Thank you Steve!!!Do you get to stay at NCTC? Wouldn't be a bad place to get snowed in w/the great food. Power would help. My hubby asked if there were a way to put a canopy above the nest!
BTW, wasn't it the CO Ft. St. Vrain nest that lost the chicks last year because of the cold weather & one adult disappearing? If so, I haven't seen any info on the missing adult & is that a new mate this year?
Good afternoon Loretta and Jim. I have been watching the bad weather at our nest in school and am now home watching. My heart goes out to that poor parent.
Hey there Sharon. didn't see you on here. I take it you are getting this rotten weatther. All it does here on the Outer Banks is rain and that is what I wish you and our nest up there would get.
Hi Steve. Thank you for the new thread. Hope you stay warm and safe this weekend.
Paula, put in stove top cause that's in the recipe name as opposed to several others they have -- in case anyone decided to look. Safe home if your streets are slickery.
Do not like all this snow on the nest. Really difficult to watch and can't begin to imagine how cold it must feel.
Just found out they have to shut down power in Bedford for about an hour because of electrical problems. Bummer. I can still Facebook from my phone though! :)
Lolly We had a stove with a deep well... back in the 50's - Mother used to cook wheatena in that, anyone every have that? Great hot wheat cereal..
Macaroni and cheese, stirred up a hankering for it did I? Wasn't the same when I mentioned Beef Tongue a few months ago ☺ I have a Panera's gift card, now when can I get to Charles Town to use it ??
Hi Jim - we have a Dadster amongst us ☺ Time to go brush the snow off car first time now I'm having my coffee in my Momsters USFWS mug, the black one, adult flanked by two juveniles
I have a question for anyone who can answer. . . Will Belle stay in that nest and pust the snow away? How can she lay in a nest with 1-2 feet of snow on it without cleaning it off?
Candy, if you're still around~~~only one egg. Hope there won't be another for awhile. CA & Outer Bankis are fortunate to just have rain! Starting to stick here, but not on the rroad. Trees & shrubs are lovely, but we won't like it much later. ☺ I hear a chirpy bird.
Hi Lynne2. I've been around, checking in from time to time. My pup is still hanging in there. She went through a round of radiation and is now on chemotherapy. She is 11 1/2 now, so she's in her "geriatric" years. She's a trooper and the sweetest little thing. Roxie has been going to Cornell University Animal Hospital. They have the best oncology team there. Initially she was given a prognosis of 3-5 months. That was last April and God bless her, she's still here and she's in good spirits. Thanks for the shout. Is Belle going to be okay? Sorry so long.
Thanks Margy for the chuckle...remembering all the chat about beef tongue.
We went to the grocery store. No slippery roads, no long lines, no coats, just sun shine. Now, I look at the snow on Belle and want to cry! Wish she would shake it off! Bless her heart!
Glad you remember a well on a stove. It was Matag gas stove. Mother would cook stew in the well, but it was best for holding pop corn.
Always bake Mac and Cheese. Laurel sent a message.... the Bacon, Cheddar, Chive Bisquits were a BIG hit at school today. Must get in there and send you the recipe.
Thanks Loretta for the answer. I sure hope she doesn't have any more with the mess out there now. The parent looks like it is in it's own little cave now; hopefully warm; egg too
Donka - we had a miniature schnauzer here last week who barked and barked and alerted a wife that her husband was in grave medical trouble...☺ is that what your doggie is ?
WELL!! It looks like Belle must have heard my concern. She looks a little better shaking that snow off and hopefully she can keep that nest in somewhat of a cleared condition. Poor little thing, bless her for being such a good mommy.
Hear that Whistle? That's the 4:00 running through town.
If someone just tones in to live feed - they will need to stare awhile before they see our eagle's head!
Hi Donka Maria! How is it there in MY
Our eagle will be there for a while. There is one egg underneath in the eggcup. All of a sudden (whenever the eagle feels the need) he/she will raise up with wings spread throwing off the snow - the egg cup should still not have any snow in it. It is a beautiful sight! They had been rolling the egg about every 15 mins - they may wait longer now. I hope you and I are watching when it does happen.
Yes Magpie, my Roxie is a miniature schnauzer. They are the best breed of dogs. I am not surprised that the schnauzer alerted someone to it's master's condition. They also have a very keen sense of smell. I have read and seen on TV that they can smell certain types of cancers and the medical community was using them for that purpose. Nautre is a truly amazing, awe-inspiring and beautiful thing, isn't it.
Watching the news...thank God and God bless our National Guard! They are activated due to state of emergency here in MD. They are at the ready with Humvies for emergency transports.
