Well Wandasince I spent like 7 hours photographing eagles this weekend and its going to snow this afternoon I htikn I can pull together a Glo's Glimpses today at some pointwhile I am eating cake and drinking milk :-). Not all cam club quality for sure that will be in a couple of weeks after I really sort out. BUT I did see so much action and interaction. It was a fun weekend. The best one this season. :-). And the photos do have stories of their own to tell.
MORNIN MEMA JO & BIRD GIRL!!---That's about the temp here in WILD & WONDERFUL WV now!!---I wish those kids would settle down & get on with this 'birthin' thing!---just lay an egg!---make an old woman happy!!!
Good morning! Important day! Went to the nest before reading the paper! ☺ You were talking about the messy nest...Our Belle and Lib let the house keeping go to pay attention to their babies! Of course their babies are not here yet, but now I guess hp and eating are more important.
Enjoying see them work on the nest.Whoops! Just poofed!
Thanks for the wishes for Zach. I am sad as I will not see him today and will not see him til Sunday. Did just talk with Ashley and that was good. Michael is still in San Antonio for his big trial. Goes to the jury this week so possibly it will be the last week. We are all hoping so.
Just spoke with Sis. She sounds horrible. She had to take Mattie to the hospital for routine labs today and she is not feeling it! She said she would have to spend more than 6 months in the Mayo Clinic to feel good enough to die. Daddy used to say he would have to spend 6 months there for that! :)
Birthdays today? Happy, happy to Glo and little Zach and anyone else I may have missed.
Glo, sorry you didn't have an egg for your birthday; just eat cake. I just hoping Belle lays it before Puxatawny Phil sees his shadow (or Octoraro Orphie, etc. - can't remember all their names).
I had an aunt who liked to say when she was sick that she felt so bad that she wished she could die and it worried her that she didn't. I know that feeling. Just yucky.
Mits I caught a little news clip this morning on Fox 5 about the Polar Bear Plunge, saw one handsome man who could have been Kevin...did he have a yellow towel around him ?
24 hours Lib and Belle stop teasing us and give us that first egg PLEASE
Channel 6 news was out the the lock and Dam yesterday. Dex and i were actually talking to Burt Gearhart like 2 minutes before they interviewed him on this clip. he is a camera club member and a dog person, so I had taken a break from Pictures to walk my dog and introcuce him to some of my friends. Anyway to make a long story short here is a video that the news folks made. Its only 2 1/2 mins. Listen for the Clicker fish :-)
It is so sad how one person can mess things up for so many. I too enjoy the beauty of the NBG cam. They do an awesome job. There are however jerks everywhere. We have had a couple post on here etc which is why there is no more anonymous posting. Most chat rooms do have a block feature on them Guess you could easy enough get backin with a different IP address if you are a determined jerk.
Ya'all didn't mention if you heard the clicker fish on the video. :-). I think the eagles who winter here are sure that the fish make a clicking sound when they catch them :-).
I had some visitors for about 1/2 hour Now I need to get ready to roll up the highway for a few hours.
Chat rooms - PIX moderator really keeps a watch on their chat and immediately deletes any comments that are not welcomed. Best thing is just to stay away from the chat rooms and hopefully the chat can be deleted when you just want to watch the cam.
Mema Jo and Magpie Yes to be honest we: Dex and I came so close to being interviewed. maybe she steered clear of the dog. I'm not sure. I almost never even get him out of the car there as usually too icy and cold. But yesterday it was sunny in the 20's and so many human friends I wanted to introduce to my furry friend. Trust me they all know there is a Dex in my life.
I see it looks like more snowy weather coming this way Tuesday....think I will celebrate Glo's and Zach's birthday with a school pick-up with Grandson James....
Margy, I don't keep the live cam open for more than a couple of minutes unless I'm up and watching between 2am-7am!! Don't want to take the risk of being penalized again! Have any of you tried to turn off the chat at NBG? It won't turn off for me, even tho' it says "click here". Too bad some a--hole has to ruin things.
There are over 800 people in the forum right now. Sorry about the problem posters, it was bound to happen. We're re-evaluating this setup. The chat can be turned off if users find it unacceptable. by 13News at 2:53 PM
Lynn...I don't leave it on for very long, unless I am sitting here and the eagles are in it so for three days that has not been an option (NCTC) BUT - I did not get the 10 min 30 second notice at all yet... It's off now
have NBG down will try that other trick later on...Thanks Mits, otherwise I just hear the chk chk chk and ignore what's coming up
Getting ready to head out for insurance apptmt. Need to get some long-term care coverage since GM terminated what we had. Also going to get a new chair for 'puter desk with my Christmas money! Old one is probably 12-14 yrs. old, and insides are sifting out! Never was comfortable, either. It was a hand-me down. See y'all later today.
