off the overhang from our roof by the side door.
Sharon - prayers for Jeannie and family Tell Beverly NOT to go to Wallymart!
Thx, Shirley! Right----and flat ones, too!! Was SO very thankful that I wasn't working in our new plant here---the first winter the roof was sagging with the wt. of snow (and maint. guys were up there with snow blowers). Engineers came and inspected; told them to string a chain from one side of building to the other at a certain level below roof---if it sagged below that chain, then evacuate--otherwise safe. R-i-g-h-t. I'd have been outta there! Worrying a little about it now. Carolyn says "Why, Mom? You don't work there." Cause I still have friends that DO!
i'M back. I updated my Real Player for Pete's Pond (supposedly back up), something caused FireFox to crash about then, so I just restarted the computer and reloaded everything.
There's a note on Mei Lan at the Atlanta site now.
Hi Mema Jo - am from Canada & we usually get the winter weather you are getting now. Today it is cold & dry here but very sunny. Good idea to stay away from roofs you cannot safely clear - someone mentioned the walmart roof was sagging - they shouldn't allow anyone in the store or they will be libel if anyone gets hurt.
If Belle has another egg not much can be done to stop it - good thing is that it is early enough in the season to lay another clutch. Happily, God gave eagles what it takes to get through this kind of weather.
Food prep is taking some time. I thought at first it was a fat bird. but now I think it is a poor little squirrel. I do better w/fish, too Sharon. They don't get so personal! turning down the sound....
Something with a fuzzy tail, but not my George, Paula, if that's the George you're thinking about. He would be a bit too heavy for the eagles to carry away.
I just tried to go to the Jack Hanna fb page. I did the other day and saw all the comments from Lily fans. Too funny! But, just now when I tried to go I could not get on, not without becoming a friend. I think he did not like all the comments people were making. Again....too funny!
Absolutely not your cat. I have always had that fear that a cat would be brought into the nest. George was a really brave little squirrel at Kent for sure.

Congrats, Norma!! Only time I ever won anything was from someplace called Salesian Missions...and they got investigated by the FBI/IRS and I had to sign some kind of affidavit!!
What's a snowplow? Yesterday people were taking trash cans of snow to the corners and dumping snow.
MORNIN' SHIRLEY!---Last nite--I was thinking what I would have done without all you EAGLE BUDDIES next door????
Shirley, stay tuned, they said they thought, NWS would include your area in any updates.
Lynn I was 20 and 10 months later had our son.
Thanks Megan and Norma for the greetings. Still have not look at other cams. Ours is still MT

Good Morning All! The sun is shinning so that is good! Congratulations Norma - maybe your luck is changing!
Happy anniversary Ceil & Jim. 46 is a good many happy loving years
Before I leave my thought is we have an eagle who needs to lay an egg soon. I hope they can get more of that stuff out of there before that happens.
A little birdie stopped by to sing a song for Belle. That was actually pretty fun to watch and hear, and listen and watch she did.
Congratulations, Norma!
We need good news!
Our eagle is in our nest. Sitting on the egg cup.
I need to read earlier comments
I am happy to see that the Space Shuttle Endeavour blasted into space successfully.
MEGAN!---That the way my road is--I don't think I could drive out--but at least I can walk out to the street now!
CEIL---I have decided--when I marry again--one question!!---'do you have a snow plow'? ho!

The tell people in the city to clear the sidewalk but not put the snow in the street? Where do they think they can put it?
Lynn - major roads here good, side streets are snow packed...I'll report more when I head out at lunchtime to bank and post office!
I really wanted to see Susan last night, but wanted more for her to make her journey quickly and safely.
pixPA---SNOW--SNOW--some small birds--temp 10°!
I am being visited by blue jays this morning. Love to watch them, even if they can be annoying sometimes.
MORNIN' PAULA!---Be careful--don't get stuck!!
Susan did a god deed helping those chinchillas. I hope they can be put in loving homes.

Many of the animals taken in the raid on the exotic animal warehouse can only be cared for in a zoo.
Norma You need a man who is a geek with plumbing tools and can drive a snow plow! Keep looking - I'm sure there is one out there! He may even have carry a hammer and a wrench or two.
We'll get you fixed up sooner or later!
Shirley Love your pics and the captions. I hopoe you had your boots on!
As Norma would say - I need food
BBILW
Maybe my peanut butter/honey toast will help me type correctly.
Thanks SHIRLEY! for sharing the 'CHINCHILLA RUN' story!---You must be proud of SUSAN!!--Has she named hers yet?
She was giving the name some thought. She has two others whose names start with "M." This one is a white one--I think Susan called it a white mosaic.