Not liking at all what they are saying about this snow. Worse than I even thought.
Hi Mema Jo, How are you? It's fine here in NY, we seemed to have dodged another bullet with this snow. You guys are really getting hit hard down in WV.
BW adult must have shaken snow or the don't have a lot yet. They could be in blizzard area tonight. No snow at Norfolk, but a warning to not open a link to CA eagle nest~~~it has a Trojan. I didn't see it--is on an unsecured website, but got a big red flash on little mouse hand when it opened.
Those large wings are really tenting over the egg. Donka Maria - we really could get a 2nd egg tonight or sometime tomorrow. Just hope we can see down in that deep egg cup I haven't been up to NY (Ft Drum) for a few years since gd and family were sent to Bamberg Germany. I really did like the drive up!
Our snow started around 11:00 It was fine but now it those huge snowflakes that you know it is going to last a long time. I am close to the WV line but Ellicott City is about the same as what we are - Snow covered! Most Baltimore county schools were closed. I probably won't see the news until 5:00 Hopefully they are home safe & warm!
Thanks Mema Jo. Everyone stay safe and warm. I'll check in later. Thank you all for the warm hellos. Been trying to keep up with what's going on with everyone, so much has happened in the past year. Okay, gotta go, God Bless each of you and our Beautiful Eagle family.
Megan I think you would be prouf of my white greenhouse, brushing the snow off was a snap..wish I had taken a picture first ! About five inches so far and barreling down fast
Donna, I'm in Randallstown, not too far from Ellicott City....it's been snowing since around 11am but only started sticking about an hour or so ago. The roads are not too bad just yet, although snow is coming down very heavy now.
Reading the Catalina Report, they must have had some serious wind in that storm last week.
The West End cam tower, which was new had its steel bar mounting broken off near the base, and a newly constructed structure supporting a 'blind' to watch the Pinnacle Rock nest was also wrecked.
But did you see that Donka Maria did not even take the time to mention my typo? She read right over it and knew what I meant.. I was going to delete comment but what the heck - I like being just like every one else
For me it's the darn arms on this new chair - comfy but sure does make a lot of typos! lol
I never did pick up typing very well, have too long fingernails (but also do typos when they're trimmed),& can't see the keys 'cuz have lamp off because the kitty is sleeping on daughter's old pillow! LOL
Jim, be careful...a CA nest site has a trojan.....think info was posted on Norfolk site!
Hi and bye Donka Marie! Long time no-see.
Margy, I love wheatina!! Remember it well.
FYI: Pete's Pond: National Geographic Crittercam and WildCam The 2/28 date is not a 'planned cut-off', but our existing funds to pay for the satellite uplink will run out at the end of Feb. We have not given up and are looking for both a long-term solution and options to keep the cam live if that process takes longer. The current outage is just a technical problem that the fol...ks at the Pond are working with our satellite service provider to diagnose and fix.
Wow is that Belle tenting over the egg? I am getting ready to leave work and wanted one more peek. What an amazing sight. Hello again to all that I didn't get to say hi to earlier. BBL have to go get dinner.
You are all too much!!! I'm with ya, I feel like I need a drink or a valium or a xanax, anything. I love these birds like they were my own children. I am forever addicted. Okay for real this time, gonna go. Everyone stay safe and warm whereever you are/go.
Margy - can you ever forgive us for NOT asking for the beef tongue recipe?
My son emailed me a recipe for Vodka Rigatoni...after I try it, I'll let you know how it was. His friend makes it all the time, I said, Hey send that recipe my way!
Well, Steve is on his way home. After a bunch of lip service from the warehouse manager about closing once the snow starting sticking to make sure everyone got home OK, he didn't let them leave!! Our road is completely covered and no salt truck yet.
Hi Gang. Still just one egg? Snow started around noon in H-town, but teally started getting heavy at about 4:30. Came home from work an hour early, so we're all tucked in for the weekend. Will be watching and praying for out little egglet.
Night light coming on if we hear snowplows could be Wanda and Gene's grandson Brandon
Wonderful, Helen, welcome home Jubby !
Yes, Jo ---right at 2:21 into the song, then two minute instrumental with the Eagle pic....funny mine started and stopped until that point, then zippy the rest of the way
BUI, cute Margy!! Not too much activity at present...a few wrecks, but single vehicles. A lot of Homeland Security chatter about plows and salt in other parts of state. Mmmmm... my M&C is yummy! Jim, do they use tea or cider in a hot toddy??