Update January 2010 The osprey cam has been cleaned and readjusted for a new viewing season. The camera has been adjusted up and outward to hopefully avoid another direct hit from the good-shot youngster ospreys. Adults may return by the end of March- so until then check out the bald eagles and burrowing owl with nesting behavior underway. Check out the osprey at night as this camera is a night capable camera.
OH Lynn, I got Columbia and Challenger mixed up, I do recall both. Was in the office when Challenger happened, we heard about it on the radio, then we all went over to the showroom to watch the TV
NBG Eagle has been off the egg for a while. See that they stopped the chat, but mine is stopped with filth still posted. Want to block the whole thing!
I must be doing something wrong, if you can not see the messages. Not getting any new ones as it is off, but still see the last posted, and it is not nice. YUK!
put your mouse over the icon and above it is says turn off comments, then click on that, it may not work now because they have it shut down, but that it what I have been doing to get rid of the caht
Thanks Mits!!! Understand now! Duh, a little slow this morning.
Judie, sometimes they are off the first egg to slow it down, so there is not much developement time between the first and next egg. However, she or he seems to be looking for the other parent, Calling out.
H...!! My live feed seems to have taken a Humpty Dumpty this morning.
Probably due to recent updates either by FireFox or FlashPlayer, my live feed, which was working, even early this A.M., started giving me a flash of the pic while that arrow is going round, but then it goes blank black and gives me a notice about an error and its inability to show video!!
We were having some trouble earlier too Jim, you might try it again.
Norfolk parent back on the nest, cam people are there zooming in and out, I guess she is on the egg, oh yes, she just repositioned saw the egg and she is on it
Have been googling schools in Dallas. Michael and Ashley are applying to schools for Zach to go next year. They have to apply, be evaluated and then notified in March. I am very anxious to know all that goes on, but they do not share too much with me. Woof!
Good Afternoon. I can't get the NCTC home page to open either in order to get cams!Is the whole world watching?? I have icon for Comment page on desktop---no trouble opening this.
Larada, I have gone throught the Outdoor Channel page. Have it marked as a favorite. Not having too much of a problem. Sometimes have to try several times.
Bob, beautiful pics. Is that a Stargazer Lily? They smell wonderful and have them around the house outside my windows. Also, #29 looks like a Tiger Lily - I think I have one of them too.
Lolly, don't know how to take pics on my computer (wish I did) but took some of NBG this morning with my cell phone and used one of them as my wallpaper. Just a magnificent bird!!
Been watching NBG eagle and noticed she/he has been off the egg quite a bit this am, but just a while ago, it lifted itself up and started to pull more fluff around.
Could she/he be trying to make the egg cup deeper? Just wondering... Did notice the egg is not as visible.
Lindan, sometimes you get a black screen depending on what type video is playing.Had trouble w/WMP making a black pic & you have to go into tools and do some adjustments to computer. Saw that in a tutorial awhile back.
OK Thank NatureNut. It was working fine yesterday, but not today there. Fine pics on all the other cams though. At least fraps is working for me there. It's just hard to get it going. Tempermental...
I have a question for all the teachers, or any other familar with Montesori.
Daughter wants to start Max and was wondering wht I thought. I've heard of it but am not familiar with the program. They start at 2 1/2 years andI worry about him being a child for a little longer.
Lindan - I thought you were talking about your feed at NBG being black..taking screenshots is another matter...try turning off hardware acceleration on your computer.
Diann - you will see eagles off the first egg more than with 2, serious incubation starts on the 2nd egg. And they constantly are rearranging and digging in the bowl, you will also see that after they switch.
Lindan - also, sometimes WMP won't work for me after using other video software...flash, RP etc. Try rebooting and going right to NBG and see if it works then.
I don't have an opinion or any thoughtful insights on Montesori but I do have a funny story. My brother was going for his first day of Montesori school taught by Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic nuns. When my mother pulled up in the station wagon with him in the front seat he took one look at the nun in her full habit and jumped over the seat to the middle and then jumped over the next set of seats to the back of the station wagon and started wailing, "Why me, why me..." as if he was being sent to a life in prison.
I am not fully familiar with the program but believe it is geared more toward a let the child develop its own interests at its own pace without much intervention. Know a teacher who went that way and two of his three children were NOT successes. HOWEVER, others may know more and have direct knowledge of the teaching/child development philosophy. You might try a google search for Montessori teaching philosophy/child development philosophy.