One eagle went Poof!
Did something just get dropped from the nest?
Looks windy there.
Windy at the nest (and outside here too)
Eagle looks as though preparing to Poof
Sitting up on nest at 10:00
POOF! MT NEST
Good morning.
Happy 46th Ceil and Jim. May the day be filled with sunshine and smiles and lots of happy memories.
Margy, that was really nice that you checked on GG. I know Wanda and the Capt. are ever so grateful.
Shirley, give Susan an extra hug for her critter saving.
Norma: his name is DARTH -- for a small fee...
Can't get live cam this morning.
Have almost decided to cancel my classes tomorrow. Do not want to get stuck in D.C. with another 5-10ft.
inches, Judie, inches....it just feels like 5 to 10 feet.:)
Shirley, hope the critters do fine

Yeah, Judie, I bet you will not have any objections to calling off your classes for tomorrow.
Five to ten feet would be really scary. Five to ten inches is bad enough!!
Yes, Lolly. Susan had to wait until the appeal was decided.

Also, Becky said the roof at the Bluefield Walmart is buckling some. Don't know how they can legally keep it open if it is doing that???
I just saw that, Lynn, and I'll just bet it could be more...sorry to say.
This is another southern storm.
awww, sorry to hear that Sharon, prayers of course
LYNN2---I bet DAISY would love to BOLT---It is so hard to hold them back---but DON'T LET GO! ho!---Saw a pic of DAISY!--'who wouldn't love that face'!
You are correct Jo -- especially the 8am students. I just need a mental health day and being unplowed is a good excuse.
Norma, if I stay in this house another day or two -- he's FREE!
Live about 3 miles from Annandale fire dept. Hoping it doesn't completely collapse and glad the equipment was moved out.
Judie, A'dale fire hall evacuated....roof is sagging 5"...Bailey's Xroads went during the night---18 on-station were all in bunk area, and safe.
Sharon, condolences to you and Jeannie's family.
that's terrible about the firehouse!
Sharon, prayers for you and your family.
Sorry for the loss in your family, Sharon and Sissy. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed is the name of the Lord."
Judie, please do cancel your classes for tomorrow!
Storm has already hit Arkansas.
Heard fire chief here tell his crew yesterday that they were NOT to get up on any rooves (is that the plural? Looks wrong!)
In New England they use long-handled tools to do it from the ground. They also do NOT have guttering!
Just read where the Bear center had read all of the comments on Jack Hanna's fb page. Said they were "glowing" and so proud of the comments made by the Lily fans.
Time to eat breakfast and to read the paper. Boy, I am really off schedule. lol
I see we are now in the watch area. I really think we will not have school this week.
Sharon - prayers for Jeannie and family
Tell Beverly NOT to go to Wallymart!
Judie - Sherlock Holmes???
Ineresting about the bear center. Has anyone seen a response from the Hanna people.
From Merriam Webster:
Main Entry: 1roof
Pronunciation: \ˈrüf, ˈru̇f\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural roofs
Forgot to tell you all that Sunday afternoon our Paper was delivered to our side porch. Dedication!
MORNIN' LOWREDDA!---whoa!---'I would be looking for a person who did not hunt or fish all the time!! ho!
Just stay away from building with buckling roofs, rooves, etc.!
Mits, have you heard from Jay? Did Acela arrive safely in Philly??
We got two papers this morning with a notice that delivery could be interrupted again this week.
Judie, they are also worrying about the Vienna post office building.
i'M back. I updated my Real Player for Pete's Pond (supposedly back up), something caused FireFox to crash about then, so I just restarted the computer and reloaded everything.
There's a note on Mei Lan at the Atlanta site now.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim

BBL
SHARON---sending my love and will keep JEANNIE & her family in my prayers---GOD BLESS!
Lynne, stay off porch!!
Norma, use your winnings to get a GEEK to come get your email fixed!!
I missed lunch again
BBILW
good day all - winds sound very strong there
I wish that wind would blow some snow out of the nest!
have liberty or belle been at nest today
maybe a good thing the nest is pack with snow - otherwise this wind would do a lot of damage to nest - the eagles need a warm spell to melt the snow.
Someone is in the nest right now!
Trample that snow, Belle and Lib!
Yepper, Sharon that's our eagle.
Hi Safire
They were here early am
and again around 11:30 am
Safire - do you have snow where you are?
We are to get as much as 14" more tomorrow.
Our fear is that there could be another egg in the making.
Belle just brought her own lunch in - a fish!
They have been sticking together
That makes my heart feel good that they have each other.........
Off goes Liberty
Good close-up of eagle munching.
Poof Belle.
Poof MT Nest for now
Taking a break - BBILW
Hi Mema Jo - am from Canada & we usually get the winter weather you are getting now. Today it is cold & dry here but very sunny. Good idea to stay away from roofs you cannot safely clear - someone mentioned the walmart roof was sagging - they shouldn't allow anyone in the store or they will be libel if anyone gets hurt.
If Belle has another egg not much can be done to stop it - good thing is that it is early enough in the season to lay another clutch. Happily, God gave eagles what it takes to get through this kind of weather.
Time to go back to work - will check in later.
Another eagle has returned!
Safire - it is great to know about your location being Canada! We really have a worldwide audience for Liberty and Belle.
Come back whenever you can.
Mid afternoon snack? Love the talking!
I am getting colder seeing eagle sitting in the snow. Like said though, eagles are insulated for the cold
WOW Lib comes in a talking and tweeting with more food. Belle goes over immediately and claims it for herself.
And food but not sure what the food is!
Hi Lolly
Eagle sweet talk.
Looked like Belle was wondering why Lib left in such a hurry.....
Now back to eating.......
I think maybe a squirrel. I do so much better when the food is fish and not mammal.
Maybe more snow on Monday?
Shirley Which Monday - Today Monday?
Nope. Next week.
Same here...fish is much more appealing.
Have not looked at weather map but guess all the moisture we are getting is headed your way in the form of snow. Same as last week. Yuk!
Belle was making so much noise on the egg cup, before Lib landed that I was thinking...oh, no, not another egg....not yet!
I don't think I can hold up that long!
Hi Jo!
Sound is almost too graphic when she is tearing her food apart.
Just says snow showers now, Jo. That is awhile ahead.
Dropping in to say still alive on this end.
We are suppose to get more snow about 6" tomorrow.
Food prep is taking some time. I thought at first it was a fat bird. but now I think it is a poor little squirrel. I do better w/fish, too Sharon. They don't get so personal!
turning down the sound....
Icicles falling on my back porch. I am afraid to venture out there, but glad to have some rooftop snow melting.
Good to see you on here, Dana.
Yes, easier to see her eating a fish.
I thought that was the hair dryer coming over to the nest! I wish!
I am putting my feet up for 30 min or so
BBILW
yes, Lynn, got an email from him, said no travel problems.
sorry for your family's loss, Sharon.
Very Very Happy Anniversary Ceil and Jim -- CONTRAGRULATIONS on your 46th yr.
The sound of crushing fish bones is so much easier to take than crushing squirrel bones! :0) My sound had to be turned down for sure.
Yep, I believe I remember the Vienna P.O. has a flat roof (roove).
Someone having late lunch at nest.
Yes, cancelling classes. Need a mental health day.
Yes, Jo. Victims and suspects and clues, oh my. Not the best picture but enough of a clue.
Afternoon!
Frederick City roads are a mess. No way they'll have school tomorrow!
Commercial on the cam is back...eagle in the nest.
Oh, are we defurring or plucking something?
Oh, did George come for lunch?
Lily and Cub Video
In case you have not seen this video. The long version of this can be found on Lily's fb page. Go searching for videos.
We thought defurring. Sound has been too grafic.
Something with a fuzzy tail, but not my George, Paula, if that's the George you're thinking about. He would be a bit too heavy for the eagles to carry away.
looked like a poor little squirrel to me. Someone else said the same.
Roof, roove, ruf, something like that.
No, Shirley, George the squirrel. That was the name we gave to the Kent Eagles nest squirrel. That was a couple of years ago. Did not mean your cat.
I just tried to go to the Jack Hanna fb page. I did the other day and saw all the comments from Lily fans. Too funny! But, just now when I tried to go I could not get on, not without becoming a friend. I think he did not like all the comments people were making. Again....too funny!
Was hoping he would admit that he had just learned something. Not big enough of a man to do so, I guess.
Bear center Lily cam is hoping they will be invited to Letterman. That would be neat!
Lolly, thank you for the sinking cub video. Not a fb member.
Shirley, so happy your George was not squirreled away on a shiny garland and taken to the nest.
Absolutely not your cat. I have always had that fear that a cat would be brought into the nest. George was a really brave little squirrel at Kent for sure.
Gee, Lib and Belle should line the egg cup with squirrel fur. That would be cozy.
think I'm going to cry....latest predication is for 10 to 20 inches here, but that is from weather channel, not my favorite source of weather.