Just had a nice talk with Nilla... she is watching right along with the rest of us...talking on FB too...she's home safe and ready for turkey and potatoes
so I will be up cleaning off the white greenhouse a few times overnight...Megan how many times have you been to your green greenhouse
Hi Susan, you will get your answer from a professional ...short answer...We hope that she will... challenge from the elements...she should be okay, there is the egg underneath that we worry about...

The eagles will do everything in their power to keep that egg warm and dry. This storm is going to be a real challenge for them, for sure.

Snow plows I hear?
Hi Mema Jo, How are you? It's fine here in NY, we seemed to have dodged another bullet with this snow. You guys are really getting hit hard down in WV.
Belle shook off the snow, but she is getting covered fast.
Mema Jo, how is it in Maryland right now. I have relatives in Ellicott City and was wondering what the weather is like down your way?
BW adult must have shaken snow or the don't have a lot yet. They could be in blizzard area tonight.

It is hard to watch...this is my first time seeing this! But look how insulated she is....that snow doesn't melt on her!
But did you see that Donka Maria did not even take the time to mention my typo? She read right over it and knew what I meant.. I was going to delete comment but what the heck - I like being just like every one else
For me it's the darn arms on this new
chair - comfy but sure does make a lot of typos! lol
Oh Jo, I just rearranged one of my photos and now it is out of order with yours sorry
Maybe Wanda should have had GG in for a sleep over tonight...
Those plows keep going! Sometimes you can see them but all the times you can hear them.
but it's almost identical so it can come out
Wow, I just got the live feed going again, and I was wondering where Belle was, when she obligingly decided to move her head.
I don't like to see that much snow on her anymore either, not since that storm three (?) years ago.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
BWE looks rough and Lisa warns the views could be affected by the major storm warning there..
I still have power so maybe they won't shut off our side of town.
I never did pick up typing very well, have too long fingernails (but also do typos when they're trimmed),& can't see the keys 'cuz have lamp off because the kitty is sleeping on daughter's old pillow!