Hi again everybody!
Thanks for the new thread, Steve.
Thanks for the call-over, Mits.
MORNIN' SHIRLEY!---How much SNOW did you all get?---We have 2 hr delay!---The SUN is coming out---makes one feel better even if it isn't warmer--ho!
Hi Norma! Maybe eight inches. We have plenty of snow here.
Good '1st day of a new month' morning all! Signing in with a new thread and eagle in the nest - (he did go poof)
Going to be a good one.
Sounds like we might get a couple of more inches tomorrow night.
Good morning. Neighbors getting a new roof, so no sleeping in this am.
Beautiful view of the NBG eagles this am. What a magnificent bird!
Checked our nest but no egg yet. Sooooo, will she beat the groundhog?
Must eat breakfast; hungry!!
... later
Hi everyone! Bird Girl here, checking in to see if we will have an egg today or not? Norfolk has one -- time for L & B to catch up!
Have to run over to Mom's for a short while this am, I hope to see an egg when I get back!
That is what I just heard Shirley about the weather. Also again on Friday.
Shirley - guess what? It is 25° on my page now. lol

Well that was a half-hearted attempt at nest fluff arranging!
Off they both go for food or fluff or more sticks!
MORNIN MEMA JO & BIRD GIRL!!---That's about the temp here in WILD & WONDERFUL WV now!!---I wish those kids would settle down & get on with this 'birthin' thing!---just lay an egg!---make an old woman happy!!!
MEGAN---Don't you think they are just 'playing with our minds'?--ho!
Diann - I hope those roofers are fast workers inbetween snowfalls.
7 years ago today was the Shuttle Columbia tragedy. RIP, astronauts.
Once again I will wish Glo a very happy day and a special year ahead.
As for being 4 yrs old today - Zach you have a great day and a full life ahead!
Baby Ben I know you are kissed by the angels!
Good morning! Important day! Went

Eagle alert
BAck with a stick!
Think I am going to read the paper now, but keep an eye on the nest.Whoops, don't you just LOVE hearing them arrived!!!!
BBL
Love to hear those wings!
WOW! Very big stick!
Small tree there.
Oh Where Oh where
Should I place this limb?
Flinging it around the nest.
I agree Shirley with your description
A small tree......... lol

... later
A bit unwieldy.
It takes a lot of sticks to make a nest the size of a VW.
Maybe that is the snowplow backing up at NCTC.
Down on the ground off to the left I can see a small tractor - probably with a plow.
Watch Lib come in and plop down on that new branch and have it fall out
of the nest..... Not funny after all
the work Belle has done.
I sure wish Bev was feeling a bit better. Her head probably feels like it is going to blow up
Poof!
Poof!
I thought it was Belle - but as always there is room for doubt!
Eagle gone
Happy Birthday Glo!
Happy Birthday Zach!
I had an aunt who liked to say when she was sick that she felt so bad that she wished she could die and it worried her that she didn't. I know that feeling. Just yucky.
Thanks for telling me the eagle was gone. I needed to refresh.
I hear a big bird up in the sky
I hear crunching. Maybe something being eaten on a branch near the microphone.
Oh I remember the Challenger tragedy like it was yesterday...was taking inventory, then got home to see it all over the news...
Headed back the hallway for my street clothes!
BBILW
Pa Nana Diann... you didn't miss Glo's birthday....IT IS TODAY, ALL GLORIOUS 24 HOURS OF IT ☺
THAT'S A LOT OF EGG-LAYING TIME YET
Can't wait to see the new Glo's Glimpses of the Eagles....
Hello again Eagle ♀'s and ♂'s
Mits
I caught a little news clip this morning on Fox 5 about the Polar Bear Plunge, saw one handsome man who could have been Kevin...did he have a yellow towel around him ?
Paula, you were a baby back in '86 when Challenger exploded---1/28/86!!
For some reason, it seems like Columbia has been longer ago than 7 years.
Lynn...are you getting more continuous feed time like I am ?
about 17 or 18 on, a few stopped seconds, much better than a few days ago...
Was just checking NBG. That chat will not last long. Have someone on there trying to sell drugs and using bad language. What a shame!
24 hours Lib and Belle stop teasing us and give us that first egg PLEASE

OMG it is getting worse at NBG. Can not watch the cam at all. The idiot is getting bad.
I hate that chat on the NBG page. Cam here has developed a buzz...
Glo, thanks for sharing that news clip. Very interesting!
And, again....Happy Birthday!
Nice video clip Glo...
I noticed the hum too Megan...
I see that WVEC is tracking the IP address of the jerk at NBG
The moron is gone from NBG site, Lolly.
Just saw an egg roll at NBG. What a beautiful picture. What a cam!!!!
Yes, I saw where they thought they had him blocked. Too bad that happened. Schools will not allow watching that cam if they know what happened there.
He or she is back or at least was for a minute or two there....
That will happen there again, there are plenty of trolls in chat rooms. They need a way to remove it from the screen if you don't want to chat.
Really good coverage on the news clip, Glo. Was hoping to see Dex somewhere in the background....
I think they are going to try to ignore him, not a bad idea...
like getting obscene phone calls...
was wondering what that chk chk chk noise was on NBG then realized it was new comments posting...
It is so sad how one person can mess things up for so many. I too enjoy the beauty of the NBG cam. They do an awesome job. There are however jerks everywhere. That Eagle in Norfolk, how beautiful...
no seasickness this morning watching that one ☺

COOL CLIP! BIRTHDAY GAL!!!
I see it looks like more snowy weather coming this way Tuesday....think I will celebrate Glo's and Zach's birthday with a school pick-up with Grandson James....
I'll be peeking at the nest before I leave....

Too bad some a--hole has to ruin things.
At the top of the chat at NBG it says you can turn it off. I have clicked on the icon at the bottom, but can not turn it off.
Jo
1) Thanks for getting our new February photo album ready...
and 2) Please tell Ed that some things are surely working better on this old computer ☺ ♥
Roll up the highway, I had a different mental picture of that at first ☺
Have Fun !!!

same here Lolly....didn't do a thing different for me
Glad to hear it does not work for you, Lynn. Thought it was me. Someone needs to let them know we can not turn it off.
you go down to the icon, then go up to something like stop comments, it works for me, that is how I found the message I just posted...
Whoa, BWE cam looks a little rough
when you can to the icon, above it says turn off comments..just hit that and it does
Lynn...I don't leave it on for very long, unless I am sitting here and the eagles are in it so for three days that has not been an option (NCTC)
BUT - I did not get the 10 min 30 second notice at all yet...
It's off now
have NBG down will try that other trick later on...Thanks Mits, otherwise I just hear the chk chk chk and ignore what's coming up

is anyone getting PIX PA or tried to?
mine says is off air...
OK we're hitting the pause button on the chat for a few minutes... sorry, check back later