holey smokes, LW looks like branches blown all over the nest
no birds at Okla eagle nest right now
Think it is going to be a very long night of watch and worry at the nest.
Wow, lots more snow on the nest than when I left work.
Ride home was fine, roads were just wet. Not too much traffic.
Can see Belles' head right now, but rest of her is unrecognizable!
Margy, who's the little chirpy at the nest?
She's shaken off again, check out those wings.
Major tenting!
Thank you Belle. Thought I was gonna have to come up there & dust you off!
They know what they're doing, I don't!
Is it valium time?
My dogs have been out in the snow, and now they are in and are full of piss and vinegar!
Wow! That is really cool.
Wow is that Belle tenting over the egg? I am getting ready to leave work and wanted one more peek. What an amazing sight. Hello again to all that I didn't get to say hi to earlier. BBL have to go get dinner.
Loretta - slug down a glass of wine or two. You'll be fine.
Hey Donnie! It's a sight to behold.
Movin, I wasn't on this site 3 years ago. What went on with the storm you spoke of?
LOL, Paula!! ☺
Oh, I'm sorry that's Donna not Donnie!
Gotta go change...
don't know Loretta.. I;m back to 3 seconds on and 17 off going to try firefox
You are all too much!!! I'm with ya, I feel like I need a drink or a valium or a xanax, anything. I love these birds like they were my own children. I am forever addicted. Okay for real this time, gonna go. Everyone stay safe and warm whereever you are/go.
5" here....gonna go make first pass on deck.
Well Nugz thinks since I am home it must be time to eat!
A song & message to our eagles:
For Lib & Belle from those who love ya
And if it's bad
Don't let it get you down, you can take it
And if it hurts
Don't let them see you cry, you can take it
Hold your head up, hold your head up
Hold your head up, hold your head high
And if they stare
Just let them burn their eyes on you moving
And if they shout
Don't let them change a thing what you're doing
Hold your head up, hold your head up
Hold your head up, hold your head high
Thanks JO...that's good.....
Lolly - send that recipe for those biscuits.
Margy - can you ever forgive us for NOT asking for the beef tongue recipe?
My son emailed me a recipe for Vodka Rigatoni...after I try it, I'll let you know how it was. His friend makes it all the time, I said, Hey send that recipe my way!
Nice Jo!
Well, Steve is on his way home. After a bunch of lip service from the warehouse manager about closing once the snow starting sticking to make sure everyone got home OK, he didn't let them leave!! Our road is completely covered and no salt truck yet.
sure can Paula...it was way too much work anyway, with little return
but the laughter was worth it !
The blue link for the song is for the
long version...... But I love it and it has an eagle in the video half way through.
hey, my play/volume buttons are NOT on the live feed....
Hi Gang. Still just one egg? Snow started around noon in H-town, but teally started getting heavy at about 4:30. Came home from work an hour early, so we're all tucked in for the weekend. Will be watching and praying for out little egglet.
Hedgie keep me posted on scanner activity - email is okay...
Well, in that weather you'd better get a recipe for mulled wine or hot toddies it seems to me. [:~D]
I've had hot toddies many years ago, and they're delicious in bad weather.
Whiskey, honey, hot water and ??
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Our eagle is about to
Break Out !
Margy, I picked hubby up from Metro station, he was home before 3 o'clock
have not looked at the nest yet.
There she goes! Getting up.
LOL...I tried a Vodka pasta recipe once---it was a Rachel Ray recipe....what a gummy, cheesy mess I ended up with!! never tried it again!
Margy, you will never live down the tongue story!!! It was so funny.
Sharon, glad you and Thelma are not in the dark and cold---at least yet!!
You can do it
Nope, just a little adjustment
Just drink the vodka.
Go ahead Mits
She/he is breaking out of the snow
bank.. Beautiful pic.
Think I'm going to make tracks to the satellites and brush the dishes off before I start losing reception. BB.
yikes, have not had cam up for over 4 hours, what a mess:(
She/He changed position... Great going!
facing 11:00
Yay, Mits, glad Jubby is back home. Tell him it's time to start the fire :)
Jo, Look again, eagle hasn't gotten up yet.
Still facing 7ish
I don't have any vodka in the house, don't drink it.
I do have wine and Margarita fixin's :)
And a couple of beers, and a ton of other kinds of liquor, but no vodka!
gonna go find something to do while I wait for Steve. Our road is a mess.
Night light coming on
if we hear snowplows could be Wanda and Gene's grandson Brandon
Wonderful, Helen, welcome home Jubby !
Yes, Jo ---right at 2:21 into the song, then two minute instrumental with the Eagle pic....funny mine started and stopped until that point, then zippy the rest of the way
Dinner on the table.....
BBL
whatever I have I can't touch it, don't want to be DUI to work and then slur my words :(
Just realized the night light is on
if i have to go to work that is, on here I would be BUI - blogging under the influence, or PUI posting under the influence
Okay, that's done. If I do it periodically, maybe my footprints will stay at 5 or 6 inches!
BUI, cute Margy!! Not too much activity at present...a few wrecks, but single vehicles. A lot of Homeland Security chatter about plows and salt in other parts of state.
Mmmmm... my M&C is yummy!
Jim, do they use tea or cider in a hot toddy??
hubby has already started the clean up of drive-way, he did this in December, thought he was nuts, but it helped, did not have to clean 30 inches at one time, nut case across the street was shoveling the street...weird
Hahahaha. FireFox just did its daily crash, which reminds me of why I switched from Explorer last year.
It's been doing it for some time, but I didn't think it would after I just updated it yesterday. I was wrong.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
I've got a spiced Capt. Morgan rum...that would be good in a toddy!
To me that's the only way to do it with the amount of snow that's coming. I imagine we will be shoveling and snow blowing all night.
Mits, glad Jay made it home okay!!! How far do you have to go to the metro station?
Hedgie, I don't think there is just one recipe for hot toddies. I'll see what google has.