Thanks Helen..
off the wall question: I got a jar of Hot Pepper Jelly for Christmas....what do I do with that ?
Eagle in the nest, one on the branch at Lake Washington
branching eagle just flew into the nest at LW
They have shut down the chat at NBG. Maybe some kid out of school for a snow day causing the problem. Too bad.
Hot pepper jelly. Good on crackers with a little cream cheese.
Hopefully some of those folks have a nice blog like we do and can keep talking to each other Shirley
Happy Birthday Glo!
I can't open the cam now-

Have fun Lynn
Hi Sunny

Margy take a block of cream cheese, pour it over, and enjoy with crackers of your choice, take it to work, your friends would enjoy it I bet
I hope they do, Margy. It is sad that someone can ruin things that way.
Now I am craving hot pepper jelly with cream cheese and crackers. It is a bit different and really good, Margy.
same message here, Megan
OK Shirley and Helen and confirmed by Hedgie! Mention Cream Cheese to me....no other persuasion needed !
Thanks
TTFN got to find street bibs
Getting the same error message on the cam here, Megan.

maybe they are working on the Hummmmmmmm
udate from WWF osprey cam....
Update January 2010
The osprey cam has been cleaned and readjusted for a new viewing season. The camera has been adjusted up and outward to hopefully avoid another direct hit from the good-shot youngster ospreys. Love the NBG cam, love the color, but just saw the eagle call out and heard nothing. So, thankful for our sound.
eagle has been off the egg alot this a.m. at NBG
poof at LW
You have it turned off...can you still see the comments that are frozen on there
To turn off discussion, click icon below messages.
Says that at the top. When I click on the icon below the messages....nothing happens.
OK we're hitting the pause button on the chat for a few minutes... sorry, check back later
it is frozen after this post by them, Lolly, and all the stuff has been deleted
I must be doing something wrong, if you can not see the messages. Not getting any new ones as it is off, but still see the last posted, and it is not nice. YUK!
Just checking in.
See NBG has had some trouble with a troll(s). Blocked comments but WVEC comments frozen.
Eagle does not seem to be incubating. Off the egg for too long?
They do have a beautiful view at NBG. You can see so much detail. But I like having sound, too. Wouldn't trade our blog for their chat for sure.
Ok, just refreshed the whole page and got rid of the trash. Now see what you see. Mine was frozen on YUK!
put your mouse over the icon and above it is says turn off comments, then click on that, it may not work now because they have it shut down, but that it what I have been doing to get rid of the caht
Thanks Mits!!! Understand now! Duh, a little slow this morning.

Heading out, see you all later
xo
Just finished moping. Jack vacuumed. Glad to see her back on the egg, now turning the egg. Same eagle or different one? That is the question.
Well, Jim, I refreshed and can not get our cam either.??????
Finally after several tries, I got it back.
Whoops! No eagle at all in the nest at NBG.
Back!
Took me 4 tries to get the live feed going.
EAgle just flew in
Worked on nest cup, then flew out
Thanks, Lolly. I retried it a couple of times with no luck; but I'll do it several times and see if it works.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Bless you ... and whoever works on live feeds ... Lolly.
I tried opening it again and it worked the first time .... still on.

Keep trying, Jim.
Have been googling schools in Dallas. Michael and Ashley are applying to schools for Zach to go next year. They have to apply, be evaluated and then notified in March. I am very anxious to know all that goes on, but they do not share too much with me. Woof!

BBL
Tried again & page came up. Got both cams open to no avail~~~MT nest.
Bye, Lolly. Happy googling! ☺
Eagle back
I just saw what appeared to be mating??? Was there a reason for that? I thought it was time for eggs. Oh and hello everyone...
I'm back too! Come on, sit, lay an egg, we are sooooooo ready!
Can not answer your question. Did not see what happened. Do know they will continue with hp until an egg is laid.
Regal close up at NBG.
On our cam just tried the full screen mode. Lovely! It still shuts down IE and all that I have up. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
Good afternoon!
Was playing around with some more flower macros. I added them to the other set. Ignore the first 21 - Numbers 22-33 are new.
Flowers
Eagle still in the nest. Come on....just snuggle down and lay an egg....if you are Belle!☺
Poof!
Wow! Beautiful Bob, just BEAUTIFUL! That is an amazing camera and you are doing an amazing job. More fun!
Could someone tell me why I can't get pics at Norfolk. I just get a black screen. Computers....Urrggg...
Thanks Lolly! Still have a lot to learn about this camera. So many options on the settings.
I have returned from the west and checked out the cam and my emails.
I am going in to put my feet up...
excursions.
BBILW
Can not help you there, Linda. I have a beautiful picture of NBG. In fact, just now save a pic and it is now my avatar.
Hi and Bye, Jo!
Guess I will go do something else for a while.
BBL
Bob, Those are just beautiful!!! I still want to borrow your camera!!! (or bring it to Park!!!)
Bob, beautiful pics. Is that a Stargazer Lily? They smell wonderful and have them around the house outside my windows. Also, #29 looks like a Tiger Lily - I think I have one of them too.
Come on Spring!
I finally got Fraps to work but MWSnaps just gets a black screen. Thanks though. What capture feature do you use, if I may ask...
Lolly, don't know how to take pics on my computer (wish I did) but took some of NBG this morning with my cell phone and used one of them as my wallpaper. Just a magnificent bird!!
Put a pic of NBG awhile ago on Blog. Sitter was leaving & hollering at same time!
Been watching NBG eagle and noticed she/he has been off the egg quite a bit this am, but just a while ago, it lifted itself up and started to pull more fluff around.
Could she/he be trying to make the egg cup deeper? Just wondering...
Did notice the egg is not as visible.
Lindan, sometimes you get a black screen depending on what type video is playing.Had trouble w/WMP
making a black pic & you have to go into tools and do some adjustments to computer. Saw that in a tutorial awhile back.
Hi, Nana. I saw that too. Wonder if she really wants to start incubating? Or maybe it was wet in the eggwell.
No idea what those flowers are. I just shoot 'em. Maybe Megan knows?
OK Thank NatureNut. It was working fine yesterday, but not today there. Fine pics on all the other cams though. At least fraps is working for me there. It's just hard to get it going. Tempermental...
Eagle alert!!
I have a question for all the teachers, or any other familar with Montesori.
Daughter wants to start Max and was wondering wht I thought. I've heard of it but am not familiar with the program. They start at 2 1/2 years andI worry about him being a child for a little longer.
I'd appreciate any/all opinions or comments. TYIA
Poof!
Lolly - what version of IE are you using?
Pictures are stunning, Bob. Thank you so much for always sharing with us.
NBG: I have tried to check every half hour or so and I'm getting concerned about the egg.
Lindan - also, sometimes WMP won't work for me after using other video software...flash, RP etc. Try rebooting and going right to NBG and see if it works then.
Judie - they know what they're doing, trust the eagles!
So Delphia just posted on Facebook that it looked like NBG had given up on their egg? Is that so?
They don't give up on eggs this quick, do they? Lib and Belle incubated eggs long past the time they were supposed to hatch.
40° at Norfolk VA.
I don't have an opinion or any thoughtful insights on Montesori but I do have a funny story. My brother was going for his first day of Montesori school taught by Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic nuns. When my mother pulled up in the station wagon with him in the front seat he took one look at the nun in her full habit and jumped over the seat to the middle and then jumped over the next set of seats to the back of the station wagon and started wailing, "Why me, why me..." as if he was being sent to a life in prison.
like Paula, says trust the eagles to know what they are doing...look at the one in FLA, sat on the egg almost 2 weeks past its hatch date.
I'm sure egg will be fine~~~been digging and putting lots of fluff in well & it's sunny even if chilly.
Diann, I think you asked about Montessori.
I am not fully familiar with the program but believe it is geared more toward a let the child develop its own interests at its own pace without much intervention. Know a teacher who went that way and two of his three children were NOT successes. HOWEVER, others may know more and have direct knowledge of the teaching/child development philosophy. You might try a google search for Montessori teaching philosophy/child development philosophy.
lol....Bob