Whoa Shirley For the winter months that is a good thought about the light!
Would someone be able to tell me which way our eagle/s head is pointed?
She has her back to us now, Jo.
Oh, Margy, I see your face! lol You have me giggling....BUI and PUI. Think you have just started a new phrase.
Hear the snow plows. You need snow stick along side the roads like they do in the mountains.
The snow is really coming down now.

Hello again everybody. Can't hardly see the eagle on the still cam. Maybe that is a good thing.
I can't get the live feed up.
Sharon keep trying on the Live Feed
If it says Error and you click ok
Go up to the top wording of Conservation eagle cam and click on it. It could take quite a few tries.
The pic on still and live are the same.
Thanks Megan!
Sharon I did find my way out of FB last night. Couldn't believe I was going to be held captive in there.
lol
Lynn station is around 10 minutes from here, on Wisconsin avenue, at Maza Galleria
Got the live feed up and I think I see a head at about 1 o'clock?
my live feed keeps stopping, turning it off now
is she in the nest yet..my lord it's covered..is she going to be okay...
Just went to facebook. I do not like the changes. It is too confusing.
Paula, sent the recipe to all Momsters. Several asked for the recipe and that was the easiest way to get it out.
Jo, it will be snowing here all night and into tomorrow afternoon. They say the heaviest snow will be between midnight and 8 am.
Susan, she is still in the nest and yes that is her head at 1:00.
Lolly, they're not so bad... I found everything
so I will be up cleaning off the white greenhouse a few times overnight...Megan how many times have you been to your green greenhouse
Hi Susan, you will get your answer from a professional ...short answer...We hope that she will...
challenge from the elements...she should be okay, there is the egg underneath that we worry about...
Yes, Belle is facing 12-1ish
time for Wanda and Gene to check in
Maintenance dept. has cleared it 3 times, cause I was cooking. snow is coming off pretty good so far, we've got it really warm inside.
I have to share this with you ..
Snowmen are falling from Heaven disassembled!!

Sure!
LOL, good one Jo!
What temp do you like to keep the gh at, Megan?

Oh, that's cute, Jo!!!! I like it! Post that on your FB!
Megan I hope that the egg cup is as warm as your greenhouse!
Paula, first time I made the bisquits I did not have buttermilk. Use half and half instead...a lot more fat, I think, but very good.
Hedgie I took it from FB - from my
ex daughter in law... We are still great fans of each other. I know she wouldn't mind my sharing.......
Lolly did you find the Log Out on FB
I liked that too, Jo.
Shake off time again
